J.Crew sent this email with the subject line of "Final sale. New styles added." Now you know I love the Crew, but I have to just say "c'mon now J.Crew!"
First, the sale didn't have that many new styles added. Second, there is no mention in the email about the "Additional 20% Off" sale. (Personally, I would lead with this point instead of the additional styles point.) Also, the sale section is getting really boring. I am just tired of seeing that Fiona Jacket in Pale Almond (click here for page) taunting me at its $29.99 price to only see it's still $null.
I still love visiting their brick and mortar stores, but their online site is just not working for me. Which is sad because I use to shop at their website daily (I know- it was an addiction for me!)
What do you think of this email? Did you think the sale section was full of "new styles" as the promotional email suggests?
all I have to say is WTF????
ReplyDeleteI agree Alexis, the online site is no longer working for me. at all.
do you guys remember those catalogs they used to send when you hadn't purchased in awhile that had those $20 off an $80 purchase coupon in them? I wonder if we are all going to get them because we've stopped shopping online!!!!!!!
They seem to be desperate. I am ready for fall.
ReplyDeleteI still find the sale page navigation very frustrating, especially when one price is listed, you click on it, and another price is listed on the product page! (For instance, the 5" chino shorts say $26.50, but if you click on the link, the product page says $39.50).
ReplyDeleteThe fiona canvas jacket isn't even available, why is there a page!? The drop down menu doesn't allow you to choose any options, what the heck.
How come I am not getting these e-mails? I used to get them all the time before the upgrade and now nothing!
ReplyDeletethe online site is working for me. but nothing worth buying is there. frankly I am so annoyed right now that I would rather not buy!
The mens sale section is still all messed up... the pictures/prices don't always match STILL... after all these weeks.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get any emails either. Boo to J. Crew!
ReplyDeleteKater: I loved those $20 off $80 coupons! Now those were great codes!!! :)
ReplyDeleteBlumre:
ReplyDeleteThe 20% coupon has not been emailed out yet really (It will not reach everyone) and the More Sale Itmes Added email is rolling.. which means a few hundred to few thousand are sent every hour until everyone gets one.. no particular order. Which began early this morning.
Final Sale is a joke, & a bad one at that. Thumbs down! How can you go from 30% to 20% & not markdown the merchandise?
ReplyDeleteI remember last year being slow like this too. I spent alot in Spring & June & then my addiction subsided until Fall.
Last year's summer merchandise was great! I wear my cute ruffle cover-ups all the time.
From the catalog: The Double-Serge Tuesday Trench looks appealing to me, along with the Herringbone Ecole & the skirt shown with the Cashmere Bateau Sweater. (I had to peek @ the site!) Of course I will probably be deflated when I see the items in person. That's what happens ALOT after seeing the merchandise in person ;(
This new website has totally backfired on them. I will not go near it, after having such huge issues with my last order. I can't believe they are willing to lose all of us dedicated shoppers! I have to say that I am not really into shopping at the B & M stores. I always found better stuff online and always see the stuff no one wants in the stores. Either that or items that are the wrong size or in bad colors. And this new % off code is SUCH a scam!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry this off topic but why would anyone feel the need to create another JCrew blog? I dare not post there as I don't want to encourage it! Sorry, but this has become my one-stop-daily read & I don't want to worry about checking another site. Yes, it's America and competition is good but Alexis is doing such a fine job with this site.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm not writing this in a mean-spirited way at all. I just feel inner panic swelling! I might miss something if there is more than one blog to visit! Argh!! :)
Leigh: come on over!
Does anyone think it is so interesting how several of the Fall 08 items have already found themselves on ebay--alot of the jackets, etc, in any size you want. Ugh, it is hard to compete with huge "buyers for ebay" when new items come out.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 9:35 AM: I use to prefer online shopping with J.Crew too but its too risky now. I do feel like the new code is a bit of a scam considering its the same merchandise from last week that had the 30% off sale (like Rach and others have pointed out.)
ReplyDeleteDear JCrew:
ReplyDeleteThats nice. But I didnt receive any of the e-mails sent out since your system debacle. I sent you an e-mail asking to make sure that I am on your list. So while you list is "rolling." It seems that I have "rolled" right off of your list since you updated your website. And this is just one of the ways you have offended me in the last few weeks. I dont want to start on lost orders, being billed twice, bring over billed, receiving items I never ordered, and promotional GCs being canceled, refund gift cards being sent to the wrong address, and delayed refunds. The very least you could do is make sure my e-mail address is on your list since I spend a few $100 bucks with you a month. I would hate to see you lose that, especially in this economy!
