Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the WINTER & HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new RESORT & SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I definitely plan to visit the B&M this weekend and check out the ballet flats, cardigans and some of the pants. I've only seen the catalog online and it will be much better to see everything in person.

  2. OT: Does anybody know Nordstrom's return policy? I think i want to return a pair of shoes that i never got to wear but it's been a few months since i bought them and the receipt doesn't have any info. TIA for your help!

  3. I went yesterday to check out the new arrivals, but left empty-handed. It was nice to see some color in the B&M, that's for sure!

The Neapolitan skirt reminds me of last year's watercolor skirt in fit, material, and texture (and $10more, I believe). Very cute.

The scalloped zipper cardigan and wool Jaspe crewneck top are both tissue thin and see through. I'd be scared of the zippers catching on the rest of the sweater in some way. They had the wool Jaspe on a mannequin over a neon pink tee shirt and you could see completely through the Jaspe. I found the fit to be exactly like the original sweatshirt, but the wool content made it a little bit itchy.

Not sure if it is a retail-only item, but they had a 100% merino Always cardigan in lots of colors. Cute shape, but some of the lighter colors looked slightly pill-y. $88.

The rest of the store was a rainbow of Jackie cardigans, slim shirts, and vintage slim jeans.

  4. Thanks for the report silver lining. Nice to hear the stores have stock and don't have the "We are going out of business look." Doesn't sound like any must haves though so I probably won't make the long trip in...

  5. No problem, Genny. Truthfully, the only reason I would bother with a visit is to try stuff on, and then order online to get pieces that aren't shop-worn. However, my B&M doesn't get a ton of merchandise, and it usually happens that things I'm interested in are catalog/.com only. So even though I've got a store within 5 miles I rarely purchase, although I make most of my returns there. ;)

  6. I went to the B&M on Wednesday for the personal shopper event and filled my shopping bag. No need to go back this weekend. I've seen all the new arrivals they have available. I'll probably order some things that my store didn't have.

  7. silver lining,

Yes, the two things I am interested in are catalog only anyway-- so, yes, fun to go look but like you I too order online mostly. If I get free shipping, I do use the prepaid return label often to return items. It is worth it for my time and gas $.

  9. I was in both of my B&Ms yesterday and the sale sections have really thinned out 'cause extra30 is still going on. In Durham, still many bling button cardis in pretty much every color and lots and lots of tees. A stretch wool flannel 'Olive' dress at $99, size 12. A metro dress, size 12, at $69.99. A smattering of toothpick & matchstick cords. In Raleigh there's even less -- still more tees, some winter accessories (wool hats/scarves/etc.), and a few pair of pants.

I managed to score a pair of black matchstick cords for $19.99 and a pair of destroyed matchstick jeans for $19.99 (retail was $118, zoinks!). Not sure how that happened, as they are still $98 on jcrew.com, but hey, I'll take it!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Elaine,
Thanks for the update. Were there many pairs of destroyed jeans left? I need a 31 or 8 or 10. Thanks.

How did the new arrivals look in your opinion?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I just might. I am now wanting to try on the Neapolitan pencil skirt.

  13. Miss PennyZ-
Nordstrom is amazing. Period. They will take back any item at any time..no matter how long and give you cash or credit your card. The item should have a sticker on it that NOrdstrom placed on there when you made the purchase. That gives them the price paid etc. They don't blink an eye or sneer at you;)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Genny, I think I got the only pair. Sorry 'bout that! I actually just snatched them when I saw the price and ran for the dressing room. :-P You can call them and ask, though! They are sized by waist size.

I wish they'd do 'we will find it' searches even for sale items. I'm not sure why they won't. I'd get a lot more stuff that way!

  16. Sorry Genny, did not see your post re: new arrivals ...

I sort of glazed over the tees, tanks and anything ruffled, as I'm pretty well stocked up on all those things. :-) I did wander over to the suckered gingham perfect shirt in navy -- I think it's JC's attempt to cash in on the one they did previously that sold like hotcakes. I liked it but not enough to buy at $69.50.

