Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the FALL sale, or to see some new HOLIDAY arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I made a quick stop last night to return 2 tops and found the donegal sweater marked down to 59.99. I love this sweater (and it's gone online). There were lots of cords on sale and lots of tees. I didn't look at sizes or prices as the store was closing. I did see lots of the new tees and I'm in love with the reindeer and snowflake tees! I wish I had ordered them last week with the 20% off. I also saw a new bow sweater vest, but I was not impressed. A new cotton sleeveless top with a ruffle down the placket that looked cute. No time to try anything on, though.

  2. I too made a trip to my B&M to make a few returns and noticed that the Chimera jacket is marked down to $79 in the store. I also noticed that the umbrellas that I love now have super cheap plastic handles. I usually treat myself to 1-2 jcrew umbrellas a year as I love the wooden handle and they really last and look good. Good thing I have a few stockpiled as they now are not so cute. I noticed a lot more tee's out but I cannot buy another $40+ tee especially in November! Forgot to mention that the union suits were also displayed already-not for me, but love them for my kids:)
    Happy Friday

  3. Twiga, I noticed the umbrellas last time I was in the store - they look like Gap umbrellas now, boooo! I always loved the wood handle umbrellas. Looks like there's going to be another item I wished I stocked up on, ha! Did you happen to notice the price? I'm wondering if it was the same as the wood-handled ones.

  4. Nothing this weekend, but I wanted to report with HAPPINESS that after nearly a full year of searching, I finally got the Ochre double serge pencil skirt on eBay last week! I had to pay $99 for it, which pained me, but I know I will knock the cost per wear down to like $1 before long so I'm OK with it. :-) Anyone else have any holy grails they've snagged lately? Would love to hear about 'em!

  5. Elaine - finally scored the spectator peep toe heels in graphite and at a very decent price too!!! I love some ebay :)

  6. Has anyone seen the Wool Bungalow Skirt in their J.Crew yet? I plan on stopping by at least one of the NYC J.Crews to see what's out. I'm in full-on gift shopping mode now though so I don't expect to buy anything.

Elaine, it was not on ebay but I did manage to score the Silk Indigo Skirt earlier this week as a popback. It arrived and is everything I'd hoped! That's awesome that you grabbed the Ochre DSPS, I have been stalking that one for awhile too. :)

  7. silver lining- I did not notice how much the umbrella's were... but they better not be $39 like the old ones!

  8. I have an appointment with a PS today to try and get some flattering things to wear through the holidays. I'd love to hear what others have seen new at the B&M, so I can narrow down my search today.

  9. Nada. I ordered a bunch with the recent promo and had to return EVERYTHING. Everything! Nothing fit right at all. I ordered the mint tweed griffin coat, but it's way brighter in person - and the blend makes it look like of "shaggy" - it has mohair so it looks like its shedding. So sad. I also tried the assymetrical bow sweater - the bow looked silly no matter how i tied it, and it showed my bra if the chiffon flopped the wrong way. And all the tees were super long? They just looked so silly. So unfortunately no new fun stuff.

  10. I have an appt with my PS and I need to return the midnight tweed gala jacket. It looks dreadful on me, the material is extremely thin, it's very boxy and may also run big :(

  11. Elaine and MaryMoo, congrats on the ebay finds. I just love ebay too. This year I managed to get serengetti Juliets, 2 pairs of Lulus and the holiest holy grail for me, a pair of lug-soled suede band/leather sole slides from about 5 years ago. I bought myself a pair when they came out and wore them constantly in the summer and on vacation, so comfortable and held up to everything but are just now starting to look worn. Saw a pair listed as used for $9.99 and bought them. Arrived looking absolutely brand new and size correct, everything perfect. I was so excited my husband said I should sit down and he would get me a drink. LOL These were over $100 new, I just couldn't believe my luck. SCORE!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Congrats to all on the great ebay finds! I got a pair of yellow Lulu heels earlier this year for less than what I saw them on sale on the web, so I did a happy dance. They're not the most comfy in the world, so my dance was short, but oh so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  13. xoxo, do the Serengeti juliets run TTS or did you have to size up? I heard that they ran smaller...how do they compare to the other juliets?
I know I am way late on the Juliet trend...

