This is another good offer from J.Crew. Great for those of you who wanted to acquire a new Winter coat. There is plenty of stock available. Although there are some pieces in certain colors already sold out and/ or on back order!

What are your thoughts on this latest promotion? Are there are pieces you are interested in getting?

  1. Several of the coats I am interested in are "sold out" of the colors I would choose. Do you think they are really sold out? How have these coats been stocked online in the past?

  2. Pathos: I find that most of the time J.Crew usually restocks those sold out coats (either because customers return those colors and/ or because they order more through their manufacturer). :)

  3. I think I'm going insane - who can handle this many promos? Couldn't resist snagging stadium cloth boulevard trench in saddle. We'll if I keep it. Review here

  4. The only coat I've been interested in this winter was the houndstooth toggle coat from a couple of months ago, but it never popped back after selling out on a pre-order. I've got plenty of past season coats to tide me over - but can't recommend the boulevard trench highly enough.

  5. OperaRach: I bought the stadium cloth oulevard trench this past weekend in the heather charcoal. I'm a regular size 2 (4 in petites), but the SA gave me a regular 4 which fit quite nicely with enough room for a sweater or two. I'd say it runs small, so you definitely need to go up one or two sizes.

    At the B&M price (with add'l 30% off @ 160.99), I'd say it's worth keeping! :D

  6. I'm not so sure about this promo. I was about to order a replacement coat for one I am returning, but I smelled a rat. The prices are as marked, and they are 30% their *original* price.
Some of these coats were marked down already throughout the week, and would have qualified for the other 25 or 30% off deals, making them much cheaper!

Take the Perennial coat, which I got, and am returning (hate the sandal color in real life). It was 245 full price, and marked down to 183/184 the other day. I got an additional 30% off, and got it for about 150. Now it's marked at 171.

    Whatever, J crew...

  7. I'm glad I ordered the Buffalo Plaid car-coat with last week's 30% off promo since my size is already sold out, and what's left looks to be back-ordered till January. Hopefully some JCAs will score what's on their wishlists!

  8. I suppose there are J Crew shoppers out there who don't check the website every morning noon and night like we do! lol So I figure this promo is for 'them." I bought two coats already - Plaza and Chesapeake, as Samo said above, which were marked down and had additional 30% off. Glad I did b/c the coral color is now gone in my size (Chesapeake). I've been converting my closet to full winter, packing up cottons and linens and lightweight merinos, and taking out sweaters from last fall/winter that I still love. Really don't need anything else, until maybe winter's end sales where I'll pick up a few things for next year!

  9. For anyone disappointed with the Wintress puffer (I read a few comments to that effect elsewhere on this blog) try the Factory long puffer. It is a dead ringer for the 2009 regular version and it is really high quality, thick (not flimsy at all) and smooshy. It also has the knit cuffs which I love, and just all around cuter detailing.

  10. OperaRach, love that trench on you. How tall are you? I shy away from long coats because I'm petite (5'3), but that trench is so lovely on you that I want it now.

Think I'll pass on the promo now since everything I really wanted is now sold out. I wish the Perennial peacoat came in different colors like charcoal or black.

  11. I have reviews for the Double-Cloth Envelope coat here, of the Double-Cloth Townhouse Trench here and of the Flared Perfect Coat here.

Also of the Excursion Jacket & Vest. HTH

  12. I was up when the new promo kicked in and the Holiday code was still working well past midnight but the Wintress puffer wasn't marked down yet, otherwise I would have ordered it. I tried it yesterday in store but will only buy it for around $150 max. I lost my long puffer last year and I liked it, it seems very plush and cozy (85% down filling). Not sure what the criticism is about (it has the knit sleeves as well)? If it's an indication I am extremely pleased with my clouds puffer from two years ago, it hold up really well.

  13. Nothing for me, happily I don't need any outerwear. And it's still hovering around 70 here. Come on man, it's December! I wore spring clothes and sandals yesterday, lol.

  14. @Suzy, how does the Chesapeake fit? I was afraid the pockets at hip height would make me look hippy. Happy that someone got it in coral! I missed out. Such a happy color.

    thanks :)

  15. Does anyone have any experience with j.crew's store locator service? How successful is it usually? I ordered the perennial coat with thinsulate in black in size 2P and got it today, but it's too short for me and now I want regular 0 with thinsulate. But they are sold out! :( I called them today to try the store locator service, but I just don't know if i should have my hopes high or not.