I also am not loving the bathing suits that are in the stores right now. I can't do Liberty-type prints. Being a little larger than the average bear, I need a bright, loud pattern to fool the eye and detract from my fluffiness. :-) I did see a super cute string bikini that was either navy & white or black & white striped with orange string ties, but I'd have to lose 50 pounds to wear it and not look obscene. Oh well, my goal is to fit into the suits I bought last year and the year before anyway. Tee hee.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'll be going this weekend to pick up my suit jacket. Recently purchased the Aldridge suit and needed the jacket sleeves to be lengthened. I opened a Crew Card when purchasing the whole suit since they were offering a 10% discount and free overnight shipping. The jacket is still cut for a more narrow-chested fellow (I'm not a rail so that's why I opted for the Alridge and not the more modern a.k.a. "skinny" Ludlow style) but I will have to take it to a tailor for any major alterations. JCrew only offers to Crew Card holders free alterations to pant hems and/or sleeve lengths only. Also, the suit pants lack some of the nice little bespoke touches such as the slip guards on the inside of the waistline (which surprised me...I'd expect such a lack from Banana Republic but not from JCrew) but it's a nice suit and came at a reduced price since I purchased all three pieces at once (in charcoal grey/40S).
I know this is predominately a blog for the ladies but hope that maybe some guy perspective may prove beneficial. Thanks for all the great info and updates!

  19. The Watercolor Potpourri Ames dress that Vanessa has on on her blog "VJ in LA" is now online! Last night at the store I talked to someone on the red phone and they told me the dress was sold out - this morning it's online. Frustrating but happy I can get it!

    ReplyDelete
  20. If you’re interested in Watercolor potpourri Ames dress, you can find it available on line (all sizes) by searching item #22356.

  21. I may head to my nearest b&m tomorrow--that is, if I don't get snowed in. We're expecting over a foot of snow tonight and tomorrow. I really want to try on the Neapolitan pencil skirt, though!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Miss Penny Z--I returned a pair of shoes to Nordstroms after not wearing them at all for a year, and had no problems. It is possible that my transaction went smoothly because they were Nordstrom shoes, and I have a Nordstrom Credit Card, but I have heard and had only good things about their returns policy. Good luck on your return!

  23. Has anyone seen the Camden Brogues 23936 IRL? I was hoping for the light color from previews to be buff pink but the light ginger looks a bit yellow, which is not for me. Anyone?

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  24. Stephen,
Thanks for your post. I like reading about the guys perspective on J.Crew as well! My husband likes their clothes too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. dickfiddy the Buff Pink Suede ones are not in yet but you can preorder. I've ordered the lighter color as I took it as a nude color that would be more summery. I think the Blush Pink ones look really girly and cute too :) I've noticed the lighter color is selling pretty quickly but I have not seen them as my B&Ms don't get all the shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'll probably go in to do some returns, but I already checked out the new arrivals earlier this week.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Stephen,

That is nice that JC puts enough extra fabric in the men's jackets to have the sleeves lengthened. I really wish they would do that with the ladies' pants so we would be able to have the hem made longer. The pants that come in my size are not made in tall lengths. :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thank you Sweetsy and Glenda for replying. I appreciate it!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Leah and Simply J Crew, thanks for the info! I'm glad the watercolor potpourri dress isn't restricted to selected stores like my personal shopper told me. I have one on the way! Very excited.

But I would appreciate input and a possible reality check. I have the abstract rose strapless dress. Is this watercolor potpourri too similar?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I just got back from my B&M to check out the new arrivals, and left with quite a few things. My favorite by far was a neapolitan print silk dress. It has ruffles along the top and looks great belted. I fell in love with this dress, and it fit perfectly. I also left with a tissue garland tank, which is also very cute on...but on the way home I realized that my B$M had it marked $45 and online it is $42.50....sneaky, sneaky, J Crew..

    ReplyDelete
  31. probably not going in.

Genny, you can order anything from the red phone for the in-store price (you do have to pay shipping for sale items - unless you have $150 or more and can use the free shipping code right now)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Elaine,
Could you let me know whether the jeans you found are style 18140 (lighter wash) or 19368 (darker)? I have the lighter ones but I would totally get the darker ones if they are $30! I was not a huge skinny fan, but these look great on their own AND tucked into boots! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks for the info Elizabeth. I really like the light pink shoes so will call CS to preorder.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Leslie,
Could you please describe the style of neapolitan print silk dress? Is strapless?
    Did anyone see it online?