  14. I dropped by the Prince St. store yesterday and there are plenty new arrivals on the floor!

    - New colors of the Frances Cami
    - Plenty of new tees including glimmer mist tissue tee
    - Dream sequin coterie shell
    - Clustered constellation cardigan
    - Annalise ruffle cami
    - Gypsy rose cami - solid & metallic
    - Ika bow monde dress
    - Ruched viva party dress
    - Ellington skirt
    - Sequin jacket
    - Cotton victoria cami
    - Stardust sequin skirt

It's definitely more exciting than the previous new roll-out but at the same time, prices seem to be much higher on most items. I also saw a light green sequin ruffle cami (Collection item) retailed for $295! It's silk. Some collection items only come in certain sizes and very limited pieces.

Didn't see any new shoes though...

  15. Dinagideon - are you out there? I remember you mentioning loving Boden and am glad there's someone else probably just as happy today. Just got my 20% off spring merchandise at boden email. I am so excited. Bright colors, fun patterns, classic shapes. Merry Christmas to me!

    if anyone is interested.

  17. Tisha, I bought my regular size in the serengetti Juliets and had to stretch them to fit so I would say to size up 1/2 size or get them stretched if your regular size is too tight. You can buy your own shoe stretcher online for about $20 if that is something you think you'd use more than once. Caveat though, there are different stretchers for flats, heels and boots.

I only bought the serengetti Juliets so I can't comment on their fit compared to the others. I know that Gigi of Gigisgoneshopping blog has commented on the Juliets, you could probably ask her about sizing as well.

I really like my Juliets, hope you find yours.

  18. crewcrazy -- thanks for the heads-up about the 20% off spring goodies at Boden. I'll check now to see if I got that e-mail! Earlier in the week I ordered the lovely Long Stitch Cardigan in charcoal -- I needed a long coat-cardi for fall/winter, and this one looks so elegant and comfy. Can't wait to get it!

    ReplyDelete
  19. crewcrazy: I am out here...I am taking a few moments to catch up on some stuff (clears throat...catch up on blog reading).

I love that you got that e-mail. The spring preview items are so pretty. I think the colors, textures, and interesting takes on classic shapes are going to make a lot of these sell out early!

So definitely use the 20%!!! The other offers they often have are great and all, but 20% is one of their better ones!

My favorite is the Lilly P.-esque linen tunic in the shades of olive. Looks very flattering and perfect for spring and summer! What are thinking of getting???

On a J. Crew related note, has anyone been able to try on the tissue tee fabric victoria top in their stores? Any feedback? I am very interested in this top!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I went this week to return some items. Lots of Boyfriend Chinos, Carnation cluster tee, necklace tee, v-neck jewel tee, Chimera jackets, matchstick cords, silk posy top, etc...

In regards to umbrellas, I think they were $38.50 or $39, didn't check the handle but I love the wooden handle of mine from couple years ago. I hate this declining of quality...

Recently I scored my first Lulu metallic flats on ebay and I love them!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dina I really like Boden's printed skirts. I like the fun, printed and boardwalk skirts. I love the tunics - the olive is gorgeous. Also like the dotted poplin shirt. J Crew is still my #1 but Boden's gaining ground.

  22. Amy- I'm with u! Everything I bought is going back too!

The asymmetrical bow sweater is a mess! Looks nothing like the online styled picture! And the dolce sweaters itch all over! Love the style and cut but unless you wear a long sleeve inside you won't survive.

Passed by my b&m- bucket hats $14.99 & jaspe cardigans $19.99.

Cambridge store had a few Graphic striped cardigans $69.99. Cute, thin sweater but still pricey even at $70.

