Side Note: Apologies for not keeping up with the blog. My laptop isn't working and had to be repaired. Still don't have it. Blah. :/
A few items caught my eye.
ReplyDelete-Collection stripe wide-leg jumpsuit. (Sold out in my size 0/2...sigh)
-Collection stripe top
-Jacquard mini skirt - so pretty like a Van Gogh painting. And I miss J.Crew using jacquard prints.
-Linen short in that rust color
-Eyelet tier dress in black
I am, for the most part, quite underwhelmed. I like the Tiered Eyelet Midi dress in white and in black, but not sure if I like it enough to even order it to try on. Ho hum.
ReplyDeleteAlready sick of looking at the 12,000 iterations of the off the shoulder top / dress.
So glad I'm not the only one who's lost interest in the OTS dress!
DeleteI am just not feeling the silhouettes this go-around (cropped wide-legs, OTS, flutter sleeves, pleated bottoms). That's okay, I've got tons of OSC (old school 'Crew) to work with.
DeleteI'm not either, silver_lining. It's clothing that requires me to think too much :) What bra would I wear with that, or what looks right with wide leg pants, and do flutter sleeves make me look like I'm wearing an angel costume? etc.
DeleteDitto here. OTS and rompers both fall into the category of too much work...
DeleteAudreyS, rompers are tempting because you don't have to match a top with a bottom and that's easy, but … I don't want to take my top off to use the bathroom, that's too much work! :)
DeleteYep. As a teenager, someone walked in on my bathroom stall (one-piece, of course) when I was, uh, seated. So mortifying, and paranoid for life...
DeleteJCrew likes : Ratti Cat print tulip skirt, Striped Popover Sweater, Tiered Eyelet Midi dress, Striped Culotte Pant(wish it came in petite),Long Oval Link Necklace.
ReplyDeleteMadewell likes: Forward-Seam Slub tank, Sheerweave Scarf, Bridget Lace-up Sandal
@maryeb i loved the forward seam tank from madewell.
DeleteI bought it and will review tomorrow.
Saw your review @ina. Thanks! The Eyelet Moontide and Embroidered Suncoast dresses as both so cute on you. These are both 'must try' items now. I'm thinking of ordering the Rhythm Swing and Denim popover tops to try, too.
DeleteReview of:

Thanks for the reviews, Ina!
DeleteI like the cat print - especially on the sundress. Not much else is calling my name.
ReplyDeleteThe gingham thing has gone a little too far with the multicolor heels. I like shoes with strong color (I'm wearing the orchid Dulci's today) but those heels are way too zany for me.
And the Dr. Scholls...not sure what to say about those. Sometimes the past is just the past, and it ain't worth $108.
Laughing about the Dr. Scholl's -- the hologram glitter $108 version was the only one I really wanted! (Ever since my daughter turned 2, 8 years ago, we have both been all about sparkle!) Have never tried them back when, so they are new to me. Will see if they are comfortable -- reviews on other websites about this style Dr. Scholl's are very mixed...
DeleteThe Dr. Scholls are very cute, but back in the day mine were painful. That style of shoe, even when it isn't wood, flips off my feet too easily.

