A big "thanks!" to many of you, including Heidi (in this post), GigiOfCa (in this post), & Rebecca (in this post), as well as Irina, Desert Flower, & Marietta, who let us know about another offer from J.Crew.
J.Crew is offering customers 30% off any purchase from their Final Sale {no minimum} and free shipping (over $150 *after* discounts applied) with promo code MUSTHAVE. This offer expires Thursday, 9/9/10.
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?
Does anyone know what time the J.Crew site sale section gets updated everyday? I want to take advantage of the promo but all the things I want to buy are not on the site :(
ReplyDeleteI still have the "be right back" screen on my checkout screen. Am I really the only one who has this? So weird. I restarted my browser after clearing my cache and that worked once, but now that's not even working... weird.
ReplyDeletejcrew_fan: I find that it's not always the same, but it's most often done between 5:30-6 am EST. The sale section has not been updated so far today. Sometimes they don't even update during these % off sales - and the big push comes the day after the sale's over.
ReplyDeleteHave fun if you decide to partake, but remember... friends don't let friends buy popbacks! ;)
sub
ReplyDeleteNo update to the sale section, so no until that happens.
ReplyDeletesilver_lining: thank you so much for the valuable information :) Hope they have an update today!
ReplyDeletei had a cart full of stuff at midnight but was not getting free shipping even with well over $150 in there, so I dumped it all out. And as Wendy said, there was no update last night.
ReplyDeleteI was mad about both things. Most of what I had in my cart was for my son and I really wanted it! Not sure why the free ship was not kicking in. :-/
Anyway, I have 2 orders from the LABORDAY promo that have not even left the warehouse yet, which is very odd considering I usually get my stuff in 2 days tops. So I figure anything I chose last night would be gone by the time it shipped anyway.
Ah well, goodbye summer!
Interesting how this promo comes the day AFTER Labor Day. Guess J.Crew really wants to go against the grain and be different than other retailers! No shopping for me...I am fully in fall mode now!
ReplyDeleteI ended up getting the Kerrington flats in flannel, the merino cielo cardi in sweet almond and a grosgrain gather top in dark plum and in aluminum. Saved a lot of $!
ReplyDeleteI did buy...but yesterday. And knowing that JCrew doesn't like to do price-adjustments I am a little annoyed.
ReplyDeleteThought they might do another %off after the long weekend so I held off. Now the Olivia Shift dress which was $24.99 this weekend is marked at $39.99. :(
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if this promo is going on in the stores too?
ReplyDeleteElaine- My Labor Day orders haven't been sent out yet either... I wonder what the hold up is?
ReplyDeleteDevon, my guess is that they're just backlogged ...? Maybe they shut the whole operation down over the weekend to give peeps some time off? I dunno. Nothing they do makes sense to me anymore. Most places would happily adjust the prices if your stuff hadn't gone out by the time the new promo went into effect. The sale prices are ALL over the map, bouncing up and down and all around, which is INSANE, not to mention the sketchy inventory that changes soooo much day to day. It just makes no sense at all. Why can't I go back to being a BR ho? At least they treat me well! J Crew is like a pimp. It abuses me and confuses me. I think it loves me when it offers me promos and ships quickly to my home, but it hurts me with inconsistent pricing and a refusal to adjust sale prices. I need counseling, or something ...!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Elaine! Sad but true...
ReplyDeleteJC plays dirty tricks by jacking up the prices on some items during these promos.
I will place an order if the sale section is updated. Other than that nothing much left in my size.
sub
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Elaine and jcmama. I really hate J.Crew for doing this. I notice that too!!! Some of the items that were on sale before this extra30% now they back to full price :(
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the lace panel camisole? there do seem to be a lot in stock...
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me if the Merino cielo ruffle cardigan and the Gusto cami run small, TTS or big? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOT but there is a size 8 brown velvet Bella on ebay, buy it now for $99.95 or best offer plus $8.95 to ship. Not my auction nor that of anyone I know. Item, #150490462563. Seller has 100% positive feedback.
