Today is the last day that J.Crew is offering customers 30% off any purchase from their Final Sale {no minimum} and free shipping (over $150 *after* discounts applied) with promo code MUSTHAVE.
From the comments, it seems like this promotion was not what some of us needed to buy those end-of-Summer and just-arrived-Fall must haves. Either the "Final" in Final Sale was too much, or we were all shopped out for Summer. In either case, we are all looking forward to the Fall collection. :)
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion today? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?

ReplyDeleteI got the free shipping until Sept 19 but still not particularly tempted. There is maybe one sale item I am interested in but not sure it's worth it at FS. I am pretty surprised that the sale section has not updated AT ALL during this 30% promotion.
ReplyDeleteSmall updae this morning (when I went to bed there were 631 items and when I got up around 700) but nothing that I was hoping for. I am sure that there will be a big update tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSuch a small update, I didn't even notice! FYI I just ordered the sequin strip tank in fatigue (FS $29.99 , 30% off brings it down to $20) AND I got the free shipping....I was afraid it would only let me do one or the other, but I was able to combine my free shipping with the Sale!!!
ReplyDeleteNothing for me this time. I got the free s/h as well, but I'm irritated with the little/ no updates during this promo. Playing games w/ JC just doesn't do it for me. I'd lay money on a HUGE update after the promo ends, which has been the case many other times.
ReplyDeleteI just looked at the offer details on the site and it is giving Friday as the last day....not today. So they must have extended it? Maybe there will be a big update tomorrow for the last day?
ReplyDeleteOr it's a mistake in the offer details...
I placed an order on Monday evening...got a paper poplin button down, 2 pair of the skimmer pants, another embroidered tunic and the matchstick twill pants. Everything totaled $159...free shipping. The next day, low and behold, 30% off final sale! WTH?! I called up CS and they retro-actively applied the promo so that all of the items now totaled $111. This is why J. Crew is my go-to store for work attire, casual attire and elegant attire. Their CS is ah-MAZING!
ReplyDeletePlease remember who reads these postings when sharing special treatment you may have gotten from a nice CSR!!
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteThat is not the norm. This is probably a "one time courtesy":) or a CS who did not know any better. CS varies greatly at JCrew.
Ann,
ReplyDeleteProbably the sale is not going so well and people are not buying so they extended it....
Kimberly, thanks for the heads up, but I don't think its a secret. I think other people should be able to benefit from shared info in case they experienced something a bit different. Summer, I've actually had very good experiences the last 6 years with J. Crew :)
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteGuess you haven't been reading this blog for long??? Kimberly and I both have valid points that have been mentioned many times on this blog. I have been shopping JCrew for over 11 years now.
I got an email saying the promo was extended until EOD tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI was placing an order this morning and at checkout one of the sale items had the orange message "this item is no longer available" so I thought I'd go choose a different size but when I went back, my size and color were there, they were just back to full price. The item was #29866, long sleeve stretch perfect-shirt in warm burgundy.
Very sneaky J.Crew, trying to get me to buy it at full price without a discount after it has been in final sale for over a week. I dumped my cart so whatever game you were playing did not sucker me in. :P
Could anyone PLEASE share how they are wearing the Dot Chiffon Betsy Wrap cami? I got it on FS yesterday and so far I have had no success pairing it with anything. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!!
ReplyDeleteGot the Peekaboo Sequin sweater in Vintage Wisteria yesterday and it is gorgeous! I like it so much that I ordered the Ochre one today and may very well order the Heather Graphite one tomorrow since they have extended the 30% off sale. This cardi fits TTS, but be forwarned that the sleeves are rather tight (but did seem to stretch out the longer I had the sweater on).
OT-looking at FP boots. Has anyone reviewed their new boot? Considering: Walker Ankle Boots and the Crackled Leather Boots (which I don't see online anymore...hm?)
ReplyDeleteTIA
jcrewjunkie, I've been pairing the Betsy with a navy shrunken schoolboy blazer from Gap and a denim pencil skirt. With something over it, I haven't felt the need to wear something under it - and it just has some cute polka dots peeking out at the top and the bottom of the jacket.
