Labor Day Sale at J.Crew!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Heidi (in this post) & Michelle (in this post), as well as Marietta & Ketan, who let us know that J.Crew is running their Labor Day Sale.

Reduced prices and new styles have been added to the Final Sale (click here to shop online). Some new additions include the Faded Paisley Flouncette Blouse (Item 30742; $98.00, $49.99).

J.Crew is also offering free shipping on orders of $100+ with promo code LABORDAY. This offer expires 9/6/10.

I haven't seen a code with this low of a minimum for awhile. Yey! :) Also, it is just me or are some of the new arrivals making it to Final sale really quickly now?

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion today? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?

  1. Alexis: The LABORDAY code is free shipping on orders of $100+ (not $150+). :)

  2. FFM: I just noticed that too and fixed it. Thank you so much! :)

  3. I like how they put final sale in tiny print at the bottom of the promo page. No shopping for me. I am hoping some other retailers offer promos on new fall items so will save my $$$

The silk scarf in ivory or black is now $29.99 and I own both colors. It is a nice scarf. That is about the only thing I would order on final sale anymore--a scarf or two. Even belts are sized differently. I used to consistenly order the same size from JCrew and could order with confidence. Last year and this year the belts even very.

Also, want to say thanks to all who are posting about the sleeves being tight in certain items. That lets me know to stay away from final sale as well since sizing has changed once again for fall!

  4. Hopefully there are enough "final sale" notices around that if there are first-time JC shoppers taking advantage of this sale, they will know that their items are non-returnable.

Lots of first markdowns moved to FS, and quite a few promos. I won't be purchasing anything from final sale. Sizing and quality are too dicey to gamble on without trying an item IRL beforehand.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Final sale is final sale and I won't bite. It's a rule with me now. Besides, I have enough spring and summer clothing and what I'd really love is a good good on full priced items.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I got my tweed skirt in the aluminum color yesterday, along with the orchid traversa cardi, the open merino cardi in pewter and a second Bettina cami. I am undecided on the skirt. It fits TTS, but feels pretty cheap and underwhelming for a $100+ skirt. I am also undecided on the Traversa as it was darker IRL than it appears on my monitors and the
ruffles just hit a bad place on me. It is a lovely sweater and feels thicker than 14 gauge, but I think it needs a taller person to pull it off well.

The cardi is great and the Bettinas have been great transition pieces for me, so I am very happy with my final sale acquisitions.

By the way, how did I miss this? Surely I would have ordered it, if I had seen it before it sold out :) :

  7. Oops! The entire address didn't copy over. I was looking at the "Taffeta Seine Vest."

    ReplyDelete
  8. I saw it at midnight and had some stuff in my cart and WISELY walked away to think it over overnight ... I sensed a promo might be coming on for the holiday. And good thing I did, because not only did a bunch of stuff pop back overnight, but *several* items dropped in price by $20, $20 and more. I swear I saw some swimwear separates that were $39.99 last night drop to $9.99 today.

A few items creeped back up (which I still don't understand) ...

I ultimately decided against the mosaic top and the beaded bazaar shell. I kept telling myself if I hadn't sought them out before now, I must not really want them. I love the colors and the style of the bazaar shell, but the fabric-covered beading at the top is what pushes me away. There's just too much of it. Even at $59.99. Does anyone care to sway me? It looks so cute with jeans, aarrgggh.

Other than that I just picked up some light/white tees and tanks for the whole family for our trip in a few weeks and a shirt the husband can wear to work.

If you're a size 0, you're in luck -- most of the pencil skirts from summertime are in stock at 39.99. Ink dot, ombre dot, impressionist, pastiche, fleurette, etc. Not sure what other sizes may be available -- I have most already and the only ones I didn't have were only avail. in a 0.

    ReplyDelete
  9. ooops, that's several items dropped by $10, $20 and more ...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Has anyone tried the draped glass necklace (item #27998)? Wondering how heavy it is, and if it makes jingly noises when you move. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Kimberly - I have the Draped Glass Necklace and love it! I came up with an outfit that the necklace works really well with here. It doesn't make any noise if you're just walking around or otherwise moving so that the necklace stays against your chest. If you bend over or lean over slightly to sit down and the necklace free dangles it will jingle. I haven't worn it around for a day so I don't know how much noise it'd make during daily activities though.