  35. Just wondering if someone could comment on the Cambridge Cable Turtleneck Sweater (ie. fit, quality,etc.)...considering whether or not it's worth purchasing during this 30% off promo??? TIA

  39. So..I went to Richmond, VA last weekend to visit a friend, I live in Chicago and it was well worth the trip. We decided to make the trek to Lynchburg, VA, I mean come on I'll never be going back to VA anytime soon. I called the JC clearance center before we left for the 2 hour trek and asked the gentleman, if they had a lot of goodies and he replied (to me screaming in return) that they were having a warehouse sale!! i almost cried with joy. Things I bought!!

forever cardigan: $20, summer cotton navy blazer $15,marjorie satin ballet flats $15, navy espadrilles $15, Cashmere crewneck cardigan $30, Nottingham boots: $50
cropped collarless black wool blazer: $40, navy wool harbor peacoat $50, camel long wool coat with gold lame buttons $50, Lea cardigan$10, frances cami $10
2 button down oxford shirts: $10

And we went late, got there at 3pm, imagine all the goodies I missed if I had gone at 10am...

Of course all this does not include the 15% student discount on top!

Can I just say, I would fly to VA just for their warehouse sale, I mean my guy friend bought $150 worth off sweaters wool, cashmere, thomas mason, and got about 10 items, ridiculous!!
Ladies, lemme tell ya it is well worth going all the way to Lynchburg!!

Can't wait to wear my new stuff this weekend...

  40. CrewBanana, rock the freaking casbah!!! Awesome haul, good for you guys!

Toddler was too rowdy today to do any browsing after I did my returns, but I did notice that the Neapolitan cardi has pink spots while the skirt's spots look distinctly more purply. They're both really pretty, but they are definitely different.

    ReplyDelete
  41. CrewBanana,
    Great post. Thanks for sharing.

  42. Has anyone noticed a change in the sizing of the skirts and pants? I usually get a size 0 but according to the size chart, it seems like I should be ordering size 2.

Does anyone know whether to order up for the patent leather joley heels? I've ok in the past by ordering my regular size but I ordered a pair of patent leather flats and they were way too tight. I remember some people mentioning to order up anything patent leather.

I really shouldn't be ordering anything more since I just received two coats - the plaza and griffin in the mail. I gotta say, I LOVE the griffin! I highly recommend. The wool is so nice and I didn't know what I would think of the A-line cut but it's really cute. It definitely fits TTS.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Simply Jcrew,

The Neapolitan Silk Dress is sleeveless, lined sheath, falls above the knee, 100% silk shell, with an understated group of ruffles along the top. It is style #22834 and is $168. I loooooove it!! It must be an in store only item? I couldn't find it online.. hope that helps! :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Charlotte: I am finding the opposite the sizing seems to be running larger on the pants and shorts. I have phoned for measurements on the Skimmer pants, Matchstick Vintage Jeans, Bermuda shorts, and the new non destroyed Scout chino, and they are running big, I have to size down.

silverlining: Thanks for your input on the Jaspe you also saved me a return.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Charlotte, I have the silver crackle Joleys and my usual size fits. Interesting about the advice on sizing up for patent, I've never heard that. I just got the patent tortoise flats and a half size down was perfect for me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks, Leslie for the details on The Neapolitan Silk Dress.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Man, talk about that famous consistent JC sizing, huh? I definitely have several pairs of size 0 pants and skirts but I've had to go "up" to size 26 (equiv. to size 0) in the matchstick cords. I still fit into my size 0 bottoms so I don't know what JC is doing now. I guess this will have to warrant a trip to the B&M for a size check. Now I really don't feel comfortable ordering anything from the FS. I think the joley patent heels are really cute but I'd hate to chance it on FS. Oh well. and it was a SA at a B&M who told me the patent leather shoes "run small."
The universe is curbing my spending spree. Thanks
    everyone for your advice!

  48. Stella: I have the regular cambridge turtleneck (instead of the ribbed one) and love it. It's so soft and comfy. In the v-neck and crewneck camb. cable sweaters, I wear an xs, but in the t-neck I got a small. I just don't like to feel restricted in my neck area. It fits perfectly. If you're getting a lighter color, however, be aware that it is slightly sheer. I have the bright seaside color and have to wear a cami underneath. Overall, I think it's definitely worth it, esp. with the 30% off promo. Hope this helps :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Charlotte: It is curbing my spending too, I ended up ordering nothing at least for now.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Has anyone seen the Glimmer Mist Tissue Tee (item 20675) on sale online? It's listed for $99.00. I really hope this is a typo. Who in their right mind would pay $99.00 for this tee shirt? I'm just saying....