How dare you give me some BS excuse when you don't even know the problem. Oh yea, and I have e-mailed contactus asking to be added to the e-mail list. So far I haven't gotten promotional e-mail from you, yet I have gotten about six from Banana Republic and Saks. Maybe I should take my business there, they see m to actually want it.
Laverte: That is unbelievable that the mass resellers had access to the new stuff already. I wonder how they were able to since many of us can't even order from the new catalog.
ReplyDeleteBlumre: Your letter to Jcrew is AWESOME! It made me laugh (the rolled off your list part) and be angry at J.Crew at the same time. I really don't understand how their mailing system works.
Leigh does have some different (and great!) content though...
ReplyDeleteWedding dress sneak peak, interview with Mickey Drexler, fave items from 07, etc.
We love your blog Alexis, but I just think "the more, the merrier"!
I occaisonally post about jcrew purchases in my livejournal, but all my entries are locked/friends only. It's more for my own inventory than anything else; sometimes I make those posts read-only because I figure no one else wants to read them. I guess that's different from someone trying to recreate this blog... :P
ReplyDeleteI found this blog when it first started, and I know there was another blog call jcrewaholics which might be older than this one. I like this one better, though. I don't think it's a big deal to have blogs talking about the same thing, as long as people aren't ripping off each other's style/approach/etc.
Alexis: I am thrilled that I could make you laugh.
ReplyDeleteAgain thank god for humor...
Anyone feel like waling up to a JCrew and kicking it? Cause I do right now!
It looks like I might be able to pick my gift cards up in the store. I would like that. I need a Jcrew break. this is just too much! I was on the phone with them last night for 57 minutes and 42 seconds! That's absurd!
read-only = private post... I need more coffee. Have an important meeting this afternoon and I should probably be prepping, not obsessing over jcrew! :P
ReplyDeleteI think we shop too much at J.Crew to qualify for the discount codes. I remember last year the mailman left two catalogs in my mailbox. They were exactly the same but one was for me and one was for my neighbor. Her's had a free shipping insert, mine didn't. I also get the $150 free shipping e-mails vs. the $100.00 ones. Very disappointing.
ReplyDeletePlease, no more summer sale e-mails. I bought the giraffe necklace, a tie jacket, and a cashmere cardigan in three separate orders and all of these didn't even exist in their warehouse. What is the point of buying anything if J.Crew doesn't even know what is really available? I lost my trust.
I am getting tired of the JC sale page as well. I wonder if you have the same feeling - I open the sale page and after taking a glance at the mish mash of shoes and swimming suits I just close it.
I stopped calling CS regarding my rush order as well. They finally called the distribution center and gave me the tracking number for Fedex and, surprise, it didn't work. I am becomming quite indifferent about it. No point of calling again. Nobody knows anything anyway. I am leaving on vacation tomorrow and quite honestly need a break from J.Crew.
I think I needed to vent my frustration this morning :)
I'm on Eastern Standard Time like Alexis & I didn't receive the latest email yet. Most times they arrive after 11 a.m. EST. Another (not-so-interesting) mystery about JCrew.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to the Towson store today. I'll try to come back with something worth saying. Without the names of the merchandise firmly set in my head it will be hard (since I don't have a catalog yet to immerse myself in).
FYI: Also note, just b/c an item says it is in stock and you place the order online does not mean it is really in stock and you will get it...Also, told to me by CS rep who tried to place an order this a.m.
ReplyDeletenot to get offtopic, but are there two blogs called jcrewaholics? becuase the old one I was thinking of is different from the one someone posted a link to in the fall preview post. (http://jcrewaholic.blogspot.com/ and http://jcrewaholics.com/)
ReplyDeleteWhatev, I'm really not trying to get sucked into 2 or 3 jcrew blogs. I'll just stick with the one. LOL
Just wanted to share an email I sent this AM to contact@jcrew.com
ReplyDeleteI am so frustrated about not being able to get items that are said to be available!