Also I noticed that several things were marked down but weren't put in the final sale section so you have to go look them up individually. The Merino Whisper Ruffle Sweater is one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Kimberly - Oh yeah I forgot to say, it's not too heavy, I don't feel anyway. I've got several recent baublelicious J. Crew necklaces so this doesn't feel particularly heavy! Also it's a bit long so it's definitely not a "crewneck" necklace.

  13. My PS said there will be new arrivals online tomorrow, September 2. I was a little surprised as I thought the next rollout was the following Thursday.

No more final sale for me. I have ordered everything I wanted and have been shopping elsewhere, picking up some beautiful things. I echo the comments of many that when items are just slightly reduced (10-20%) they should not be a final sale. :(

    ReplyDelete
  14. socialscientist - thanks! Is that the pale buff color? Looks great with your outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  15. xoxo: My online PS said the same thing. I'm guessing that's why they're offering the Labor Day promo and updated the final sale section, too.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Has anyone seen the Marion Flannel Jacket? Is it unlined? I'm guessing that's why it's marked down so soon, I really liked it but not if it's unlined.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sneaky buggers. Excuse while I pull out my lorgnettes so I can see the teeny tiny print on the sale page telling me "we have so little confidence in our products, you can't return them even on first markdown."

    ReplyDelete
  18. If this was not final sale and FALL SALE with returns I would definitely try a few items.

Like Dessert Flower I now have a strict rule of NO buying final sale--no matter what (now that final sale is really final)!

Just really disappointed in JCrew taking new fall items straight to final sale. Oh well. JCrew's loss.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Elizabeth, I'm guessing that the Marion is unlined because usually "Fully lined" is part of the description. You could always use the chat feature to confirm.

What's with all the unlined jackets this season? Actually, I know the answer to that ($$$).

    ReplyDelete
  20. silver lining I don't know what they're thinking with unlined jackets, I don't buy them even if I like them; they won't hold their shape and it's like throwing money away.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Something tells me summer's not the only thing "hanging by a thread" with final sale. ;) Still holding out for a FP promo.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Has anyone tried the white bootcut denim that has also tried this season's bootcut cords? If so, do they fit exactly the same? Even if they're down to $39. I don't want to lose $39.

I notice they marked down the Marina Stripe to $29. It's so see-through I wouldn't buy it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I decided to take advantage of this sale, although it only put final sale next to one item I bought (elastic belt) and not the other.
I've had my eye on the double-serge pencil skirt in vintage wisteria and that was the only one put on sale, so I snatched it up now. I've been waiting forever for some kind of promo to purchase it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. socialscientist, I really like the Velvet Ruby jacket on you. I was afraid it would look a bit like Christopher Walken on Saturday Night Live as The Continental. It looks really pretty to me. Is it unlined?

    ReplyDelete
  25. One more question - anyone know how the Fleurette cami fits (item #27826)? CSR didn't have measurements for the hip... wondering if it's comparable to the Coralie cami?

    ReplyDelete
  26. socialscientist, nevermind I see the lining :)

Thank you for such a detailed review, I quite like the jacket and think the dark wash of your jeans looks good with it. Are those JC jeans?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Does anyone have the silk cargo dress? Do you like it? does it fit TTS?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well, I have the double serge in vintage wisteria being delivered today. I guess if I like it I'll reorder with at the new, lower price. Seems like a waste of time and energy but for $20 it's worth it. I wish J.Crew would just do a price adjustment.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, I see the Irish Moss skimmers are down to 19.99. I have them in the olive color and love them. and the Dot chiffon Betsy wrap cami is down to 39.99. I bought mine on sale at my b&m store and I LOVE it. I've been wearing it w/bootcut jeans and high heel beige clogs and have gotten a lot of compliments. It runs tts and I wear a little cami underneath b/c it is low cut. Just fyi for those who may be interested.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jruby do you know if the Skimmers fit the same way as the Scout chino?

    ReplyDelete
  31. jacquelyn, you should be able to get a PA on the skirt if you like it... I think it's within 7 days of the date that the item has shipped.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I bit and bought the metalic Beach cardi in matalic camel and the skimmer pants in irish moss.
Does anyone have the beach cardi? Do you like it?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Are the stretch double-serge pencil skirts a safe bet in this final sale? I have needed a khaki/brown-colored pencil skirt for years now...the one in mink is calling my name. Those who have this skirt, what is the fit like?

