Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I went Thursday evening and they were putting new arrivals on the floor. I was able to snap pics of a few items and have posted several on my blog for anyone who's interested. I didn't see anything that was a *must have* for me so far, but also didn't have the opportunity to get a look at all the new pieces. The website is supposed to update with new arrivals this Thursday, so maybe that will change. :)

  2. I'll be going sometime this week to return a crap load of stuff before the new return policy takes effect.

  3. jcmama: I did the very same thing last week. Stopped procrastinating and got rid of everything that was sitting in shopping bags waiting to be returned. There is a SA that follows me around the store urging me to "buy it now before it sells out" whenever I even pick up an item. I told her point blank that I would no longer be making ANY full priced purchases at J Crew. She looked shocked & ignored me for the rest of my visit. :)

  4. shopalot,

I don't blame you one bit! Unfortunatly with my work schedule I won't be albe to make it into the store to do returns before the new policy takes effect. I thought about mailing in my stuff but it is only about $20 worth of stuff so not sure worth it. I can gift the items that are crewcuts to others I guess.

I told my daughter just now about JCrew's new return policy and how we won't be shopping there much any more b/c we only get to the mall once every 2-3 months.

If they still gave store credit I would be fine but since that is gone I just cannot justify my hard earned dollars shopping there.

I realize this policy doesn't bother many? some? most? people but we all lead different lives/lifestyles and it does bother me A LOT!

  5. Seriously, shopping at JC is no longer fun for me with the new no returns after 30 days even for store credit along with the Final Sale online/catalog.
I mean, clothing/shoes is all about trying stuff on and figuring out what goes with what and who can really fork over that much $$ just to have an ill fitting item?

I should have never ordered a popback cashmere tee couple weeks ago. I wore it for the first time yesterday for two hours and after I took it off I could see several holes along the underarm/sleeve area. OMG...never again. I hope they take it back since it was FS.

I seriously am done with this new JC that no longer cares for what their customers think along with poor quality.

  6. jcmama,

Sorry to hear about your sweater. Just ask to speak to the store manager first thing and I am sure you will get your money back or at least store credit which would be better than nothing. If you return by mail they should be just as nice:) Just call CS and have notes put in your order. Good luck.

  7. Definitely take that sweater back, jcmama! I've had a lot of quality problems lately, i.e. hems falling out on the first hour of wearing, holes in knit tops before I've even had a chance to wear. Really discouraging. J Crew has taken back all of my problem items without question.

Totally agree with the JCAs who have issues with the new return policy. I can understand why a company wouldn't want to refund your money after a set amount of time, but to not give store credit for the price paid when the customer has a receipt is just ridiculous. Every time I've gone to return something and received a store credit, I have ended up spending MORE money than what the credit was for. Seems to me that would be to J Crew's benefit! We vote with our wallets and my wallet is staying closed for a while.

  8. jcmama, ITA on so many levels! Shopping used to be fun -- you could drool over what you didn't need, giggle at the truly silly, and go home with things that made you happy. Now even the truly silly aren't amusing any more, and as far as going home with things to liven up what still fits from last year…

    repetitive moan.

  9. Went to my local J. Crew and was pretty underwhelmed. I picked up one of the merino vest during the start of the sweater promo but I haven't worn it because I'm worried about the pill factor. Has anyone worn theirs without a lot of damage?

  10. Nomoneyfun,
I have worn my vest a few times and it is still looking new. I get tons of compliments too :)

  11. Thanks mini t! J. Crew clothes make me nervous. Not only is there less I like, the stuff I do like, I'm worried about it falling apart or looking old very quickly! :( But this may be one of the few keepers of late.