Dear J.Crew
Please consider Chattanooga, TN for your next J.Crew store. CBL company can support you, and as I can no longer afford with gas to drive to ATL, and no longer trust the website for online purchases, it seems as if there must be a store in Chattanooga. I am sure many others feel the same way, and I am happy to bring everyone together with a petition showing how we desperately need a J.Crew B&M store.
Until the website works again,
Christy Fazio
ReplyDeletejcrewaholicsRUS This site has been around the longest (I think).
The jcrewaholics site was well written. I felt she gave good insight into the clothes, what to wear, etc. The host had to resign her post & it has not really been blogged on in a regular manner since the spring. Thus, why I searched & was more than happy to find this blog. By the way, I did not mean to use my comments to start a war against any other bloggers than Alexis. I just feel it is a shame as to create another post when A)Alexis will post on specifics if you ask her to, B)this new blog IS similiar to this one.
Sorry for the many posts not about clothing today. Have a nice day :)
Sky: I know what you mean about the sale page- I am tired of it as well. I don't even check all the links anymore.
ReplyDeleteChristy: I hope J.Crew will take your letter into consideration. I am sure there are lots of customers in your area that would like to frequent JCrew more, but can't because of the distance.
Rach: Good luck at the Towson store today! Hopefully there are some new fall items available to look out. :)
Anonymous at 9:59 AM: Thanks for the heads up about "in stock".
laverte: I just looked at eBay, and you are right, the ecole jacket is there in every color and size. What really bugs me is that they are marked at $100 ABOVE the catalog price. I can rationalize (but not condone)that when the items are sold out, but ... they are going to be available in a few days (God willing). Crazy crazy stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing(s) I am going to buy when the fall stuff comes out is the tartine sweater. I even had a dream about it last night, LOL!
OMG THERE IS GOING TO BE A HERRINGBONE FIONA!! I'm sorry if I missed this from a previous post or something, but I just saw a pic of it on eBay (grumble grumble) and it looks divine. I am going to have to investigate that when it comes out :)
ReplyDeleteThe herringbone fiona-like is already in the stores and it comes in 3 colors - (I beleive) sweet potato, bright rhubarb, and heather graphite (see ecole herringbone). I wonder if they made it last minute after the popularity of canvas fiona and that is why it was not featured in the catalog...
ReplyDeleteI was going to post the SAME thing heather (9:26am) said about the 5" chino shorts. They show up as regular price $39.50 IN ALL COLORS when you go to the product page. Why are they listed in the sale section??
ReplyDeleteGAH.
Michelle: I looked up the HERRINGBONE FIONA and she is BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait to see it in person at the store. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how resellers get a hold of the new merchandise so quickly! I always wonder if they have some "inside" connection.
alexis, maybe there is an inside connection re: ebay items. It might even be blessed by the powers that be at J Crew.... not only could they make a lot of money without the coupon codes and sale prices, but they can also drum up anticipation for the new pieces.
ReplyDeleteAfter the last few weeks I would not be surprised if the scenario above is true. I simply don't trust the company anymore.
I am so tempted to purchase some of what's been in my shopping cart for a while now that there's that additional off, but it really does scare me that there are so many discrepancies showing up when you place things in your cart or even just go to the product page (different prices, color desired isn't one of the "select colors" that are on sale, etc., or that goshdarned "$null" shows up!!!).
ReplyDeleteBut just to share about my experience when I went to my local B&M store last night - that herringbone Fiona IS gorgeous! The azalea/pink and the yellowish/orange are reeeealllly sweet. Just a fair warning though, I don't know if it was just me, but I had to size down big time for it. Now I'm not sure if I lost THAT much weight, but I had to size down from a 10 to a 6! If I did, yay for me! But I find that it's just a little boxier/roomier than most J.Crew jackets.
The Ecole jacket in the velvet is super cute on the hanger, but once tried on, adds substantial volume up top. 'May be the material. I will have to go back and give it a second chance, though. ;) I am, however, looking forward to the Ecole in the herringbone. The SA at the store said that she thinks that this Ecole jacket will be their Bella this year.
Laura1: J.Crew would definitely make a lot more money if they were backing some resellers! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am so disappointed in JCrew. 2/3 of my order from July 3 is still in limbo, and the latest email I got from CS says they're not sure if one of the items will ever be available. Having 1/2 of a suit is not very useful. And wait times on the phone for more than 20 minutes? What is this, an airline?