    ReplyDelete
  34. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Also..noticed that the Embossed Basket weave beach dress is on sale for $80...I have a size 2 that is NWOT (bought at clearance store but never wore) that I will sell for $40 shipped. If interested, email me at musingsonmtn@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  36. Notwithstanding my earlier protests, a wildcat ombre pencil skirt has been hanging around in my bag for a while, and when it went down to $39.99 this morning I succumbed. But that's it! Not doing *anything* else until a promo on FP new fall items.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The summer's "hanging by a thread", as is some of the quality of items lately. Their wording made me chuckle, even as I sat last night, mending holes in nearly new items. *sigh*

    Nothing for me, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Elizabeth, I'd say the skimmers run a little more generous than the Scout. I had tried the Scout chino shorts on (in same sz as Skimmers) and they were more snug than the skimmers. That is assuming the Soout chino shorts fit the same way as the Scout chinos as I imagine they would. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  39. AppGal, I loved the tailored denim pencil, but the cotton serge skirt was terrible on me. The fabric is very stiff and I thought it ran a little large.

I wouldn't do this one on a final sale if I hadn't already tried it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Elizabeth - the Marion jacket is unlined. I received it yesterday and it's going back. Very cute style, but has absolutely no shape without a lining.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well, the prices are seriously tempting. I am thinking about the Jackie shell for $14.99, a belt for $14.99, the impressionist pencil and the skimmers. I feel very confident about sizing b/c I have all these items in different colors, etc.. also, the dream criss cross draped sweater is now $49 in that bronzed twig/olive color. I tried it on in the store and really liked it. I'm debating....

    ReplyDelete
  42. I truly heart all of the pencil skirts I bought this summer. Not enough to have paid FP for them, but I have certainly gotten my money's worth from them already, and I know I'll hold onto them for a long time. I think a JC pencil skirt for $39.99 is a steal! *enables*

    ReplyDelete
  43. Elaine: I am wearing the Beaded Bazaar shell today and I have received a TON of compliments. It is lined, the colors look incredible with gold sandals and a neutral capri (which I am also wearing) and the top can be dressed up or down quite easily. The only problem I have with it are the wrinkles that develop when I am sitting at my desk due to the fact that it is linen. The top, however, is so pretty that I can live with this. Lol. I bought this when it went on sale ($59.99) and have not regretted the purchase. One word of caution. It runs big (at least on me it did) so size down or at least stick with your regular J Crew size. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Elizabeth, I had a similar experience to Jruby18 on the skimmer pant.

If anyone would like my 40% off 2 item BR code for today only, email me at carolinelchoe at gmail dot com. Unfortunately it does not work on shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have two 40% off coupons for BR too if anyone would like them. jcrewlove@gmail.com Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  46. For what it's worth, I have loved my ink blossom & impressionist skirts - which I could have bought them at these current prices

    ReplyDelete
  47. SNORE! I will take a pass on this promo. Eagerly awaiting the new rollout.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am debating on the Featherweight cashmere V-neck cardigan (in gray) I have been wanting it forever, and cashmere you can never go wrong. Is it truly only a summer/spring/early fall cardigan or can it be worn year round?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Add me to the list of those who purchased the skimmer pant. I bought a black and an irish moss pair. They are far more flattering on me than the Minnies but both are real classic items for me. Very sneaky of JC to only put the orchid shadow and terra cotta on sale when the extra percentage off was going on!

Elizabeth, I actually sized down one size for these. It could be how I'm shaped, but the skimmers were more flattering when slightly more fitted on me. And they ran just a smidge large in my book...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Kimberly - It's actually the Crystal color (I'll go update that on the blog). The Pale Buff is actually quite a brown tone.

Elizabeth - The Jeans are the Pacific wash in the Dita Petite bootcut fit by Citizens of Humanity (I'll update that info too). However COH changes their Pacific wash, which is a perennial, every so often and the one I'm wearing is actually from about two years ago I think. Their new ones are similar, but a darker color and slightly thinner/finer fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  51. trujob...I just got the featherweight cashmere v neck last week. Although my PS told me the featherweight is the same this year as it was last year, it seems a little heavier this year.

It does feel like a warmer weather sweater but you might pull it off with a long sleeve perfect T and scarf on a warmer winter day, which I plan to do but also live in Socal. I don't think this will keep you warm on colder days though.