ReplyDeleteJruby18- the merino cielo cardi runs TTS. I usually wear a S in JC cardis and the size S fit me perfectly. HTH!
ReplyDeleteno 30% off sale promo in store =(
ReplyDeleteJruby, I believe GigiofCA reviewed the Cielo cardi on her blog.
ReplyDeleteNo Final Sale for me. There is nothing worth the risk and I hate playing the pricing game.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura - the lace panel camisole has a boxy fit, coupled with the dreaded side zip and spaghetti straps it wasn't a very flattering fit for me.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Jericho Hobo in the deep atlantic color? The color looks pretty online, but it's hard to tell how it would look IRL.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I am interested is the long -sleeve stretched perfect shirt in peri ($49.99). But since the 30% off will be eaten up by shipping cost, I would rather wait for Banana Republic's non-ironed fitted shirt ($59.99) to go on sale. At least I can return it!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the Katzy cami? I love it in the warm taupe color, but I don't know how it fits.
ReplyDeleteHi Erica,
ReplyDeleteI haven't see the Jerico hobo IRL in the Atlantic Blue, but I did pull the trigger on it this morning. At $91.00 it seemed like a good deal for a JCrew bag. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the color is pretty IRL.
Laura, I wanted to love the lace panel cami but it was very boxy, ran huge in my sz0 and I don't think it would have been saved by even my fabulous tailor. Glad I got it when it was not final sale so I could return it!
ReplyDeleteI might go for the sparkle waves tee, which I liked in store. By the way, has anyone seen this in stores recently? I haven't been in a few weeks and the last time I checked, the tee was FP (but on sale online).
ReplyDeleteAlso laughed when I saw the bow monde dress in the sale section. Just watched Project Runway on my DVR and cracked up when the bridesmaid made fun of it.
Lauren PhD: I just saw a bunch of the Sparkle Waves tees in the sale section at the Orlando store on Saturday. I don't know the price, but I do know they weren't final sale.
ReplyDeleteThanks FFM! I called my local store and they have them for $14.99. No 30% off, but the shipping more than cancelled that out anyway. And no final sale!
ReplyDelete@Erica, I bought the Jericho hobo in Atlantic blue the last 30% sale and the color is really pretty. The leather feels pretty supple, but it is bigger than I thought which is fine for me b/c I love huge bags. I haven't started using it yet, but will switch over to it soon.
ReplyDeletethanks to those who commented on the cielo cardigan. I'm debating it, but am worried the sleeves will be tight like so many of their sweaters lately.
Oh, and the sparkle waves henleys are $14.99 in store (at least at my store). Not final sale. I bought the bronze color which I really like. For that price, I thought it was a good deal.
I caved (had a gift card, in my defense!) and snagged the stretch double serge pencil skirt and the chili pepper tee, thought the two would look cute together :)
ReplyDeleteThe katelyn ruffle cardi I bought 2 weeks ago at 49.99-20% is now 39.99-30%; bummer. Lesson for me is wait for at least 2nd markdown and wait for 30% rather than 20%. In any event I am DONE with final sale--not buying any .99 items until it switches back over to fall sale.
ReplyDeleteI vowed to not buy any FS items but I couldn't resist. But I had a reward card that's about to expire on the 15th so I figured I might as well take advantage of the 30%. Glad I waited until after their "labor day" sale. I suspected that there might be an additional % off afterwards.
ReplyDeleteI took a chance on the Kerrington ballet flats. Couldn't resist with the additional % off. Hope they work out. Got the Maybelle linen jacket (only $35!), Katelyn and the Infinity cardigan. Also got a pair of black minnie pants (not marked as FS) and a pair of skimmer pants (for $14!)
I guess the biggest risk was the Kerrington flats but I really like the color and they look pretty comfortable and versatile so hopefully, they'll be good. Not really sure about the Maybelle jacket but GigiofCA really sold me on that one. She should really get a commission! :)
Sadly, I am rarely ever able to take advantage of these promos. I find that J. Crew loves to play games and only does a limited restock of sale items during such promos and very few of them are in the colors and sizes that I want. Of course after the promo expires, all the items I want magically "pop back" in stock. Alas, such is my love/ hate relationship with the J. Crack.
