Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

As promised, I am making this feature a weekly "sale watch" post, in order to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend (to take advantage of the "additional 40% off" sale items or to see the new Fall arrivals), maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few sale items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts, which by the way "thank you!" :) I really love how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Good Morning! My store in Orlando had a ton of the Emily Blouses, Piper Tanks, Jamie Jackets, and Flowey Jersey Bateau Dresses, all at an addtional 40% off...407-226-9732...they open at 10:00 am EST. :)

I am looking for: The Starlet Jacket size 4...any color will do, but I would prefer the blue one called Bright Azul. I am also looking for the Joelle Cami size 0, in any color except Navy, and the Joelle Blouse, size 2 in any color but Sweet Papaya. Oh yeh...the Solid Kelly Jacket in Bright Flame size Small. THANK YOU!!!!

  2. The Orlando store also had flip flops marked down to $4.99, and I imagine they are also reduced the extra 40% now. :)

  3. I have a question re: final sale stuff that has an additional percent off. If the starting price is say $69.99, and state sales tax is for single items over $50, and there is 40% off, do I still pay sales tax? After the percent off, the item would be $41.99 (below $50) but before the 40% it would be $69.99 (over $50 therefore taxable). Basically, would there be sales tax on that item? Hope I didn't confuse you! Anyone who could help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  4. Anon, I think its based on the final price so I think you do not pay tax.

Also anyone looking for the lobster necklace? Its at the Columbus Circle store in NYC

    ReplyDelete
  5. Sales tax is determined by the state and local tax laws. In TN, you are taxed on the amount before coupon. But we have sales tax on everything but shipping and handling....

You might want to do a search on sales tax laws for your state.

  6. To answer the thread question: I ran into the store last night. I wasn't really too excited. All sale stuff except for T's and shorts were sent back. The fall stuff just wasn't that exciting yet. Give me a month and I will be into the fall stuff more.

Off topis, DH and DD gave me a giftcard to Vineyard Vines to celebrate my new job. I ran into the store last night and they have a huge sale. So many cute things. In store, a lot of items were half off. I *think* they had free shipping going right now. I bought some cute capris and a tee.

  7. I am looking for the Seaglass Piper tank size 8I wish I lived close to a store but I do not-- so thanks for looking anyone who does go out:)

  8. Tired Memphian: OOO vineyard vines sale? Those are dangerous words to tell me!

    ReplyDelete
  9. blumre, yup. We got some cute kids stuff too. Between the crewcuts and the vineyard vines sales, we have him set with shirts once he is in 2t. (he's in about 18-24 months)

They have lightweight cotton tee's now which are more fitted. They had the cutest white one with a blue whale on the center chest. Sold out everywhere in sizes other than XS :o( I bought one with a beach umbrella instead. That one isn't online but they have a bunch at the Memphis store.

My store also does free alterations. Not just hemming but major alterations. This is good because most of the shirts are long.

  10. Oh Tired Memphian: I am in Greenwich CT for the weekend which is pretty much the Preppy Capital of the WORLD. I will be going over to the store today esp since its right across the street from Jcrew... OH DEAR. THis is trouble--- and by trouble I mean double trouble!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hello everyone! I'll be visiting a J.Crew... to check out their new sizing ;o) - has anyone else noticed that they are offering size 00?! I noticed it in the favorite fit boot cords, so Im not sure if it's for all their items (just pants, etc.), but I like it!

Some people were commenting a few posts back on J.Crew's fit changes these past years, and I've noticed it too. I haven't bought pants there in a while because the 0 is too big for me (?!?!) but now I'll have to try the 00s and possibly begin a whole new round of exorbitant spending at J.Crew again heehee.

The sale section isn't that big online but over half the store was on sale in store.

I got these yesterday. The picture doesn't look that cute but I really love them in person. They should be getting fall stuff next week.

  14. FFM: I was also looking for the Joelle blouse, then I found this silk blouse at Old Navy for $15, which honestly was a lot more flattering on me than the Joelle:

  15. Anon @10:49: Thank you for the link...I will definitely check it out...I have been surprised by quite a few items at Old Navy recently, and the prices are great, as well. :)

  16. I stopped into the Tysons II store yesterday (Thurs.) afternoon and found a lot of the flowy bateau dress in all three colors (red, slate and navy), metallic brushstroke sweaters (not the cardigan) in beige and navy, a couple of flamenco dot cardigans in yellow/white, chiffon trim tissue tank in yellow, slub cotton crewneck tees in pink and navy, a bunch of linen ruffle V-necks in navy, a couple of shirred v-neck tissue tees in orange and yellow, solid white beach tunics, rosette tees, a few amelia tanks in white & silk linen pintuck cardigans in peach and a TON of shorts (bermuda, critter, mariposa print, and I don't remember the others!) and also some casbah print Jessie blouses.

    Whew...

I was also able to score a turquoise bubble necklace for $60 (!!!) that someone actually RETURNED!!!

  17. Hi, this isn't a sale question, but I am hoping that someone can tell me how the Tartine cardigan fits.

Specifically, small usually fits me best (I'm an hourglass with 6 shoulders and bust but 2 torso) but sometimes if I want to wear a cardi buttoned a small pulls at the bust.

