J.Crew's Website is Down

Seems like the website is down for the... I can even remember how many times it has been already. ;)

P.S. I still haven't ordered anything through their website. There have been many times I was close to clicking "submit order" but hesitated each time. Reading others experiences (about ordering online) and seeing the "be back soon" image just now, reminds me to wait a bit longer (or buy in stores).

Update: As Tired Memphian pointed out in this post, it looks like the website is back up and running (as of 12:20PM).

  1. J Crew's website is becoming the laughing stock of the industry and falls under "what not to do when converting a website". I wrote an email and complained and they sent me a giftcard which probably will never actually get shipped becuase they can't find it in the warehouse.

If JCrew had any competition they would be on their way to going out of business. Check the stock price, they are headed that way.

  2. NOOOOO not again! I had hope... but agian, I am not ordering anything online until they are 100% secure. I dont trust it online

  3. It's crazy these issues are still happening after weeks! I am really shocked (and saddened) by this. :(

  4. I ordered 4 items online the other day with their Extra30 code (2 dresses, 2 jackets) for a total of $101...my package arrived with 3 of the 4 items missing. I called J. Crew and they said they must've been out of stock and the computers had a hard time keeping up with the demand of their Extra 30% off sale (sounds like BS to me!). They said they only ended up charging me for the one dress plus shipping (so around $34) but I wasn't too happy about that b/c my per-item price was much lower before when I was having more than one item shipped and so in effect, I'm paying more for my dress just because THEY screwed up. I am NOT happy about that.

I realize it's not a lot of money, but hey, that's a few days worth of gas for me just because they screwed up. Oh well I guess! :-\

  5. Anon: Call back and have them refund your shipping! At least for the other items. You ordered something a certain way. Make sure they honor that.

  6. question! has anyone ever seen/tried on the Summerweight chino mendocino jacket?? it seems like a steal, but is it worth it?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Well it is back up but my orders still show OPEN and RELEASED. I am starting to lose a little hope since someone mentioned their polka dot san telmos had real tracking numbers. They ordered Friday as well :o(

  9. Ah, the website that frustrates us all. I am sending my gift cards with a friend in a few weeks to J.crew store with my list. As I will have over $100 in gift cards it's an easy way to actually get the clothes.

The best part is I am waiting on an order that cost me $49, and they have given me $105 for the delays.

  10. Hi Anon @ 12:11: I have tried it when they had it in the stores...the price was too good not to give it a try. But I was disappointed. I wear a size 0 or 0P and XS. When I tried this jacket in 0, the fit was horrible on me. It didn't fit anywhere and was was bulging from every possible angle. Even at such a good price, I had to pass. That been said, I've also seen people post saying that they love it. So that was just my .02 on that jacket.

  11. tired memphian: don't give up hope! la belle helene placed an order on friday too, but for all fall merchandise. And as of this morning, she was saying her order is still listed as "open" and "released."

I know how you feel. Although my san telmo is allegedly "out for delivery" I'm not going to trust it until I open the box and see it there. But I really do think you have a good shot. Not only because of la belle's order being the same way, but also because no fionas have come up again online since friday. It makes me think they are sorting out the ones they had and shipping them!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wonder if the website will ever be up and running correctly! It's been a whole month now and they still don't have it together.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well I just did my daily phone call. My wait time was 2-3 minutes. They didn't have any extra information. BUT, I did supposedly get a $30 gift card. We'll see if I get that.

They put yet another note in there that I am really wanting my fionas....

I have already looked at my wardrobe to find all the cute ways to wear them to work.

I saw one two Sundays ago at the grocery and my husband thought I was nuts to be so obsessive about it. (He's obsessive about Vineyard Vines so I had to remind him of that.)

Sigh...They haven't charged my card yet for any of them, but they still have a hold on the card. We'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I do wonder if I should start paying for expedited shipping on orders? I think that for some of the really good sale items, paying expedited shipping might force them to get the order filled and out the door quicker?

    ReplyDelete
  15. anonymous 12:06pm,
I had exactly the same experience as yours. I only got one of my two items, but they charge me the shipping for two items. I called their CS, she just kept saying that they didn't charge me for the second item and totally ignored my saying that they charged me extra for shipping. And she told me that the item was out of stock but it might also be packed and be shipped to me soon. It has been a week since I called CS, I haven't received the second item. But I also saw the item available online in-stock for sale (my size and color) almost every morning last week.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, my $30 gift card is already showing up under my order history. Maybe I will really get that.

Although, if you send me my fionas....we're even :o)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am beyond words...my dismay is overwhelming...is there ANY end in site? Oh, J.Crew...haven't you ever heard the saying "If it isn't broken, don't fix it?" Why oh why did you have to mess with a good thing? Your new website sucks, btw!

    ReplyDelete
  18. tired memphian: they are messing up the expedited, as well...I wouldn't pay the extra money, personally.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm in the same boat. I've placed four orders (on July 21, 22 and 23), and the only one that UPS claims "out for delivery" is the very last order I placed! Two of the other orders have tracking numbers - but according to UPS, they received the billing information back on the 24th, but nothing has actually been shipped. Then there's that other order that just says "released." So frustrating - especially when you're looking forward to the items arriving. By the time they get here (if they do) it'll be fall already and the "summer" theme will no longer be appropriate. Pity, that.

  20. The last person I talked to on the phone heard everything from me that this web site upgrade is a disaster, etc. She told me that they upgraded everything across the board at once and it isn't anything like BR or Gap or the other companies upgrading their sites. I didn't feel like arguing (it's what I do for a living and J Crew isn't paying me to argue....I seem to be paying them....hmmmm....something is off here....)

It seemed like they were bragging about this phenomenal upgrade. Yuck. Just yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ffm: then what's the point of having expedited? Such a waste of cute clothes....

    ReplyDelete
  22. So, what, we're suppose to be happy that they upgraded everything? It seems to me like this is a disaster if there are still problems a month later. Not to mention that they've been planning this for 2 years. I don't know who works in that department, but they should be gone by now. I can't imagine trying to brag about this upgrade! Most cs's that I've talked to have admitted that it is not going well.

    ReplyDelete
  23. FYI EVERYONE...I received my August rewards card today in the mail. Hope you all get yours, too.

    ReplyDelete
  24. they need to give us 50% off sale stuff online...that would show that they are treating online customers the same as store customers. after their website fiasco...do something for us!!!

online sales constitute a large % of their overall sales (dont have figures)...so why dont they take us seriously???