ReplyDeleteI was able to order a few things early last Friday morning that I had wanted from the "we are going to force you to be stuck with these items even if they suck" final sale section that I noticed are now conveniently sold out so at least I have that going for me, although, my order status is still "open" {sigh}……
Well, things are moving, at least -- last week's orders have left the warehouse finally! Now let's see if anything isn't what it's supposed to be ...
ReplyDeleteThis store is the devil. I placed an order Sunday (which still hasn't shipped, crossing my fingers) but I think I saved the same $$ with the free shipping as I would have with 30% off. I'm placing a shopping embargo on myself until the temp drops below 70 here and I can justify a sweater or something, hopefully by then some of my favorites will be on sale. Has anyone experimented with getting men's sweaters instead of ladies? I'm stalking the guy's Lightweight Cashmere shawl-collar cardi, maybe the sleeves will be roomier....but its final sale and I have no idea how it would fit.
ReplyDeleteMy cart from yesterday got dumped overnight. Also some of the items I wanted are no longer available, like the chino short in navy. I feel like they took them out of circulation until this 30% deal is over, or I am just really paranoid now. Seriously, JCrew plays so many games!
ReplyDeleteon a positive note... email came today that my LABORDAY promo order had shipped and looking closer see it went SECOND DAY AIR!! I did not request it and they also didn't announce it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the two sale items I am interested in are still in my shopping bag and still the same price as they were before the MUSTHAVE promos. So, I'm one happy shopper today--as usual.
I placed an order last night after I saw the promo but I have not received a confirmation e-mail and my order history does not reflect it. Was I dreaming? Probably all for the best if it didn't go through and not planning on reordering.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bitten on the FS promo but the sweater and jewelry promo are still going on at my B&M so I got a couple more cashmere sweaters and two Jackies plus the Crystal Steps necklace. There's not much left I want/need in FS. If they mark down more tonight/tomorrow maybe, otherwise, no.
ReplyDeleteThose bright colors everyone raves about? I boxed up a bunch of those bright colors this weekend for storage. Beautiful sweaters in bright colors and cables, that I just don't "feel" lately, and the cables feel dated. I've stuck to the heather nickel, cobblestone, saddle and plum colors for fall with a bit of navy. I don't know if anyone else is liking more muted colors now but I sure am.
Has anyone tried tehe Tux henley? New with the last rollout and now on final sale. I'm wondering if it's TTS or runs big. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth--I've always been a subdued/neutral girl. Every so often (like now) the fashion cycle goes this direction. I've been a striped t-shirt hoarder for years and that came around this year too so it's been an expensive one!
ReplyDeleteBeware--once you go beige you'll never go back--just kidding...
gem twin that's what I'm afraid of! I remember how much I loved to wear Bright Papaya and thought the cables were so charming. Now, I am liking a heathered v-neck over a white tee and jeans and those beloved MacAlister boots outside of work. I've noticed lately though that my armoire looked like a kids birthday party had barfed all over it. I kept a few out but need a break, maybe I'll like them more later.
ReplyDeleteAre cedar blocks as effective as moth balls? We don't have too many moths in the west but I don't want to be the exception.
Claire, I have purchased the men's cotton/cashmere sweaters as I love the blend and also have bought a couple of men's cotton sweaters. I find them to fit a bit long, which is OK because I'm taller than average at 5'9" but they are also often wider in the shoulders, even sizing down. If you don't have narrow shoulders or don't mind a bit slouchier fit then it will likely be fine. The quality has always been good on the men's items I've purchased.