I have to order online so I'm really hoping someone can tell me how Tartine is fitting. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hexicon: I tried it in the store. I'd suggest sizing down if you want that stretchy, fitted look. Are you planning to wear it unlayered like one of the models in the catalog? I sometimes take S in J.Crew cardigans, but for the Tartine I'm going with the XS. Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If it helps, I'm 34B, and have narrow shoulders. For the piper tanks, I wear a 0 but for fitted tops with side zips, I need a 2.

    ReplyDelete
  20. FFM: Agreed about the ON comment! I haven't even really looked at one lately because I remember images from a few years ago, of the same basics in a rainbow of colors piled onto tables! But now the new collections seem to stand out more, very cool.

Also - does anyone have problems with the J.Crew knit cotton tees shrinking? I find, over time, my shirts seem to get shorter and shorter? Maybe I am buying lower and lower pants, but I hope not! I haven't been inadvertently flashing people, always a good sign!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous@ 11:39, thanks for the info. If you're sizing down for a snug look then I think I'm safe staying in a small

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hexicon: I just placed an order for the Tartine cardigan (in three colors). I agree with Anon - I also veer between S and XS, but went with the XS in this cardigan. CS rep was nice enough to check the sizing and colors for me at their store. I nearly made a mistake of ordering the bright rhubarb, which is not a true red like the deep persimmon.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ffm: e&smomma didn't mention it, and she just went to the tysons store, but 2 weeks ago they had a ton of the starlet jacket in both colors. Have you tried there? Again, it was awhile ago, but maybe still worth a shot?

I just went to the pentagon city (VA) jcrew and the sale was VERY picked over. some flowy jersey bateau dresses in the red color, XS, S and L, one of the eyelet shirts, one of the joelle shirts, can't remember the size, but it was sweet papaya (sorry FFM!). that was about it of note. am going to write about what of the new stuff I tried in the other post...:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am wondering if the florentine print short sleeve sweater is marked down at anyone's store? I know blumre is also looking for the pants in that print. The skirt was on sale at the pentagon city VA store, but I didn't see the pants or the sweater anywhere!

    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just returned from my local mall in NJ, and almost all the sale stuff that was there last week is gone. I'm thinking it got shipped back to the factory, because half the space it was in is now dedicated to fall items. There were some pieces on sale, mostly newer sale items, but not alot to choose from. The 40% off sale still applies, for both men and women, but I didn't see much worth buying.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The sale at the San Francisco Westfield location was also pretty picked over--no cafe capris or dresses, mostly tees and a few other tops. They did have some flowy bateau dresses, as well as a couple Jamie jackets (which I did get)!

Good luck all--will write about the new fall stuff in other post.

    ReplyDelete
  27. kater: Thanks for letting me know about Tyson's...I just called and apparently they already sent them back, which seems to be the case for all of the stores, at least on this jacket...it appears as if it is only available online at this point...UGH!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I might check out king of prussia this weekend. I really want to try on the cord pencil skirt to see if I need to order the petite or if a regular 0 will be ok, as I did with the cord mini last fall. The length of the pencil skirt will be harder to cheat than a mini, though. If I can't get out of the city, I'll just go to the one on chesnut (downtown philly). It's going to be like 90 degrees, blah, and I don't feel like walking around downtown in the heat.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Fabulous Mommy: I saw several of the hot pink (soft fuchsia) Starlet Jacket in several sizes (I'm pretty sure they had 4s) at Georgetown (DC) store. You can try calling them. I have it and I love it - good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  30. kellyanne311: Thank you! Can you please tell me how the fit on the shoulders is? I take a 4 in the Tulip and Linen Cotton Casa Rosa, but a 6 in the San Telmo, so I am not sure which size to get the Starlet in...any advice? Also, how much was it on sale for at the store? Thank you!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. kater: the florentine print short sleeve sweater was not on sale in my store yesterday morning.

    ReplyDelete
  32. thank you math teacher! I really want that sweater, but I refuse to pay full-price for it!

    ReplyDelete
  33. kellyanne311: They are all gone from Georgetown, too...sigh...I really don't want to make a purchase from the web...

    ReplyDelete
  34. ffm,

I got a cute skirt at old navy a couple days ago. It is similar to the dark fog belle skirt, but the wide waistband sits higer, so there's a slightly different shape. It was $29.50. I can't find the item online, but it is similar to this skirt in that it has two buttons and zip in the back. It's not as flowy, though. Two front pleats and two darts in the back.

    ReplyDelete
  35. heather: I actually know what skirt you are talking about and I have it in the Gray and the Black...josie posted about it a couple of weeks ago, and I bought them both for $18 each (they were $20, and I had a 10% off coupon). I really like them...I wore the black skirt with a white tank (tucked in), my silver Capri Sandals, and my skinny silver belt around the waist and silver jewelry...it was just SO casual chic and comfy, too! :) Thanks for thinking of me!

