J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. For those of you tempted to get the lumiere cardi on FS, I was in yesterday and bought the caramel color (I don't see this color online though). I hover between S-M and settled on the S (I take an S in the Jackie). It was lovely. Really, really lovely. And the papaya color is stunning.

  2. I posted a few pics of some items i tried in JC yesterday on my blog.

  3. Has anyone successfully bought the tan (Heather Driftwood)Heathered Lumiere Ruffled Cardi online? The picture for the Heather Driftwood shows a completely different color, which is confusing. So I'm wondering which one it actually is, the color shown or the color listed.

Maybe I'll ask a PS about it.

  4. ITA w/Rebecca, the lumiere is great. I have irl pics of the camel & papaya in this post. The camel look green on this particular monitor and doesn't on my laptop monitor. It's definitely a nice caramel.

  5. Wowza, got the Leigh chiffon cardigan in Heather elm in the mail today. I am usually a small in cardigans, but the small fits like an XS. I am almost wondering if it was mis-sized. I have never bought a medium, so I am sure that would be too big. Anyone else buy this cardigan that can comment?

  10. Just got the moss skirt. It is not as luxurious as wool, to be sure, but it is quite lovely and I am very happy with it! I also got the Jenna cardigan in pine forest which is quite lovely as well and great for the price!

  11. Denim pencil skirt (29179) - I got this on the 30% promo and am very happy with it. I was on the fence about the tailored denim skirt but was apprehensive about the front pleats and pockets, and I'm glad I went for this one instead. I'd say it's TTS, nice length (just above knee - I'm almost 5'5"), perfect amount of stretch. Pencil skirt aficionadas should love it!

  12. OK, told self enough whining about the website, and went out to the stores. Spoiler alert, these are not reviews of anything I bought, but I did try on the following:

First, the Langford oxfords. The fit was dubious (I have narrow feet), and while pondering I noticed that the leather on the toe box of the right shoe was not properly attached to the sole. There was actually a little pleat to force the leather to match up with the sole, and then there was a visible blob of glue over the stitching.

So I should have gone home, but pressed on. Next, delicious schoolboy velvet jacket in dark plum, tried on the 4, v. skimpy and tight in shoulders. The 6 fit the same way, got stubborn, tried on the 8 and then the 10. Well, as they used to say in cut-and-sew country: first you pick the order, then you add the size tags.

Sad about jacket, but relieved, because the dark plum looked like it would be perfect with a sequin pencil skirt in a slightly lighter plum color, and I actually thought about it! This is on the site in "brown sheen" but the one in the store was more a wine-plum-wisteria tone. There were 5 or 6 on the floor, and they were all stuck together. By the sequins. They probably still are, if anyone's interested.

Speaking of sequins (and JC makes it difficult not to), the store also had 5 pairs of Black.Sequin.Harem.Pants hanging on a rack. Including a size 14. There was a post last nite about a foto of Martha Stewart in this unfortunate choice. Now we know why that was possible.

Also not flying out of the store -- Lambie in white, looking shopworn.

Can't wait to see what the new rollout will bring!

  13. Has anyone purchased the Silvana cardi? It's on promo and I'm interested in getting it, but I'd like a little feedback first. Thanks!

  14. Picked up the Marled Shawl Cardi in the lighter color (camel maybe?) and the infinity cardi in black pine. Both were $69.50. Love both - esp the marled shawl. Great color and very comfy.

  15. WFF, agree completely on the velvet jacket. My dauphine is a 2, my Maggies are 4s (and loose) and all my coats are generously cut size 4s. I started with the 4 in the jacket and gave up at 8. The sleeves were ridiculously short and the shoulders were still tight on the the 8.

The donegal, by comparision, is loose, but overall a good fit in a 4.

This is not at item to try for the first time via final sale.

  16. Can anyone comment on sizing of the Arrow Sweater? Do you recommend sizing up if you want to layer? I fear that it could have tight arms and I'll look like my arms are sausages...

Also...not sure if anyone posted, but 20% off all sweaters online.

  17. This may be a major (but only $14.99) mistake, but I ordered the drawstring v-neck henley dress (27845) after seeing it on a girl in-store....review coming when it arrives (keeping fingers crossed it's not a total disaster)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I bought the Silvana and love it. I'd say it runs TTS.

Also, bought the Arrow cardigan and feel that runs TTS as well. The Arrow cardigan is fabulous!! I didn't notice that the arms were tight like I had in other sweaters (i.e., the Infinity cardi) but I was only wearing a light t-shirt underneath. But still that was all I had on when I tried the Infinity and I could definitely tell then that the sleeves were too tight on that one. HTH.

  19. Apropos of nothing in this post, I was poking around in Old Navy last night and saw several deja-Crew items. They knocked off the Tissue Victoria Cami in white, goodnight nora (almost navy), papaya, lilac, black and heather gray ... not with a pleated placket but with a gathered one, and the armholes cut away more than the Victoria. But it's obvious what the inspiration was; I knew immediately when I saw it. Usually $14.50 and on promo for $12. I bought the blue one 2 weeks ago and the papaya one last night. Still cannot find this for sale on the Web site.

They also copied the tiered silk top (listed as the Chiffon-Charmeuse Tiered Tank), but ON's version is a bit shapeless and VERY long. I think it covered my butt! It was a pretty good copy though. My store had it in ivory, gray and black, and the smallest size they had was a Medium and I was swimming in it. I might have bought it in a Small.

Also saw the satin-trimmed ripple ruffle tee tank in black and white, gray and teal -- (listed as Satin-Trim Tank on the site) an excellent copy, but ... the trim was very well done, but the cotton of the body of the tee was just not good quality. I've spoiled myself with J Crew slub. Now nothing else will do. :-/

Finally, right next to those was a satin-trimmed cotton cardi (Satin-Trimmed Jersey Cardigan). It was darling on the hanger, but something about it just didn't work when I tried it on.