    ReplyDelete
  51. I am headed down tomorrow. I have the neopolitan and watercolor skirts on hold, but I'm afraid the watercolor skirt is going to be too short. And I like that print better than the neopolitan.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh come on - 15.5 inches for the watercolor mini? That is too mini for me. I'd probably have gone for it otherwise (hard to tell until seen in person - but as it stands, the lack of length rules it out). What adult wears 15.5 inch skirts? Especially one that isn't designed to be worn with tights. I'm 5-3 and and even on me, if I sat down in such a skirt people would be seeing England, France and LBH's .... This is just part of my frustration with j.crew - I like their skirts, but they don't offer many choices in petites and their minis are too risque...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Erika, I've been thinking the same thing too. The Glimmer Mist Tissue Tee has been "marked down" to $99 in the Final Sale section for weeks. I've seen it everytime I found a great t-shirt for less than $25!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Went to B&M today and saw the cute canvas totes and almost got one. Was really dissappointed by the OFF white wool scarf with silver polkadots. It looks white on the website. But did order black captoed ballet flats in my size since the store was out. Left over at the Kenwood Towne Center store in Cincinnati are lots of the mocassin ankle boots, ts and cords. Surprisingly, the selection is wide and varied in size for tops. Shoes are limited to the mocs, and gold metallic heels and flats.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I agree wholeheartedly with skirt length complaints. Skirts should be longer than they are wide. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. AppGal: Thanks for your feedback!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Charlotte: so glad to hear your positive comments about the Griffin coat. I just ordered it in light berry - and can't wait to see it IRL. This color is definitely one of my favorites this season.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Stella: I'm so glad I could help. I really appreciate everyone else's comments and reviews so I'm glad I can return the favor.

I know I said that I don't need to shop anymore but it's really cold right now in NC and I really, really need some sweaters! I'd like to take advantage of the 30% off the cashmere sweaters but I've heard so many complaints about the quality of JC cashmere lately that I'm not sure it would be worth it even with the 30% off.

Banana's sweaters don't look that great or warm and I've read negative reviews about the gap sweaters. (ex. too thin) Besides neither BR or Gap have any decent sale going on. What to do!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm trying to be good so I'm going to resist temptation and stay away, but since I picked up a sweater on Extra30 today, I'll have a small fix before the next roll-out.

Stephen, thanks for the information...my DH has recently "discovered" J. Crew and he would like to hear the male perspective. Actually, if more Aficionados want to chime in, I always would love to hear what you have to say! (shh...it makes "selling" JCrew in our household easier...hahaha!)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Genny: Re. the destroyed matchstick jeans, you may want to try calling JC in Pioneer Place, Portland OR ((503) 228-2739). A couple of weeks ago they still had a decent selection of destroyed matchsticks in sizes from 27S on up (including a few 30 and 31)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Genny: the Asheville, NC also had some destroyed matchsticks on sale last weekend. They had size 29 and up, and they were only $19.99 (a few were marked $9.99, even!)

    ReplyDelete
  62. mommydearest, they're the lighter wash. i didn't see any of the darker ones in raleigh or durham. but appgal posted a place you might try, good luck!!

  63. Genny and Elaine, I went to the JC in Raleigh and didn't find much.

The bathing suits are quite annoying especially since it's snowing this weekend.

I curious about the Laporte draping blouse. Has anyone seen it in real life?

I'm also curious about the black dogwood earrings. I have dark hair and worry that they'll blend in.

  68. This morning between 8:15 and 8:40 EST I saw the Silk taffeta Blakely dress on sale for something like $45. All of the sizes were there when I saw it. I didn't order it because 1-I really need to cut back my spending and 2-I couldn't find any reviews about it but now I'm dying to know more about it. Does any one have it? Did anyone snag it at that great price this morning?

    ReplyDelete
  69. All the new prints are fabulous. Check out the J.Crew Collection store in South Beach if you are in the Miami area. You won't be disappointed - guaranteed. The Drapey wool Westcott shorts? To-die-for.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I was in my local J.Crew this evening and saw the Watercolor strapless dress and this new print that I didn't see online. It's like a blue/poppy version of the Floral Fan Perfect shirt from the fall. That print was available in the Perfect shirt, short-shorts and a strapless dress.
The one shoulder dresses are stunning.

I purchased a merino boat neck sweater in a charcoal color and a golden yellow color. I also purchased the Chambray shirt (I finally buckled down to get it!) and the Watercolor scarf.