    Hth!

  23. Repeat from a previous topic...

If anyone comes across the Cotton Tuxedo Shirt (item #18056) in size 0 or 2, can you please let me know which store? I'm dying to get it and am kicking myself that I didn't buy it before it went on sale online.

    email: swinwoods@rogers.com

I want this shirt SO bad!!!

    TIA!

  24. ashley, hot diggity! You just made the decision for me to go in for a Jaspe cardigan. Thanks for the tip!

  25. grr, strike the trip into the B&M. I called and they'd already sold out of the cardigan. I may call around...

  26. I'm heading to the J Crew Outlet this weekend. The outlets I'm going to are Premiere Outlets, which are usually really good, but the discounts are only deep around the holidays. I will get to see stuff from last year and the year before, which I liked a lot better than this year.

    ReplyDelete
  27. dina~are you referring to the cotton sleeveless one? i have it in navy and love it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. tres tippy, I think that might be it...did you post on it yet? I am a little behind both in posting and reading! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I enjoy hearing what various stores have and reading what others find. Just want to say, "Thanks for all the posters!:)" Happy Shopping.

Emily, Would love a report back on what you find:)

  30. OT but I think I've found something at AT that does interest me. Love plaid! http://mybagoverfloweth.blogspot.com/2009/11/mad-for-plaid.html

  31. Spencer Patent-trim Suede Mary Janes (17197) in dusty blossom (lovely color) were marked down to $69.99!!! Still FP online

Also maybe behind the times here, but the ethreal merino Vnecks were $49.99 Sold out online

Tried on the cotton tissue Victoria and could go with my normal S or XS. It wasn't a wow piece, but I was in a rush. Maybe with a promo... (who am I kidding - with a promo I'd buy it in mutiples :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. mommydearesest, could you please name the store where you have seen the Spencer Mary Janes? thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  33. dina - I tried on the tissue victoria tank today. When they say tissue they really mean *tissue*. Even the navy was transparent! It was in the pajamas section, so I think they are supposed to be sleepwear, but the PS said that everyone is buying them to use as tops. The ruffles are perfect though and I woulda bought one if not for the thinness factor.

The PS also informed me that JC is going to stop making cableknit sweaters! This may be the last year they will be available, so STOCK UP NOW if that is your thing.

    Where-o-where is JC going...???

The only cute tee I may buy is the snowflake sequin one, that one is nice, the rest are too busy with all the beads and crap. I also really liked the dream sequined coterie shell, so nice IRL.

Herringbone hats for $9.99 in all colors and sizes at the Willow Grove, PA store. Tons of cheap longsleeved guys tees and thermals in the sale section, plus some great jeans for $70.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Patricia, the shoes were at Short Hills (NJ) I bought my normal size, but they didn't have 1/2 size up for me to try :)

Mags, that is funny about the Victoria being sleepwear! At my store, it was with the perfect pencils!

    ReplyDelete
  35. To all my fellow JCAs -->

Just got back from the mall and saw some cute embellished Ts at Aerie (the underwear/sleepwear arm of American Eagle), some beaded and some with transfer-type images. One super cute one called the Rosette T ($24.50) has two 3-D chiffon rosettes around the neckline, very similar to the one JC did in Spring. They're showing it online in white, but I saw it in-store in charcoal gray. Very cute and good price point.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mags,
Just as I suspected....JC is going in a different fashion direction. Such a shame as their new catalog is the pits style and item wise IMO...Thanks for the heads up. I am glad I have bought a lot in the many years past...

    ReplyDelete
  37. PS
    Mags,

I like your statement: "all the beads and crap" :) LOL

    ReplyDelete
  38. All cords are on sale in Marlton and Cherry Hill. Sparkly belts were on promo too. I picked up boot cut cords in light gray and a sparkly belt for 79 bucks. Woo-hoo!

    ReplyDelete
  39. No more cable knit sweater!?!?! Boo-hiss. Isn't that what J. Crew is made of?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Susan, was it the glitter belts? How much were they on promo?