Anyhoo, I thought I'd report wheat I saw in case anyone's in the market. :-)

  20. I also think that the Arrow is gorgeous but would not recommend sizing up. I took my usual S and it fit great overall, and would also be able to fit a long sleeved shirt underneath without a problem. Keep an eye on your shoulder and front seams, though - I have seen several that had loose or skipped stitches.

  21. Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the input on the Arrow and sizing. I'll order my regular size. Now I just need to decide on the green or the gray!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Has anyone tried on the Marled Pullover Hoodie? I really like the look for it but it says "looser fit" and I'm nervous to order on final sale. Any help would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Heh heh, WFF, weren't those sequin.harem.pants allegedly a big seller? And yet, you discover five in one store. Hmm. Being told by a j.crew salesperson that an item is a "hot seller" to me now means "it's not selling at all. Please buy this." These sequin.harem.pants, it sounds like I will be able to get a pair cheaply so I can dress up for Halloween. Afterwards I'll lay them outside and use them to collect solar energy. Win-win.

Jacket sizing is a hoot, no? I dropped down two sizes in the Dauphine. Felt a bit sheepish returning two others to store, but SA was sympathetic to size issues.

  24. LBH, I had planned a JC-themed Hallowe'en party, with JCAs invited to post photos of odd JC wear (and comments) å volonté, but the new return policy has caused that to be cancelled. I should mention that I was NOT in the Collection Store yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Given the reports of items running small lately, is it possible that J.Crew is trying to back off the vanity sizing, or is it more likely that these are just random sizing/quality issues?

I received my wildcat pencil skirt last week (OK for $39.99 but would have been a real disappointment at FP) and it was a full inch smaller than my other 09 and 10 pencil skirts. I know others were saying this year's Fleurette ran really small too.

  26. mommydearest, gigi has blogged about this dress here:

  27. Angry Thumb -- thanks for the review of the Leigh. How was the color and fabric? I think I heard it ran small, so if I get it, I'll size up.

I tried on the moss tweed pencil skirt at the store last weekend. It's beautiful, but they've kept with the vanity sizing on that one. I'd say guess on the smaller size.

On the other hand, the petit four cardigan runs small. Very tight arms, all the way to the cuff!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree, love my Arrow sweater in my regular size. I would only layer a thin shirt under it when the weather cools down. I got the elm color since I have way too many gray cardigans. However, I have to exchange it for another one since I noticed a snag (missed stitching) on one of the sleeves when I came home.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Angry Thumb - I always chat or email for measurements. Some tops or sweaters will be a 34" for S, but I've also see 33" and 32".

WFF - It sounds like there are some fit issues w/the velvet blazer (29928)because the regular 4 fit me almost perfectly and I am usually 6P.

Lizzy T - Irl pics of the arrow sweater in this post. It's a fitted sweater, jacket. I felt fine in the small & was wearing the beaten twill popover underneath. I don't know how many layers you want to add, but you might prefer a M if you're concerned about the arms to begin with.

JW - I got a XS in the marled pullover. I usually take S.

  30. Double serge pencil skirt (the new wool one). I bought the nordic blue full price with my rewards, LOVE this color. I am 5'10" and the regular is nice and long, hits me just at the middle of the knee.

I got the wisteria or whatever it's called (pink) with the extra 30% off promo. It is way more purple IRL, I am going to return it because it is VERY similar to the fresh plum from last year. More subdued, but similar.

Also, re: sizing, I held this year's version in size 6 up to my Fall 2008 double serge pencil skirts which are a size 4... they are exactly the same. Something to consider, seems like this year's version is running a bit small.

    ReplyDelete
  31. On the schoolboy blazer, I ordered it in a 6P (always, always, my jacket size) and the arms were way too short. Odd, because I have very short arms. I returned it for a 4 regular and it is fine, but definitely not vanity-sized.

I also received the dream open shawl cardigan. I was hesitant about the fabric, but decided to do it when it was on special for $80. I love the color (the grayish blue), fit is tts and I like the open collar. The knit feels tighter to me than the dream sweaters from last year, but we'll see.

I also got the tulle two-piece last night. I think this is sold out now, but it is really a nice suit. Cup size just a bit big.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't think this year's double serge is running small. I have the black from '08 and the pearl grey and plum from '09. All three of those are size 6. I could have them taken in a little at the waist, but I usually need a little room for the hips and booty. This year, the 4 or 6P fit better than the 6.

Also, I am surprised by the comment on the petit four cardi. I ordered it in a small and the Jenna in a medium after getting the measurements. The petite four was huge and shapeless, while the supposidly larger Jenna was smaller and more shapely. I was also ticked that the trim looked ivory in the pictures but was a deep oyster color IRL, so it went right back.

As much as our impressions of how items run seem to differ, I wonder if items vary substantially in size/quality from piece to piece. I know for a fact that my grey Maggie is smaller than my camel one. There is over an inch difference in the bust and 1/2 an inch difference in the shoulders.

  33. re: sizing
In JC jackets this year have found other than the basic styles being shorter, I am wearing my usual size or a size smaller but in "tall". In pants, finding across all shopping venues (including the "fancier" ones) that I have to try 2 pairs of each of 2 sizes to get a pair that fits. They must be cutting through thicker and thicker piles of fabric causing these inconsistencies. I am only buying pants in shop as a result.

  36. Has anyone tried or seen the Merino and mohair shawl-collar cardigan or the Merino rayé cardigan IRL? I'm wondering if they are going to be a holy pill-y mess after a few wears or if they have a weird fit.

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  37. With the weather finally being cooler, I've gotten to wear some of my new sweaters (finally).