    ReplyDelete
  52. trujob, while I have not purchased any of the featherweight cashmere this season, in years past it has been extremely thin and sheer and I would say it's warm weather only. Also tends to pill, though not as much as its cold weather counterparts. Could be a worthwhile purchase for the near future/next year but depending on where you live I'm not sure how much use you'd get out of it in a few months from now. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm a little ashamed to admit it...but I'm tempted by the knit leggings (with the ankle zip, itm# 26395). The Sweatshirt dress looks comfy and cute with a belt, and the Impressionist skirt is just so bright it's hard to resist.
But has anyone bought/tried on the knit denim leggins?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I was actually just going to ask about others' experiences with this year's featherweight cashmere. I have the Michelle O argyle cardi from last spring and it has held up like a champ. However, the featherweight cardi I wore yesterday (from this spring) shed (not so much pilled, but came off in fuzzy balls all over what I was wearing). I just washed it and noticed more shedding, this time more in strings, if that makes sense. Anyone else have this problem? I'm hoping it gets better. It's almost like the sweater is disintegrating before my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Silk cargo dress - on Dina

Beaded bazaar shell - irl pics - Elaine I felt the same way about the covered buttons, but I liked them in person. I decided covered is good because when the rhinestone sequin trend ebbs, I can still wear it. I ended up getting the top for $59.99. It's never popped back in my size along w/a % off promo. I'm done w/getting up during the witching hours to look for popbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Has anyone seen the Crystal bib necklace IRL? Is it a f*@kery? I feel like it could go either way. But a price drop that huge usually indicates a f*@kery...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Corry, yes, ucky strings on this past spring's cashmere. Bought a short-sleeve pale rose cardi on FS (grrr), which happened to be same color as a ribbed cotton perfect tank. Thus, explore during day, go into air-conditioned wine bar later. Well, no. Cashmere morphed into pills, strings, weaver's reject. Sad & annoyed. Advise caution.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Has anyone tried the Peekaboo sequin cardigan (item 28949)? It intrigued me when it first came out and I saw it in store and thought it was pretty. I'm contemplating pulling the trigger on it at $69.

Also, do the twill minnies fit the same as the denim minnies? The twill on are on sale, NOT final sale, and I could use them in black.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I bought the Sequin peekaboo cardigan and LOVE it (in fact I want to buy it in another color!). I had to size down to small from my usual size of medium.

    ReplyDelete
  60. AppGal - The stretch double serge is <a href="http://gigisgoneshopping.blogspot.com/2010/02/j-crew-stretch-double-serge-pencil.html>in this post</a>. I loved the fit of it. I didn't try any of the lighter colors and would be curious to see how the backside seams show up -- if it's very va-voom. The cut & fabric of the skirt are great.

<b>post-fab princess</b> - I saw the crystal bib necklace in person a few times on a mannequin. It looked very pretty, but not enough for me to want to try it on. Not convinced I could wear it for years. Not that'd I'd want to, but any costume jewelry over $20 I'd like to pretend that I could.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I gave it up for the sequined studio sweatshirt in bronzed clay. It was marked down to $119.99. Now, either that color has sold out, and it was the only color on sale, or something has gone wonky, because I don't see it anymore on the sale section. Check back in the early am if you are interested (or a sucker for sequins, like me!).

    ReplyDelete
  62. This is OT: Does anyone have an Ann Taylor code or any hints about what they might be offering this weekend? I just want a little tee shirt and am hoping for a no-minimum FS or a % off that will justify the ship cost.

Trujob, a different take on the featherweight cashmere--out of all my recent JC cashmere purchases, my SS featherweight card sucks the *least* so I'm fairly happy with it. I don't wear mine in winter due to color and style, but the featherweight could work as a layering piece IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I can't believe the new Fall items like basic dress shirts and camis are on sale already, plus the camis and sweaters that are marked down to .99 FS!

Here's my "talking myself out of FS he77" comment (please forgive the long post):

    1. It's FINAL.
    2. Sorely tempted by the Skimmers, tried on the regular fit and found it tight at calves, want to order talls to "see if they'll work", then realized I'm only tempted by the colours (Irish Moss & Orchid Shadow). Nothing more. JC please make other pants in these colours.
    3. Featherweight cashmere. Got 3 cardis and 2 shells this past spring. Have to handle them like they're haz mat. I wear a shirt under so I don't stain, had to size up cos of the shirt, worry about tugging the sleeves over shirt, hand wash, trim fuzz balls, worry about snags...nuff said. Wish JC would make Merino pieces in the delish colours that I can't seem to find anywhere else.
    4. Embellished tees further marked down. Last time I was at a B&M I was overwhelmed (and turned off) by how many languished in the sales section. Just cos I'm looking at a thumbnail size pic I'm more inclined? Think not...
    5. It's FINAL.