ReplyDeleteHTH
Elizabeth--to answer your question,
ReplyDeleteI look like death in neutrals and have never worn nor liked them unless they are on my legs:) hee hee
My mom and best friend can both wear beige/neutrals very well. Not for me. I don't let fashion dictate what colors I wear b/c I know what looks good on me!
xoxo,
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I go and borrow my hubby's JCrew sweaters all the time. I am 5'10 and he is 5'11 and I have broad shoulders from swimming:) I even wear some of his button down shirts. They fit me better and I like the colors better than the ladies palid/checked drab colors out now.
I was just in my B&M in Scottsdale and there is not an additional 30% off, however all sweaters were 20% off! I also noticed the Cord Atlee skirt was marked down in the store but not on-line. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteClaire, the men's sweaters may work for you but they've never worked for me, the shirts either. They are too long and go mid-thigh with no waist definition.
ReplyDeleteOT, just picked up Tim Gunn's new book dishing on Anna Wintour and the True Prep book. They came out today and both books were right in the Barnes&Noble next to J. Crew.
Genny absolutely, and I like bright colors on others. I think it's a mood thing for me. Also, as a pale blonde, the heather nickel, while it may be dull, is really flattering. The Matisse Blue is gorgeous on it's own but looks like it's wearing me on.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth and gem twin, you are fortunate to be getting your neutral fix. I look totally washed out without some cool tones near my face. I am one who loves color - and cables! I ordered the Dream shawl-collar cardigan in heather nordic blue and I can't wait for it to arrive. My PS said it is very fitted and the cables make it much more substantial than a plain knit, especially since it is 7-gauge. I know the dream yarn is prone to pilling but I'm fine with adding just this one to my wardrobe as I really love that blue color. My other dream sweater from a couple years ago has cables as well and it helps hide the pilling better than a smooth sweater. I would never buy dream yarn in a smooth sweater.
ReplyDeletedid anyone else get the "collection" catalog today? It's nicely done...
ReplyDeleteClaire--I LOVE the men's department. I am 5'-9", size small or 0-4 in womens, and the XS fits great. I love the sweatshirt I got there recently. It is narrower than the women's side zip amazingly enough. The shirts are roomier than the women's but not so girly which isn't my thing. I also wear the men's khakis in a small size when I want a "boyfriend" pant--the real deal IMO.
gem twin, was this the men's sweatshirt that you got and did you write a raving review on it? I bought this sweatshirt in the faded red based on someone's review here and I totally love it. It has a nice, narrow silhouette and it is so comfortable. If that was you who recommended it, thank you. One of my favorites of the summer. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo I'm sure I would see you in cables and think it's adorable. I sure have plenty of them and I can't part with them.
ReplyDeleteBecause I store and pull out items from these big plastic tubs, it feels like new clothes when I switch them out.
I found a bunch of cargos from three or four years ago that I probably bought end of season for like $20. and now they feel totally new - plus you really see the difference in the quality from four years ago. They used to put Liberty fabric type trim on the inside, with little tabs and pockets on the inside. No one sees it but you, but it's the details.
Thanks for the input about the men's stuff! I guess I have larger than average shoulders/arms from surfing, and I don't mind a slouchy "boyfriend" fitting sweater....but I'm not very tall so length might be a prob. I guess I will have to try a few on next time I'm in the B&M, and suffer whatever weird looks I might get shopping in the men's section :) Maybe fate will strike and I'll meet a hottie with good taste in clothes...as long as we don't wear the same size and have to fight over the last sweater. That would be weird...ok OT.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the neutrals, I find that beige/camel colors tend to wash me out unless I've been hitting the (tan) bottle, but neutrals in the gray family are a longtime favorite.
MDPA, I felt like the tissue tux henley was TTS. I have a larger chest (36C) and there was just a slight gaping, so I would wear it open with a tank. I would have bought it if the b&m's had the same colors as online.
ReplyDeletegem twin, I received the collection "newspaper" today and was impressed, except for the topless woman towards the end. :)
I played chicken with the eyelet bow blouse knowing there would be more markdowns, and scored it for $28 (that's with shipping to Canada and taxes). Win!
ReplyDeletexoxo--yes--same sweatshirt, same color--isn't it great?! I keep hoping it will go on sale in the heather dusk or indigo but it seems to be a hit and holding its price.