ReplyDeletejcrewjunkie-second the blazer. I was thinking a tweed blazer too.
ReplyDeleteBTW-what size did you get? I need help ordering. IE how would sizing compare to a coralie? or a perfect-fit shirt?
For anyone interested- Carlin coat on sale for 129.99. After the 30% off it comes out to be $113 and some change. You have to search for it.
ReplyDeleteTina, I have had nothing but great CS experiences in my year of shopping at J. crew. As CS are human I guess it can vary but they have always been nice and reasonable with me on every occasion.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone think that there will be coupon codes on regular priced items anytime soon? I really want to pull the trigger on a peacoat, which is now on backorder til Oct, but I keep waiting for a code....should I just get it now? Ugh! I don't know.
ReplyDeletejcrewjunkie, i wear mine with denim mostly -- not dark denim, though, more the medium wash or distressed kind. looks great with busted-up matchsticks, believe it or not, as well as with slate gray or charcoal on the bottom -- skirt, shorts, pants, etc. HTHs!
ReplyDeletesilver_lining, pathos and Elaine. Thank you all for giving me such wonderfully fashionable advice! I plan to put these ideas into action when I go to work tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteElaine-I sized DOWN for this top. I read all the reviews on this blog and made my decision based on those. I got the size 0 instead of a size 2 and it fits perfectly! HTH.
Jcrewjunkie, I've been wearing mine w/a dark beige camisole underneath, with lots of long pear necklaces, bootcut jeans and my high heel clogs. Love it! And I tossed the whisper glimmer cardigan over it when it got chilly.
ReplyDelete@jcrewjunkie, i agree, big time! i'm usually between a 6 and an 8 so i went with the 6 but probably could have gone down to a 4 and been ok.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, the interior button and the hook & eye on the outside have already fallen off of my top. it's in my mending pile. urgh. i'm also going to add a button and loop over on the wrap side to hold it shut. without one it sort of falls open, and i like this top too much to not wear it for fear of exposure, lol.
Crazy experience for me today today. I received a shipment of items from the last 20% FS promo. One of the items, looked fine but it was not done up properly the way that new items usually are and the content tag was all curled up like the item had been worn so I anxiously looked it over inch-by-inch to identify any signs of wear. I couldn't find any so I tried it on and put my hands in the pockets only to find $127 cash. Now, I know it was definitely a worn return but it cost way less than $127 and it looks pristine.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for the person who may have misplaced their money, but then again, they are obviously returning a used item, but it's not my money. I'm emailing my PS to see if anyone has reported lost money in a return and if they could identify the item then I'll ensure they get their $ back. Pretty odd though. Maybe the item will be lucky for me when I wear it.
xoxo, omg! i'd probably keel over. i'm sure it was something someone wore and then returned. :-/ good on you for returning it. many people wouldn't!
ReplyDeletei also rec'd something in bizarre shape this week, a button-down shirt that had clearly been rolled into a ball inside out, all buttoned up! very odd. my husband looked askance at it and asked me to have it drycleaned before he could wear it, lol.
i've gotten a few items that are clearly returns because they've been retagged with a nonstandard tag. but so far no other issues, and i happily continue my streak of not having any items or orders canceled due to unavailability. ...
xoxo: LOL! That has to be the best online used item story I have heard yet. I've received a used, deodorant stained armpit cardigan (ICKY!) and several suspiciously crumpled, repackaged items but never have I found any cash. Was unhappy with the condition of a final sale shirt that arrived yesterday; shirt was rolled into a ball and sealed in a plastic bag. Thankfully, all of the tags (including the interior sensor tag, must have been an in-store item) were intact and it didn't smell used. It did go straight from the bag into the washing machine!
ReplyDeletePathos: I do have the cracked leather boots and I love them! They fit TTS, do not look as distressed in person and have a black lining instead of the natural leather shown in the catalog and look book. If you do a search they will show up as sold out. I had bought mine when they were first released and my SA said they were very popular.
