J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I picked up the Scalloped Grommet Dress in navy on a pop back in my size. I'm 4'10" and generally wear a 4-6P. A 6P fit perfectly with some extra hip room, the weight of the grommets at the hem help keep the dress hanging straight although they do feel a little weird against my legs. I actually thought they were fabric grommets and not metal ones when I bought it but they make the dress more interesting. It comes right above my knee and is machine washable which is great, it washed and wore well. The fabric is substantial but not too heavy for warm days. I think it will hold up wrinkle wise after wearing it all day for work.

  2. Does anyone have any IRL pics of the short-sleeve cargo dress (e8931)? It has great reviews online and is sold out in almost all colors. My size popped back yesterday so I gave it a try, just curious to see it on someone. Thanks!

Not much to review lately...most of what I've purchased have been pop-backs and subsequent returns. A few items of note that were wins are the summerweight sweater in neon peach - great summer sweater, I took the smaller of my two sizes and it's still slouchy but not messy. The peach is a nice bright peach without being obnoxious. It's a cotton/poly mix (mostly cotton) and I plan on pairing it with my navy dot midi and peep toe ankle booties soon!

Also, I am loving the tortoise link necklace. I haven't bought much Crew jewelry lately but this one is a winner and I will be wearing it all summer - I already paired it last week with the green boucle Factory dress/white blazer and leopard pumps (you can see a photo on my Instagram here)and over the weekend with white jeans and a chambray button down and stripe excursion vest. It's moderately heavy, not flimsy but I do wish it were a tad longer so I added an extender to get another inch of length out of it.

    1. Anne - love the way you styled the necklace. I've always loved tortoise with jade green. I bought the bracelet (f3153) and have already worn it so much this spring.

  3. I bought the pointe pants in gray and LOVE THEM! I didn't size down. The fabric is a nice weight and I love the high rise on these pants. I hope they might make them in some more colors, a warm camel color would be nice.

    1. I agree. I have the navy and love them. I almost bought the Rayner chinos but then though I should wait and hope that they make the wide -leg ponte pant in a camel or kaki color.

  4. I received an email that Thursday night (5-8 pm) stores are giving a free beach tote with a $100 purchase. Does anyone know which tote this is? Thx!

    1. jan - I have no idea waht tote it is. The first one that came to mind was the surfside tote, but it's $59.50. I'm thinking it could be similar to the X-Pierre Le-Tan. Perhaps they're bringing back the eco-friendly shopping totes.

    2. Hi Gigi, I was thinking of the surfside too since it's their only real beach tote but I agree I think it's too expensive to be a free gift. I would love if it was though lol. The other one you linked to looks more likely.

    3. Wish my local store didn't close! I leave for Vegas this weekend and actually could use a new tote for the pool. I'm really curious what kind of beach tote the free gift will be. :)

    4. @shopalot, have a great trip! I could use a new beach tote for vacation too so Im hoping it will be a nice one if I can visit a store.

  5. Went to make some returns yesterday. For those following along I returned all three sizes of the PointSur jeans in Orran wash. My regular size fit nicely but fit neither like a slim boyfriend or skinny jean. I really need the legs a bit slimmer/tapered at the ankle. I was going for more or a slim boyfriend and the size up was ok, but I can tell since they're all cotton they'd stretch out and be too loose. (I have a few other point sur and notice this happens.) I also tried a lone pair of the slim boyfriend jean (or whatever it's called) in store and they really did nothing for me,

I was interested in the v-neck band sleeve shell. I have a similar top minus the v neck and love that sleeve detail, but with the v it seemed too busy for me,

Otherwise the sale section of my store didn't have much to offer.

    1. @milljcrew, thank you for posting! Is the flamingo skirt a mini - I love flamingoes for some reason but won't do minis anymore.

  7. Hi Crew ladies! Was wondering if anyone was lucky enough to buy the sailor pant in stripe? Just asking out of curiosity, if anyone could report how they liked them and fit?

  8. A few reviews:
[] beach cover-up e8114/black - TTS,substantial, nice details - This is something that will look good over a white linen wide-leg pants/ casual poolside lunch. This is an item that color plays a major role ( white was a fail)
    [] romper v-neck c5146 / black - TTS, nice beach cover-up
[]short sleeve crewneck sweater in stripe -navy/white e9508 - runs one size too big. On the short side, not overly boxy.W/discount comes at 41.99 (not worth full price and even w/discount I'm still thinking about keeping it or not)
[]Convertible zip anorak jacket e7245 /red- Runs big, nice details but overpriced. Even w/add discount it is too much (comes at $91).Maybe if price drops deeper..
[]A-line skirt w/pockets / navy e7882- runs smal, nice skirt on a thick material - trick on this one is getting the sizing right . At least one reviewer said it fits tts but all others mentioned that it runs small. It does, really small . I bought two sizes larger bc that was what was available and voila, it is perfect.
[] linen popovers/short sleeve - this runs super big. I sized up based on one review and had to return both (light blue and white). Didn't want to re-order.
    Hope this helps!

  9. Went to the store to return.
I tried the Gazebo pants in P2. Surprise love! I thought the fit would be like my wool patio in P4, but it wasn't the case--it's not high waisted. The length falls a little above my ankles and it looks like culottes, or a midi skirt on me.

Also tried that silk collection Off-the-shoulder top and did not like it at all. I couldn't move my arms knowing the elastic shoulders would ride up, which it did. Not a good look on me.

    1. I agree. There was no way to actually move in this top without it riding up. It was cute in a mirror, standing completely still, or a photograph, but not a style to actually live life in!

  10. Hi JCA'S,

Does anyone have a review on the collection stripe dress, item F1530. It's red with black and white stripes. Super cute on the model and sold out for a month or so.
    Thanks!