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am on hold for CS again! I called UPS about my NON UPDATED, RECYCLED tracking numbers, and the UPS rep said that they do not have an origin scan on the packages, and IF UPS had actually gotten them, they would have been scanned and my information would have been updated onto that tracking number. She also said that if they HAD been shipped out as J.Crew states, then I would have received them by the 25th, which was last Friday. I cannot BEGIN to express how LIVID I will be if these two packages are STILL at that warehouse! This is COMPLETELY UNBELIEVABLE!!! I will keep you posted...wish me luck!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ugh -- I feel for all of you. I was so nervous about receiving an order I placed back on 7/16. It was all such a mess, but I successfully received everything. I didn't realize they were giving gift cards, but that's ok. What I *did* fight for were the $19.99 and $29.99 prices I was seeing on the web. You know how you see the lower price, but when you click on size it either said null or it had the regular price? Yeah...I asked for the lower price and got it on the 2 pairs of the cropped chinos and 2 pairs of the full length city fit. The rep was reluctant, but she gave it to me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The cord pencil skirt I ordered Saturday in-store on the red phone has shipped, yay! It was my first red phone order and I'm glad I did it. I would be nervous about ordering straight from the website right now. :/

    ReplyDelete
  28. FFM: how frustrating!!!! I am still in shock that this has been going on for a month.

But what really makes me upset is that they sent all the good store stuff to the web site. So they have all the sale stuff. My local store isn't that great. They are really nice. Just not a huge store.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I called CS to follow-up on a botched return and a missing order last night. After two plus hours of being repeatedly put on hold while a CS rep “ran” to check status (I swear, they must all share one computer and have to run from the phone to stand in line for their turn on the computer for each call they receive), I was told two incredibly troubling things by CS last night ():

    1. It will take up to 6 weeks for a returned order to be processed. I don’t mean 6 weeks for the credit to appear on your card, I mean 6 weeks for the on-line order status information to be updated . . . apparently, the credit to your account will appear sometime after that! Just want I want to do, pay interest charges for 1 – 2 months because my return is sitting in their warehouse while they are “working through their system updates”. As part of these updates, do they make everyone work off of one computer or why is this so hard?!?

    2. The dry cleaner damaged one of my Piper tanks and the other reason for my call was to determine if a replacement was available through the warehouse or an in store search. None in the warehouse AND the new system (aka the corporate implementation disaster/customer alienation system) “restricts” CS and store staff from conducting an in store search for any item that is on sale.

I am not even remotely excited about receiving my rewards payout – it just means I would have to buy something and endure even more JCrew torture. The clothing is just not worth the hours on the phone trying to track orders!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Alexis, I order the ruffled cardigan last week via online with the Extra30 and it came yesterday--- I must say that I was a bit nervous given all the chatter on the blog regarding the chaos--- but I had no issues..... I guess I am one of the lucky ones! :)

For those who asked what Chelsea was eyeing on the sales rack--- tank tops, suiting and a bathsuit for her man! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. And as of 2:06 EST, the website is not working for me. :( boo!

    ReplyDelete
  32. MariS: What you described from the CS is very disturbing. 6+ weeks to return credit (which customers rightfully deserve) is outrageous.

Nicole R.: Its good to hear that some customers are experiencing no problems with orders. That is very encouraging. :) I just worry, from what I am hearing from other customers, that there are still some major issues.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 6 weeks for a return to be credited appears to be accurate. I was just credited for a return I mailed in the 3rd week of June. At this point I am shocked I was even credited at all!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ok...just got off the phone with CS, and guess what??? Both of my orders are CANCELLED...that's right folks...NOTHING shipped out AGAIN, and I didn't even receive an email to let me know not to bother watching for UPS to come...I would not have known any of this had I not called UPS for them to actually update me! The two reps, yes TWO reps I spoke to were extremely sympathetic to my cause. The Support Services rep loaded more money onto my Gift Card so that I can go shop in my store. She was going to let me order something from the New Arrivals online, but said she was afraid it wouldn't get to me, and that the Gift Card option would probably be the best way to go. She is the same rep I spoke with yesterday, and I ADORE her! I am EXTREMELY upset that my orders are NOT coming again, but happy that I was at least compensated for the Month of H*LL that I have gone through trying to get two simple items...how hard is it really? It has cost J.Crew alot more money by not sending my Kelly and Joelle, than it would have if they had just put them on the truck. The rep actually commented that someone should just walk it down the street to UPS...yes, that's right...UPS is right down the street from the J.Crew warehouse! Can you BELIEVE it??? Good Luck to everyone who has placed orders...I don't have anything else coming, and don't want to order online until I am sure packages are actually getting delivered.

  35. oh no ffm. I am so so so sorry...:(

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ahhh! Just got the paper poplin raincoat today... it's gorgeous! Does anyone else own this coat?

    ReplyDelete
  37. FabulousFloridaMommy: I echo Kater's comment, really sorry about your orders. I can't believed they canceled your orders without even letting you know. :(

Lynn: Congrats on the jacket!!! :) I actually wanted to get the paper poplin raincoat too- but the website didn't have any in my size. What color did you get?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't own it, but I definitely coveted it. Tell us all lynn!

    ReplyDelete
  39. ffm: I am so sorry! I am in shock! I don't understand what is going on over there. That's why I'll refer back to my theory that something funny is up. I mean the way they are operating is unacceptable. how can they survive like this??!!!?

I must say, it's a sad day when eBay is more reliable than the J Crew website!

But, on a positive note, what do you think you'll get with your "apology money"?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Alexis, Kater, and Sally: Thanks for the condolences...at least now I have some closure on the whole horrendous ordeal...

Sally: I am really considering the Andrea! I am hoping my store will get it in, so that I can try it on for size and color choice...fingers crossed on that one. Other than that I would like a Hammered Silk Tank, Tartine Cardigan, and the Dream Ruffle Herringbone Cardi you got, as well. I also adore the Cotton Taffeta Belle Skirts...so many choices, and I don't have to even spend my money on them...just my Gift Cards. :) At least something positive came out of my nightmare month.

    ReplyDelete
  41. ffm: sorry to hear about your "cancelled" orders. They did the same to me on items from 3 different orders. And I only found out that the items were cancelled yesterday after I called them 6 times!!

Yes, they offered to send a "giftcard"...but that doesnt make up for the time we wasted in following up. I was really hoping to get the Academy cardigan, but now they tell me that it will not be available anymore.Kinda bummed...!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. FFM: that is horrible!!! They better have compensated you really well!!!!

And I agree with the comment about EBay. If the fionas weren't so expensive, I'd order them there. I have ordered a lot of stuff on ebay lately and will continue.

    ReplyDelete
  43. FFM: I must hear about the skirts when you try them on!! My store has the dark grey but I was too tired to try it on. My 9 year old wants to go there this weekend and will try on some stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  44. ffm: those are such great options you have! And how wonderful that its on THEM!