    ReplyDelete
  36. ffm,

ooh, you got a deal, good for you! I think I will wear my skirt (grey) to dinner tonight, with a chocolate brown tank (not scoopneck, more like a shell but jersey/t-shirt material), silver flats, and either a royal blue or brown belt. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. heather: Very cute! :) Thanks again for posting to me about the skirt...too bad it isn't available online so that others can see it. I also wish it came in more colors. I want to try on the J.Crew Cotton Taffeta Belle Skirt so that I can compare the two. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I posted this in another thread, but I put a FLAMENCO DOT POPOVER BLOUSE in a SIZE 6 on hold for "Alexis" at the KOP store: 610-265-0210. They also had a size 4 there if anyone is interested.

I remembered someone asking for that in another thread, but I couldn't find it when I searched. I hope whoever it was gets it, because it's only $35.99 now :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Everyone keeps talking about the taffeta belle skirt ... I didn't see the belle one at my local store but there was a vicki one. It looks the same as the belle, except it had a wide ribbon around the waist that you could tie into a bow and a couple of pleats. It was so cute and I snapped it up right away, in the blue! You should also check that one out FFM, if you are interested in the other skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  40. FFM: I just received my Starlet jacket this morning. I got the 0 and it fits like my size 0 black san telmo. A 2 may be better. The buttons aren't bad at all, and I have no problems with them. Considering that I ordered it online over the weekend, it was a pleasant surprise to receive it today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. michelle: I think that Blumre was looking for it...she hasn't been on since this morning, but I'm sure she'll check back in later today. It was so nice of you to hold it! :)

vivian: now I'm thinking I may need a 6 in the Starlet if it fits like the San Telmo...so it's not as forgiving or wide in the shoulders as the Tulip? Can you give the shoulder measurement so I can figure up to the 4 and 6?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well it seems like ebay dealers have also found some things - there has been a lot of new postings. Hopefully people can find what they are looking for there as well.

    ReplyDelete
  43. FFM: OK, let me get the jacket and the measurements for you. Hang on!

    ReplyDelete
  44. vivian: Out of all your jackets you have received lately...Starlet, San Telmo, Polka Dot San Telmo, Tulip, and Fiona...which is your favorite? Is the Starlet worth the price, or shuold I look for it to get marked down further?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Fashion Question: What do you guys think about metallic driving mocs - like bronze, silver, gold. Are they sort of going out of style or do you consider them staples? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  46. FFM: Definitely not as "forgiving" as the Tulip. It's also shorter than what I expected (thank God I didn't get the petite size).

Darn, so shoulder seam...how do I measure the shoulders? It's a one piece all the way to the sleeves.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hexicon or anybody else who has seen the super 120s suiting in store - you said that all of the 120s is in the sale except for the abby jacket and the pencil skirt, have you seen the super 120s 2 or 3 button blazers on sale anywhere? either online or in a store? I'm looking to get my hands on a couple of blazers since i have bought the ludlow trousers and the suiting dresses already....thanks!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. FFM: My faves are the 1) polka dot san telmo, 2) Fiona and 3) flame tulip. Frankly, the Starlet is the bottom of the list.

    ReplyDelete
  49. FFM: Here is the starlet on ebay in the pink in size 6. 120286750060

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hey Vivian: just measure from side to side at where you think the shoulders hit...does that make sense? If you can't get it I will try to call CS tomorrow morning before the phone lines get to busy...I just thought I'd ask since I don't have the time or patience to be on hold for another 25 minutes. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. FFM: It's pretty eye-catching but the fit on me could be better. Do you want the measurements? I'm not sure how to measure the shoulder as there are no seams.

    ReplyDelete
  52. ffm: just my two cents on the starlet. I would wait for it to go down a little more. it looks like it's fully stocked online, and I believe it in this case because when I was making my rounds of the DC area crews two weeks ago, there were a lot left in stores. And, lately j.crew has seemed to be doing 20% private sales or coupons a week or two after new collections come out. So hopefully we'll get one of those again soon, and you can at least get some more off the price.

    just my opinion though!

    ReplyDelete
  53. It was a breeze ordering online. I was lucky with this order!
OK, the shoulder is 15. The tighter part is the bust area. Lifting my arms is a little constricting.

    ReplyDelete
  54. kater: You;re right! I paid $109 inclg tax for it and if the fit is better I won't mind. But with the fit as it is, I may even return it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. FFM: The bust is a little less than 33. With the adjustable belt, I think going up a size may not be a bad idea. There will be more gathers when the belt is tied, without losing the cinched waist.

    ReplyDelete
  56. any thoughts on metallic mocs before i buy it now on ebay??? should I go for a more traditional color instead? metallics - fad or staple??

    ReplyDelete
  57. jcrewbug - for me, metallics = staple. Especially the more burnished metallics that jcrew features. I literally have gold and silver ballet flats in boxes stockpiles for when they don't sell them anymore as I plan on wearing them for the rest of my life.

yes I am a little psycho. but whatever! :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. vivian: THANK YOU FOR THE MEASUREMENTS!!!! I think a 4 would work since the shoulder would probably be 15.5, but a 6 would be less constricting with the 16 shoulder.

vivian and kater: thanks for the opinions on the Starlet...I was afraid the price is still a little too high. I thought the stores had marked it down lower, but now they don't have any. I will wait for it to get reduced even more! :)

jcrewbug: Thank you for the Ebay listing...I wish it was the Bright Azul, so I'm going to wait for it to get marked down more at J.Crew. Thanks so much for finding it for me!:) I really appreciate it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. kater haha. I love it. I like the bronze maisie. I'm considering that pair and the black yorks. I really like the new black lizzies but I'm kind of scared they will sell out before going on sale. What do you think? Should I just get the black yorks and the bronze maisies and call it a day?