ReplyDeleteClaire--I live in San Francisco so our dressing rooms are pretty coed ;-)
MDPA, I just read the other post. Hope you like the henley! :)
ReplyDeletegem twin, yes the sweatshirt is awesome! I will be wearing it well into fall and I'll also be watching for any other colors to go on sale.
ReplyDeleteAlexis, I really appreciate the reviews and helpful comments from JCAs on this site. I can't shop J.Crew without checking here first.
babymamma...I had the same issue last Sunday when they were offering 20% off. There were several items in my cart, I checked out and then no order confirmation. I looked on my order history and there was no order. One of the important items had since sold out, so I did not reorder.
ReplyDeleteI too thought I was dreaming but perhaps they are having issues with their site.
Hi Tracy! Did you notice how much the Cord Atlee skirt was on sale for in your store? I think that one is really cute!
ReplyDeletePut up a review of the dot chiffon betsy wrap cami. Link to Slastena's irl pic is within the post.
ReplyDeleteJruby18 - Review of merino cielo in this post. The cielo measures 33" in S and 35" for M in the chest. I most often wear S in J Crew cardigans, but because I don't like things tight, I chose M based on the fit. I'm 34C.
peches0105 - I haven't seen irl pics of the katzy, but that's probably because it came out yesterday (sarcasm). I have some measurements and fit comments in this post. Control+F and key search katzy to get to it quickly.
Charlotte - *lol* I wish. Let me know what you think of the Maybelle. You've inspired me to try and get a pic up of it before MUSTHAVE ends. I really like it and thru 3 promos have resisted ordering a 2nd color for $35.
mathteacher - I saw the newspaper in-store and think it's really cute. Same stupid styling where you can't really see the items, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. What can I say. I'm pimped on the corner across from Elaine. *waves*
Tracy Carson - The cord atlee skirt is on promo, or marked down?
Oh...I also wanted to say...I know it's not a consolation, but try not to feel too bad if you made an order before the 30%. I made one. A couple of my items are still available, but one lovely (ikat dot blazer) was definitely gone yesterday. I feel I've gotten some rock bottom deals in the past couple years, so it all kind of works out. As far as the future, I am trying to approach shopping retail like I shop Ebay. What's the price I want to pay? What's it worth to me? Am I going to feel remorse if I miss out? And the futile one, but I ask it anyway, do I really I need this? Do I already own it or something similar? And finally...there's going to be something new out there competing for my attention. That's definitely something to keep in mind :-)
ReplyDeleteOff topic: Today I received J.Crew collection catalog in the mail. Did someone receive it? (Sorry if someone has already posted)
ReplyDelete@gigofca--that is a very healthy approach!
ReplyDeleteAnyone tried the Cupro Élan trouser? They look so cute but I have a feeling they might be terribly unflattering...
ReplyDeletegem twin - I'm tryin' :-)
ReplyDeleteCaley - I have the stretch wool élan trouser. Check them out in this post. I tried the stretch flannel élan, but didn't like them. I think it was the fabric. I haven't tried the cupro.
The sale section still hasn't been updated, boooooo! Not buying anything unless they do an update!
ReplyDeleteSort of OT, but I was in my local JCrew today. Picked up the infinity sweater (black pine) and the marled shawl cardigan for $69 each.
ReplyDeleteLizzy - The $69 is a new sale price, or you got an educator discount on top of the 20% promo?
ReplyDeleteGigi -
ReplyDelete$69.50 was the new sale price (the 20% promo is no longer going on in my store - North Ave, Chicago). Thanks!
Lizzy T - thanks for the info :-)
ReplyDeleteGigi-no problem. Also, the markdowns were just done this morning.
ReplyDeletejcrewlove and gigiofca,
ReplyDeleteThe cord atlee skirt was on sale for $34.99 in my B&M
Jackie -- wow, thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow that is a great price thanks!! Does anyone know if one b&m has a price that all honor it?? Tia!
ReplyDelete