I'm still thinking that I need the Black Blossom cardigan but I have 2 sweaters from J.Crew that are black and white. One from 3 years ago with like black and charcoal pomegranates or figs on it and the one from the fall with the black swirls. I'm just attracted to the black and white/cream colored cardigans. They look classic!

Do any of you ladies with wider feet have any trouble with the ballet flats? I LOVE having a printed or colored shoe to add some flair to an outfit and I have wide feet and was afraid to try any shoe on.

    Thanks!

I have the tortoise Joley's and they run TTS. I just ordered a pink pair on FS and hope it fits fine. The Pippa peep toes also run TTS. HTH!

  73. In terms of the sale section online, the washed silk pocket tee is not to be missed! I just got mine, and it's amazing. The silk has a very flat texture. Lies down underneath everything and glows just the right amount to dress up denim and highlight jewelry. Perfect neckline, not too low or high. It does run a bit large, so I'd recommend sizing down. But I LOVE it!!!

I'm getting another before the sale is over. Also got the cashmere crewneck cardigan. The heather hydrangea is not as purple as it seemed in some catalogs. Quite a true blue, but lovely. It fits TTS and is unbelievably soft. Not too sheer or wimpy. LOVE it.

  75. I went to bm today and I thought they had TONS OF great stuff and quite a few items not on the website?? I think the sizing is changing- last summer i wore between 0 and 2 and now 0 for sure. The mini skirts are SO cute (I am short) But I loved them. Also lovingthe Jaspe sweatshirt even though it is thin. Kind of thrown by some of the more "trendy' items like the flip flops with studs on them and the one shoulder dresses although still look nice!!

  78. I went to B&M last weekend and it was a breath of fresh air...ended up getting two Spring open cardis (one in resort gray - they also had melon, black and navy/nice length) along with an open light merino cardi in a mustard/yellow, great transitional sweater. I also love the sweet little makeup bags in the complimentary prints (that match new skirts) and so so like the option of the print selection across skirt, cardi or accessory. I didn't really want the print cardi, but loved the new prints so was nice to have option. I did tell the assistant that I still saw too many ruffles and she replied, "It just wouldn't be J. Crew without the ruffles"! Argh!!

  79. Jean,
I agree. Not impressed my the new arrivals. Made the long drive to a store last night with hubby. I was so underwhelmed. The 3 new things I wanted to see they did not have in store and the one item I did like ivory/silver scarf was disappointing to see in person (someone else mentioned this as well.) I only bought a little hair clip. It is the first time I have basically walked out of JCRew empty handed. (The sale section was the saddest I have ever seen in 11 years shopping JCRew!)I tried on a navy blue white floral blouse with a hint of pink. It was nice but did not excite me esp. for $78. The sales associates were all pretty bored too. Did not see many trying on or purchasing. I ended up just talking to a couple of them so that was the most excitement! Here's hoping March is looking up.

  80. For those lucky enough to visit a B&M while I'm stuck in the office this weekend--

Please let me know if you see any stray FS silk tops such as Evie, Frances, or Silk Streamers in the whisper pink/soft blossom color. They are s/o online. I'm looking for 0 or 2. TIA!

  82. Charlotte -

About the sizing of the joleys - I have two pairs, one cracked leather and one patent leather. Oddly, I did have to go a half size up for the patent leather ones. My regular size was just unbearably tight.

  83. Elizabeth: at the warehouse sale they had boxes and boxes accessories including necklaces, etc. i bought a navy blue headband with a white stripe for $1, but dont really wear necklaces so bypassed those boxes. the clearance had a little bit, but not much. Supposedly the warehouse sale only occurs once a month? or so I heard...but if you like shoes they had about 16 boxes..=) hope that helps!

  84. Went to KOP to check out new arrivals. I really like the Neopolitan print is is so awesome. My favorite besides the cardigan was the slik sheath dress, seriously amazing, price was $158 I think.

The grommet bags (Parlor) in black were ther, in black. I'm one of the crazy ones who actually liked it immediately, but the hobo is huge and the purse is too small for a everyday bag. I still like 'em though, very soft and liked the pocket configuration inside, especially the hobo size.

The Beacon "Tobo" was there, these are also huge.

The scalloped petal top looks much better in person, and the colors are great.

I stayed away from the ruffly crap. The knit fabrics are all soooo thin that the ruffles look like they are going to just rip off or create holes. It's ridiculous.

There was a cute 3/4 sleeved
henley painter tee with a tuxedo placket. Now you can depend on the painter tees, they are thick enough to not be scandalous.