OT but, does anyone have any thoughts on the Paintbrush Floral Belle Skirt? I think it's so cute and LOVE the colors in it but worry that since I'm short (5'2), the print and poof will take me over...any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  45. For those that have tried on the vintage cord skirt...how did it fit? Did you need to size up? Is it more of a straight pencil skirt or an A-line?
Also, do the driving moccasins run true to size?
And a thank you to MJ in VA...I just received the flowy bateau dress from the Mcclean store.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sally: I think you will be perfectly fine with the skirt, as it's only 21" long, and the length should work out well for you...it's funny you mention this skirt, as I just created my latest set in Polyvore with that exact skirt. You can see it Here . You could actually substitute the Peacoat on the left with your Andrea in Honey Glaze for a similar look, if you like it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I got the soft azalea... it said in the item description to order up a size. I'm usually a 2-4 on top and a 6 on bottom. The smallest size they had was an 8, so I decided to chance it. It fits well, especially since there's a belt to cinch the waist with. The price was $39.99 (with the 20% off), but of course I had to pay the outrageous shipping prices. I've been eyeing it for a long time but didn't want to pay the $99.99 sale price it was originally at! If it becomes available online again, GO FOR IT! It's sooooo worth it!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. cori: I tried on the same size in the vintage cord skirt as the favorite fit pants and it worked for me. I found it to be a true pencil skirt. I'm 5'4", and the length was perfect - right to the knee, which is where I like skirts to hit.

  50. ffm: I am so sorry that you're not getting your coveted items, but so thrilled that you'll be able to buy some new items on their dollar! :) I'm glad they haven't messed up any of my orders, but the thought of some serious money on a gift card is nice.

  52. ffm: how funny! great minds think alike! I love the outfits you made! thanks for the suggestions.

In fact, I was playing on there a bit last night and put the ringspun beaded floral tee in dark slate (bought it yesterday) with it and some black patent platform slide sandals for a more casual, everyday look.

I think the price is not too bad and if I'm able to dress it up or down, then I can get more use out of it (and justify the full price) ;)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Off Topic: On my Polyvore account I have had 8 people use This Shoe for other outfits, since I made my set over 17 hours ago. It is called the Trixie Heel, and seems to be extremely popular outside of the J.Crew realm. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Sally: I LOVE that skirt...it's also on my wishlist...we really have similar tastes in clothing. :) Did you join our Polyvore J.Crew Aficionadas group? If not, you need to...that way you are able to look at all of our new J.Crew creations each day. :)

  55. I deleted two of my posts that the links did not work correctly on, so if you end up with multiple posts from me on the same topic...that is why!

Here is the outfit that I used the Trixie Heels with: Click Here . :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. math teacher: Thanks...it has really been a miserable month dealing with all the order issues, but the Gift Card compensation made it easier to take in the end. I am glad to finally not have to call CS on a daily or every other day basis, not have to wait to see if UPS comes, and I will plan to shop WITHOUT my boys, so that I can truly ENJOY the experience. :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ok! I'm Member number 15 on Polyvore but I registered as Weab on there (sorry, a bit confusing) I also submitted the outfit I mentioned with the skirt in it.

Oh boy! I foresee LOTS of procrastination in my future! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. sally: polyvore is awesome! I'm having a really hard time limiting how often I'm on there. And I've challenged myself to make outfits only with pieces that I have, are like something I have, or truly anticipate buying. Because seeing everyone's combinations just makes me want to buy more and more and more!

only one hour and 20 minutes until I am out of hopes that UPS will deliver my package today. ARGH. I'm refreshing my tracking page about every second.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sally: You are not alone! I have spent 2 days of creating...ok...procrastinating...but it is just so theraputic...ok...addictive...anyways, I look forward to seeing your creations! Tomorrow I am limiting my computer time so that I can get my laundry done, otherwise I could just create all day (other than fixing meals, changing diapers, and other "mommy" chores)...fortunately my boys like to play together, so they entertain each other for the most part, and don't mind mommy "playing dress up". :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. well good news on my front...asked for a price adjustment last week via email and it arrived today by UPS!! AND I had to call about another incorrectly charged order (was on hold for 25 minutes) and the CS rep informed me that since I used my JCrew Card the credit would be immediate. we'll see!! ANd I placed two orders last week and BOTH arrived without a hitch. Took maybe a couple days longer than usual, but not much longer. I did place ALL the orders over the telephone though, so I dont know if that has anything to do with it.

    ReplyDelete
  61. kater: I have adopted that same philosophy. I am only using items I have or that are very similar to what I have. No kidding, the temptation to purchase more is so huge but this way we can see how many different ways we can wear one single article of clothing. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  62. ffm: lol! I am also doing the laundry in between "creating"! Let's call it an "exercise in creativity". That way I feel I am being productive...and keeping my mind SHARP... for the kids' sake...It's really a benefit to our children. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  63. bgd: I also phoned in ALL of my orders, and unfortunately it didn't make a difference...I really don't think there is a rhyme or reason to any of it.

kater and sally: Great philosophy on the outfit creations! I have done some sets of items I have, some sets of items other's have mentioned, and some sets of items I would LOVE to actually own...I will definitely need to start setting time limits for myself, though...otherwise my hubby will become annoyed with the whole thing. ;)

Btw...2 more people have used those exact Trixie Heels in their sets since I posted about them.

    ReplyDelete
  64. ffm & sally: we'll see how long that philosophy lasts! And since I can use stuff from my $2500 wishlist shopping cart, I'm truly not that limited.

by the way, I'm glad I don't lust after those trixie heels (they are a little too high for me). I bet they will sell out considering how frequently they are getting used from ffm's outfits!

    ReplyDelete
  65. ffm: so true about the hubby, mine too. But this way, we're "creating" and not spending, shouldn't they appreciate this.

However, as soon as he says something, I will remind him of how much time he spends playing video games with the kids!

    ReplyDelete
  66. sally: your house sounds just like mine! I know for a fact that my husband is happier that I "shop and create" on Polyvore, than shopping for real at JCrew.com...at least for now anyways, since I try to not act "completely" obsessed once he gets home. ;)

kater: it really IS more fun to create from your $2500 shopping bag, now isn't it? Not to mention that this way you can get a head start on planning what to really try for when the Fall Collection goes on sale! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. kater: I'm actually surprised at the popularity of the Trixie Heels, and especially since they are from people who don't even have J.Crew items in their sets...go figure! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  68. They just added a boatload of stuff to the sale section...66 pages of sale in the women's section. It is still very buggy with pictures not showing up and sold out stuff showing up, but they added a whole bunch of items I have not seen in a while; I think some of the stuff is from last fall. I ordered an Italian jacquard fiona for 149.99 plus 20% off, a cashmere v-neck for $59.99 plus 20% off and a merino cardigan for $49.99 plus 20% off. Fingers crossed that I actually receive the stuff. :P

    ReplyDelete
  69. really? because for me it is the same old stuff. I hate this stupid web site!!!! how can it be different for different people????

