This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!

I'd love help styling my berry pink lady jacket from Fall 12. It made a lot of rounds on blogs but I haven't seen any looks that I think I could pull off. I'm very short but not as tiny as the petite bloggers out there (I'm size 2P for reference). Also, what I've found challenging is that the stripes on it are navy blue, not black, and I don't own any navy.
ReplyDeleteI need help with the hacking jacket in autumn coral that I got in January. The color is brighter than I expected - bordering on neon. I wore it with dark jeans one day for casual Friday, which was good, but I need some other ideas for styling.
ReplyDeleteJoy, when I want to "tone down" a bright color, I pair it with related, but less bright colors in the same family. As an example, I wear my shocking pink tippi with a heather burgundy pencil skirt. Both warm colors, and the skirt tones down the sweater.
DeleteSince the jacket is warm and a bright orange-coral, pair it with a warm but muted color. Brick or burgundy pants or skirt, for example.
I actually had a question about sizing. I usually wear a size small in the regular Tippi sweaters (the XS fits my torso better but I have athletic arms and the sleeves on the XS are a bit snug). Does everyone get the same size in the Tippi cardigan as the regular pullover Tippi? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteI think the tippi cardigan runs bigger than the pullover. I would size down.
DeleteI have 4 sets of Tippis, same size in both items. The sleeves are also tight on the cardigans so if that's your "trouble" area, I would not size down.
DeleteSame sizes for both for me!
DeleteThanks for the replies everyone! I appreciate the advice!
DeleteNicole, if you're going to hand wash the Tippi cardigan, I'd go with the small. I have the same issue with the tight sleeve syndrome and have broad shoulders. Bought an XS Tippi cardigan and after one hand wash, it is pulling across the collarbone when I attempt to wear the cardigan buttoned up.
DeleteHi, I am hoping someone could provide some suggestions. I purchased the tipped boy shirt in alabaster black (the ivory with tipped black collar) and it is very sheer! I am debating what to wear underneath so it doesn't look too obvious beneath the blouse. I tried a regular white tank top and it was unsightly. TIA!
ReplyDeleteYou can wear silk top underneath, color should