ReplyDeleteMy clothing budget is going to be skewing a lot more to Banana and Ann Taylor this fall!
you know the more I think about it, the more offended I am that JCrew had the audacity to post here (see the 9:33 a.m. post) without telling us how they will be helping everyone out who has lost money/orders/time with this fiasco. What are they doing to fix this? Instead they took the time to reply to a relatively insignificant matter and ignore everyone else. HOW DARE THEY!? We deserve some answers!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, Alexis, you're not the only one who looks at jcrew.com daily! :) Ditto!
ReplyDeleteI went to a brick and mortar today and saw some great sherpa hoodies. Bought one in deep blue. They're super soft and really great - cute pocket detail. The friendly staff told me their big shipment was coming in tomorrow (Thurs, 7/24), and that the catalogs were being mailed out then as well. The manager was kind enough to get me a catalog from the back.
The sale might as well be over, as far as I'm concerned. Let's just jump into Fall.
I just looked at the fall fiona on ebay. GAH! it is fabulous!
ReplyDeletedoes anyone remember how much they are in the b&m stores?
I too am thinking it was a last minute addition to the collection based on the popularity of the spring fiona...:)
Eddie & Strecth's Momma: Glad to hear the Herringbone Fiona is just as pretty in person as it is in the picture. :) I can't wait to see it!!!
ReplyDeleteJenna: That is awful about your orders. I hope they figure out how to send you your items soon! :)
Blumre: Good catch that the comment was from J.Crew- I didn't even notice it. But I can understand your frustration. Lost orders are a bit more important than emails. ;)
Sweetmint: I happy to hear I am not the only one checking the site daily! ;)
sweetmint - those sherpa hoodies are divine! I'm definitely going to purchase one =)
ReplyDeleteRegarding the herringbone fiona on ebay - I don't know how that seller "natedac" does it, but she/he always has a bunch of stuff before anyone else - but also charges EXTREMELY high prices, plus high shipping, in my opinion.
ReplyDeletekater: The herringbone fiona was priced at $198 at the Pentagon City J.Crew; I would imagine it's the same everywhere else. BUT! Please do be careful and look at the price tag. I saw one (and only one!) that was priced at $230 on the tag.
ReplyDeletethank you e&smomma! I don't think I'm going to run out and buy it right away, although I'm really tempted.
ReplyDeleteI added up everything I want (so far) from the fall catalog, and I have a lot of saving to do! It's a bit said really...;)
meant SAD...can't type...
ReplyDeleteFunny - the sherpa hoodie was the only item I purchased yesterday. I didn't get the ecole, not even the new fiona (too itchy for me - I had a v-neck t-shirt on) but the hoodie in honey glaze. It does have very nice pockets and it is super soft. It gets wrinkled easly though.
ReplyDeleteI found the ecole to be true to size but the herringbone fiona was on the large side. I usually get 4 or 6 in jackets but needed 2 in this one.
I too added up everything I want from the catalog and I will be saving up for a bit. Yikes! I start a new job next month and all my suits are no longer necessary (a blessing really since J Crew suits are so expensive). But now I need business casual. I have tons of cute pants thanks to a great BR sale a while back. I need fun jackets and sweaters and shirts that I can dress up for work and dress down on the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even started thinking about shoes or jewelry :-O
blumre, I too noticed the post from JCrew and am shocked that they would not try to explain in more detail how they plan to make up for all the f-ups and unfulfilled orders!
ReplyDeleteBtw, I never get my emails either and I even re-registered after the "system screw-up", I mean "update".
Laura1: I TOTALLY agree with you about jcrew having something to do with the leaks on eBay. I know that some high-end designers do that with the "IT" bags to trump up hype and demand for it.
I've decided that J Crew believes we are so crazy about their merchandise that it really doesn't matter how badly they screw up, we'll just keep coming back. And listen to us, one second we're yelling about their unreliability and the next we say, "Can't wait for Fall." ( I too am guilty of that.)
All I'm saying is that I just wish they had some accountability for their recent actions but there is NONE.
I haev a dumb question.... I am very hot natured but like jackets to accessorize (who here doesn't it seems!). Would you wear the canvas Fiona year round or just three seasons?
ReplyDeleteI am getting very close to buying a navy and/or almond fiona off ebay. I love the herringbone but Memphis, TN doesn't get soooo cold that I would wear it more than a few months. I'd also likely take it off in the office while my canvas and sweater jackets seem to be ok.