ReplyDeletexoxo: wow, that's the best worn item story ever (even beats the used tissue in the pocket story)!
ReplyDeleteYou are a very honest person and you will surely have good Karma along the way! :-)
Btw, I'm not even visiting the Final Sale section. Don't care if it's extended for another day. Just a sign things are moving much for JC.
ReplyDeleteWith all these changes in return policy and educator/student discounts, I'm not in much mood for shopping from JC.
Just back from the Crew to make some returns, and saw a few new items and a bunch of new markdowns. I listed them all here.
ReplyDeleteMarled cardigan, lumiere cardigan, Ciel Etoile, to name a few.
I think I am learning to not shop popbacks. As I complained about last week, I got the canterbury cardigan with a hole (posted a pic), which I returned. I called in another order, and today received it. Oddly, IT HAS NO TAG. This is strange, isn't it? What does this mean? How could they not at least retag the item? It doesn't smell or look worn, but should I be concerned? It, too, was in a decrepit plastic bag ominously marked "final sale".
ReplyDeleteHmmm, was thinking about the Esme platform sandals, but too dicey on the sizing. Now am considering the Betsy dot cami - I am a 4 in perfect shirts - do I get a 4 or a 2? I'm busty and I don't want it falling open but I need definition at the waist....what do you ladies think? Thanks!
ReplyDeletexoxo, BIZARRE!! But good for you for trying to return the cash to its owner!!
ReplyDeleteI got a 0 in the Betsy dot cam and I always wear a xs or 0 and it works perfect for me. I'm not a little more busty I suppose tmi sorry! Hate final sale! I'm thinking about the esme pumps too they look so beautiful online!!
ReplyDeletexoxo - Wow, that's wild. Good for you to try to return the money.
ReplyDeletemommydearest - I tried the 6 today and felt it was still a little bit. I'm 34C, but have 'a stomach' right now and thought a 4 might get too tight. So I called & asked for measurements. Chest, Size 4 = 38", Size 6 = 39". I asked for waist and she didn't have it listed on the chart at all. FYI, the strap thing on the right is sewn down onto the top. Therefore, you can only adjust the waist so far. Once you get it over to the left side of your body, it stops at a certain point. It's hard to explain, but I think this is one reason why everyone is saying size down. Not to mention that you see a size 4 has a chest of 38. This is why I don't believe in TTS.
If you haven't seen a irl pic, you can see one in this post.
mommydearest - I meant to say that the 6 still felt too big.
ReplyDeleteI also got the denim chambray shirt all twisted and tied in a knot! WTH... And a jackie without a tag, it doesn't smell or look worn but still bugs me. It seems JC doesn't even bother anymore with FS merchandise. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteIf the owner doesn't come forward...at least I would donate the money to charity or a local women's shelter or food bank.
ReplyDeleteI mean if someone wears something and returns it-- which is very poor-- indeed and looses the money...to a good charity it would go if that happened to me....
Kathy-thanks for the boot review. I am glad they aren't as crackled, it was what was keeping me from buying in AUG. BTW, where do you shop shoes? I shop in Chicago but I don't know of any store that carries shoes.
ReplyDeletepathos - the Old Orchard and Northbrook stores carry some shoes. Not a ton, but some, and more at Northbrook.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the further feedback on the dot Betsy cami. Too hard to guess at a final sale size, so I have my fingers crossed they have something in the store to try on. Let's see how - whether - they publicizing the changes to the return policy....
ReplyDeleteI spoke with a SA about the return policy. They said they are not allowed to post a sign about the changes and only will bring it up if someone talks about returns. They also said the policy will not be changing for the holidays!!! Hopefully that changes.... So many people will be unaware!!

ReplyDeletejcrewlove,
ReplyDeleteThat is just sad:( and a bit (a lot) underhanded. Really turns me off to buying anything from JCrew!
I'm usually a lurker, but I had to post that I scored, what I find to be, some good deals... the drawstring dress for $10.49 (after 30% discount) and one of the tees for under $10... and a couple of more goodies. :) Love the 30% off items... especially the ones that you can wear into next season!