I absolutely love the Arrow and if you are questioning it, I say go for it! The knit is really substantial. I felt so cozy and comfortable in it. It fits TTS with enough room for layering a tee or even a thinner merino sweater IMO.

Also got to wear my dream open shawl collar cardi which is beautiful. No evidence of pilling so far. The fit on this one is TTS but tighter in the arms than the Arrow.

I picked up the Merino Whisper Sweater in natural because I wanted a light, neutral top. I wasn't really expecting much but I like the neckline a lot, it is simple but unique.

Ordered the grosgrain gather top on a whim with the promo last week in two colors, plum and alumnium. It's a nice top but I returned the alumnium color and kept the plum. Somewhat disappointed they left the edges on the button detail frayed. The plum color is lovely. Got measurements from the chat before ordering which was very helpful.

Last but not least is the Merino Cielo cardi which is very cute. I bought the pumpkin-ish in-store, size S, fit TTS if not slightly loose and comfy. Then I ordered the almond online with the promo last week and it's more fitted, especially in the arms. It fits fine, but the inconsistency really bugs me.

I am considering getting the Merino Boyfriend sweater -- anyone tried it/have it?? Thanks!

  38. Carnivore Girl, I tried the Merino & Mohair Shawl Collar cardi just yesterday - check out the pic on my blog.

  39. Can anyone compare the sizes in the toothpick cord to say, the skinny jeans at GAP? Or have any advice on them at all? I am love them, but can't try them on in the store.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Rose, I thought they do honor a price adjustment on full priced items. They have a written policy on their site. But I think it has to be with 7days from when it was bought in store or when it was shipped, if purchased online.

But you are right. The easiest thing to do is return the new purchase b/c you have up to 60days for returning unworn items. I'm ashamed to say I have quite a few things hanging in my closet w/ tags still attached, in the hope they will finally go on sale. Though, I'm still happy w/ them if they don't.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks, Rose!

Do you recommend sizing down? I saw that you tried on a smaller size. If it's going to be run large and bulky, then I'm sized out of this one.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I ordered the following items last week after I fell in love with the nordic blue color.

Stadium-Cloth Peacoat, petite 0, nordic blue
I hesitantly ordered this in a P0. (My usual size P2 was out of stock at the time.) The coat fit perfectly and did not have a boxy appearance. The color is darker and more of a teal (blue-green) in person but it is still beautiful. The cloth was much softer that I had expected.

Double-Serge Pencil Skirt, petite 2, nordic blue
I adore JC pencil skirts and this did not disappoint. The wool is a lighter shade of nordic blue than the coat. I'm 5'2'' and the petite hit right below the knee and fit TTS.

Zip-side foil sweatshirt, XS, (now on sale for $39.99)
I am a sparkle addict so I had to have the foil sweatshirt. I was afraid that the foil might be too busy but it looks great paired with jeans. The sweatshirt (even the foiled front) is very soft. I'm glad I ordered the XS since the sizing does appear to run big. JC is one of the only stores where I wear an XS instead of S. If you are uncomfortable with your stomach I would be wary of this piece since the shine will bring attention to that area.

  43. Think about what you post. It's a public blog and it is believed that corporate reads at least from time to time.

  44. Gigi, in a recent magazine article, Dear Leader said they do just that!

  45. Grosgrain gather top - got this on promo. Very beautiful top and it is fully lined. I got the aluminum color and really like it. Also agree with Lia that the fraying around the button is an issue though. I cut some of the loose frays off. I ordered my normal size in petite and it hit right at my hip.

Wool benny blazer. Also got this when it was on promo. Not sure if I will keep this. Only the sleeves are lined but that's ok with me and the material is pretty comfy. I ordered it in my normal P size. Sleeves and shoulders could be tight for some but there is stretch. Not sure if the cut works for me and the back seems to make my behald look bigger.

    ReplyDelete
  46. kitmommy,

I agree with you. I think it is just varies in sizes from piece to piece and how each was cute depending on how high the fabric was stacked when cutting, etc.

I have 3 eden jackets from last fall. all size 10. The arms in the navy blue one are definitely WIDER by far than the other two. I never measured but I think I will now! Just for the heck of it. I doesn't bother me much b/c with the darker color you cannot tell that much.

  48. Speaking of being careful what you post about...I just found an email that looks like spam (but not noted as such) from a person by the name of Gladys Moniba, saying she found my profiles (plural?!) on this site. Her email address was included, saying that she would send "more about herself". Anyone out there know this person or get a similar email?

  49. Was I the store doing retunrs - "select" sweaters are 20% wasn't interested enough to investigate. Took a glamce through the sale section: Riminis are all $59.99, Paris tee is $24.99, jodphur pants were $49.99, that sweater with the ribbon trim was $59.99(?), sequin belt is $19.99. Speaking of, I wanted the sequin belt but it has sequins from end to end. How do you tie it?

So, I was chatting with the very friendly hipster-ish sa (not my normal store - btw, no attitude or anything about my return - please pay attention to this, corporate) and SHE -not I- started talking about how she and her co-workers were talking about all the same things we do here. Namely, how much JCrew had changed even since she started working for them and how they were looking through old catalogs with nostalgia. (If I hadn't been in a rush, I would have begged her to let me see too!) She went on about departure for classic and preppy, ruffles and sequins on everything, Jenna overexposure and the fact she designs for herself, and the beautiful jewelry they used to offer. Then another sa joined in and said exactly what i have thought so often: how she wished she had bought more of the old jewelry and how she didn't because it seemed too big and loud at the time. I had a giggle at that. Nice to know, though, that there were non-JCAs who were like-minded.