ANY input is really aprpeciated!!!
Has anyone purchased the Rustic French Terry Pullover? I have been debating and debating, and now the cream is out of stock online (no B&M store nearby) and I am down to the bright rhubard. But 76.48 after shipping and tax and I am still not sold. I kept thinking it would go on sale, but we all know how that is going..
ReplyDeleteAny advice I would appreciate it!
New items added? Where? Admittedly, I don't shop the online site for men's or children's clothes, but there doesn't seem to be anything new for women, meaning me! Additionally, I saw a deco dots Zoey dress in my size on the online site early this morning. Seconds later, I telephoned J Crew (doesn't seem prudent to order online right now). And of course, the dress wasn't there in my size. It's hard for me to believe it disappeared THAT quickly. In fact, they had 0s and 2s, and I would have bought either one, but when I called, six was the smallest size. Grrrr.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I haev resorted to EBay for most items now. I am a sucker and placed two orders last Friday. I ordered the Phoebe shirt in white and then a pretty silk tank and the katie jacket that I never got from my last order.
ReplyDeleteI will get both shirts today from the separate orders. I have been told to check back in 7 business days regarding the navy katie. They screwed it up the LAST time and I never got it. Don't put it back on the site. On my order summary, the katie is labelled "partial shipment"...... Apparently the warehouse doesn't know where the Katie jackets are according to CS.
I have been scouring ebay for people who order final sale and it doesn't fit. I have received some good items that way.
I am just really fed up with the site. I don't have a large B&M here but have excellent SA's. Last winter, I shopped mostly at BR and will shop their site or store anytime. J Crew is really falling apart and thinks that this is normal. It is July 23rd and they still haven't fixed their issues. Instead, they just deny that they have any in public...
Tired Memphian: It looks like there are lots of great items in the new catalog. I am very excited! :) Congrats on the new job next month too!
ReplyDeleteSWJ: I wonder why you are not getting emails after registering with them multiple times. It seems like "bad busienss" on J.Crew's part to not keep a customer who wants to be informed, informed.
You are also right that many of us have been frustrated with J.Crew but unwilling to leave altogether (like myself!) ;) But I have read many comments on this blog that some customers are really done with J.Crew. Which is completely understandable.
I just can't help but think that J.Crew doesn't mind losing some of its customers (e.g. bargain shoppers) in order to attract and gain more lucrative (e.g. willing to pay the higher price tag) ones.
Tired Memphian: I thought the same thing about the Fiona Jacket. Even though I have the Papaya one, I plan on wearing it Spring through early Fall. If I had the other colors (e.g. Pale Almond, Navy) I would rock those all year. I think wearing a white long sleeve tee under the jacket during the Fall/Spring would look great. I think a Black turtleneck during the winter would look great too! :)
dear j.crew - if the warehouse doesn't know where items are, perhaps you shouldn't list them for sale on the web site? Just a friendly tip...
ReplyDeleteand tiredmemphian: I would totally wear the Fiona 3 seasons, and probably will myself. I have the navy one, and live in d.c., which also doesn't get very cold for more than a month or two each year. Am definitely going to wear it into early november at least!
swj - I am guilty of that too. I haven't purchased anything from J Crew in a few months, but that was a combination of being a broke graduate student, losing the no min shipping coupons, and not being interested in a lot of the sale stuff. Didn't stop me from looking at the website everyday, however.
ReplyDeleteNow I am getting ready to start a new job in August and could really use some work clothes. I keeping coming to this blog everyday, hoping that things have improved, but of course they haven't. I will be happy to forgive J. Crew, once they get their act together, but I am not going to waste my sanity and the little money I have on items that may never arrive.