    ReplyDelete
  60. jcrewbug: Go for the metallics...they are a staple, and according to the stylist on the You Look Fab blog, they are still very popular in Paris, which means we will see them for at least another year or two here. :) I hope this helps...I personally wear metallics alot.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Does anyone know if the Atlanta J. Crew stores have the extra 40% off? And how long is this going to last, just this weekend or until the end of next weekend (hopefully!)?

    ReplyDelete
  62. FFM: I think that's a wise decision.

DH just saw me in the Starlet and he wished it was more tapered at the waist and more flattering. That's his 2 cents' worth :) I think this one's going back.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Doesn't this look familiar?

I may have to take a trip to Old Navy this weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  64. jcrewbug: I have silver ballet flats and sandals and think they're perfect. I love to wear them in place of white sandals in the summer and they just go with everything. I plan on buying the penelope flats in silver when they go on sale - I hope they don't sell out!

    ReplyDelete
  65. love the yorks! would definitely get those in black at a good price. They look really similar to the new "lizzie". I also really like the bronze maisies. The color is great. I think I like the york style a little bit better (has a longer tongue or something), but that is the only negative I can think of!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anon @4:07: if you call the store they will be able to tell you if they are having it, and possibly how long it will last. :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. katherine: let me know what you think when you go...quality, fit, etc...thanks for the links! :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks guys. I'm excited to get my metallics and see what I can wear them with. And I'll probably get the black yorks too. Pretty versatile I think. Lizzies will have to wait til they show up at low prices on ebay next year:)

    ReplyDelete
  69. hey everyone. just got back from b&m j crew stores at columbus circle, 5th ave and soho.

blumre: the Lobster Necklace is still there at the columbus circle store. not much of anything else from the sale section except for Kayla Blouses, Piper Tanks and Jamie Sweater Jackets, plus shorts and lots of Matchstick Jeans in white.

5th ave store is pretty picked over. they do have some Printed Linen Antonia skirt in Flame for 79.99 plus 40% off.

soho store doesn't have much of anything.

no new Fall jewelry until next week. bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  70. katherine, ha! I just ordered the argyle ones, plus an orange "swing" cardigan, plus a teal patent leather belt, and a silver glitter clutch for $105! Finally, am excited about online shopping again! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  71. FFM: Thanks for the info about Blumre ... I'm glad I remembered correctly. I was beginning to think I was crazy ;) I also looked for the starlet for you, but they have already sent them back. I hope you find one!

Speaking of the KOP store, I have to say that I now do not care that it is a toll plus an extra 20 minutes farther than the Willow Grove store. They were SO NICE, and the store was really well-stocked; they even have shoes. I also now have a personal shopper named Michelle ;) Totally my new store.

    I tried on several items:

Pique Andrea Jacket in Honey Glaze: I did think this was cute, but the bigger pockets on the bottom and smaller on top did needlessly emphasize my middle, IMO. The shape was adorable, and I love the details though; if it sticks around long enough to go on sale, I might have to pick it up.

Dream Ruffle Herringbone Cardigan: I love this so much I ordered one in the camel/charcoal (they only had the graphite in store). The shape was perfect, the material was soft, and the details were adorable - a double ruffle collar and a chiffon rose with little rhinestones in it. The pic on the website doesn't do it justice; it's much nicer in person.

Pencil Denim Skirt: I loved this too, and bought it as well. The fit is fabulous; I haven't had a denim skirt look that good on me, perhaps ever. It's just stretchy enough, and the shape and dark wash make it easy to dress up. I love the side vents in the back; I think that helps the shape be more flattering. I did size up, but I have thick thighs. The SA told me that some people said it ran big, so who knows.

Cashmere Schoolgirl Cardigan: I really liked the shape of this sweater, I just couldn't afford to spend $175 on it. If it hangs around to go on sale, I will definitely pick it up. They have it in lots of great colors. I found it true to size.

High Heel Flare in the new dark wash: I really liked these jeans. They were very flattering on me; slim through the hip and thigh, and then flaring just above the knee, almost like a modified trouser. I want to wait for the price on them to come down too though; if it doesn't though, I will still purchase them because let's face it, good denim is hard to find.

I tried on this ruffle cardigan, and it's not on the website and I didn't catch the name of it. It's really cute though; it was navy and graphite in a herringbone pattern, with a navy ruffle that went along the collar and down one side of the front. The buttons were little rhinestones. Very pretty, but more fitted than the Dream Herringbone. I left it, but I called my personal shopper after I got home and she is sending it to me (free shipping) so I can compare it to the Dream Herringbone and pick which one I like better. It's going to be a tough choice!