Solidarity ladies! Hold hard against FS temptations!

  65. Thanks Gigi. Good to know the Crystal bib isn't yucky IRL - like a big ol' rhinestone encrusted banana strung on a cord! It could have gone that way.

Still, I think it might be a bit fancy for everyday...

    ReplyDelete
  66. "Sucks the least."

Lol, that should totally be J.crew's new guide to its cashmere. Regular cashmere and dream "sucks the most."

I wish it didn't, because the colors are dreamy.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Has anybody tried the Betsy wrap cami in dark plum? please let me know I've been eyeing this blouse since it was FP, thanks

    ReplyDelete
  68. Corry, I had a similar "molting" experience with my featherweight cashmere on two very public occasions, one a wedding and two a business meeting. I was bored in the meeting and literally sat very quietly in my chair and watched my black cardi rain fuzz balls on my white Emmaleigh dress. Talk about noticeable! Needless to say, after the meeting was over I continued to sit in my chair until everyone left the room, then ran to the supply room at the office, locked the door, took off my dress and masking taped most of the fuzz off, but my white dress kind of looked dingy with residual fuzzies the rest of the day. I still have the sweater- I can't make myself throw it away( literally flushing money down the toilet), but I don't want to give it away either, and transfer the embarrassment to some unsuspecting soul.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Thanks Bobster! I usually take an XS and ordered that, so hopefully it won't be too big on me. Luckily with a cardigan, I layer a fitted item underneath or belt it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Laura, I purchased the dot chiffon version of the Betsy cami and the fit was a disaster. It easily added 10 lbs to my frame on account of the way it bloused out over and under the tie belt, and the belt itself did nothing in terms of waist definition. While I realize this is the design, I distinctly recall eyeing myself in the mirror thinking, "what body type would this flatter? I don't think any." Perhaps the silk non-chiffon version has a slightly different cut, hard to tell from the online pics, but I just wanted to give you a heads up on my experience. I really, really wanted to love it but it was just impossible. Even considering the current markdown.

    ReplyDelete
  71. David, for the sake of suffering humanity, your defuzzed black cashmere cardi and my defuzzed, de-string-ed pink cashmere cardi must NEVER be allowed to get together. Their hairless offspring -- a terrifying (and expensive) thought.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Corry, I have a couple LE waffle weave cashmere sweaters that shed ridiculously and seem to have actually gotten worse with age. I can see a lint outline of where I was sitting when I get up from a chair. So embarrassing!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Embossed playa dress- ladies, does it run big or TTS? Scoopneck anything is usually bigger. Any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
  74. @Laura: Slastena posted about the cami here (scroll to bottom) HTH

  75. @ Hexicon & WFF: ROFL.

My Pringles (scottish) cashmere sweaters are 20+ years old (hand me downs from mom) and they are lofty with no pilling or shredding. I just chalk it up to "they don't make them like they use to".

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thank you guys for your advice about the betsy wrap cami.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Laura, I have tried this cami - the dot version. I have a picture of it on my blog but it is under a sweater. I normally take a size 2 in tops, but I went down a size to 0 and there was still some cleavage showing -- and I am not that big either. Unless you are quite flat-chested, like Slastena mentioned, you may not like this blouse as it makes you huge on top. JMO

    ReplyDelete
  78. That wont be a problem for me, I'm 34A :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Laura, for what it's worth, I have the Betsy chiffon cami and I don't have the issues others have noticed - I'm a 34B, so that could be the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Since I'm finally off shopping ban, I did bite, but only on pieces I was sure about size-wise. Got the tissue shirred tee ($10 FS) in several colors, the twill Minnies in khaki for $59.50 (not FS), and a victoria ruffle cami ($15 FS). I've been wanting the khaki minnies for a while, and this was a good price point for me.

I definitely recommend any of the summer pencil skirts at $39.99 - such a deal.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Both the Economist & Time have had articles in the past year how cashmere has become so much more accessible because manufacturers use shorter fibers. Longer fibers cost more, but pill less.