  52. I climbed into the wayback machine this week, and I feel like sharing with the only peeps who will really understand. :-P

Finally, finally finally, after 2 years of searching high and low, the coveted paintbrush floral belle skirt is MINE ALL MINE! *throws confetti*

I found it purely by chance in last weeks 'for sale' post and almost fainted when I discovered it was still available. It arrived yesterday and it's just gorgeous. I'm so glad I took a chance on the size 6 because if I'd gone with my regular 8/10, I'd be swimming in it. So either it runs a little big or I'm wearing it higher on the waist than I'm supposed to be. No matter, I'm in love!

eBay brought me another oldie-but-goodie, a Crewlet Victoria blouse in the red/green (Cerise) floral pattern. I simply adore this print. People have been asking me all day long where I got my shirt. (I tell them it's extinct. :-P) It's an 8 and runs TTS. I never cared for the Victorias until I got some tissue ones on sale. Love that they have no evil side zip!

Selfishly, I also snatched up the original Crawford cami on eBay last week. Should be here any day. It's a 6 so it may or may not fit. We shall see.

Last but not least, I wanted to report that I visited my B&M at lunchtime and left without buying anything. Aren't you proud? :-P In and out in 15 mins, and that includes a fitting room visit. I tried again to convince myself that I liked the Minnies on me, but even at $29.99 I couldn't do it. They look like jodhpurs (?sp). Can't get past the pieced look of the pant legs.

    ReplyDelete
  53. itztru: I also received the same email. Weird.

JW: I tried on and bought the marled hoodie a while back--LOVE it. I'd say go with your regular size. I could have sized down, but would most likely want to wear a thin tee underneath as it's a tad itchy. You can see my pics here.

Ps....anyone else having trouble with Blogger today? I keep getting the "server error 504" message!

  54. Managed to get a navy Emmaleigh Superfine cotton dress on FS last week and road-tested to work today. This is a great dress - very flattering and work-appropriate, and in my tropical climate, I can wear it all year. Size 4 fit TTS everywhere except the bust, which was a bit gappy (but I think that is my issue, not theirs - a B or C cup would have filled this out perfectly!).

If the Super 120s version ever goes on sale, I'll jump in a heartbeat.

If anyone is wondering, denim Minnies are tighter and ride lower than the stretch twill version in the same size.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The marled shawl-collar cardi rings up $55.99 ($69.99 online) in store after 20% off. A little confused since I thought the 20% was only off full price but good for me.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I tried on both the moss tweed skirt and the notte tweed skirt and found them both TTS. I had been sizing down for about the last 9 months, but I found both of these skirts worked in the size I wear everywhere else. :)

  57. gem twin ITA on the pants fitting. I have taken three pairs of Waverly chinos into the dressing room all size 6 but with slightly different fits. The one pair I ordered online, the Midnight, the waist was bigger, so now I would rather only buy those in store.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Elaine, that is awesome! All of it :) So wonderful to get a coveted (especially discontinued) piece.

As far as sizing discrepancies, mass-produced clothing (yes, that's you, JCrew) is cut in huge stacks. In that step alone, there are often significant differences between something cut at the top of the stack and something from the bottom. Just another factor that makes ordering (and FS) so difficult. A 4 (or whatever) is not a 4 is not a 4.

Rose, thanks for the link to Gigi's review (and thanks, Gigi)! It seems like such an easy dress, but I'm uneasy at the thought of how it's going to look on me....

    ReplyDelete
  59. mommydearest - Be open to wearing a thin tank underneath so you can wear it unbuttoned. Or maybe a bandeau like you've been discussing, but the material is thin so a longer tank may work better. I wouldn't fret. $14.99.

  60. So the puffer vests that they've been doing for years now? I've bought one a year for the past couple of years either on promo or sale because I love the sherpa lining. They have a great color out now in the vest called dark cinnamon. I was going to place an order today, but never could get a look at the lining in zoom and the description didn't mention that is was sherpa lined. Taking advantage of the new chat feature, I learned it's just poly lined, no sherpa at all for the first time since I can recall. Dropped that from my cart instantly. I'm incredibly annoyed that they did away with the feature that made the vests so nice yet still price it out at $118. Forget that. In another attempt to cut costs, they've cut mine.

  61. The size discrepancies are definitely not in our heads. I bought a petal vine shell a month ago (24772) in a size four in white. I already owned the orchid shadow and the pink color. Well, the white came and the armpits and breasts were so tight I panicked and thought I gained that much weight. I tried on my already owned items, and they fit fine. This shirt was marked a size four. A size four it was not. So, I put another order in and returned it (even though final sale, sizing issues are a good reason IMO). The order I submitted on September 6th is STILL not here. An order I placed two days later got here yesterday. They did cancel a navy blue perfect fit tank, but what on EARTH is taking so long to release an order? Ridiculous. Those of you talking about cutting massive piles of clothes in factories make me tempted to reorder the Leigh cardi and see what I get. My oh my, J Crew shopping is resembling gambling more and more every day. Feels like Old Navy. "Those who please generally do not please profoundly". Can't remember who said it.

Heather--I wear puff vests almost every day for dog walking and got one that was sherpa lined last year at old navy. they usually have a big promo when they first come out (soon?) making them under 20 bucks!! I usually size down. Have one from the year before too and they wear like iron considering the price.

  63. Featherweight long sleeve cashmere cardi- wore mine for teh first time today. I have been buying J Crew cahsmere for the past 5 years, it slowly getting worse each yer. This one, however, did it for me. It pilled after 3 hrs not just badly, but horridly. EVERYWHERE- sleeves, under sleeves, on teh sides, on teh shoulders. It's a pill-galore , not a cardi anymore. I am just disgusted. Of course, it's FS and I have to go through the trouble to return it, so forget it, and SAs were so unpleasant today. One was very spiteful- she talked about return policy and was so righteous about the new policy. I just left , could not stand it- I knew I'd say something mean about it.
Bottom Line- stay away from featherweight cashmere- not worth it.I spend $48 on it, not much, but it's not worth even that.