Herringbone Fiona: I had such high hopes for this jacket, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED the ruffles. I had the same experience as others though - my size was just too boxy, and when I sized down the shoulders were a bit tight. I could get away with it, but I couldn't really wear much underneath it. If it is heavily discounted later I might consider it, but not at full price. I tried it on in the gray, but they also had a pink and a very pretty orange that I was eyeing. Man, I wish I got one of the canvas Fionas :P

So that's my story for now. I hope it's helpful :)

  73. Sorry, it was the denim straight skirt, not the high-waisted denim skirt. The one I bought was item 94850.

    ReplyDelete
  74. melanie: Did you post a pic of a similar skirt from a Gossip Girls photo? That was REALLY cute...don't remember seeing that at my store, either. My store doesn't seem to get alot of the good stuff...not sure why...bummer that the website is so messed up now.

    ReplyDelete
  75. FFM: Yup, that was the same skirt! The J.Crew version is less-pleaty than that picture and drapes a bit more straightly (less puffy at hips).

I echo the sentiments of someone who said they could have sized down and it just would have hit higher in the thigh. I liked the longer length. It reminded me of that post we had with one skirt that everyone snapped up, where people were surprised at how short it really was.

    ReplyDelete
  76. melanie: That was the Dark Chambray Swing Skirt that we discussed seen Here . I'm actually the one who advised sizing up in order to get the length to be right...so this skirt is that way, as well...interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  77. hi ffm: sorry to hear georgetown sold out! if you do find one, based on your description, i would guess you'd be a 4. i got the 2 and found it true to size. it is a little short in length, but i think that is intentional. it would look nice with a top under it that is a little longer than the jacket. i got it for $169.99 minus 20%, but if you can find it now you should get the 40% off. they also let me use my 10% student discount on top of all that, so it was a great deal compared to the retail price of $238. i hope you can find it!

  79. Hi all,

A quick note before I leave for the weekend.

The greenwich CT store has lots left. They have the lots of candace jackets in all sizes. The domino skirt is available for 79.99 in a size 6 (they have three). Plus 40% off that. They had quite a few shorts, mostly larger sizes.

The mens section had great polos on sale and the rugy sweater was on sale for 49.99.

The white trouser jeans were $69.99 they had a 2,4,and I believe some 8s. They also had the white boot cut in 33 and 32.

There were tons and I mean tons of jamie jackets.

I tried the dress on (the jersey one, cant remember they name) They have one S left... all the rest were Ms... I wasnt so into it.

    I HAD A FIELD DAY.

Ok I am off for the weekend. I will miss you all and I will have lots of catching up to do when I get back.

Have a great weekend all. Talk to you sunday!

  80. blumre: I hope you catch this post before you leave...michelle has a Flamenco Dot Blouse on hold under the name "Alexis" at KOP: Here is her post:

"I posted this in another thread, but I put a FLAMENCO DOT POPOVER BLOUSE in a SIZE 6 on hold for "Alexis" at the KOP store: 610-265-0210. They also had a size 4 there if anyone is interested.

I remembered someone asking for that in another thread, but I couldn't find it when I searched. I hope whoever it was gets it, because it's only $35.99 now :)"

    Weren't you looking for one?

    ReplyDelete
  81. FFM: No i was discussing it but it wasn't me. Its not my style. I cant do the loose shirt look... with big boobs you can end up looking pregnant ;)

Have a great weekend FFM and thanks for thinking of me. That was so sweet! I hope the someone who is looking for it gets it! You're awesome, as always.

P.S. the Linen florentine pencil skirt was on sale in lots of sizes at the greenwich ct store!

  83. I got my Starlit jacket in azul on Wed. I really like it. I had to have it when the 30% off came up last weekend. Love the buttons and the fit...I got my usual jacket size and it is fine:)

Since I didn't get 2 other items that I was shortshipped I decided this would make up (somewhat) for that:)

    ReplyDelete
  84. michelle: it is Tired Memphian who is looking for the Flamenco in a size 6 and not Blumre. :)

  87. Wow Michelle you're excitement is pouring out of my monitor! Congratulations on your shopping trip. I have the denim straight skirt from last season & really love it BUT I put it in the dryer & BUTT is all I think about now when I put it on. It is so tight! I hang dry just about everything & for some reason I thought this skirt could take it. I must've been 1/2 asleep or something. It's a great skirt!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I just spoke to a CS @ the Towson store & they're having 40% off too. I had a quick conversation with her & she said they did have merchandise they were holding in the back for the sale this weekend so I KNEW they were whording when I had to ask for the Jamie Jacket! Anyway, I'm picking up my
    White Denim Trouser item 92792
    tonight, yeah!!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Has anyone seen the cloque pencil skirt in person? I wish my store had it - I'd like to try it on, because it kind of appeals to me.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Sort of random, but I just saw someone wearing that ruffle trench coat from J.Crew in a yogurt commercial. I always recognize J.Crew clothes on people on the street or in commercials, etc. Anyone else do this?

    ReplyDelete
  91. katherine: YOU ARE NOT ALONE! ;) Alexis even had a post about seeing J.Crew everywhere... Click HERE . :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. rach: those white pants are really cute! i would get them too if i didn't get new white pants last year (and it is hard to find occasions to wear white pants very often). by the way, can anyone tell me how you insert links like that into posts on the blog? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  93. kellyanne311: Alexis directed me to this site HTTP. When the window opens select "HTML Links" from the menu on the left side. When a pge appears select "Create Hyperlinks". The "TryIt Editor" page is displayed and this is where you can test your links.