  16. TXgirl14: hope you don't mind me butting in...I'm about 5'2", and I purchased the stadium cloth boulevard trench in a regular size even though I normally wear petite.

The sleeves are a little long; they hit my knuckles, but my hands are always cold, so I don't mind. The length of the coat reaches just at the knees. The waist-tie/sash actually hits my natural waist and the side pockets are just a little below, perfect placement. HTH!

  17. @ Suebee - Thanks for the info! I did order a size up but did not get that awesome in store price. I wonder if they would adjust the price (ha ha ha fat chance I know)

TXgirl14 - Thank you! I am 5'4'' and found that the trench is the PERFECT length!

  18. Ok, but so many promotions are kind of making me curious... are the clothes JUST NOT selling?

Should they have come in at a lower price point in the first place? What is the deal...

This is crazy, so many back-to-back promos..

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Arielle and Scout: I don't notice anything about the pockets sticking out at all. This coat def. has a longer and leaner look to it. I ordered up one size, so I could layer underneath, and it fits beautifully across the shoulders, I was very pleased. In general with all J Crew coats - I wish it was a nicer (i.e. softer) fabric - but the fit and the way it hangs is lovely.

As for the number of promotions topic - this happens every year. Who knows - moving inventory, year end sale totals, EVERYONE has lots of sales now. Geez, in Macy's, between coupons and using your card and sales and clearance and 3 hour deals...every day there's more and more. I've had this discussion with my SA's here every year. You begin to say.. "Well, I certainly have enough clothes, so let's see how many times this will get reduced." LOL Add in the quality issue (which also gets discussed year after year, and it's not just J Crew, and it is not just clothing) which this year is truly pitiful, and maybe JC should just donate those horrible sweaters and write them off this year.

  20. I got my Wintress Puffer the other day in the mail, and my first impression was- meh. It doesn't seem as puffy as my Mirabel from last year (which rocks.) I'll throw it into the dryer however with some tennis balls tomorrow and see if anything changes. The sleeves were a tad short on me (XS and I"m 5'5") so I can't wear the knit cuffs in my thumb as designed. so that blows too. And my biggest fear is the snaps ripping off of the fabric. I pulled them apart really hard and it felt like I could rip the whole jacket.

So I"m up for positive reviews of the Wintress as I was hoping to add this to my closet this year.

  21. Torn between the vibrant flame lady day coat and the majesty peacoat in fiesta/purple. Advice? Or keep both? :) Need some colour to brighten up midwest winters!

  22. My shipment of the Stadium-cloth car coat in buffalo plaid came in and wow is it bright! It's a warm and well made coat but I'm not sure how to tone it down. It wasn't as vivid on my screen. I would love to hear from others who have it. Thanks

  23. @mini -- how are you finding the fit of the Buffalo Plaid coat? TTS? I'm expecting mine by the end of the week...somewhat concerned about the colour now that you've mentioned it!

I ordered my normal size 0. I wear a xs in tops always but have a 2 in wool trench. I would say it runs true to size but isnt as fitted in the bust as it looks on line. Kinda bulky there but I'm not so that could be why. It is lovely but I'm not sure if I will wear it often due to color so I may return it.

  25. Not that it is in the promo, but I caught a pop back of the Encore trench in 12! Now I hope it fits! Never seen or tried it on but was in love with it. Hope the arms are generous... not final sale so .... I seem to have a thing for skirted coats so hope this is a happy addition to the closet!

  26. Clicquot

Post what you think of coat when it comes in. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thanks, @mini -- I'm glad to know it isn't running small. I'm a small in most t-shirts and sweaters, but I can get away with a sz 2 in JC peacoats due to my small bustline, so I think I'll be fine with the car coat in my usual size if you say it's not too fitted. I'll be sure to review it here when I get it.

  28. Dissertante: I saw someone wearing the fiesta purple peacoat yesterday and now I want it! It is absolutely gorgeous in person and purple is my favorite color.

  29. Thanks sue.bee! I don't mind it the sleeves are too long either...my hands are always cold too. Thanks OperaRach too! Looks to be the perfect length for dresses and skirts.

The ship date is now at the end of January...way after I need it. boo.

  30. TXGirl14 - end of January! That stinks. I ordered mine yesterday and apparently I am getting it today. Although that may have something to do with my absolutely amazing PS