  64. gem twin,
Thanks for that tip! I'm going to check it out online and try to swing by our store if they're out now. Those vests are perfect for our "winters" in TN. ;)

  67. I would love to take advantage of the sweater promo. Anyone able to offer a review of the following sweaters:

    Plaid Boyfriend Cardigan

    or

    Merino Boyfriend Sweatshirt

or the dark rosewood Jackie cardigan? Is the color more brown or purple IRL? How is the fabric on the Jackie this season?

Specifically whether they fit nicely and TTS, the knit is substantial, thin, itchy, etc. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I swung by the B&M, and they had crap compared to online. Is it me or do the JC sales ladies seem a little ignorant about the merch? I asked for few items by name, including the Arrow sweater, and they had no idea what I was talking about.

  69. it occurs to me we could all start mailing our stringy pilly cashmeres -- or the piles of fuzz -- directly back to Dear Leader. He is there for us 24/7 and wants to solve our problems. We just need to share.

Packages should go to His Excellency Millard Drexler,
J.Crew Group, 770 Broadway, New York, NY 10003.

Now that I have thought of this am kicking self for having returned a cashmere that was pilling before I even got it all unwrapped.

However, if there is a next time, I am prepared!

  72. XOXO,

I can tell you that the Plaid Boyfriend Cardi is awesome, it fits TTS, & is a medium thickness. I tried it in store a few weeks ago.

The Jakie in Rosewood was missing from my B&M today. I've seen that color before and it's like a raisin. Pretty dark purple or raisin. This cardi is thicker than the featherweights and fits TTS. Definitely quality compared to some of their other cardigans. Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Wolfy, thanks for your comments. I have a real weakness for plaid so have added the Plaid Boyfriend Cardigan to my cart. I think I'll go for the dark rosewood Jackie twinset as well, hoping it will work with my blushed tweed pencil skirt. And, I think I will succumb to the Arrow sweater jacket after reading so many raves about it. But I will watch out for dropped stitches, thanks gigiofca and others who have mentioned that.

The Merino Boyfriend Sweatshirt was a big hit in the spring, as I recall. Wondering if the fall version is just as good but haven't read many comments about it. Maybe it's already passe and the JCAs have moved on to other styles for fall.

    ReplyDelete
  74. re sales associates. I agree - I was in the B & M the other day and asked them if they had the Arrow jacket - 3 of them together didn't recognize the name, and then I had to show them in the catalog. I was really surprised, since it's getting so much love on blogs

    ReplyDelete
  75. XOXO,

I'm sorry, I do have the Merino Boyfriend Sweatshirt in bronzed twig. Frankly it's not my favorite purchase. I even bought at a B&M and still don't really <3. It's pretty loose and droopy. Not very figure flattering and you need a a thick strapped cami under to hid the bra.

I would advise against it, unless you are just looking for a kick around sweats on the weekend. Then again, you could dress it up with a button down underneath, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  76. XOXO,

One more thing, the Plaid Cardi is a little looser than say the Jacki. The slouchy fit is the style with this cardi. The Jacki is definitely more fitted. Still, I would get my regular size in both.

    Julie,

The sales ladies are clueless, they never no the names of poplar items or colors. I guess they just work for JC and aren't really interested (obsessed) like some of the other fan girls.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Lol, WFF- if I could write as well as you are I'd totally be putting a note with a sweater to Mr. D.:)

    ReplyDelete
  78. AppGal, thanks for mentioning the itch factor on the marled hoodie. I have last year's Donegal shawl cardigan in heather rosewood and heather carbon so wasn't interested in this season's marled cardi but I was considering the hoodie once it went on sale. Given there is an itch factor I will definitely pass. I cannot stand itchy sweaters and they get tossed after the first wearing. It's crazy though, last year's Donegal wool/mohair/angora blend does not cause me to itch at all. For whatever reason it is just super soft and comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wolfy, thanks again! I took the Merino Boyfriend Sweatshirt out of my cart. I'm busty but have a small waist (size 8/10 on top and 4/6 on the bottom). I don't want any loose, droopy sweaters. I usually have enough room around the waist as it is.

I am between a M and L in the Jackie's due to the bust sizing and usually go with the M but have to pin it underneath to stop it from gaping. Unfortunately the L is too floppy around the waist so I have to make do with the M and the pins. With that in mind I think the M in the Plaid Boyfriend Cardigan would be fine. Probably will fit me well given the v-neckline, as it tends to be more forgiving. I bought M in the bling-button cardis this summer and the fit was fantastic.

Thank you so much for your advice and comments on the sweaters! Much appreciated. :D

  80. One last question. On the Arrow sweater jacket are there buttons or a button that would let you close the collar so it's like a funnel-neck sweater? I don't see button holes on the product page, but as we all know, that doesn't mean they aren't there, they may just be photoshopped out.

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Saw a new 3/4 sleeve taupe crewneck Dream cardigan with embellishments today that I didn't see last Thursday. I took some pics on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  82. XOXO,

There are no buttons to close up the neck of the Arrow sweater. I thought it would also, and checked it out in person today. The lapel is just a style piece and doesn't have a lot of function.

    ReplyDelete
  83. By the way, has anyone successfully ordered the tan (Heather Driftwood) color of the Heathered Lumiere Ruffle Cardigan online? The picture seems to show an entirely different color, which is confusing. So is the actual product the color shown or the color named?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Lia,

The Merino BF sweater fits TTS. I am normally an XS in JC sweaters. The XS of the boyfriend sweater fits, although it is relatively fitted in the sleeves. I sized up to a S for a little more slouchiness. The one I own is from the first batch in the spring, but I just tried on the new version today in the store and the fit is pretty similar. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Irl pics of sweaters are reviewed in this post on my blog.