That being said, I am excited for J. Crew's fall clothes! *shakes head sheepishly*
tired memphian: I have the fiona in papaya and I will definitely wear mine for 3 seasons, although summer here in SC is SO HOT, that I won't break it out often. Plus, I'm a teacher, so I don't work during the summer (well, 9 weeks of the summer). Even though the papaya seems like a spring color, it stays hot here through October, so I'll probably wear it as long as its somewhat warm out. I agree with Alexis that it will look good with a long sleeve tee under it in cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteAnd for those wondering about new items, I keep an eye on the girls crewcuts items, and I haven't really seen anything new there, either. I love their girls' clothes (the boys are pretty general) and so does my niece and her mommy! :)
laverte: I've seen the Rustic French Terry Pullover in person, and I love this fabric, but there was another top similar to this on sale: Rumple French Terry Hoodie #94431 marked at 39.99 plus 25% off the last time I checked. I would wait for it to be marked down, but if you really love it, just called J Crew and ask for free shipping. Their policy is free shipping on regular priced items, and if they said you need to call from red phone, tell them there is no b&m store nearby, so they should honor your request.
ReplyDeleteOh and the three quarter sleeves on these French Terry are narrow (tight) on the arm, so sizing up is recommended.
Does anyone recognize this sweater? I really like it, but it appears to be either a new fall item or one from last year, and I wanted to get feedback before I bought it. Thank you :)
ReplyDeletemichelle: it's from last year! I believe it's called the toulouse? if not toulouse, tulieries? definitely something french and artsy...:)
ReplyDeleteI never got a chance to try it on, but I definitely wanted it!
Thanks kater! It's the toulouse, and I was able to find some pics of it :) Now that I see them though, I'm not sure I like it, haha. Hmmm decisions ...
ReplyDeletemichelle: what size is it? if you don't take it, I might...:)
ReplyDeleteI just saw pics of the herringbone bella from last year, and I fell in love with it. In case anyone else is interested, there is a gray herringbone bella in a size 14 on ebay for $49.99 - what a steal! (I'm not the seller - if I had one of those I would NOT be selling it!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input! I think I could really work the non-papaya for most of the year. Now, I will have to break down and order them off ebay......sigh. But it is about the only jacket I really want right now.
ReplyDeleteI did order the liana a month ago and wore it for the first time today. I have had so many compliments on it :o)
kater: it's a small. I was looking at the sleeves, and they look long and narrow. I am 5'4" and tend to have trouble with long sleeved jackets. It's really cute though.
ReplyDeletedang! definitely not a small! thanks though michelle - it really is super cute.
ReplyDeletei tried to order a dress on the final sales page and it wouldnt let me use the extra20 promo code. i had to pay full price but i like the dress so much that i was ok with it. I called them and they mentioned they are having problems with their site from the upgrade they did.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog!!
renonevada: Thanks for the nice comment about the blog! I hope CS was able to honor the 20% off while you were on the phone with them. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is just plain insulting to us customers! Nothing is new....maybe they updated one or two items but I can't see any new items per say.....
ReplyDeleteThe seahorse necklace is $99.00 now. Does anyone own it? Is it nice in person?
ReplyDeletesky: I didn't like the seahorse as much as the giraffe, mainly because the beads on the seahorse are clear. You can see the stringing thread through the beads, and for some reason that bothered me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know about the sale price, because that necklace definitely isn't in the sale section!
I am offended at how patronizing the emails and item descriptions are...do they think we are really that stupid? I cannot BELIEVE they sent this type of email out AGAIN..."our final sale just got better"...you've GOT to be KIDDING me! It's all just beyond absurd at this point...I didn't even look for anything online today, or at the store, really...I will probably wait for a few of the new Fall items to go on sale in a month or two before buying anything...it's too hot in Florida in July, August, and September to really wear much of it anyways, so I am not going to rush out and pay full price for anything in the catalog right now (I don't think so anyways, but I do REALLY LOVE that Andrea Jacket, however, it's not in my store and I won't pay for shipping on it at that price)...I do adore alot of the new Fall items, but my guess is that they will start to get marked down by the end of August, beginning of September, and if I wait for the sale, then I can buy more. YAY!!! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulousFloridaMommy: I agree with everything you wrote about the email.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if you saw Robert's comment in the J.Crew Rewards Card & Gift card post but I made it into its own post ("JCrew Website Update: Incentive to Check! :)"). There is a new incentive to check the website tomorrow if he is telling the truth. :)
Sky - I just got my seahorse necklace today and I absolutely love it! i too was worried about the beads being clear and the string showing but although that is the case it still looks quite nice. Even hubby gave it his seal of approval! I've seen the giraffe necklace in person and personally I thought it looked better on the website than in person. But that's just my opinion. Definetly worth it.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah its so stupid its not on the sale section. You can see the sale price if you click on Jewellery in the main website.