Saw an adorable pink cotton lawn tank with pinker fabric pleats, don't see online, very very cute.

  85. I forgot, for Crewcuts fans... adorable Neopolitan parachute shift dress to match mommy!

Too many ruffles there, too, even more than my super-girly girl can handle!

For boys, slubby knit pants/sweats with drawstring that look extremely comfortable in grey and navy. The pirate map tee is so cute it has a red "X" on the back hahaha!

  86. tried on the tiered brique skirt today at the rockefeller center store and let me say, it is GORGEOUS on. it' somewhere between a mini and a pencil and it's stunning. the PS said everyone who tried it on love dit and i was very much prepared to hate it, but it's amazing. also tried the new favorite tanks and the slimmer cut is really nice. fits a little large (i'm typically a medium in similar styles and this one was a small definitely) but all in all, good stuff.

also, taking a stand for the merino linen camp cardigan: loved it, bought it, wore it. the slouchy style is great and it's way more versatile than you'd think.

  88. Kelly Ann (or anyone else who has tried on the tiered brique skirt): I seriously love the look of this skirt. However, JCrew bottoms are always too big for me. I'm a "true 0," and what they call a 0 is often way too big. Can anyone comment on how big or small this skirt is running? Thanks in advance :)

Laura (using my husband's gmail account--this isn't a man asking about a skirt!)

  89. Does anyone have picts posted or the item # of the neopolitan silk sheath? TIA :)

  90. I tried on lots of things today. I love the watercolor print, but the mini was just too short (which I knew it would be - 15.5", really???). I didn't expect to love the neopolitan skirt, but I did (TTS)! I wish this fit more into my lifestyle, but since it doesn't, I will wait and hope for a sale. I did not like the print in the cardi, though (size down). I thought the new merino open cardi was okay - I would buy on sale (size down). I was surprised that I really liked the tissue garland tank (TTS). I will wait a bit, though, and hope for a sale. I like the dot scarf and was not surprised it was ivory b/c of the color name online. While the vintage slub tees fit like last year's boyfriend (size down), I could see my cleevage through the shirt! And, I tried on the navy! Ridiculous - so it stayed. I was surprised that I liked the contrast pencil (TTS), but not sure why it costs so much. I will wait and hope for a sale. I normally hate the perfect fit shirts b/c they cling to every bump, but I really like the perfect fit cascade tee (sized up). I will be going back for one of these. (Btw, the wild plum looks great with the neopolitan skirt.) I still love the skimmer pant, but was disappointed that my b&m didn't get any of the new colors. I was hoping to see the violet dust and soft terracotta. Maybe next shipment. I did not like the light amythest favorite fit chinos. The color is somewhere between a lavender and pink. I liked the gabriella dresses - it's my first strapless dress. Love the tiers! I think it will be great right now with a cardi, tights, and boots and can see it with flip flops this summer. I can't imagine wearing it as a cover up, though - it makes a great dress. I also tried on a tunic top that comes with it's own belt that I don't see online. It reminds my of the popover, except it's much longer. I almost bought this, but I can't make it work right now since it's too long to wear a cardi with.

So, I bought the gabriella dress and the tangled treasures necklace. After seeing dinagideon model it on her blog, I couldn't resist when I saw one left in my store. Plus, the ps helping me today (my regular ps is at Disney World) and a manager both recently bought it and love it. Tip for those who have it - twist it together to make it more choker-like. Sorry this is such a long post, but I thought some might be interested in items.

  91. Jon-

Definitely runs big. It sits on your true waist and I wore a 0 when I'm usually about a 2 and there was no squeezing. I believe they had 00 in the store though!

  92. Desert Flower

I don't see a strapless Neopolitan dress online, do you mean the watercolor floral?

Anyhoo, the dress is silk sleeveless with a gorgeous self-ruffle in front and skinny fabric belt. I can't remember if it's scoop or v-neck sorry.

Very nice dress, though. I didn't compare the print among the other pieces (cardi or pencil skirt) either so cannot say exactly the colorway except it's brownish, grayish and purply/pinkish brushstrokes on a creamy background. Great colors!

  93. Thanks, Kelly Ann. I didn't know there was such a thing as a 00! I usually only shop online and haven't seen that before. I'll definitely check out my local store. Thanks so much!