    ReplyDelete
  94. kellyanne311: Instructions are found Here and also Here . I personally found the first link the most helpful in figuring out how to do it. Hope this helps! :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thanks FFM! Its ridiculous how J.Crew clothes just stick out from the rest, especially after stalking the website.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Rach: I can't help my enthusiasm, I love fall clothes ;) That skirt is great though. It's going to look good with tall leather boots!

    ReplyDelete
  97. FFM/Rach: Thanks, but when I'm trying, it says Your HTML cannot be accepted: Tag is not allowed:

    Any ideas? Thanks!

  99. Yes, with the boots!

I remembered I was not going to get the white denim pants unless they were less than $30 but I get on here & read all these comments & get the shopping bug. Plus they may look good with the cherry blossom Frances blouse (I have yet to wear!). No big deal, I can live with or without them. Plus I just took a break to hang clothes to dry & am thinking what am I doing buying more summer clothing???

  101. Okay, sorry, I'm going to try a test link again:

    I just bought this

    argyle sweater
and can't wait to get it!

    ReplyDelete
  102. ffm/rach: got it working. thanks for the help :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. Good! I couldn't explain it very well!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I like it! I purchased the
    Cotton Argyle Hoodie item 92678
earlier in the season. It's pretty casual :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. rach: i never noticed that item before. it is cute and different than the typical argyle sweater!

    ReplyDelete
  106. kellyanne311: YAY!!! The link looks great! :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. If you had a choice between the navy jamie and the navy candace, which would you get?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Definitely the Candace - I found the Jamie to be a bit roomy in the bust, which then looked strange when I belted it, like it puffed my small frame up. Kinda like the complaints ladies have had about the Lucia jackets, you know what I mean? The Candace looks a bit more classic, and lays better, IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  109. jcrewbug: I would pick the Navy Jamie. :)

FYI EVERYONE: I just used EXTRA20 successfully on a MOCK CHECKOUT. :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. katherine and everyone: I actually have a J.Crew siting from channel surfing the other night...it's from QVC, and the L'Occitane Spokeswoman has the Starlet Jacket on in Fushcia and one of the Mosaic Cuff Bracelets, too. I would venture to say that the rest of her outfit is from J.Crew, as well. Here is the link...you need to click on the Videos Button and then On Air Presentation to play the video. :)

    A82006 - L'Occitane Super-Size Shea Body Lotion 16.9 oz.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Thanks for your comments! I'm torn because I love the orance candace and its cheaper. Problem is that I've actually never tried the Jamie on so....I'm wondering if that Greenwich store that blumre mentioned has navy candaces along with jamies. I can't call right now cause my fiance would know what I'm doing and he doesn't approve completely of my obsession. Will anyone call and let me know? Navy Candace small on hold for Rachael? I think I'll have to get that one cause I haven't tried the Jamie and its more in my $$ range. Crazy request I know.

    ReplyDelete
  112. jcrewbug: I called Greenwich for you and the SA said they have shipped everything back already, even the Jamie AND Candace Jackets...sorry! If you want to call to double check tomorrow the number is 203-661-5181.

    ReplyDelete
  113. jcrewbug: I bought the Jamie Jacket & LOVE it. I don't look good in the cropped, swingy jackets. The Jamie is about 22-1/2" long so it is definitely not a short jacket. Looks like the Candace & the Jamie are the same gauge cotton. The Jamie looks prettier on, in my opinion, than the Candace because of the neck and sleeves. The sleeves are 'finished' & fit on the arm nicely. I got it in a small & there is still a little bulk but it's manageable belted or with the belt tied in the back of the jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  114. jcrewbug: I went to pick up the Jamie today, and I ended up not getting it. I just didn't love it. It was kind of bulky on me. I'm 5'4" hourglass-shaped with some slight pearishness going on. I am a 36B. I really liked the top of the jacket - it reminded me of the Katie sweater. But the tie thing only looked ok if it was just right and I didn't move around. I tried the orange Candace before and liked the cleaner line, and the boxiness worked on me. I didn't like the orange color, but if they had it in navy I probably would have bought it.

I think the bottom line with the Jamie (and the Candace for that matter) is that it really depends on your figure. I hope that helps!

  116. FFM: Many thanks for calling!!! You rock!! I'm sitting right across from my fiance at a coffeehouse. Luckily he can't see me blogging. Thanks again!

And thanks to everyone for their input. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions! I'm guessing I'd probably be happy with either. Have the Candace so I know it works. If Jamie is final sale and I can't try it on then I think I'll wait for the price to drop a bit. I'm still wondering how I'm going to pay my next bill anyway :)

    Thanks again!

  117. I love you guys! I get back from drinks/dinner and you all have been calling stores for each other because of fiances that just don't understand (and trust me, I get that one). This blog is the best!