All of my older cashmere sweaters still look really good. I only bought some j.crew cashmere two winters ago because the bateau neck sweaters at one point had dropped to $40. For that, I can live with having to de-pill them.

    ReplyDelete
  82. CCS - I got the Peekaboo Sequin Cardigan in Vintage Wisteria and love it! I can't stop raving about the color - it's super flattering. I can't comment on the other colors as I got this one mostly for the Vintage Wisteria, but the orange looks fun too. I love the cardigan because it's a very fun, playful style that has a sense of humor. I'm going to put pics up on my blog later, maybe tonight.

  84. I got a 20% off coupon in my latest catalog. Can that and the laborday code both be used?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Laura, you may need a 00. I am 36B and needed a 0 in the Betsy. I would call/write them and ask for the exact measurements.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Do you think there is any chance they will offer an extra percent off the sale prices on labor day?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Just to comment on the dotte Betsy Cami....my 5'9" daughter got this one when it went on sale and it looks great on her. No bagging or blousing, but she bought it in a 2. Normally she wears a 4 in JC tops. So, consistent with other comments, probably best to size down. I have not tried it on personally.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hi Everyone!

I wanted to comment on the Betsy cami today- I actually received it when I got home from work so all day I was all worried about how it would fit because I had never tried it on IRL! I typically always wear a XS or a 0 in J. Crew clothes (lately- I used to wear bigger size before I feel like the sizing changed).

I tried on the Betsy Cami and I absolutely LOVE it! I have it in size 0- I am a 32 C and not very tall (5'3") and maybe I am wrong but I really feel like it is really well made and I love it! Am I crazy? I most likely will wear a cami under it to work but it really does not V too low for me (and I don't like things to be too showy ever.)

In addition I received the Faded paisley flouncette blouse - I got this in a 0 and it fits great. I feel like it fits TTS and is really beautiful honestly. It is very sheer- but I plan on wearing it over a cami so it will be ok:)

I also received the Petit four cardigan in black. I feel like this fits TTS and has some really cute details to it! I think that feels a little heavier than what they have had recently and I am really happy with it!

I am really into the greens and army greens right now so I am excited about this shirt (the tissue folded ribbons tee).

It seems a little long but the XS is TTS. Don't ask me how / if I will be able to really wash this hand wash tshirt! :)

Last is the Microspun pocket tank in the bronzed twig color- it is really a pretty color and I feel the size fit well and the material was suprisingly soft!

Sorry for the long post here!

  89. jcrewlove: Did you buy the betsy dot cami or the silk version? I was not goint to order it but now with all the good comments I'm not sure.

  90. Laura

The label says 100% silk and lining is 100% polyester style 28509 and it looks exactly like this: http://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/shirts/PRDOVR~28509/28509.jsp

I hope that helps! I don't think I have seen the other one? Or is the other the solid colored one? :)

Ps the thing the saves it for me is I love these wrap shirts but I typically am not comfortable wearing them because they are so low cut- but this has a small eyelet closure you can't see it when it's hooked closed that makes it fit very nice on IMO !!

  91. I haven't tried that particular cami, but if a hook and eye will hold the neckline, that's an easy alteration. I've done it many times with necklines that are too low or tend to open.

Has anyone tried the stretch wool bistro pants? How does the fit compare to the stretch cotton bistro pants?

  92. The tiny print with "final sale" is really sneaky, JC.

If we all don't bight on this promo maybe we can see an extra % off? Maybe?

  93. Tried on and purchased a new pant in the store today - called the "Anne". Seemed to be the ripstop fabric. Similar to the
Waverly pants with a tapered leg but with a bit highter rise. Came in greenish khaki and black. I like the fabric and better from my point of view for not having the cargo pockets on the thigh. Fit TTS.

SA said it might be a store only pant, but since some new items are supposed to come online tomorrow, hoping these will come in petites too.

Also, tag on the pants said $59.50 but they rang up at $75!! Good thing I was paying attention for once and didn't get over charged!

  94. Thanks for the responses, although now I'm officially depressed. I really like the color of my fw cardi from this spring, but it looks like it is not long for this life.

At the risk of reigniting this weekend's discussion, I'm wondering when I'm going to finally call it quits with JC. My poor snagged Jenna and my fw cardi look ready for goodwill. Both have been worn exactly twice.