    ReplyDelete
  70. must have been why the site was down earlier today

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am looking now and I am also getting the same old stuff. That is weird.

    ReplyDelete
  72. OMG! Nothing is new on my jcrew.com... must be the freaky twilight zone thing again. Cass, you are lucky!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I don't see anything new, either...same old stuff as the past month.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I have 66 pages as well... but nothing new =(

When last year's fall clothing appears I will be clicking like a maniac!

    ReplyDelete
  75. My Kelly Jacket is STILL on there and gets loaded into the Shopping Bag only to show as Unavailable and Removed upon going to checkout...the website is deceiving and innaccurate...please proceed with caution!

    ReplyDelete
  76. OK this is weird... if you view all the merchandise in one category and click on the last page, you'll see some fall stuff from last year. But, when you click on it, the sale price disappears and there aren't any sizes or colors availaible =(

  77. OH NO I just got an e-mail saying they located an item # that doesnt exist on the website. I am betting I didnt order anything! OH NO! OH NO! This is miserable :( I just e-mailed my PS and we have an appointment to talk later but this is very upsetting.

FFM: I didnt get to say it earlier but I am so sorry about your lost items. You must be heart broken, I know how much you wanted them.

    ReplyDelete
  78. nevermind... the fall stuff is all mixed in but only some have sizes/colors. JCrew why must you taunt me!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. blumre: maybe it will be a nice surprise??? just trying to think positive here to keep my love for J Crew alive. I've personally had horrible CS reps that last few calls. I feel like ordering items has become a waste of time and creates so much anxiety. I wish I had the time and patience to call all the stores to get what I'm looking for!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Apparently A LOT of merchandise doesn't show up in the categories, because according to the little numbers in the parentheses (), there are 343 items. BUT if you "view 15 per page", there are 65 pages, equaling 975 items. Something is still very wrong with Jcrew.com.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Okay so listen to this. 3 days ago I ordered the Jacinda jacket (in that mustard color) and a yoga headband. They came UPS today. I never got an email they were coming either.

By the way the Jacinda jacket is definitely a sweater not a jacket...in my opinion! But the color is perfect for fall. Too bad it is literally 99 degrees here today!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. By the comments made about new merchandise arriving in a day or two...it sounds if perhaps "sale item purchases" are getting pushed to the back of the line...definitely not a top priority to get them shipped, if at all.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I was thinking the same thing! I waited almost 2 weeks for sale stuff...and it was USPS. New stuff arrives immediately via UPS.

  84. pink1: It really has to be more than mere coincidence!

  86. Ok, off topic, but I have a Polka Dot San Telmo sitting in my closet with the tags still on because I can't figure out what to wear it with. Does anyone have any ideas (including shoes) that are workable for BOTH casual and more dressed up ways to wear this. I love it, but am drawing a blank. Thanks in advance for any advice!

  87. I think that there is something going on with geographic location. I also wonder if you get your orders on sale items if you don't use a coupon versus those who do use one.

I'm just going to call everyday and bug people. I have three order numbers so I am just going to use a different one for each call. Maybe someone will give me some info!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Re: sale section being updated: I also noticed that there are items shown on the MAIN/First page of the sale section (example: argyle hooded sweater) but when you select "sweaters" it doesnt show up!! it's crazy and stupid. JUST FREAKIN FIX IT!!!!! so annoying. I am saving so much money by them not adding new stuff like they used to! BGD

    ReplyDelete
  89. The new sale items show up if you view all the items together and not by category. As I said, a lot of stuff is still there that is sold out, and it's all limited size/colors, but they def have a lot more stuff on there now that they didn't as of this morning. They def did not have the italian jacquard fiona jacket in the sale section yesterday. I really hope the stuff I ordered actually ships to me b/c it was all a pretty good deal.

  90. Hello, fellow Aficionadas. I've been MIA for a few weeks while I awaited arrival of various purchases> I wanted to share with you that, despite what the website and all the CS's said, I did, in fact, return 10 Final Sale items , which I had purchased online, via mail, and they have been credited back to my J.Crew card. I just went for it, figuring it was the least J.Crew owed me after this fiasco. And apparently, they agreed. If any of you are also in possession of Final Sale items you'd like to return, I recommend trying. Think about it - is J.Crew really going to spend the money to ship the items BACK to you when they can't even manage to ship out newly sold items? Anyway, not I have some money back, and I may make a trip to a B&M to see what's there. As for shopping online again - I can't imagine the next time I'll do that. It will have to be one heck of a coupon! :-)

  91. Oh. my. god. I am sitting here writing this in my POLKA DOT SAN TELMO!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!

it is the cutest thing ever and I adore it.

do not give up hope tired memphian. it can happen! I promise!

    ReplyDelete
  92. the website still has kinks need to be worked on especially in the men's final sale section...it was a big disappointment when i found out that the shorts that were supposed to be on sale for $24 turned out to be not on sale and is still priced at $49.50....for a pair of shorts!!

oh and a little sidenote: alexis is gracious enough not to say anything for my shameless prmotion of a separate site..but i swear this is the last you'll ever hear of Gilt..

so if anybody is interested this is my last offer for membership.

  93. Here are some items in the sale section I think were from last fall (only one size left in each):

  94. kater what are you planning on wearing your polka dot san telmo with??? need advice quickly!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I have no idea beyond trouser jeans and a white tank! I'm on polyvore right now making that outfit as a celebration...

    we need ffm...:)

I'm thinking a black pencil skirt and bright heels might be cute too?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Kater,
I'm delighted on your behalf! I hope you get a ton of wear out of the jacket :-)

I was in a store today and took a closer look at the herringbone fionas. I really do think they're charming, and if I didn't have the charcoal Bella, I'd probably have bought the charcoal Fiona.

All in all, though, it seems J.Crew has inflated prices quite a bit - I especially think it's ridiculous how much they're charging for thin cotton t-shirts. Give me a break. I can buy the same quality at Target for 1/4 the price. And at Target, nothing is ever final sale :-)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Well, I am home from NYC and what is the first thing I did? I went online and purchased NINE items...NOT on sale. I talked with ones of the sales clerks in a b&m store and she said that several of the jackets are selling so quickly that I should get them while I can. Well, that gave me carte blanche to race home and place a huge order. Yikes! At any rate when I receive my order I will give a review of each piece! Also, something that I absolutely LOVED about NYC was that so many of the women were wearing short sleeve tees with long fringed scarves draped loosely around their necks. Soooo feminine and pretty!

As a side note I wanted to say that I really missed this blog while I was gone. I think I may be addicted! You are all so wonderful...and fashionable!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Kater,
I think a black pencil skirt and bright heels would look fantastic with the polka dot san telmo. Personally, a black pencil skirt is my fail-safe - I just think it goes with pretty much everything.

Then again, I love pencil skirts. I'm trying to add in a different silhouette, and am seriously considering the belle skirts. I just tend not to like poufy skirts ... Does anyone have one already (the ones I'm looking at are from the new fall collection) and if so, any thoughts on how it fits?

    ReplyDelete
  99. thanks la belle helene!

and jcrewjunkie - I'm curious - which ones did the SA say are selling out quickly? I need to strategize...:)

    ReplyDelete
  100. Anon at 6:50:
One idea if you want to dress up the polka dot San Telmo is to wear all black underneath. Wear black trousers and a fitted black lycra tank with black pointed toe shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Jcrewjunkie: Don't keep us in the dark ... what did you order? :-)

I ordered the green tweed skirt last week, but haven't gotten it yet. What jackets did your SA say are flying off the shelves?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Kater: Congrats on the Polka Dot San Telmo!!! :)

Cass: The Printed silk twill shirtdress sale price is higher now than what they were offering it a few months ago. I paid $49 for the black dots version of Printed silk twill shirtdress a couple of months ago. I hate when J.Crew bring back sale items at a higher priced. :(

Anonymous at 6:50 PM: I own the jacket as well (so does Vivian). I like to wear it with a white shirt underneath (could be either tank, short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve) and a pair of dark trouser jeans and some capri sandals. Another member mention flipping the the cuffs of the jacket to have a bit of yellow show (which I love the idea of!)

    ReplyDelete
  103. YAY KATER!!!! I'm so happy for you!

I saw your Polyvore outfit featuring it and love the bag! I might have to go check that one out in person. What a great, inexpensive find!

    ReplyDelete
  104. sally: thank you so much! by the way, I love that target bag. I use it all the time, and it is literally one sale online for 12.49. Definitely worth that price (I paid full and don't regret it). I get tons of compliments on it!

    ReplyDelete
  105. jcrewjunkie: welcome back and congrats on your purchase! btw, did you receive the kelly?

    ReplyDelete
  106. Today I received an order that I placed on 7/25...only four days!!! Usually it takes exactly one week! I didn't pay for faster shipping, either. Also, I received a large white envelope from UPS that had a card for merchandise credit for something I mailed in for a return on 7/2. So far my latest experiences with J. Crew have been GOOD! Also, a second order I placed yesterday has already shipped. I'm thinking (and hope!) that they are beginning to get their act together.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hello, I received the small Kelly jacket today and am wondering how to wear it. It's the bright flame color. I already wear the navy all the time, but unsure how to match the bright red. Any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Does anyone have the Cashmere Martine cardigan? I love it in the grey w/ green. I can't decide. It is still pricey online. My store didn't get this sweater. I wonder if they will make it down again...or that may be wishful thinking!

    ReplyDelete
  109. kater: Congratulations!!! You are so lucky!

anon @5:29 and kater: I am so sorry...I had made Polyvore sets to post for you earlier, but I had to hurry and make dinner, feed the boys, etc...anyways, I made the sets with J.Crew items ONLY, just in case that is what you are looking for. The first one is Here , and the second one is Here . Congrats on the jackets! :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. ffm: thank you! I wish more than anything your kelly jacket had shown up though!

I LOVE the outfits on polyvore by the way. I just put the yellow hammered silk tank in my shopping cart/wish list, just in case you were wondering about the influence you have on my style...:)

    ReplyDelete
  111. Well the strangest thing happened today. I received an email telling em one of the gift cards I was getting due to the shipping problems has been canceled, I currently have the phone on speaker phone as I wait to talk to someone.

Ah ... how much longer will this site screw up?

    ReplyDelete
  112. jcrew guy in canada: do you have an existing J.Crew Gift Card? If so...ask them to load the amount onto it...a Support Services rep can do it, and it shows up immediately. That is what they have done for me...my cards had said cancelled, too, but they really weren't. Hope this helps! Oh yeh, if you don't have a card in hand...ask if your friend can have one loaded when they go to the J.Crew in the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I GOT TWO OF MY GIFT CARDS TODAY!!!! They were in the mail and they have $ on them... Oh dear... this is too good to be true!

Jcrewjunkie: which ones are selling quickly. If i need to act fast I need to know it. AHHHH

    Aly Welcome back!

    ReplyDelete
  114. JCGUYINCANADA: I just had that happen to me as well. They reinstated the order for the card and apologized. Egads, I can't wait to see how many minutes on my phone bill have gone to J Crew's 1-800!!!

    ReplyDelete
  115. kater: I'm so glad you like them! I think you have a multitude of possibilities with it...I suggest putting a turtleneck under it once the weather gets cooler, as well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. jcrewjunkie: I'm so glad you had such a fantastic time in NYC...I am going to get one of the new jackets, and also want to know which ones are selling out quickly! Welcome back, btw!

aly: Welcome back! :) Glad the whole returns deal worked out for you!

    blumre: YAY!!!!! Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  117. ffm: I will definitely do the turtleneck idea! I love the look of long sleeves under elbow sleeves (I do it with my piazza jackets from a few years ago all the time), but hadn't thought of the turtleneck factor...

you are the best. I think you could a mint as a stylist...:)

    ReplyDelete
  118. MAKE a mint...

    oops...:)

the excitement has affected my typing abilities...

  119. Need sizing advice:

I went today to buy the Andrea. It's gorgeous. HOWEVER, I didn't know if a 2 worked or a 0. (By the way, a rewards card and educator's discount made this jacket WORTH IT!)

The problem: 2 felt slightly big under the arms-but enough for sweater room. My husband says it looks a "little big" but not bad on me. The 0 was tight on the arms but underarms felt secure.

Which should I have gotten? Is the Andrea jacket meant to be worn as a coat - so I need the room, or should I get a more fitted look. I know it's up to me-bu you guys are too great to not ask! :-)

    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Oh and another tidbit to share with all of you....

I asked politely about the first possible sale on this initial fall collection and the SA told me that I could expect one in about 4 weeks...(She kinda whispered it to me.)

I want to wait to buy the cords -but only on sale. Is that so bad? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  121. sally: I received the Kelly sweater (my sister brought it to me while I was in NYC so I got to wear it there!!!) Thank you for sending it so quickly! It fits perfectly (even better than the navy XS that I have!) I wore it with a white tank (J Crew) and rolled 5" chino shorts in British Khaki and got lots and lots of compliments! Again, THANKS!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. for those with the San telmo: someone suggested wearing all black underneath to make it pop, and it reminded me of an outfit I'd seen somewhere else.

    http://blog.wardrobe911.com/page/19/

Doesn't that look incredibly chic yet still timeless? I think the San Telmo could work in a similar fashion.

    ReplyDelete
  123. To everyone who is wondering, the SC in NYC told me that the Velvet Ecole jacket is going to be the season's big seller. I loved the Velvet Bella jacket and didn't get one in the color that I really wanted so I opted, instead, to get my Ecole now (in Honey Glaze) and not procrastinate. She said that the Tuesday trench had "made quite a stir" and so had the Boucle Lucille jacket (although it has a "trendy" look that I don't honestly think will last through many seasons). There were more items, but these are the ones that I can remember right off the top. I wrote everything down once I got back to my hotel so that I wouldn't forget, but haven't had a chance to unload everything from our mountain of luggage (being gone 11 days is a nightmare when unpacking...lol).

    ReplyDelete
  124. Got my rewards card today! 125 bucks! Yippeeee!~

    ReplyDelete
  125. I had a polka dot San Telmo I got in the store on sale - I adored it but my husband said I looked like Prince, so I took it back. He's hysterical. I also had it in the Coppelle Paisly when it first came out, but ultimately decided there was too much going on. I'm a size 14-ish and I think the prints were just too much on me.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Any suggestions on what to wear with bright flame Kelly?

    ReplyDelete
  127. anon @7:22 and 9:08: I think YOU must have gotten my Small Kelly Jacket in Bright Flame...it's the one I ordered over a month ago and never received, then ordered over a week ago, and once again never received...you are SO lucky...how in the world did you manage it? When did you place your order? I am so jealous...

    ReplyDelete
  128. Hey all! I told my husband the story about my Gift Cards and he wants me to go to my J.Crew this weekend BY MYSELF, and shop for whatever I have been lusting after...I was planning on waiting a couple of weeks until the new merchandise starts to get marked down, but if he is sending me with his blessing and no kids, then I think I better take him up on it. I doubt they will have much to mark down the 50%, and I am so hoping and praying they have gotten the Andrea in by then, too! I may actually get it if they do...just don't know about paying that price, though...I'm worried it will get marked down in the next couple of weeks, and then I will be frustrated...such decisions...so much I want, too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  130. FFM if they dont have it you could order it and have it sent to the store and pre-pay for it at the store so that when it does come in you don't have to pay for it and you can just go and pick it up.

    ReplyDelete
  131. FYI: The Support Services Rep I spoke with this afternoon said that J.Crew isn't offering Expedited shipping right now...they can barely manage standard delivery.

    ReplyDelete
  132. ffm: you so deserve a solo trip to j.crew! I really hope they have the andrea too, so you can try it on. I didn't think I was going to like it (wasn't even on my wishlist ;) until I tried it on. And it was instant love. hopefully you will have the same experience! And with all those gift cards, maybe you should just treat yourself to it.

and I don't know about all this business about the ecole being the "it" jacket. That's what it says in the catalog, and I think they are just telling the associates to say that, and it's not based on actual sales. I mean, a lot of us have not been impressed with it! Overall, I just don't like this "hurry up and buy it before it runs out" campaign. I got my rewards card and it was all over the little lookbook that came with it too.

    end rant...:)

    ReplyDelete
  133. FFM: thats funny cause they fed exed me an order last week and it got here monday!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Kater: Just want to agree with you. The ecole jacket isn't what I wanted it to be after seeing it look really nice on all the models in the lookbook. It felt chunky and the folded sleeves (in velvet?). Hmm... Sadly, it didn't make it to the counter.

    ReplyDelete
  135. FabulousFloridaMommy: That is wonderful of your husband! I echo Kater's comment, a solo trip is fantastic. :)

    ReplyDelete
  136. blumre: see my post above about the ecole. in sum, I'm not buying this "it" jacket line. My store had about a bajillion of them, and they don't seem to be going that quickly online. I think you're fine to wait, especially if you're flexible in color!

    ReplyDelete
  137. blumre: that's a really great idea about the Andrea, if they don't have it in now...maybe it would actually make it to the store! ;) Also, about the expedited...that's weird...maybe this is another new development for this week? Who knows anymore...

kater: Thanks...it's been a long time since I've shopped solo...I am definitely excited! :)

molly.porter: I think it is only available on pre-order, or not at all right now...the Watercolor Floral Rosette Tank that I want isn't online now, either, but it IS in the catalog, and in a ton of pics online right now...maybe they will be online in another couple of weeks?

    ReplyDelete
  138. ffm: You are SO lucky! To have your hubby's blessing and no kids in hand! You do definitely deserve it after all you went through. You HAVE to report back on the results of your spree! I also hope the andrea is there so you can tell us how it works for you. I can tell you that the Northpark Dallas store has it. That's where mine came from.

jcrewjunkie: I'm so glad to hear it worked well for you! Your outfit sounds too cute!

    ReplyDelete
  139. alexis: I'm just not sure what to do about the shopping trip...I mean I will DEFINITELY go, but I'm so unsure about paying full price, even when I actually CAN...I guess that will change once I start to try the pieces on...it always does. :)

    ReplyDelete
  140. FFM, I placed my order two weeks ago, on July 14. I feel so bad if I got it and it was supposed to be yours!

    ReplyDelete
  141. blumre: I am in the same predicament over the Andrea...I have enough to get it, as well as a Hammered Silk Tank, and a Tartine Cardigan, but I'm just not sure about paying full price, even with the educator discount...I need to feel the weight of the Andrea to see if I can even wear it now, or if I won't be wearing it until it gets marked down...it wouldn't be worth the price if I can't wear it for several months...by then it will be under $200. It's really hard to pay full price when you are used to shopping sale...I keep thinking about the plethera of clothing I can buy on sale as opposed to the few items I can buy at full price...I am torn...sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  142. to continue on my anti-it jacket campaign (mainly because I don't feel like writing this stupid dissertation chapter I'm working on), I just went online and the velvet ecole is still available in every size, and every color. I think a week after bella came out last year, it was already waitlisted. I remember getting on the backorder list for it SUPER early, and was stunned how quickly that happened.

    ReplyDelete
  143. anon @9:43: I am just teasing you! I know you didn't really get MY sweater, but it's just disappointing to know that some of them actually DID get shipped, but NOT to me...as I said earlier...at least I have closure now so that I can mourn my loss and move on. I will make a Polyvore set for you with my ideas for the Kelly and post them in a little while. CONGRATULATIONS and ENJOY IT...I'm sure you will look super cute! :)

    ReplyDelete
  144. FFM, whoa! How much did you get in gift cards? Was this from messed up orders? You lucky girl, you!

    ReplyDelete
  145. UPDATE ON THE TRIXIE HEELS: 19 people have now used the pic of the Trixie Heels off of my Polyvore set...isn't this unbelievable? Who Knew?

    ReplyDelete
  146. FabulousFloridaMommy: I know what you mean about hesitating to buy anything full price. But the solo trip itself will be fun! :)

    ReplyDelete
  147. Are the Gift Cards good forever, and do you think it is possible for J.Crew to pull the balance of a promo card or render it null and void, if you haven't used it by a certain time?

    ReplyDelete
  148. Lynn:
I own one in peony color. It's georgeous. See my outfit here.
    What color did you get?
I posted before, but back in spring, I saw one on SA in store and I had to get one. I liked citron color better, but am happy with pink. :) The problem is I have WAY too many pink items in my wardrobe.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Slastena, I posted at 3:02pm but it's easy to miss my posting because I don't have a pretty picture to the right of my name :-)

I got the pink color as well. I'm definitely planning on wearing it other than just rainy days!!! IT'S ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I got lucky and got it at a great price, but I would definitely have been willing to pay more for it!

  152. FFM and Blumre:
Congrats on gift cards. You are making me insanely jealous, I was NEVER EVER offered one. All I get is some placating and nice excuses. AHHHH!
My waitlisted Kate dress (from way back in May) got supposedly shipped, then email came stating order was cancelled as they don't have it ( they had tons of it after I was waitlisted), CC was charged, I sent email- never heard back, finally called- and the guy was sweet , but had a nerve saying that if I like the dress so much, I should get one- FOR $98!!! b/c thats how juch it is now in new colors! I said "thanks, no" and hung up. Some people!

Mad, mad, mad! Got rewards today and not in the mood to shop! Please, someone, help me write en email so I can get some productive compensation for my distress.:)

    ReplyDelete
  153. All - I am traveling until mid-August, but spoke with the Sales Associates at my regular store today. They received a lot more merchandise in today, but only half what they were expecting. So, that might mean that J Crew is having just as much difficulty getting items to stores as they are to customers. On the plus side, there will be even more merchandise for FFM's solo trip.

Also, the store is shipping everything to my vacation address for free. I do not have a personal shopper, but have worked very hard to become a known customer at my local store.

    ReplyDelete
  154. lynn, so sorry,
I did overlook you post about color. I think it's a nice color, and jacket can be worn even on sunny day ( no need to wait for rain). It's truly versatile.

Tnanks for the flattery, something to sweeten my mood ( see my prev. ranting).:(

  155. FFM the gift cards are good forever.

  160. MariS: I returned a package of 8 items last week, and UPS tracking shows that it was delivered this morning. And SURPRISE!!! My returns are already showing on my order history!! Now to get the refunds to show on my CC *Keeping my fingers crossed*

  161. ffm: you obviously do not live in my neck of the woods! My husband calls it the "mommy uniform" all the women are wearing sweats to drop the kids off at school. I can't understand why they can't at least throw on a pair of jeans! I mean is everyone REALLY working out CONSTANTLY????

I think they believe that if they look disheveled they MUST be great mommies. I don't get it and never will! (Sorry for the yelling but it's a sore spot for me)

I just don't think there's anything wrong with being a presentable mommy. In fact, I believe that my kids appreciate it when I pull myself together and notice when I look a mess.

Sorry again, end of rant :)

    ReplyDelete
  162. FFM: Your husband is just the sweetest!!! And congrats on your giftcards.

PS: Love your outfits on polyvore. How do you do it????

    ReplyDelete
  163. sally: i just realized that you are Weab on polyvore! i love your creations...it's addicting isn't it? i also bought the ringspun beaded floral tee (in peacock). i felt guilty about spending that much on a t-shirt but it's a fun shirt that can be dressed up or down like you said. i also bought the Slub-cotton beaded shoe tee...i just love dressing up with those t's!

ffm: congrats on your solo shopping spree...i too have been able to do that since my son started preschool...unfortunately it means i have more time to do credit card damage ;)

    ReplyDelete
  164. sally: I know EXACTLY what you mean! I feel like I have been on a personal mission to prove to other SAHM's (Stay at Home Moms) that you CAN still be FASHIONABLE, with hair and makeup done, and cute clothing on a DAILY basis! All it takes is a little bit of effort, and you really feel so much better about yourself and the entire day! I really don't understand how someone can not actually care.

    ReplyDelete
  165. FFM, Vivian & Sally: I know! Its true here in NYC you can always spot the tourists (this doesnt mean international, this means the slobification of America) because they are seriously the WORST dressed.

I have gone across the street late at night to the duane read in my gym clothes or something. But really I do not understand those who think its ok to go more than a block from their house dressed that way! Where did that idea come from?

Also I want to know who the moron was that asked if Stacey and Clinton were an item.. DUH HE IS GAY! Also I liked what Stacey had to say about her gray streak.

    ReplyDelete
  166. P.S. Sally, I love your Polyvore outfits!

  172. A couple weeks ago, some of the awesome people here recommend Boden USA. In lieu of all the problems with J Crew, I gave Boden a try and ordered a V neck cotton-cashmere sweater. Shipping is free and there's no tax. The company is also very open about the return process, or the "No Quibble Guarantee and Returns," by giving detailed instructions both on the website and in the order confirmation e-mail. This gives great first impression already. I will let you all know if the product matches up to J Crew's. I still have J Crew love, but not until it gets its act together.

    Best,
    Patrick

  173. Just went to the site and there is an apology on the front page . . . apologies are nice but you can't wear them--how about a discount code?

    ReplyDelete
  174. This is kind of off topic, but speaking of JCrew's screwups -- does anyone else have the Keaton pants? I have two pairs, both of which already have holes on the seams. The first ones already had them when I put them on, and the other one appeared after a couple of hours. And they're not even tight! What gives?? Anyone else experience this?

  175. Now J.Crew web site is completely collapsed (1:00am EST). CEO apologizes on webpage, which is not normal.

    “We’ve made some mistakes…
    (Too many in our mind)
We want to say that we're very sorry for any issues you have experienced while shopping J.Crew online or over the phone over the last few weeks – we know we’ve let you down.

We are in the midst of making some enhancements to our website and call center (and, unfortunately, encountered some bumps along the way). Please bear with us as we work through these issues – we know it’s not perfect.

    We appreciate your patience.

    Millard Drexler, chairman of CEO
    Tracy Grander, president”

Even though CEO apologizes, my Fiona will not be shipped:(

  177. wow, and it's from drexler no less. i hope they got some new people in to fix this disaster and fast! at least they have acknowledged their mistakes...

hexicon: yes, a nice discount code would help to win back all the online customers who have been staying away like myself - but only if the website works! ;)

  178. OK, now I feel super stressed that I rushed home and got that Ecole just because the SA told me to (more or less). I know that I can return it if I so choose, but I feel like maybe I had the big "S" for sucker on my forehead or something. Yikes! Also, since I have been vacationing and out of the loop, why am I receiving all these gift cards? I have gotten well over $300 worth and they have arrived UPS but over the course of several days. Also, I haven't received my actual rewards card OR look book yet. Darn! Off to try and undo my Ecole jacket purchase if I still can. LOL.

  179. If J.Crew knows that system is not working, they should shut down web completely. Still website shows sales site, which does not make any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  180. J.Crew needs to take a drastic measure and shut down their direct sales. Keep the retail stores open, disconnect the red phones and stop taking orders online and by phone. Keep the CS staff on to assist us with existing orders and bring the website back online when things actually work as they are intended. They have a few months still before the holidays and need to use this time to get it right before things REALLY go bad.

I totally agree with you. Keeping imperfect website open like this makes customers extremely frustrated and hurts the credibility of J.Crew.

  182. I just went onto the JCrew website to change somethings in my shopping cart and the following message popped up...
"We've made some mistakes... (too many in our mind). we want to say that we're sorry for any issues you have experienced while shopping J.Crew online or over the phone over the last few weeks-we know we've let you down.

  183. Wow, check out the apology/admittance of wrongdoing on the jcrew.com main page. Funny though, they don't offer any kind of, um, anything, for all the inconveniences, but wow. It's kind of a big deal for them to admit they've screwed up (royally, I might add).

    ReplyDelete
  184. Wow, talk about too little too late! I agree with those of you that say they should just shut it down (replace the "Be Back Soon" page with that apology page) and fix the mistakes! Or at least, completely get rid of the sale page until they can figure out what inventory they have and what they don't... it's just too tempting. I can't imagine what it's like for first-time shoppers to jcrew.com that nab an item or 2 out of the final sale without knowing there's a chance they were never available for purchase to begin with. Many years ago, I worked CS for a retail website and I know how much angst it causes somebody to place their trust into ordering something online and not receive it in a timely matter (or at all).

It's awful for CS reps as well, since they have to do damage control for whoever's horrible idea it was to "upgrade" the website. When I called last week looking for my Joelle's, the rep just kept placing me on hold to see if she could find a tracking number, then trying to find out if the items were available, but couldn't get me an answer on either. Luckily, I knew what to expect based on all your experiences! This whole thing has been such a mess - surely they've lost more money in the last month than they ever had with savvy shoppers finding non-FS links, and getting b&m prices online, etc. It's just too bad for them, especially since their loyal customers aren't stopping their shopping, just taking it elsewhere (GapInc., Boden, eBay, etc.). And when all this stuff gets fixed for real, will we even trust to place an order? If their whole MO was not make people want to shop sales, the approach was a little extreme, but it worked! I won't be touching the final sale again. (Doesn't mean I'll be funneling all that $$ into full-priced items, JC. Sorry.)

  185. jcrewjunkie: You actually received $300 worth of gift cards while you were gone? Did you call about any of the problems you had with orders or did they just send them due to returns? What a pleasant surprise to come home to. :) Congrats!

  186. Just wanted to add a little something about the issue of being so upset over my orders...I was only going to pay $11.74 each for my Joelle Blouses (Sweet Papaya and Regal Purple), and $41 for each of my Kelly Jackets (Bright Flame and Navy), so that really was a BIG reason for being so upset and disappointed...it is also the reason why I wanted to wait to see if they came, rather than purchasing somewhere else...those prices can't be beat...only thing is, you actually have to RECEIVE the item for the price to be that good. ;) It's hard to look on Ebay for them knowing that I would have paid 1/4 of the price they are going for now...it sucks, really...anyways, just wanted to clarify in case anyone was wondering why I have been SO extra frustrated. :)

  187. Off Topic: 25 people have now used those Trixie Heels on Polyvore...so odd...anyone here planning on buying them? The people who are using them in their sets do not seem to be J.Crew "obsessed", either...

    ReplyDelete
  188. ffm: I mentioned this before, but for once, I am not planning on buying a pair of j.crew shoes! it's weird the obsession people have for them, at least on polyvore.

your sets are so good by the way! How are you getting rid of all the background junk that sometimes comes up? (like with the pair of jeans I always use)? Or to show the black background of jewelry items sometimes, but not others. you're already a polyvore pro!

    ReplyDelete
  189. FFM: Once again the heel is too high for me (I would tower over Mmiller which is not ok in my book). I will not be buy jcrew heels until they can do something 2.5 inches or under.

I do like the fabrics on the heel but shoes that arent leather are pretty impractical for NYC life where we walk everywhere and truly beat our shoes up.

    ReplyDelete
  190. kater: Thanks again for the compliments on the Polyvore sets...I am just having such a blast...I have found my "niche" or as my husband calls it "my version of Play Station", since I am obsessing about it like he and my boys do over their video games. ;)

As for the backgrounds: to make a pic have the black or white background, like on jewelry...once the pic is added to your set, click on it, and then on "show big" at the top of the screen...that will put the background on that individual pic. For the example of the jeans...I just add background pics behind and around the "extra" stuff on my item's pic, and it usually helps hide the unnecessary extras that it has. With the backgrounds you need to do the same as with the Show Big...keep clicking on the Background button until all of the pics you want in front appear, and do the same with the Foreground button when you want a shirt to be in front of pants or vice versa. Hope this helps...let me know if you have any other questions. :)

  192. On an off-note,
has anyone compared the tulip coat to the lady-day? I'm deciding between them in a sea salt color:)

Sorry I wasn't sure if this could go under this post

    ReplyDelete
  193. Anon @10:14: I have also been in love with the Lady Day and Tulip coats, and in Sea Salt, no less. ;) Too bad it doesn't get cold long enough in Florida to justify getting one. :( In my opinion...I think the Tulip will not be as timeless as the Lady Day, due to the sleeves...I am afraid it will becomed "dated" in a year or two, whereas the Lady Day will have more longevity. I have featured both in a couple of my Polyvore sets seen Here and also Here in Black ...hope this helps with your decisions. :)

  194. thanks a bunch, fabulousfloridamommy=) I think your post has definitely pushed me toward the lady day!

  195. Does anyone own the Sweet Papaya Bubble necklace? If so, do you have a lot to wear it with - or do you think the turquoise color could be worn with more?