  118. Hey Alexis, Blumre, and All! This is almost the exact Blue Madras Plaid of my Ann Taylor Loft Jacket that I just purchased for $6. My jacket is structured like the Mini Patchwork Madras Jacket and Linen Cotton Casa Rosa, but is the blue Madras like the Fiona and the shorts in this Ann Taylor Loft pic...it is just GORGEOUS! :) See the Blue Madras in this pic from Ann Taylor Loft (it's the blue plaid like the shorts) seen Here .

    ReplyDelete
  119. UGH...my links keep working wrong tonight...the shorts are the Blue Ones at number 10 on the far right hand side of the page. :)

    ReplyDelete
  120. ffm: thanks for sharing with us the qvc video of the l'occitane spokeswoman and her j crew outfit lol! i actually did try on this jacket (in fuschia) about two weeks ago, when it was marked down and additional 25% off at that time. i tried a size 0, and the trunk area is fine, but the sleeves are a bit snug. this jacket is okay if you're wearing something sleeveless underneath, other than that, i would size up if anyone is planning on wearing a long sleeve shirt/blouse underneath.

    ReplyDelete
  121. jcrewbug: I agree with that it depends on your body type. The jamie doesn't work well for petites. It made me look short and wide. Plus it doesnt look that good unbuttoned. It works really well if you are tall and slim. I saw a tall girl trying it on and wished i looked like that! I love jcrew sweaters and would buy all of them. But I had to pass on the jamie jacket.
(However, If you are still interested, rockerfeller center in NYC still has several jamie jacket in size small.)

    ReplyDelete
  122. i got Jamie today! I couldn't resist, it was 40$ (40% plus educator) I also got Candace in Brilliant Blue a few weeks ago for 37$. Do I need both? Absolutely not. I agree with the comments on fit. Too good a deal to pass up and I love those sweater jackets. I am 5'6 have kinda broad shoulders and no bust-it works for me. Candance is boxier and cute in other ways. Why is it so hard to make these choices.....Totally laughed about the husband comment-I am a sneaky one too with my fiance, wish I could register at Jcrew vs. crate and barrell and always try to beat him home from work to beat the ups man. Keep up all the blogging-this site rocks.

    ReplyDelete
  123. ps. store with a few jamie jackets left in NY 631-360-8938-have it saved in my cell-under JC

    ReplyDelete
  124. Well, I'll give those stores in NY a call tomorrow. If I get a Jamie I'll just blame it on fate:) I'm still trying to figure out how to explain the Orlando Florida J Crew charge to my fiance. Doesn't know about the blog - how could I possibly know to call Orlando?? Haha.

I know this is terrible but here are my strategies for dodging my fiance's dissapproving glare:
    1) Ship to my neighbor's (a friend of mine) or my parents house. I alternate so neither one thinks I'm that obsessed
    2) Use my J Crew card as much as possible then use the "envelope system" to pay off my bill. Basically pocketing a 20 here and there like at the grocery store.

Yikes, maybe I'm a terrible person. Maybe I'm just a dedicated J Crew follower, a diehard. I mean when I get engaged I can't just set that part of me aside, right??

    haha

    ReplyDelete
  125. Katherine: I totally know that Yoplait commercial you are referring to with the Gayle Trench coat. There was also a girl on some show on ABC Family (American Teen something or another) and I noticed she was wearing a sweater from J.Crew too. I see J.Crew everywhere too! :)

JCrewbug: I laughed at your strategies for dodging disapproving glares from your fiance- I know exactly what you mean!!! ;)

  127. More sightings: the kids I was babysitting were watching some tv show and the teacher was wearing sweaters from J.Crew. First she had a navy and white print cardigan (tangiers, something like that). Then she was wearing this turquoise peacock print cardigan i got last fall that I wear all the time. I told the kids, "I have that sweater!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  128. The J Crew in downtown SF (Westfield) is also offering 40% off, but the sale racks are almost empty. They appear to have sent everything back already.

    ReplyDelete
  129. If anyone sees the Italian Jacquard Fiona Jacket in a size 2 or 4 please please please let me know!!!

    ReplyDelete
  130. hi, everyone. i love the references to tv shoes and commercials with jcrew items worn! i see these all the time, and i haven't noticed anyone mention the alltell wireless commercial on here. the mother is wearing the yellow slub cotton square ruffle top. every time i see that commercial i watch it just because of that. how ridiculous... :)

    ReplyDelete
  131. Katherine, I have that peacock sweater too! I bought almost everything in that print last year--shoes, umbrella, tote, hairclip, sash . . . . but I don't wear it all at once.

I think the costume designer for "Veronica Mars" must shop at J.Crew a lot, because I've seen several items in the show. I watch the show often on DVD and always crack up when I see the slutty evil stepmother in my leopard cardi :-)

    ReplyDelete
  132. Hexicon - I love that sweater so much, it's so versatile. I wear it in the fall with jeans, and in the spring and cooler summer days over a black knit dress to "dress it up." I also have the headband which I refuse to wear with the sweater though =)

    ReplyDelete
  133. Look what I just found - this appears to be the sweater in pink:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-J-Crew-FALL-08-Peacock-Print-Merino-Cardi-%2F-M_W0QQitemZ290248469830QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL0807251112r31728

But it says "J.Crew Factory store Fall 08"

So either the extras got shipped there or they're making a cheaper version (also cheaper quality, most likely) for the outlet stores.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I went to the King of Prussia store today. I tried on the stretch cord pencil skirt in honey glaze, in sizes 0 and 2. Both were a little big on the waist a just below the knee. The 0 fit better, but after talking to a sales associate, I decided to red phone order it in 0P, because I think the 20" length will work better on me than the regular 22".

