Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. Slightly OT, has anyone tried the Madewell Ollie pants? They are exactly what I've been looking for and $19.99 but final sale. I'm usually a 25 in JCREW jeans (including high waisted ones). ALSO, does Madewell usually offer additional percentage off sale items? I really like the bell shift tank in black and in the gingham but they're final sale (and still $50 plus each). Not sure if I should wait.

    1. Hi Suz - I recently ordered the Ollie pants, but haven't received them yet. However, I do find Madewell to run fairly similar in sizing to J.Crew, and that is always the size I order at Madewell. I wear a 26 at both stores, so you will more than likely be ok with your normal size 25. I did read in the reviews that the pants stretch a bit since they're 100% cotton, but I went with my normal size anyways.

Madewell does run extra % off promos, and haven't had one in awhile, so they are due for one sometime in the near future. Also, if you call or chat to a CS, they will give you specific item measurements. HTH! :)

    2. I tried them on today. I'm usually a size 4 in j crew pants. I tried on a pair of 27s and they were pretty big. The waist was fairly lose on me and below the belly button. If they're supposed to be high waisted like the reviewers say, then I'd say they run big. I didn't try on a smaller size because the hips and thighs were way too baggy and looked ridiculous. For reference I'm 5'5", 120-125 lbs and very narrow in the hips with pretty slim legs. Hth!

    4. Suz Has, Madewell had an extra 30% off sale in mid-April and at the end of April (I know because I ordered something both times ;) I am hoping for another promo soon. They often have a percentage off sale in-store but not online so you may want to check that...

  3. Land's End - Chambray & gingham in this post. I preferred the fit of LE's gingham pants over J. Crew's Martie.

  6. 40% off your order right now online at Banana Republic (exclusions apply). I just ordered two tanks I tried in store this week. Hard to beat 40% off sale prices + free shipping because the pre-promo total was over $50.