DeleteJust got them today (fast!), and oh they are adorable. As in, almost cuter than my cutest cat (and I have five). Not at all comfy on first try, and I am not one to bother with breaking in shoes, but I have to give this one a shot...
DeleteThey are SO adorable, Audrey! I hope they work out for you! :)
DeleteThe new arrivals are somewhat of a non-event for me; possibly due to too much recent shopping or maybe they are just okay.
ReplyDeleteHowever, love the 50% off some sale items and free shipping. Scored a pair of wool slim Ludlow suit pants in Glen plaid in a grey black colour and a cashmere scarf in heather light carbon (otherwise known as light banker's grey).
Nothing like some more grey clothing, definitely my go to colour. But the news here is for half the regular price of the pants I got the cashmere scarf and the pants. Ludlow slims are the best and my favourite and who doesn't love some cashmere?
Awesome! I like how you find the deals and for classic things that will last awhile.
DeleteThanks Vava. A good friend gave me Game of Thrones comment; winter is coming. Guess I'm ready early.
DeleteI thought the off the shoulder tops were cute - until JC did so many! they also wore out my love for gingham when they did it in 500 options. Same with all the prints - when a print is special, offer it one piece - not ALL the pieces!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the off the shoulder tops and gingham, and I really love gingham, but aren't we in limbo until September? that's what I like to think. As for the prints, they seem hit or miss but I like when I see it on a skirt, top and pants. Isn't that a J Crew tradition?
DeleteI agree. I'm a suit person (for events) and love matchy matchy to a certain extent. The ratti print is not for me, most of them aren't, but that off the shoulder top and skirt together look fab, as does the bow shirt and those striped culottes. If I had a place to wear either I'd totally consider both ensembles (but more in solid black).
DeleteOverall, I think it's a decent rollout. I was hoping for more dresses but I'm glad to see some longer skirt and dress lengths. I'm def going to try the pintucked midi in morning floral.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I got my rewards card yesterday and was looking and looking and looking for something from the new arrivals to buy, but literally could not find one thing. I ended up using it towards one of the Brvtvs rings, at 30% off.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, I do think it's really nice that JC sometimes applies the global discount to the fine jewelry, as gold -- especially from the third parties -- rarely goes on sale. My original wedding band is channel set and shortly after I started wearing it, I started getting a rash all over that finger. Our jeweler said it's because things get caught in channel settings and the only way for me to avoid (I have very rash-prone skin) is to take off the ring every time my hands get wet. Clearly that was not happening, so I went ringless for over 10 years. Finally, last year I decided to buy myself a cheap little plain white gold band, and it worked like a charm -- no rashes, no need to remove. Since these are non-sentimental and self purchased, and I love wearing a ring again, I decided to also get myself a James Colarusso rose gold band (totally love it), and I just today got a yellow gold Brvtvs band...
There are lots of things I like (that striped jumpsuit!) but not too much I can see buying right now. I love the striped bow shoulder top and culottes too, many of the shoes, but most of this stuff is just not practical for my boring lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the off the shoulder tops on others but it just seems too fancy for me and concerned it would make me look like a pin head.
Love the stripe jumpsuit, too. But nowhere to wear it to with my lifestyle.
DeleteFor those of you who regret missing the Thomas Mason Gingham Wrap Dress, its for sale at Net a Porter today.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the eyelet leather lace up flats on my first glance. They are in my cart now but the promo doesn't apply. They are just too cute though and my current hot pink flats punch my toes so badly that I never wear them.
ReplyDeleteWell I am definitely loving more from the new arrivals at Madewell than I am at J.Crew, but I do like a few of the new pieces:
ReplyDelete*Collection embroidered summer top
*Classic short-sleeve shirtdress in gingham
*Dr. Scholl's® for J.Crew sandals in hologram glitter - I know many are not a fan, but wow are these cute! I never did own a pair back in the day, but always wanted to, so these sparkly ones are very tempting.
I've shared my personal picks from the new arrivals at Madewell on my blog today for those interested. You can see that post here.
DeleteHi Alexis -- I greatly appreciate that you still run your blog here! I hope you get your laptop back soon. That's like not having a thumb.

DeleteWell said, Gigi. Thanks, Alexis, for keeping us up to date and on track.
DeleteOh no! Thanks for pointing that out, Gigi -- I'm sorry I hadn't noticed that bit of info in the original post, Alexis. :-( I hope you get your trusty laptop back soon & I second the TYs as well!!
DeleteWent in to J.Crew today and tried on a few:
ReplyDelete1. TULIP SKIRT IN RATTI® HAPPY CAT PRINT (item f2182) - I tried on the size 2 and 4 and they were both really snug. I probably would have had to size up to a 6 for it to be comfortable. It's cotton with lining and the fabric is really soft but the colour is dull IRL compared to online. Maybe if the fabric had a slight sheen it would stand out more.
2. OFF-THE-SHOULDER DRESS IN CHAMBRAY (item f3133) - This seems to be popular as it is sold out online but when I tried it on the sleeves were sticking out. Also, once I carry my baby the shoulders would come up.
I did leave the store with the CAMPBELL BLAZER IN GINGHAM (item e9060) in Ivory Pink. It was $194.99 CDN minus 50% off. Definitely scored that one!!!
@j.elle, I had a similar fit issue with the Pintucked Midi in Morning Floral (F2864)-- I found the waist in my usual Petite pencil size to be really small, yet the hips fit nicely -- would have to go up 1-2 sizes. (It seems pretty high-waisted). I think this was the print i liked best from this rollout.
DeleteCongrats on your blazer! Love finds like that, woot woot!
(Two more mini-reviews for anyone who's interested --the MINI SKIRT IN NAUTICAL STRIPE (F2863) This one seemed like an easy summer item and the fabric/weight is light and airy. Love that is has pockets, but I knew this full style wouldn't work on my figure. The smaller of my 2 sizes fit me better because of the elastic waist.
Lastly, the EYELET FLORAL MINI SKIRT (F2318) looked dreadful on me, but this style usually does due to a short waist. The white is very pretty, not sheer. I also tried this in the smaller of my two sizes.
