UPGRADE: 40% Off Final Sale at J.Crew {& free shipping!}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including rachel (in this post), as well as judy {coffeeshopandfunnyfaces} (in this post), who shared the following promotion from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew has bumped up their offer for customers to take an additional 30% to 40% off all sale items (no min) with promo code STYLE40. Plus, they threw in free shipping on every order (no min). Wahoo! This offer expires tomorrow, Monday, February 18, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of sale items at jcrew.com from February 17, 2013, 12:01am ET through February 18, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew stores, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or to the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or combined with any other promotion. To redeem online, enter code STYLE40 in the promo code box at checkout. Orders will be shipped via regular ground shipping (3 to 6 business days) and return requests must be made in accordance with our return policy. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Limit one promo code per order. Terms of offer are subject to change.
Fabulous! I love this offer- it really is a great deal. (Honestly, what a surprise! I was not expecting J.Crew to upgrade this promotion while it was still running.)

J.Crew had a tiny update to their Final Sale section online (click here) this morning. Lots of merchandise for everyone (660+ for Women and 200+ for Men).

As many of you have mentioned, brick and mortar (B&M) stores are offering an additional 30% off sale in stores. Not sure if they will be increasing the percent off to 40% today too. If you are stopping by a store later today, please let us know!

While on the topic of J.Crew stores... I notice my local store has some new items on sale like the Wool-Silk Map Scarf (item 96115; $59.50) for $39.99. (This scarf is gorgeous in person!) So it might be worth it for JCAs to visit their local store to see what is new-to-sale.

Will you be checking out the Final Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. I checked out the update this mornign but didn't get anything. Must call CS and see about a price adjustment on all the stuff that I already bought.

P.S.: Anyone else noticed that the sale update for women was 666? lol

    1. D*ska: LOL! I did notice the number 666 for Women too! ;)

    2. I noticed that too, and it's still just sitting at that same number.

    3. Could you let us know what they tell you? Everything I got in the past week is now 40off. Will be calling them as soon as I land back in us! Grr

    4. Masha - they did an adjustment for me via email.

    5. Just got off the phone with VPS and it went swimmingly. Got the adjustment on two orders and the lovely lady at the other end told me that I'm always welcomed to call her for these such adjustments and anything else that I may need. I love J.Crew's customer service and I've never had a bad experience with their CS. I did get a little red around the ears when she mentioned the fact that I "shop with them often". Ha!

    6. D*ska - did they allow a PA on final sale items or an item that is currently OOS?

      Delete
    7. The VPS said that the PA was for the entire order, including the final sale items and items that have since gone back to full price. Since both orders already shipped I'll be receiving a credit on my account. HTH

    8. I got an adjustment for the order that I placed on Saturday but I also placed two orders last week at 30% off so working with the VPS to see if I can get a price adjustment on those also. Nothing that I purchased in any of the orders were Final Sale including a pencil skirt (pop back) from last year.

    9. Thanks ladies! I had no problems with my promo priced items being adjusted last night and just sent another email for my final sale item I purchased on Tuesday. Hoping for the best. My first adjustment was $50!

    10. J. Crew's CSR are super nice. I'm glad you all got your adjustments. I've always had such an easy time dealing with them. I swear they almost never say 'No' to my requests.

    12. Thanks to your comments here, I called customer service too regarding an order I haven't yet received. The guy I got was a bit of a crank and wasn't going to give me the extra 10% off until I requested to speak to his supervisor! Immediately, he said he'd see what he could do. Ultimately he did adjust that order to refund back to my credit card, but it wasn't without a bit of coercion.

  2. Almost fell out of bed this morning when I saw the 40% off. I ordered a few things and used my rewards card. None of the items were final sale. That's always good.

  3. WOW! Great deal. I was able to snag a Lady Day jacket in indigo tweed...have been waiting for a popback with a decent promo for weeks now. Also threw in the pop-art tee since it was on promo. Wasn't expecting to like that tee, but it is really cute paired with a pencil skirt!

    Thanks for the update, Alexis!

    1. Bah...NOT Lady DAY jacket...just Lady.

    2. How does the tee fit? I bought a small, based on reviews however i usually wear a medium in the favorite tee. Not sure if i should get a medium today just in case...

      Delete
    3. I ordered a size down (xs). When I tried my "usual" size small, it was very loose and I had a lot of extra room. Since I would be wanting to layer it, I want it closer to my body. I think you will be fine in the small!

  4. I called CS and they agreed to do a "one time" price adjustment. I ordered some promo items for the spring last week, and I am very happy to get an additional 10% off! Looking forward to some minty items: Merino colorblock cardigan, toothpick jean in timeless turquoise, reverse-jacquard stripe popover and pop art dot tee. I think I will bite the bullet and get some full price items since there is free shipping on all orders. I am addicted.

  5. Okay, got lured in, but nothing was Final Sale, thank goodness, as I'm not sure what I'll keep. I got a couple of Tippis to try colors, the Sera top in Medallion Paisley (love this print, but reviews have said that it runs large so I sized down, but we'll see), the reverse-jacqaurd stripe popover (I haven't seen any reviews on this one and it looks interesting), and the frog bracelet (I could resist no longer).

  6. Does anyone think the sweaters will go back to 30% off in stores? I missed the navy tippi on promo. Also, saw some pretty new crystal necklaces in store that I don't see online yet. One had really pretty smoky brown color crystals.

    1. I'd suggest giving the Factory merino classic crewneck a try; the navy one is currently 30% off of $49.50. It's the exact same cut and fabric as the Tippi.

      Delete
    2. Great idea, thanks! Does anyone know if these fit similar to the tippi? They look nearly identical. Thanks for any info on factory version :)

      Delete
    3. My store is doing 25% off all sweaters currently. Not sure when it ends.

    4. I wear the same size in the Factory sweaters as I do in the retail Tippis.

  7. I was just updating the men's promo-priced items list and noticed that the Broken-in Tee is at a promo-price of $5.20 before the 40% off in Cloud purple, Old Brick, Vintage cobalt, and Lemon Pulp. That makes those colors $3.12 after the promo and not final sale...great deal for those interested in the tees.

    1. Thanks FFM. Those are a great deal. Needed some more lounge tees and can't go wrong at this price.

    2. Thanks for the heads-up, FFM! I never remember to check out the bargins for me. At $3.12, my BF will wear just about any color I get him. :o)

  8. I am so frustrated! Any ideas would be nice: yesterday I purchased tje med satchel on promo plus the 30% off and used $45 worth of goft cards. It was $1.50 shot of free shipping so I threw in a final sale turtleneck. This morning of course its 10% less and free shipping on all orders. I called, asking them to adjust to switch coupons since it hasnt even shipped yet, and she said no(ive done this no problem before). I then called back just to cancel the order and redo it myself, they said they cant cancel once its in the system. I said I dont have it and it hasnt even shipped yet. She said no. I guess I could just reorder the purse and return the other, but where would my goft card values go?

    1. Thanks wellfedfred and unknown. I called again, said I wanted to cancel an order and was told I couldnt and that just couldnt be right and wanted to ask somone else. She was much nicer, asked why, I told her my husband hadnt been very happy (probably true). She still said they couldnt cancel but would put a note on my acct that the whole thing is returnable, even final sale turtleneck. I HATE this game.

    2. Oh, Hannah. What a pain. I'm glad you will be able to at least return the order. But still. Argh!

      Delete
  9. You can cancel the order. Call back again. They have called the warehouse for me to stop the order.

Do not mention the new promo. Just say something like: "I've overspent my bugdet and I'm making bad decisions and shopping too much. Please help me."

Once they stop the shipment, start over.

The gift card will eventually be reissued.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hannah, call again and maybe you'll get someone nicer and more helpful - a few JCAs have gotten adjustments this morning!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hannah, I agree. Keep calling until you get someone that will give you the PA, if not re-order there are plenty of the bags available. Then return the original order and they will either reissue the gift cards or if you paid the balance with J Crew they may just credit the gift card value to your account. Good luck.

  11. I bit on some cashmere sweaters. I mean, for $60 ea!? I love that they offered free shipping because that is the deciding factor in most cases for me! And that 666 stock number was frightening! Lol! I hoped my purchases would change it!

  12. Thank you, J.Crew! Have been waiting for free shipping and an extra percent off...purchased another pair of J.Crew Etta's...I love this shoe. If you have not tried it, you may want to...sooo comfortable! :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi A Sister Thing! Could you give some input for the fit for the Etta? I got "burned" on a pair of Mona before because they run almost a 1/2 too small for me. Wanted to know if I need to size up for Etta. THANKS!

      Delete
    2. Shoe sizes with j crew have been very challenging for me. I am a size 8 in most brands but needed a 9 in the Etta and the Martina. For cece flats sometimes an 8 fits and sometimes the 8.5 is better. All sandals so far it has been size 8. As for comfort and walking in the Etta shoe... It seems steady but awkward because the heel is so high. I wear heels often but none this high and I don't think I could spend a day in them or walk much of a distance. Beautiful shoe but wish is was a bit less high.

      Delete
    3. Hello Ladies...I agree the Mona's run a bit small, best to size up a half size, however, I do buy my normal size in the Etta's and they are very comfortable to me...so much so that I now have six pairs. :) Love this shoe. Although the heel is high, I feel because it is a wider heel, it helps to make it comfortable. I work as a Guidance Counselor, so I am on my feet most of my work day. The Etta by J.Crew are my favorite work shoe. :)

      Delete
  13. Oh how interesting. I have been terrified of the Ettas because the heel is so high. Are they really comfortable? (I am usually a wimp about anything over 2.5 inches. Maybe I can make it to 3). Does the fat heel make the shoe really walkable?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In my opinion, the Ettas are horribly uncomfortable. I wear heels quite a bit, and I couldn't even stand to walk around the house in them. I took my normal size; perhaps if I had gone up a half size they would have been better, I don't know. I didn't have the desire to try since I know if a shoe is uncomfortable, I won't wear it anyway. I believe what makes them uncomfortable for me is the narrow toe box, which is the same problem I had with the Monas.

      Delete
    2. Thanks CapitolMom! From your feedback, I think I will stick with Cole Haans. They are pricey but with Nike Air technology, I feel like I can actually run with them if I had to.

      Delete
    3. I had a disaster with the Ettas. My usual size wasn't merely snug--I literally could not put my foot into them. I'm convinced they were mismarked but who knows. Luckily was allowed to return them.

  16. I ordered a tippi in papaya, tippi cardigan in lemon pulp, short sleeve silk blouse in papaya, fleece shorts in red, and a bunch of tee shirts. I also ordered some things for my husband (shorts, tee shirts, a hoodie, a sweater, and a jacket).

No final sale this time! I got stuck with 3 final sale fails last week. When will I learn?
I mail most of my returns like a coward. I'd rather pay return shipping than face the people at my local store. Ha. Anybody else do that?

    1. I used to... then I grew a pair. I kid. I did that when I lived in NYC and returning in person proved to be way too much of a chore. I order a lot and return a lot so I'm thankful not to be paying that return shipping fee. The SAs at my store are really cool about it. I've never gotten any lip. My VPS even encourages me to experiment with stuff I've never seen since I live so close to a B&M and can return at will.
There's no reason to feel weird or scared or self-conscious or anything. It's your money and your taste.

Thankfully I haven't gotten stuck with any FS items this year (but teh year is young).

    2. I agree with D*ska, J Crew invented these pricing games, store vs. online, one day promos, discounts changing. I work hard for my money and love J Crew, I am sure they are willing to take your returns as well as your money. For every $ that they give me in PA they gain in $'s in a sale. I used to get the 'one time courtesy' and now they are more than willing to do price adjustments. I usually say, "would you be willing to give me a price adjustment or should I re-order?"

      Delete
    3. I once asked a SA if online returns impact their store sales numbers. She explained that online returns are handled separately and do not impact their "regular" b&m sale figures. She was very helpful and helped me returned the boat load of stuff I had ordered. No stress at all.

    1. FFM- Sending you a pic for your you look familiar post. BR Factory has their version of JCrew's last summer Pom pom shell in a bright orange and pale yellow version. The pom poms are smaller and the fabric thinner, but the shell is more fitted and it also does not have that priest like collar that J Crew had last year. I also saw their version of the eyelet shell too. So if you missed out on J Crew's last summer, these are good alternatives.

  29. I ordered during the 30%...may have to give them a call to get a PA.

I went to my B&M today, NYC 5th Ave at 17th St. Sale section was a little sad. Striped Jackies, a few pea coats in weird colors, double-serge wool #2s, and a couple of other things. I am obsessed with the double-serge wool #2 and almost got the vivid jade, but resisted. I also got to see some of the new spring colors for the tippi, jackie, etc and wasn't loving any of them (except the ones I already have!). I saw some things I know were on sale online that were FP in-store, but they were having a 25% all sweaters.

I did ask the SA about the educator discount. She said it applied to everything in the store, except for partnership items (Liberty shirts, etc.). It stacks with % off sale discounts, and other promos like the 25% off sweaters. I think this contradicts what I have heard others say about the discount.

  30. Lake Forest IL had several Excursion Vests today in pink and flame for 79.99. Sale section is extra 30. Also one lonely French hen sweater in XS and quite a few of the pear sweaters in various sizes, I think 59.99. I saw some pencil skirts and cashmere, too, but overall the sale section was small.

I didn't bite on the extra 40 because I try to avoid FS online, but the deals on coats looked really good.

  35. Ran up to my local store to today before I pulled the trigger of buying anything online. So glad I did. Here is are some quick reviews:

Reverse-jacquard stripe popover: So much better once on. Fits TTS (took a S, I'm a 6 in tops for reference), but if this was a tad longer this would have taken this from liked to loved. This is probably more my issue than anything...I feel like things are getting shorter..buy maybe it is in my head? ha. Anyways, both color are great...the bright seaside seems to be the most popular color at my store.

Pop Art Dot Tee: TTS...this was a bit loose on me, but not enough to size down. 100% linen.

Boy shirt in dots: Love this shirt. TTS (took my normal 6) and no gapping between the buttons (which is a big deal for me). Anyone have both this and the chambray perfect shirt in polka dot from last spring? Would this be overkill to have both even those they aren't identical?

Indian voile popover: Beautiful colors, but it ended there for me. I had major gapping issues between the buttons more so than any other shirt and every shirt I looked at the seams looked like they were close to coming apart near the arms. I was so looking forward to this shirt...bummer!

  36. I got my pop art dot tee on Friday, and I love the green color! The XS fits - just a little boxy, but looks great tucked into skirts. I might return it though since it's hand wash. I thought the online description said machine wash. How do y'all take care of your hand wash clothes? I usually avoid them because it seems more time-consuming.

I also received my short-sleeve silk blouses in size 0. I'm a 0 in boy shirts and between 0 and 2 in Blythe. These were too tight in the shoulders for me, so I ordered a 2 today with the 40% promo to see if that fits better.

The fleece nautical colorblock popover fits TTS. I usually wear XS and accidentally ordered the small. It's really soft, and the modern red color is one of my faves. Too bad it was final sale and the wrong size!

  37. I got my Factory box--the 30% promo shipping.

The military jacket--I put it on and my husband walked in the room and said: "Wow. Nice." So, I'm keeping it. I know someone else didn't like it very much, so obviously you'll have to decide for yourself. But thumbs up from me.

However, I find this jacket to run quite large. I'm a 2 in Schoolboys--I ordered an XS in this and could probably have sized down even more, but will keep this size to accomodate thick sweaters.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the material--it's a rather thick and heavy cotton. I like the length and the drawstring waist. I find the collar sort of high--but it's a nice kind of dramatic high. Still, consider sizing down.

I got the polyester heart mini skirt--and it's going back. The same print is on the silk boy shirt, and that is quite cute. But the skirt looks cheap by contrast, and the colors are dead and flat.

I am hoping for a surprise 25% off full price items tomorrow. Call me a dreamer . . . but that's what I want!

It will be a while 'til I'll be able to wear it due to my leg cast and crutches, but at least I can try it on and admire it!

I got a black Edie for $118 after the discount and then used my rewards card so it was only $75! Crossing my fingers that it actually arrives...

  42. This promo is amazing.

I bought a Jackie twin set for $40, a vivid jade pencil skirt for just $24, and best of all, none of it is final sale!

  43. I just got an email reply to my request for a price adjustment on a STYLE30 order from last week. I'm getting about $50 back! Of course they added the usual 1 time courtesy blah, blah. blah. Time to start shopping!

  44. I bought the Ryder buckle boots in black . I've been waiting for my size to pop back. I have never tried it in person so I am hoping it will fit well and be comfortable. Still waiting for my funnel coat to arrive.....

    1. Oh my gosh - I want that too! I love the print but am afraid the shirt is too daring. I just saw that they are putting the print on toothpick jeans too! WOAH!

    2. I have the bag.. the size is the same as a small LV Neverfull. The print is very vibrant.. for the price, a keeper!

  47. Even though I wasn't going to shop at all this month, I couldn't pass this deal up. I finally pulled the trigger on the Collection classic Liberty ballet flats. It's my favorite Liberty print and they're not final sale so that's good!
Also bought the Crewcuts Spotted sequin cluster tee in size 14, final sale. If it doesn't fit me, my babysitter will be very happy.

  48. I filled up my shopping cart with a few items on Sat. and went all the way through the checkout until the very end and decided not to buy. Anyone else do this? I do it ALL THE TIME! Then saw the 40% sale and had to pull the trigger. Bought the medium satchel in black (are people liking this bag?) and a couple tanks with built-in bras. For $11 how can I pass that up?