I don't fault the SAs for not knowing product names. Most of them probably leave work at work and go on w/their lives. The merch moves faster for them than it does for us. Also, the products ring up as different names than they are on the the web or in the catalog. The Bridget dress, for example, had a different name on the store signage and rang up as something else this past spring/summer.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Second what Gigi ways re: sales assnt not knowing product names. IE at Anthro, items have memorable names, but in the store they are just skew #, even customer service asks for item #. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  87. XOXO, I have the merino sweatshirt in the carbon and really love it. It looks great with a pencil skirt or slim jeans and the open neckline is very flattering. I am very narrow shouldered and got my usually size small so it would be a little slouchy and have no problem with seeing my bra straps. I did try the xs and it was adorable too, but just a different look as it was more like a regular sweater.

Too each her own, but I think this is a great piece.

    Slastena,

I would definitly send the sweater to Mickey. These $48 purchases add up and I would not let some snippy little SA's from letting me make a reasonable complaint.

    ReplyDelete
  88. And speaking of cashmere, sorry, but I do have to share a little Talbots love.

I ordered the charmeuse ruffled cami and the grey mist cashmere v-neck and have to rave about both.

The sweater is actually pretty well shaped and not boxy and the cashmere is very nice. I purchased the cami because I needed something more plain than J Crew's offerings to wear under some heavily ruffled J Crew sweaters. The silk is a nice weight and drapes well and the little buttons are sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Re: The "itch factor" in the marled hoodie...it's not unbearable, but in the time I had it on in the dressing room, I had a few twinges of slight itch. I liked the look so much, though, that I bought it anyway (in the looser of the two sizes so I could wear a tee underneath).

xoxo: I also love the Merino boyfriend sweatshirt. I got it in the honey color last spring and it is surprisingly versatile.

    ReplyDelete
  90. kitsmommy and AppGal, thanks for weighing in on the merino sweatshirt. I'm shaped like an inverted triangle so it might not work as well for me. I have to buy tops big enough to accomodate my bust and being small everywhere else I often have to have items brought in at the waist. So if it is slouchy or has a boat-neck look it probably won't be flattering on me. I'm going to ask my PS for measurements and see what she says.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Totally true on the product names. The necklace known online as Crystal Patterns was called "Margaret" when I purchased it in the store. No idea why they would do that.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yeah, and the product names on the bags when you order online are often not the same. My new favorite was the Betsy dot cami - it came in a bag marked with a label that said "Pleats Meet Cami". Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Has anyone tried on the wooley henley? I think it would be really functional but am worried it could be very boxy or too thin/sheer.

    ReplyDelete
  94. JC needs to have a 14 day price adjustment policy. I got the Crystal Steps necklace a bit over a week ago during the in-store 25% off case jewelry promo. Now it's on Final Sale for $69.99.

I'm just going to return it since it's quite heavy and too blingy (I got the clear one and it's really bright) for me to get much wear day to day. Definitely nice art deco style but unless it's for a special occasion which doesn't happen much for me with two little kids its going to be sitting in my jewelry box. Btw, you can also adjust the length it hangs since it has few rings you can put the clasp on.

So, I ordered three bikini tops from FS since they were $10 each. All three fit differently. A size 4 french top fits small as my girls are over flowing, another top in size small is also small for my cups and the other one in my actual size 34B is big overall. What do I make of this?! No more messing with final sale. ;-/

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yeah, beware of the cup sizes. They run big. I wear a 34D in real bra size, but a 34D at J.Crew is HUGE!!!!!!! a 34C actually fits pretty well. So I had to go down an entire cup size to get a good fit. And the cup sizes differ from style to style. The D cup tops with the underwire seem to be smaller than say the D cup bandeau tops.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Oh and the numbered tops run tiny. For a 34D I have to order a 10 or 12, when I wear a 4 or 6 in clothing. And a large in the S/M/L tops, when I wear a small in clothing.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Okay, see ya'll's point that it may not be the SA's fault for not knowing all the online/instore names & colors. However, I often get the cold shoulder or the side eye when I specifically ask about an item and they have no clue what I'm talking about. As if I some crazy & annoying Jcrew fan girl. Mind you, I never make a big deal if they don't have amplifying info,. But I do find it ridiculous when they don't know if they even have extra stock in the back. Such a simple question like "Do you have this in my size or such color", should not be a big deal.

In regards to the Merino Boyfriend Sweater, indeed to each their own. It's not that hate the sweater, since I own it, but it's definitely my most frumpy item in my closet for my body shape.

I'm size D and a bit pear shaped. I like fitted or flattering items to accentuate my waist compared to my hips. I've noticed that a lot of ladies & bloggers here are of the petite statue, and I am not. I'm 5'7 & a size 12.
    Thanks

  98. I reviewed a few items with IRL pics in today's post here, including the plaid boyfriend cardi, lumiere cardi, C'est Bon tee, Rimini in nutmeg, etc.

I picked up a few sale sweaters yesterday, but did not get the extra 20% off, fyi.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I'm wearing my denim Minnies for the first time since getting them on 30% off sale along w/the Coralie Cami in the mushroom color also purchased at same sale. The Minnies are definitely a little more snug than my black Minnies that I bought last fall. Hoping the denim is going to give a little bit. I really like the Coralie cami despite it having the horrible side zip. I was worried I wouldn't like it but it lays very nice and isn't too boxy.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Grr, you guys are selling me on that Lumiere' cardigan! Shopwithm, it looks completely adorable on you! Does it shed all over your shirt?

On the slub cotton tees, are they substantial? I like that the new Bon tee is a crewneck, my chest gets chilly so I'm not a v neck tee fan.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Re cup sizes, i wonder if some of the confusion is due to bra makers that vanity size in the opposite direction? For most of my life I've been a 32 or 34 B. I always get my bras at VS, and For the last five years or so ive needed a C, and I just chalked it up to crazed hormones. I tried on a bra at Nordstrom and I was back in a B. I think VS was using the vanity trick.

    ReplyDelete
  102. FYI, I ordered the Crystal Steps necklace in the Black Diamond and was told it has a dark green cast to it. I think that will be pretty but if you were pondering it as a dark grey, just a heads up.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Thanks for the Merino Boyfriend Sweatshirt comments ladies! You convinced me and I ordered it in black :) I think it will look cute tucked in or out of pencil skirts. Can't wait!

While I was debating, I also had the Merino Whisper Ruffle sweater in dark raisin in my cart (have it in the natural color and I really like it, definitely worth $50 IMO) and then all of a sudden it was sold out! The other color I love is the wild plum so I snatched that up but it was showing as only 2 available and now that color is gone too. Just a heads up if you were thinking about this one! I ordered size XS.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I didn't care for the lumiere in the store, but it looks really cute on shopwithm, hmmmm. i felt it and immediately thought it would be itchy for me. It really isn't itchy?

I finally did send back my linen silk pocket cardi. I usually return to store, but was so disgusted by how it wore, I sent it back with a letter. $48 toward something else, I hope.

I want to bite on the rimini bad today, but then I wonder if tonight there will be a 20 or 30 percent off promo. What do you guys think?

    ReplyDelete
  105. I have been to 4 -- count 'em! 4! -- JC stores in the last 72 hours and I think I've seen just about every item there is to see :)

Walked away with a boatload of goodies for fall/winter:

Drea merino wool dress -- I loved this on, it is adorable and will be perfect with leggings and boots. Too short IMO to be a "dress", but it's certainly a tunic. Also not itchy, which I worried about. I had my eye on this one for a while and I'm so glad it didn't disappoint.

Infinity cardigan in Blossom -- on sale for $59.99 online but I got mine for $29.99 in store. I still like this colour with charcoal for fall...

Calista ruffled cardigan in charcoal -- this one is Pima cotton and I liked it way better than the similar Traversa cardi, which gave me unwanted bulk the way the curved ruffles hit my mid-section.

Jackie cardi in Wild Mushroom -- love this colour IRL, it has a drop of pink in it that prevents it from being too brown. Love.

Tweed mini-skirt -- not online yet, but I know it's in the October catalogue...the multi-coloured one (shots of turquoise, pink, black, with metallic threads) with the exposed zip pockets. Ok...I know it's VERY short, but I sized up and there's an inch hem that can be let down (which I plan to do). I just couldn't pass up the beautiful tweed!

A really cute t-shirt that may be retail-only...pale pink with a black bicycle on it, some minor beading, but it's really sweet. They also had an off-white one that reads "C'est Bon", didn't buy that one but it's very cute as well.

Selvedge Chambray shirt -- I have been ready to buy this for about a year and was happy to see it in-store that I could try on. It runs quite big...I'm a 2 in the perfect shirt and took an XS in this one and it's still a bit roomy. A few of the SAs were wearing it and I really loved how versatile it is.

Lodge Puffery Vest in warm taupe -- I have one of the sherpa-lined vests from 2 years ago which I love, but this new version is so damn cute! I took my usual size. I liked that it wasn't lined and therefore not too hot over a sweater (I often get way overheated in my sherpa vest if I have to go indoors, like the mall, for any length of time). THe colour is beautiful, less pink IRL than it shows on the site, a bit more taupe IMO.

Tomboy plaid shirt in light plum -- very soft, nicely cut, maybe a smidge roomier than the Perfect Shirts. I took my usual size 2. It will look fab with the puffer vest :)

I tried on a million things that I did not buy, among them:

Lumiere Cardi -- it is a beautiful piece, but a bit itchy, a bit too see-through for me, and I worried about snags and shedding. It seems very fragile.

Minnies in glen plaid -- love the idea, love the fabric, love the cut, but the cut does not love me, sadly. I personally did not find them itchy, as some JCAs have mentioned.

Flannel getaway tunic -- super cute, but it did not make the cut for me. Very soft, good weight, not too bulky.

Moss Tweed pencil skirt -- I'm still wondering whether I should have bought this one. It's gorgeous, so soft and lovely colours. But I never wear blue and I couldn't think of anything in my closet that would go with it except black. But it was the nicest new pencil skirt of the season IMO. Fits TTS.

Donegal tweed pencil skirt -- also lovely, but I have too much grey in my wardrobe already. Fits TTS.

Notte Tweed pencil skirt -- another pretty one, and an excellent alternative to plain black. Fits TTS.

I'm sure there's more, but this is all I can remember right now. I have JC exhaustion!

  106. Chelsea, I tried the wooly henley last weekend when I saw it in my B&M. It was *very* sheer/thin and had a nubby quality to it (I like the nubby texture, but I don't think it would wear well AT ALL - I'm picturing some major pilling). I also tried the lumiere cardi (mohair) in the same visit and it was no where near as itchy as the wooly henley. It was a pass for me. :(

    ReplyDelete
  107. socialscientis, I have the lumiere in the heathered driftwood and the color is the one shown in the little color box (=a beautiful caramel, NOT the lighter color that the model is wearing) HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Ema - Thanks! Did you order it online? If so I'll def try to get mine online.

Clicquot - How do we see the October catalog? Is it online anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  109. socialscientist, I got mine ins tore but I promise it's the same color ;-).

I goot the new catalog in store today (haven't looked at it yet) but it is probably going to be online tomorrow with the new arrivals.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Ema - Ah I didn't see that they fixed the color swatch for Heather Driftwood (previously it also showed an ivory color) online. Wonderful. I asked a PS online about this yesterday so maybe they noticed the mistake and fixed it! And maybe I'll have to head into the store and check out the new catalog!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Just wanted to echo some previous posts about the lumiere cardigan. I bought it in coal. And I just adore it!!! As soon as I tried it on in the store I knew it was a must-have piece. I normally don't buy the J Crew ruffled cardigans - was getting tired of ruffles. But this one has a beautiful - and luminous - yarn. It looks mysterious and parisienne if I may. This particular color is on sale for $71 on line now.