Depressing if this is the new direction. Don't get me wrong, I like ruffles and beads and such, but I like them grounded with some well-done preppy, chic basics.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Has anyone seen the asymmetrical chiffon bow pullover in-store?

    ReplyDelete
  42. xoxo: thank you for the helpful info! I'll head on over to Gigi's blog.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I will not.

I know this is totally gauche, but I would highly recommend K-Mart's Jaclyn Smith cashmere sweaters. I know, that is ridiculous. But I have at least 10 JCrew cashmere sweaters, and I am sold on the K-Mart ones. They are regular $69.99, but today and tomorrow they are $34.99 in store and online. I saw them/tried them on in store earlier in the week and they are sooo soft, and definitely thicker than JCrew cashmere. I am too lazy to go back to the store so I just ordered 2, and got free shipping. I am pretty pumped.

So, no JCrew for me this weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tisha, I just got the serengeti juliets and they are definitely tighter than my regular patent ones. Size up if you can. I can't bc I wear a 10, so sad.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Patricia-
I recently visited the jcrew @ Sommerset collection in Troy MI and they had a TON of shoes- worth a try to see if they have what you are looking for. Everyone there is super!

    ReplyDelete
  46. One more in-store difference: Joley pearlized patent peep toes in shore pink (17000) were $79.99. Still FP online. The color is so lovely - it is not as pink as it appears online. Could certainly go that way but appears more neutral IRL. I am such a sucker for sale shoes! They aren't comfotable and are often still overpriced but I get sucked in....

    ReplyDelete
  47. Em,
Not ridiculous at all. If I am near a KMart I will check it out. I have a gray velvet Jac. Smith blazer from a few years ago. The velvet is plush and soft and very good quality. So, yes JS does make some nice things! (Plus, it is all made in China after all!)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Em, thanks for verifying the Juliet Serengeti fit! Size up it is then!

  50. I stopped at JC last night and tried on the tisue victoria, bling cardi, sequin skirt, and a couple other things. I'll have pics on my blog later. The victoria is cute but what season is this??? If it was spring, I'd be tempted

    ReplyDelete
  51. So, I did end up going in to the store for returns, and they did have the Jaspe cardis, I guess the SA who answered my call yesterday was just crewless. Unfortunately they don't fit the same as the Jaspe hoodies, which I had to size down in. They had one mislabelled XL, it must have really been an XS! Also a few Ls, which were very long and narrow, and most of them had dangling threads on the button placket. I ended up passing on it, since it just doesn't compare to the hoodie. Is it just me or is the fabric on the hoodies more substantial? Anyway, I left with a couple markdown goodies for DH. Several prints of men's oxfords were marked down to $19.99, and a bunch of socks were $2.99. Women's sale was pretty much same as last week, with the same markdowns as online. I took a peek at the cotton Victoria cami, and it really is thin and delicate. I wonder how the pleating will hold up on such an insubstantial fabric? I'm currently anti-tissue material, but this sure is cute, and I know I'll cave if it ends up being like ten bucks.

  53. Just an FYI--if anyone's still looking for the Contrast-Stitch Perfect Shirt from this summer, I saw three at the Tysons store in VA last night. It looked like they had a 0, a 6 and an 8. Sorry--I forgot to look at the price so I'm not sure if they were on sale or not!

Also, they had quite a few of the "Jaspe cardigans" for $19.99, although if I remember correctly, most of them were S or XS. The material is definitely thinner than the Jaspe sweatshirts. For reference, the look and fit of these is *very* similar to the perfect-fit cotton cardigans that are online right now (maybe even exactly the same?). FYI, here's the link:

  54. patricia, spencer mjs were also in paramus, nj store for 69.99. i got them in black 3 weeks ago for 99.99 and then exchanged last week when i saw them for 69.99. they had them in pretty much all colors and sizes. they are actually very comfortable (for a high heel shoe). i wore them twice to the office and got so many compliments it was almost embarrasing :)
i am going again today as I have tons of returns, i will report what they have but i am really crewed out this month

    ReplyDelete
  55. I tried on the vintage slim jeans. I love the style but they were enormous. Like, the 25's were falling off, and I'm normally not a 25.