Thanks - I like it but I am not sure about the seahorse. I wish I either lived by the ocean or the necklace had a different critter. I like the beeds. I am sure by the time I decide I want it, it will be sold out...
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be fun if J.Crew had a poll and let customers decide which color and critter to use for the next double strand necklace?
Does anybody know how these sellers on ebay get their hands on merchandise so quickly?
ReplyDeleteWTF with "JCrew" posting here to explain the rolling sale e-mails? Why would they respond to that annoying but relatively minor issues and leave so many other questions unanswered?
ReplyDeleteIf that poster is really posting on behalf of J.Crew they have a LOT more 'splaining to do.
They could start by sending Alexis an open letter to blog readers apologizing for the lost items/shortshipping/charges for lost items/revoked refunds/difficulty in honoring sale prices/$null items. Then they could personally contact those who've actually lost money as a result of J.Crew.com's difficulties and start resolving their situations.
Those who aren't getting e-mails at all--for some reason I had a lot of problems with my comcast.net address. I received order confirmation e-mails from J.Crew but I was never able to receive bulk e-mails, even though I added J.Crew to my address book and even though they never showed up in my spam file. When I switched to my yahoo address I stopped having that problem.
ReplyDeleteBut, that said--I was home sick last week and happened to be up reading this blog at 6:30 a.m. Pacific Time. I saw the extra 30% off posting and went to the site to see what was available. By the time the e-mail actually showed up in my inbox (10:30 Pacific Time) my size was entirely sold out in some items, so a lot was sold before I would have known about the reduction.
Hexicon, I too am on the west coast and am sad that many of the deals and sizes seem to get snapped up by many East Coasters! When I was in NC visiting my parents in June, I had insomnia and was getting up at 5 - 6 AM. I started every day checking the J.Crew site ;) and was amazed at some of the stuff I found! There was stuff I didn't even realize was on sale, it came and went so quickly. I wish that the page would get updated at a more PST friendly time, though perhaps that is also unfair to other international customers.
ReplyDeletei am very disappointed with the website "upgrade". i was def on this site more often and find everything about the new site more confusing and time consuming. good example of the old adage, "if it ain't broke...don't fix it"
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 12:12 PM: I know what you mean about being disappointed with the upgrade. I think the new website would be wonderful IF it were working properly, but because it doesn't (and so many orders are getting messed up) it makes it hard for me to appreciate it (let alone want to purchase anything.)
ReplyDeletelbh: While I was in b&m this morning, I mentioned that there were new items on ebay before they hit the stores. One sa thinks the seller is "taking orders" and then buying the item in store and sending it out, making $$ by selling it at a higher price. The manager and another sa thought it could be an employee or somebody stealing (although how would a non-employee steal something not on the floor). The first sa wanted to call management and have them call ebay to remove the items. He was all fired up! When I mentioned that I found out about the new items on ebay through a blog, he knew about this one and seemed unhappy with it. Not sure why. I asked the manager, and she said he gets a little crazy over silly things. :) I said it's just a blog by people who like J Crew items and we talk about the clothes. :)
ReplyDeleteMath Teacher: First I am surprised to hear that the manager new about this blog. Second, I am sad to hear that he doesn't like it. Considering this blog is so pro-JCrew (minus the occasional rant about the dysfunctional website). :)
ReplyDeleteI know that thanks to the members of this blog and their reviews of items, I have purchased more at J.Crew. I would hope they would see it as an asset. :)
alexis: I too was surprised that he was unhappy. I know many of us have bought items we probably wouldn't have originally, which definitely means more money for the company. At least the manager didn't think it was a big deal. What on earth could we possibly talk about that would be so bad??? Other than the bad service some have received. He's probably my favorite sa at my store, too. Oh, well, can't make everyone happy.
ReplyDeleteMath Teacher: Well I am happy to hear the manager didn't mind the blog so much. Of course, I am now totally curious as to why the SA doesn't like this blog. ;) I would love for the SA to comment on here sometime too- I love hearing from the perspective of a J.Crew employee. :)
ReplyDeletealexis: if he hadn't been busy with another customer, I would have asked. That's why I asked the manager. I'll be surprised if he posts after his reaction.
ReplyDeleteMath Teacher: Thanks for thinking of asking though! :) I think you are right, the SA wouldn't post here. ;)
