FYI if anyone is looking for a smaller and less expensive version of the uptown metallic tote. I saw one at the BR outlet this weekend.Alexis-- I really do think Gap and BR outlets are copying Jcrews bags. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I will try and catch up on everything everyone has said now ;)
this is also on a tangent, but I cannot find the thread about seeing jcrew on tv and in adverts... my computer is being waaay slow... anyway, I don't know if anyone has posted this sighting yet, but in the last couple of episodes of tv foodntwork's next star, Lisa is wearing the ruffle pique polo (in green) in her interview/confessional session.
So with the new 4 in 1 store checkout they have I wondered if the LUXE free shipping code with use of your Luxe card worked for only an old navy purchase. And it does!!!
Blumre: I can totally see how BR bags look like J.Crew's now that you pointed it out! I own several BR Collection bags- but I like J.Crew's more. :)Heather: That is so funny! I will have to check out Lisa now that you mentioned it. Isn't it funny how you can spot J.Crew on someone from like a mile away!?! ;)
Jcrewbug: That is awesome about the LUXE free shipping code! Thanks for sharing. :)
Heather: I totally noticed that too!!! In fact, it inspired me to purchase one in that color! I was pissed she didn't win tonight.
jcrewbug, I wanted her to win, too! I'm happy for Aaron, that was like the feelgood winner, I would have been more annoyed if that goofball Adam had won! :P
Heather: Lisa would be great at the Polyvore site! I was consistently amazed at how quick she was to come up with amazing dishes while in her amazing outfits. I hope we see more of her. In terms of this tangent - I've been eyeballing some of Old Navy's JCrew Lookalikes. The ruffle cardis, the shawl cardigan sweater. Does anyone have these items and wouldn't mind commenting on fit or quality? I called the stores and they don't have them so I would have to order online.Nothing at Banana is impressing me right now. I usually get dress pants there because I think you get more for your money, especially on the wools, than other stores. What are you guys finding at Banana?
Love the trouser jeans @ BR - especially if they are stretch.
I haven't bought anything online from any of the 4 stores in awhile...nothing looks overly appealing on the website, but usually does look better in the store, so unless I have already seen it in person, I usually won't order it. It's the same with Ann Taylor and now with J.Crew (sale section), too...with the website designs they have, everything looks really "cheap and cheesy". The clothes usually look much better in person. I hate those website designs...still think J.Crew should go back to the old way. :)blumre: Welcome back! How was your trip?FYI: jcrewbug, katherine, and anyone else who is interested...I found this on the Old Navy website...it's a preview of the August collection...Click Here . There are alot of pieces that look very similar to J.Crew right down to the shoes the models are wearing. :) Too bad the 30% off isn't at ON. ;)
FFM: Thanks :) the trip was good. Just to my parent's weekend home, but it was nice a relaxing and a nice break from manhattan summer disgustingness. Off on a tangent. I know, I know Jcrew outlets quality is really sucky; I know. But I saw a jean jacket there that looked great on. I didn't get it because I feel weird wearing too much denim. And I know in the fall I would end up wearing it with jeans. All the fashion magazines say its o.k. this year. Do you guys pair denim with denim? If so how do you get it to work?
blumre, personally, I can't get behind doing a jean jacket with jeans. I've seen people do it and look alright, but it's not for me. When I wear my jean jacket, it's usually to dress down my black editor pants (express), or a skirt. Sometimes I wear it with chino shorts or my bootcut cords. It might be better if the denim is two different color washes... so as to avoid the full blown texas/canadian tuxedo look. :)
blumre: I'm not a big fan of denim on denim, but I do think that it can work...specifically best if the denim colors are different on top and bottom. I have created 2 Polyvore sets called Denim on Denim seen Here , and Denim on Denim II seen Here . :)
Yes, FFM and Heather I 100% agree with you both. I do wear khakis during the fall/winter but not really on weekends which is when I would wear the jean jacket (seeing as I can't wear denim to work). I also don't wear cords because I feel they always shrink and if you don't dry them they turn out crunchy and not fun to wear. If they bring back over died denim this year I might buy a pair instead of cords. FFM those are truly great outfits. Nicely done.
jcrewbug, I was at BR yesterday and purchased this blouse in white and this skirt in brown. I love this outfit! (I'm wearing it today.) I also ordered this sweater in "montego bay blue" last week, but it hasn't arrived yet. By the way, when I checked out of the store I was asked to complete a survey online that would give me a coupon for 20% off one regular price item. Best of all, the coupon doesn't expire for 3 months!Last fall I thought Gap, Inc. was copying some of J Crew's designs, which was fine for me (cheaper that way). I was pleased to get several "You look like a J Crew ad" comments when wearing a combo of Gap, BR and even Old Navy!
laura1: Thanks for your input. I took a look at your links, I'm in love with that blouse!!! So cute!
For those of you who have a BR/ON/Gap credit card, you should have gotten a "give and get" promotion in the mail: august 1-3 you get 25% off all purchases from 3 brands in store or online and they donate 5% of your purchase amounts to one of 5 charities that you choose from. I have a whole list of stuff I am going to buy online 12:01 am August 1st!
* jcrewbug - ON has totally bumped up the production value of their shoots in the past year. Things look super fab in print and on TV and then you go in the store and see racks and racks of it. I think if you get one item and pair it with more expensive ones, it can work. But I would definitely check the fabric content before purchasing. Just say no to ramie. I'm not finding anything at BR. Nothing is exciting me, not even at 30% off. * blumre - I don't wear denim w/denim in that way, but a denim jacket is so versatile. With shorts. Over a dress. If you think the jacket is cute, get it. * FabulousFloridaMommy - Thanks for the link to the August collection for ON. That's great. ATTENTION ALL -- if you want to save 25% at BR/ON/Gap, post your email and I will send you an invite through my login. I have a BR card and they sent me the postcard. I think I have to do it all at once, so I will wait until tomorrow nite 7/29 for all takers.
gigi: That 25 off still available, i just saw your post??? Thanks!!!
JCREWBUG -- yes, email me gigiofca@gmail and I will send the coupon through your email. I think I have to go through ON and then they will send it to you. It's 12:30 pm PST and I'll be checking email again after 7pm tonite.