Was it LBH who said it so well the other week? Resolve never to buy JC again, and then comes the next rollout? We'll see if I can stay strong tomorrow morning!

I'm amazed at the low prices on things (skirts at $39.99, as already mentioned). I don't remember prices like this since after the economy crashed, in late 2008. I expect more deep discounts are coming.

I do think the Collection cashmere of a few years ago was worth the money (well, on sale). I have a couple nice Collection sweaters from 2008 that have nary a pill.

Well, enough kvetching! Hope everyone is having a good evening. I'm going to drown my sorrows in some crappy TV.

  95. It seems like I might be the only one who does this.... But when I have jc items that literally fall apart after one wear I take them back to the store receipt in hand and they ALWAYS give me a refund!! (which i always end up buying new items with...) Most recently I bought a t and after one wash on delicate and laying flat to dry it had holes in the armpits! I have returned probably 5 times now never an issue (including final sale items). If this has happened to you I would do the same I just don't think keeping something after one or two wears that is falling apart is fair!!! (esp if bought at full price...)

  98. jcrewjunkie, good to know --- darn, it was up in a size 6 the other day and i didn't bite. it was only avail. in an 8 online and now there's none left. i shall check in the wee hours after the inventory refreshes, hehehehehe....

i went into the store today to return the purple pants that were sent to me by mistake and picked up the pilar paisley cami for $29.99. i tried on the sequin stripe tank (with the big rectangle in the center) and i liked it a LOT, but i think it will drop more in price so i'm waiting it out.

  99. oh and FWIW, i love my Betsy wrap cami as well -- i'm flat as a board on top, so maybe that's why? but i really like it. sad to say that i've only worn it twice and the interior button that holds it shut has already fallen off, the hook & eye closure that protects my decency is on the verge of falling off, and i'm going to sew on a new button at the waist on my left side to hold the shirt shut (design flaw, they should have noticed this).

i can't believe i still like it anyway, but i did pay only $25 for it. beyond that not sure i'd have bit. jmo.

  100. ok, what the HALE is going on? all of a sudden i see stuff out the wazoo marked down to $9.99 that i am CERTAIN was not anywhere near $9.99 earlier today. this is craziness. if you've been holding out on swimwear, now might be the time! *boggles*

  101. SEmom--could it have been a solid color version of the Delancey cargo pant? I hope so, that pant fits so nicely but not many places I can wear the camo...

  102. AppGal, the stretch double serge pencil skirt is definitely worth FS risk. It is an AWESOME skirt. It fits really well and the material is thick and substantial... in a good way.

Also, I need to say WTF to the wool double serge pencil skirt in vintage wisteria ALREADY being on final sale. REALLY? It's still 90 degrees outside.

  103. Odd question, but does anyone know of any pictures that show the *back* of the back-seam polka dot tights? http://bit.ly/9uNXYZ I had a pair of polka dot tights I was CRAZY about that I had no idea where I'd got, and now I'm thinking J. Crew, but mine didn't have a seam. Seems odd that there is no picture considering it's such a distinctive feature.

  104. Here is a great video of the new JC men's store uptown NYC. It was my husband stumbling upon the "Liquor Store" in Tribeca a year plus ago that got me back in to JC after decades. I think they are doing a great job. Also love ACL--they did a bag for JC--maybe Alexis should try her hand at some design!

  105. Em, it was my understanding after asking CS several times now, that if an item ends in .99 it is final sale but items ending in .50 and .00 are not FS. Now I never fully trust what they tell me until I call back with a specific item number in hand, but in this case, the skirt is $98.00 so it looks like they just reduced the price and it is not FS (the FS print does not come up in the item screen).

I wish they'd segregate FS from non FS since depending on my mood, I won't buy FS but have to sort through the FS section (in some cases) to locate non FS items.

  106. gem twin:

I think the new B&M Anne pant looks more like the crop cargo pant
but longer and minus the cargo pockets and zipper on the leg.

    ReplyDelete
  107. thanks SEmom--I am definitely hoping to find those at my local B&M

  108. Does anyone else get the feeling that there are thousands of Andre Dresses in Sweet Tulip sitting in a warehouse somewhere, and they are going to be there for a looong time?

  109. Someone was asking about those tights. I don't know if these are what you are referring to, but I noticed a seam even though the product page is for something else. Check out the 3rd pic:
