Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. The newly re-opened women's J. Crew at South Coast Plaza has no sale section/items whatsoever right now, all spring collection.

  2. I popped into the Eaton Centre store yesterday and quite a bit of the spring collection was out on display. I tried on the Gilded brocade top and a few other things. The Gilded brocade top is beautiful I really admired it but I have no idea where I would wear it. My favourite was something I hadn't even noticed on the website, the Maritime blazer in the black and tan stripe. The construction of the Maritime blazer has been improved - the cotton knit is denser and stiffer, and there is a partial lining in the shoulders. Overall it looks much sharper than in past seasons, and it's on my wishlist now for when they run a full price promo. (I actually tried the Maritime blazer a couple years ago and mailed it back immediately because it looked so sloppy.) The sale section was very limited and it looked like most of it had been sent away to the warehouse. Anyway, definitely won't be heading in this weekend - we are totally snowed in here in Toronto!

  3. Was so looking forward to heading to NJ yesterday and hitting a couple of J Crew stores while visiting a friend. But decided with the storm to wait and go later in the month, hopefully there will be new merchandise and a great promo to couple with the no sales tax on clothes.

    2. Great reviews, glad the bracelet worked for you. The bracelet goes with my Cashmere Tee in that color from last year and a J Crew necklace that I bought from EBay. Enjoy!!

  4. Digging out of six more inches of snow yesterday in the north Chicago suburbs and hoping to make it in over the weekend. Seems like the sale sections are pretty picked over and threadbare at this point but I will look anyway. And I have a long list of new arrivals to try on and see IRL as I wait patiently for a promo!

  5. As others have noted, sale is essentially gone - only one small rack in my local B&M yesterday. I did see a t-shirt which is not online, though, (even when searching the style number) so keep an eye out for retail-only items!

  6. OT but for those JCAs in the Maryland area (specifically Rockville, Gaithersburg area), they will be opening a new J Crew store in the CrownFarm urban development project across from the Rio Center. We met with a developer there to inquire about leasing ops and they were telling us all the retail/restaurants that have already leased. He named J Crew--I think it will end up being a small store and you'd still have to head to Tysons or Georgetown for Collection items. Nonetheless, how exciting, but my wallet might be in trouble!

  7. I went to my local store this afternoon to check out the new arrivals. I tried on a number of items and despite my initial thoughts from seeing the items on the website, I did not buy anything. It was almost entirely a sizing issue. Without exception, everything I tried was too short. I am on the tall side but still was surprised. I tried the tweed front tee in both navy and pink. I loved the pink especially but it was short and very boxy. My biggest disappointment was the merino top with the floral print silk panel. Again, too short and quite boxy. Loved the gilded brocade tunic but too short. Also tried the reverse jacquard shirt, tippi cardigan in the navy, grey, green colour block style, the daisy lace tee, the micro tweed jacket in navy and an origami sheath dress. All too short. Good for my bank account though!!

    1. This is why the Crew is making me SO sad with their recent collections. I am 6 feet tall and probably 90% of their stuff is WAY too short for me! I wrote Mickey about my frustrations and have not heard back!

    2. Hi Barbara. It is so frustrating. I am 5'9 so not quite as tall as you. I would be inclined to buy so much more from jcrew if their sizing was not so short. Maybe I will try an email to Mickey too. One good thing about today was that it was fairly slow in the store and I had two sales associates hovering around while I was trying stuff on. They both remarked that about the short lengths. Maybe they will provide some feedback to HQ.

    3. I'm six feet tall as well, and feeling more and more like JCrew is simply not going to work for me any longer. I usually shop their website (I live about an hour from the closest store), and while the pictures on the site frequently look like they might fit, I keep actually getting things like the Snowcap jacket, which only reached the halfway point between my chest and my waist!

    4. Hi Shima Maceo. Thanks for the reviews. I share your frustration. Although the tall sizes fit very well, aside from a small amount of suiting, pants, pencil skirts and coats it is slim pickings for us tall JCA's. I wonder if Jenna Lyon has her J Crew pieces custom made since she is 6'tall. You'd think that she would have some influence when it comes to producing more tall sizes but it probably comes down to whether it is profitable or not. I personally have not bought as much J Crew in recent years due to a combination of the lack of tall sizes as well as quality issues.

  8. Hi Shima Maceo, other than being too short, what can you tell me about the daisy lace tee? Thanks so much. Maybe my size will be big enough to not be too short.

    1. Hi shelter. I tried it in the ivory colour. I am not sure if it comes in other colours. The top, back and sleeves are a fairly light weight t-shirt material. The daisy lace is a nice weight and very pretty. I thought it would look great under a suit jacket and of course could be worn more casually. Honestly, but for the fact that it was too short, I would have purchased it. It was not as boxy as the other tops I tried, though it was not a slim fit either. I hope that helps!

    2. Sorry, replying to shekster. Darn auto correct!

    3. Yes, Shima Maceo, that helps a great deal. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.

  10. I stopped by to pick up the new style guide (which is full of eye-rolling makeup and styling) and check out the new arrivals. Was hoping to love the two new fatigue jackets but both were underwhelming in person. All the new shirts, though -- the liberty prints, the chambray variations, as well as a stunning white popover with little bleed-throughs of color that's not online yet -- were beautiful, and I fell in love with the Crystal Venus flytrap necklace. Tartine satchel looks cheap IRL.

    1. Caille, I saw that white popover, too, assumed I had missed it online and didn't bother to write down the style number. Darn it! Did you happen to make a note?

    2. Hi Lark, no I didn't, but the store is really close to me so I'll stop back in next week and make a note of it!

    3. Bummer about the fatigue jackets :(

    4. I liked the fatigue jackets and bought the Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket full price, then thought better of it and returned it. I'll re-buy it if it goes on sale enough. I loved it, but not full-price loved-it. I haven't tried on the longer one but I like the looks of it. I agree they don't really stand out, but that is what I like about them. I liked that white shirt with the little flecks of color too, that was cool.

  11. Oh, you're sweet! Don't make a special trip for me, though ;) But I'm glad someone else thought that shirt was amazing!

  12. I have 2 J. Crew Factory codes/cards--20% off $125+ at Factory stores or jcrewfactory.com through 3/31. Please let me know if you would like the online code or the physical card itself (it has a barcode for SAs to scan in-store)

I will send the codes to the first two JCAs who respond. jaw392 (at) gmail (dot) com.

  13. Popped in to a local B&M today as I was killing time. They are running a 25% off full price scarves promotion in store so I picked up both of the bazaar scarves (item 34544) -- both colors are gorgeous and with the wool/silk mix, I think would be good year round.

The only other two items I was tempted by were (1) the peter pan merino sweater in stripe (item 36078, $89.50) in the navy/nectar color way; and the (2) the tilda rhinestone top ($110) in either the white or classic blue oxford. The peter pan sweater was totally cute, and this color combo is adorable. I found the grey/white to be a little bland. The only reason I didn't get this is that the merino is similar to the polka dot tipis, which I found snagged a little easily. This needs to be on sale before I purchase. The same with the rhinestone top. It is REALLY, REALLY cute. But it's dry clean only and I go to the dry cleaners maybe twice per year. (Husband does his own dry-cleaning, as of last year -- yay!!) I would probably not risk machine wash, even on the gentle cycle, and I just am not interested in either hand washing or ironing. I would wear this as a casual shirt, and this is way too much effort, as very cute as it is...

  14. Went to a b&m yesterday for the first time in months. Some thoughts...

Tried on the Liberty-collar merino sweater in navy. I grabbed a small and while it fit fine, it felt boxy yet a little short in the torso. The collar was also really hard to button/unbutton. I didn't try a xs to compare, unfortunately, but I would imagine that sizing down would make it even shorter.

I surprisingly liked the pop-art tee in the mint color. I don't need any graphic tees but this one was really cute. You can probably size down in this...I tried a small but it had plenty of room.

My favorite try-on (and eventual purchase) was what appears to be an in-store only item...a chambray polka dot schoolboy blazer. I fell hard for this piece. It's going to look darling over colorful knit dresses in the summer! Fit TTS, but size up if you'll be doing a lot of layering.

  15. Stopped by my B&M while in the mall. Couple of items on promo, tippi cardigans $59.50, enamel bracelets 25% off, mini bags price match to online. Scarves as Audreys mentioned.