Also, they had bootcut cords in dark kelly green (currently online, that color is only available in the matchstick). 2S seems to fit the same as last season, still too long on me, oh well.

Sale section (+40% off) was small and picked over, they had almost 2 dozen pairs of 5" chino shorts in sour lemon, but not one size 2. :(

The herringbone fiona is lovely. They had it in charcoal and orange. I tried on a size 0, and it was swimming on me, unfortunately.

I did not like the Andrea jacket in person. The seaming on the collar looks a little weird to me, and I don't like the square brushed gold buttons.

There were some really cute silk headbands (patterns and solids).

    ReplyDelete
  135. there was also a julianne dress in grey with ivory dots. It's cute but pretty shapeless (although the description online for the solid version says the bottom has a slight a-line). probably need to wear a belt and/or a blazer or cardigan over top of it to give it more structure.

The striped annette blouse is really oversized, it's like a men's shirt. It's too long and even the xsmall would have too much leftover if tucking into a pencil skirt. maybe the petite is better.

  136. I am VERY disappointed that JCrew has taken most/all of the summer items out of the stores and replaced it will fall items. I know others are excited for fall stuff but it is WAY TO EARLY for me and I was hoping to get to two b & m stores for the first time in a year on holiday next week...Monday...and get some summer deals. I don't even know if I will go to JCrew at MOA b/c I want deals not fall stuff. I remember their great July sales and even Aug. ones. I do not think this is a smart marketing move for JCrew. Unless people get sucked into buying fall stuff early which I do not......

    ReplyDelete
  137. Anon @5:46pm: I am so sorry that they are sending the summer sale items back before your vacation...I know the SA in Orlando said that whatever the stores do have left will remain at 40% off until it sells out...maybe you will still find a few nice things at EXTRA great prices. :) I hope you are at least able to find the Watercolor Floral Rosette Tank. :)

    ReplyDelete
  138. Anon@5:46, Is that you jagjag2?

    ReplyDelete
  139. I went to J.Crew shop nearby. The shop returned all summer stuff. I found a orange wool jacket looks like Fiona! This jacket is not on online and catalog yet. I hope it will be available online soon.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Thanks FFM for the thoughts! I think I will call the JCrew and see if they have the rosette tank on hand....I know there is a list of stores I want to go to as well as hit the new Nickelodeon (sp?--it's too early)rides with my daughter! Heard they are good:)

    ReplyDelete
  141. I went yesterday. Keep in mind we have a very small store (no shoes, bathing suits, etc). They had a tiny selection of 40% off sale stuff. I picked up a couple of ribbed tanks for next year. Hardly any guy sale stuff. They had a good bit of the fall stuff out. I'm loving the colors. I liked a couple of dresses but the sizing seemed a bit bigger than usual. I'm a 0 there but a ruffled color dress literally was hanging off me. My favorite reps there told me the dresses were going to be cut bigger this fall. Not sure if this is true but that is what they said. I picked up some long sleeve tees and a white cotton tee w/ two rossettes on the collar. They did not have any fall guy stuff. Lots of cardis, velvet blazers. I thought the collection looked dresser than past seasons for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Montgomery Mall has NOTHING left.
Tysons on the other hand has tons of good stuff:
here is what I was able to walk away with ( after I swore I am done with buying summer stuff:)):
-Jeweled leather Capri sandals in Black,$79.99, came down to $40 after 40% off and %15 educators d/c
-Lucaya metallic espadrilles in silver, same as above around $40
-Wavy glass-bead necklace in black, $39.99 minus all applicable d/c.
Also several 1" enamel bangles- blue, gold , down to $5.
This is my 2nd time to Tyson's since they reopened, and they DID apply educators discount (no questions asked) to the final sale items. I posted previously they flat refused to combine discounts on my last trip aand I called CS on my way home and they were supossed to call Tyson's store to rectify. Looks like they DID! It works now! Hee-hey!Feels like a small victory!
Anyway the store had tons of tees, shorts, garden skirts, piper tanks, chiffon trim tanks, jersey bateau dresses, capri sandals, daphne sandals and amangsanett(sp?) totes on sale. Not much jewelry. :(
No fall jewelry at all and none of the Tratine cardigans I was dying to try on. I passed on Jersey Bateau dress b/c they had it in S only ( I need XS) and b/c the fit is not as flatering on full chested girls.
Loved the new green tweed skirt, will get it next time. Needed to size down for the glove fit: to 2 instead of 4. It's gorgeous!
    Sorry for the long post!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Katherine:
I saw this exact cardigan in Factory stores back in spring and I passed on it. The material was very thin and flimsy. Not the same quality as regular J Crew clothes.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I own the Wavy glass-bead necklace in black, that Slastena mentioned in her comment, and its totally worth the price! I loved it so much that I got the matching bracelet (in black and the papaya color). I would get the necklace in papaya as well, but they didn't have any left. :)