I realize they're supposed to fit a little baggy, but this seemed extreme.

Anyone else have experience with this? I really want a pair of boyfriend jeans.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It's too bad if J.Crew is really going to stop making cable-knit sweaters. Not questioning the post, just the knowledge of the PS that made the statement. Sometimes they do get things wrong. Cable-knits are perennially popular basics, and those who love them can and will continue to buy them, just somewhere else. Ralph Lauren for one has some gorgeous colors available each year.

We've all heard the news that JC wants to move away from the preppy brand it used to be but some of those preppy items were really good. I recall an article in which Jenna said that items that had sold a $Million in the past were cut from the line because they didn't suit the new direction. That's too bad because obviously there is a market for those pieces if they are selling a $M worth and there could be room for them in the lineup. Especially since the latest new direction leaves a lot to be desired. Where are the rave reviews and excitement this fall?

I realize we JCAs are not necessarily reflective of the majority of J.Crew clientele, but certainly there are some devoted fans here. I am always able to find things I like but instead of a wide variety lately it seems to be only the basics: pencil skirts, perfect-fit shirts, jackets, coats and Jackie twinsets. For the rest of my wardrobe I look elsewhere. Thankfully there are plenty of options, especially with designers offering lower-priced lines due to the recession.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Captain Crew -- Good post, I couldn't agree more. THey need to keep an element of prep. I miss the fun colors. My PS said sales are down (I was in yesterday). They just don't have the desirable items they've had in the past. EVERYTHING has a ruffle!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. My local B&M had 30% off select outerwear. I got 30% off the sherpa puffer jacket plus another 15% on top of that. I ended up paying less than $100 for an originally $168 jacket! :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Right, who knows if they will actually stop the cable sweaters????

Just repeating a juicy rumor **wink**

I love them but the last Cambridge cable I bought (this year) stretched out so much the first time I wore it that it went back.

I love the RL or Lily Pullitzer ones since I much prefer cotton cables anyway.

Wool Pique Sultana Jacket in Navy: Original $198 -> $79.99
Vintage cord co-ed mini (Buff sand & Soft ochre): $29.99
Wool herringbone bucket hat (all colors): just $9.99
    Stretch bootcut cord: $59.99
    Mohair retro-stripe cardi: $49.99
Sherpa puffer vest in brown: $69.99
    Solid knee-highs: $6.99
    Pointelle trouser socks: $4.99
    Some socks were $2.99

  62. dinagideon: I just tried on the cotton tissue Victoria cami today and loved it! It looks much better on than it does on the hanger. The way the ruffles fall is perfect. My B&M had it in white, light gray, bright pink, light pink, spicy olive, dark gray, lavender and navy.

trestippy: Have you washed yours yet? I'm wondering how the ruffles will do. I hope it's not like with other ruffle tees, the ones where you have to iron every single ruffle back into place!!!

  63. Since when has Ann Taylor LOFT been making 100% cashmere sweaters? I just noticed those online the other day...not bad price points, and really pretty colors! Can anyone comment on the quality?

  64. AppGal,
There have been numerous posting on the ATLoft cashmere sweaters on this blog. Everyone has said they quality is excellent.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I know that Ann Taylor has been making cashmere for a while and that it is good quality, but I didn't know LOFT made it too. Good to know it's also good quality, Summer! Thanks :)

  66. Will drop by J.Crew store tmrw for some returns... guess I'll check out the ombre scarfs! Hopefully there's still some left...

Did go to Ann Taylor stores today... the sale items are additional 25% off and you can use the friends & family coupon on top of that! The F&F promo lasts till tomorrow only. That's a great deal! I have grabbed lots of good stuff @ incredible prices!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks to everyone who told me more about the tissue victorias!

I went to the Pentagon City store today (made some returns--I actually walked out with more than I spent--woowoo)!

I did succumb to three items, which oddly enough looked really cute together. I bought the navy victoria in a size small for 39.50 (minus educator discount), a cinnamon v-neck cable sweater in small for 74.00 (minus educator--currently on special for 59.50 on-line--irritated but not too badly), and the black resin wash ankle toothpicks in size 31 (I had to size up...what about you all--I hope they don't stretch out too much) for 49.99 (minus educator discount--so nice and unexpected). The 49.99 price is WAY under what it is on-line. Still full-price on-line. I could have been more irritated by the cambridge being full price but since I bought the jeans for way less, I wasn't going to quibble!

I tried on the Annalise cami, and while I love it and discovered the 6 is a nice, flowy fit on me, I just don't think I will bite at full price...definitely going to wait for a sale or clearance on that one.

  69. Hey twelve.dollar.soup --

I really wanted the vintage slim, but didn't want to pay full price. I tried on the "destructed boyfriend jeans" at the Gap and got 'em with a coupon. Then, I tried them on side-by-side with the vintage slim. The Gap ones are softer and hang better. They run giant, too. I'm a 26 in J. Crew and got a pair of the Gaps that are labeled both 24/0 and 25/0. There is a 00 still left online here.

    http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=25781&pid=655446&scid=655446002&vid=-1

Anyhow, I'm not usually a Gap fan, but on these, they did very well.

  70. Mommydearest,

It was the disco metallic skinny belt. It wasn't the full-on glitter. On promo for $14.99. Sorry for the delay, I just checked this thread for the first time since Friday.

ITA about J. Crew needing prep to be J. Crew. Trendiness is cute, but prepster is forever.

  71. Happy Sunday everybody. I'm hoping one of you can help me out. Does anyone have the item number of the Jaspe cardigan on hand? The cardigan that is on sale for $19.99. I can't find it on the website anymore...TIA

    ReplyDelete
  72. Michelle - I'm pretty sure the "Jaspe cardigan" is in-store only, which is why it's not showing up online. The item number is 19534.

FYI, they do have item 20569 online (the "Perfect-fit cardigan"). I have both items and from what I can tell they're identical but the online version isn't on sale (of course) and isn't available in the same light gray color. Hth!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks for the info Julize. It showed up "baby rib stripe cardi" on my receipt so I just wanted to make sure.

  76. I visited the J crew outlet this weekend. The outlets I went to are the Premiere Outlets, a chain all over the country. They are nicer, have better selection, and look like an actual J crew store but they are usually not very discounted (about 20%), except for a few times a year. Now is one of those times. All coats and jackets were 50% off the outlet price...I got the Felicia coat for $99.99. Sweaters were 40% off the outlet price and so were t-shirts. They had the Jackie cardi in an array of colors, as well as cashmere cardis. They seemed to have a lot of sizes of everything. I saw bootcut cords, lots of colors, cute skirts and pants...everything is marked down. No shoes or handbags and no holiday dresses, but last year I went in December and they had Holiday dresses out, so maybe they're just not out yet. They had tons of jewelry, and most of it is very similar, if not the same, as a lot of the stuff being sold now. Lots of hair accessories, lots of PJs and loungewear. The Favorite Tanks were $5. The service was great AND they honored the student/educator discount, so an extra 15% off was great....I guess it only doesn't work with clearance items.

Everytime I visit the J crew outlet I say "I'm never paying full price for J crew again". Of course, I always do, but it's great to get some Christmas shopping done and see stuff that you loved from recent past seasons.

  77. Susan, thanks for clarifying. I want a glittery belt, but I think I might go with the $5 ones at F2 :) I'm sure no matter where I buy them, the glitter is going to shed....

ITA-I couldn't have said it better.