  94. Jon, i sized down in this skirt. I preferred the look of it at the waist even though the item description states it's to be worn at low waist. If wanting to wear the skirt according to JCrew's description and with a loser fit, i would say to try your regular size.

  95. Mags, yes I got the watercolor and neapolitan confused. Sorry! I picked up the skirt and cardigan in the neapolitan print so I definitely don't need the dress. I am curious what it looks like, I hope someone takes a pic or does a review.

  96. I just posted picture the neapolitan dress.

  97. i was at san francisco center today - there were a TON of bling button cardis in the light purple and the light gray, mostly in medium. also a ton of dolce shawl and cable sweaters, and lots of matchstick cords. this morning there was also a black flannel banquette and a gray velvet eden, both in 4. HTH someone.

  98. Hi Aficionadas,
I'm hopeing you can help me out! So I ordered the Cleo platform sandals about a month ago and recieved them today. I was first sent the wrong color (soft graphite instead of burnished brown) but ended up liking the color I was sent. Then, I looked on the wedge part and there was a huge scratch on the suede. They are backordered until the 19th, but I was hoping maybe one of you have seen them in you BM?? The item number is 20286!! If you see them, please post back. Thanks!

  99. math teacher: I enjoyed reading your reviews they help me out alot. LE Canvas has a slub cotton v-neck Item # 38570-0X40 that is similar to the JC one and it is only $19.50, maybe this one will work for you.

  100. Simply J Crew, thanks for posting so many pics of the new arrivals! Many of these were not available in my store. Can you tell me what the orange cardigan is that you have on in two pictures? I'm looking for a spring/summer v-neck cardigan.

The dot skirt looks nice on you! Did you pick up any of these new items?

  101. Desert Flower,

    It's Featherweight cashmere short-sleeve cardigan

    $148.00 item 21833 in copper dust (S).

  102. Desert Flower,
I bought two cardigans (neapolitan and black/white), neapolitan pencil skirt and a pair of dark wash matchsticks.

All the dresses were a little too short for me - I didn't get any. I didn't like "one shoulder dress" on me, but the dress is very cute.
I also bought "the sepia" skirt and tweed contessa dress (22931) using the red phone. I suspect that this dress will be too short for me (see Cari's review on her blog: http://isnotfashion.blogspot.com/).

I am in love with the new "dot" skirt - it's simply gorgeous - I will wait for sale.
I already own Pembridge-dot pencil skirt (#99737) and dazzling dots pencil skirt (#11804).

  103. SimplyJCrew: Which matchstick jeans did you get the new Vintage ones for $108.00 or the dark rinse? I am interested in hearing how the Vintage ones fit if you tried them on.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Simply JCrew, I know what you mean. J. Crew dresses are frequently too short for me. I ordered the strapless watercolor that you tried on, and I'm hoping there is enough hem for my tailor to let down to make it more in my comfort zone. She's done that for me with other dresses and skirts, but not everything comes with enough hem.

  105. casual-crew,
I got the ones for $98. It’s my first JC pair of jeans and I am very excited…
I am curvy and JC’s jeans cut doesn’t really work for me (I wear AG, Paige, Joes, M+O).

  106. Thanks SimplyJCrew, I think you will like the JC jeans they are very comfortable. The Vintage ones #23489 are running big according to the measurements I received from CS, I cannot make up my mind about which size to order.

  107. Jon and Kelly Ann,

I tried on the tiered brique skirt and while it looked pretty on, its short length makes it look even more like a pom-pom skirt. I don't want to hear comments about looking like a cheerleader... not a great professional comment!

Scored at BR next door though -- cashmere-merino wool blend hoodies for $16.50, v-neck sweater in same material was $9.75 using gap card for additional 25% off! To boot, it's not even final sale! JC, take that!

  108. Simply JCrew:

Thanks for all the great pics. Could you please tell me what the khaki dress with what looked like black stones was? Is that something available online?

    Thanks!

  112. Thanks for the great pictures SimplyJCrew!

The Onyx Chandelier Dress looks to be the Bijou Top (Item 21840) made into a dress.

  113. dickyfiddy - did you have luck ordering the Camden brogues in a pink suede? I asked my personal shopper about their being in a pink color after seeing Elizabeth's post, and she was quite emphatic that the Camden brogues are only available in those three colors - she checked future orders, and asked other PSes and the pre-sale team as well.

I had the same issue with the color, and she said the Camden brogues are much closer to the cream color that is on the front page/Jenna's picks than how it appears on the product page.