  112. I need help ladies! I'm debating on the Cupro Elan trouser, but the smallest size on the site is a 2 and I generally wear a 0 in bottoms. Does anyone know if these fit TTS, big, small, or could I get away with a 2 if I wear a belt?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Clicquot, very insightful and descriptive post, thank you! Your description of the wild mushroom color is spot-on for why it's irresistible.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I just assumed the October catalogue was out in the US (I'm in Canada); I picked mine up at the East Hampton store, but now that I think about it, the other three stores I visited still had the Sept catalogue.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Claire - I have the elan in the super 120s and in the stretch wool. Unless you have some stuff in your trunk to fill them out, I don't think you should size up. They have a drapey fit and it's noticeable. I think it would be exaggerated if you're in the wrong size. I usually wear a 6 and that's what I got based on the measurements. I *do* wonder if I should have the 4 instead because of the drape. A belt helps a bit, but the drape is still there in the front. If I were to drop weight, I might be swimming a bit in the pants. Irl pics of the stretch wool elan in this post.

Waiting on the Cupros to arrive in the mail & hoping the 6 is good on them and no bigger than the elans I have. I didn't like the stretch flannel elan, for the record.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Thanks Gigi! The size zero in the navy popped back this morning, crossing my fingers that they ship!
I have the stretch flannel Elan in a 4 (but I had a little more stuff in my trunk and hadn't quite figured out J. Crew sizing when I bought them) and I don't really care for them either.

  117. can anyone comment on the MacAlister wedge boot?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hi Lizzy - check the August 10th reviews thread, I know Elizabeth and Leslie both raved about them.

Stores have a dried parsley Jackie cardigan - love the color, don't love that the inside is already "faded". I wonder if that's an indicator of what the outside will soon look like.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Lizzy to say I love the MacAlister Wedge Boot is an understatement. I could write an ode to them. They are cute, bouncy when you walk, lift you up three inches while still looking casual and comfortable and look great with straight leg jeans, waverly chinos and bootcut cords. I have them in the Nut and the Dark Pewter. For me, I'm getting more wear from the Nut color. Love them and think J. Crew should just make them a basic they carry. They are my favorite JC item this fall, even if the bar is lower with all the unlined jackets.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Silver Lining - I have been eyeing the Jackie cardi in dried parsley as well. I did not bite even with yesterday's 20% off sweaters promo bc I was worried about fading. I've been waiting for some JCA feedback. I love the dried parsley so much that I would be very disappointed if it did not hold up well. I did get the dark rosewood as a test so we'll see how that color holds up.

  121. Elaine, so glad you got the paintbrush belle! I know the seller who put it on the exchange, I told her it would sell quickly. After a long search I found it on ebay in my size and I love love love it. I would love to hear how you are planning to wear yours.

  122. I just received several items from J. Crew and have tried them on. (These are a mix of full-price, FS, and regular sale items.)

Double-serge pencil skirt: I just received the vintage wisteria and already have the pearl grey, both in size 4. Re the double-serge pencil skirt thread: I think that these 4's maybe slightly smaller than my size 4 from last fall/winter, but seem longer. This skirt has to be one of my all-time favorite items from J. Crew.

Woolen twill Minnie pant: (I do hope that someone from J. Crew is reading this in particular.) This pant is not lined. I could not believe my eyes. The wool isn't fine or anything, like Ann Taylor's tropical wool separates, so they are a bit itchy and kind of shapeless... like dressy pajama pants. The wool seems rather stretchy to me (maybe they just meant no spandex or lycra), so I'm guessing these would become quite misshapen with wear. (An "of-the-moment fit" they say... that's a positive spin.) Lining them in acetate or something NOT stretchy would have been a good move. These minnies are definitely going back.

Marled Hoodie: I can see how this sweater might be considered itchy, but I've seen much worse. It's about as itchy as those woolen twill minnies. I plan to wear this with something under. The sweater fits very much as intended (judging from the promotional photos with the model) in an S, which is TTS for me.

Pippy top in in the Dark Rosewood: I have this in the light melon color (forget what that was called, and they are no longer on the website), and both are beautiful. This blouse seems a little more flowing than the Kelsey top or the Victoria top, which I also have. Not fitted at all.

Stretch twill Minnie pant in British khaki: When J. Crew said that this pant looks great on everyone, I think they meant the dark colors. I'm okay with some of the legging-looking pants, but these look like khaki leggings, which is simply awful on me. Unless you're a skinny-leg body-type, stay away from these in the British khaki.

Bi-stretch wool Minnie pant: I should have realized from the way these fit the model that the (lower) leg is cut very, very tiny. I can't even tell you how these fit because I could not get them around my calf muscles.

(The only good experiences I've had with the minnie are the italian wool and the stretch twill in the dark blue. But I love those cropped styles... so I'll probably keep trying the new minnie styles like the glutton for punishment that I am.)

In a previous order I also received the jacquard dot pencil skirt on FS, which is very snug in a 4. So snug, in fact, that I will try to sell this one and get one in a size 6. It's a crying shame because the skirt is truly stunning. I don't have it in front of me, but can post the measurements if anyone needs them. (same for the other items, in fact).

    ReplyDelete
  123. I bought twill minnies without trying today. I know my size and have other pairs...anyway, when I tried at home, one leg seemed longer... and it IS longer.
More than 1/2 inch...how could these pass the inspection?
Ladies, when you buy pants, make sure the legs are the same length.
(I'm not trying to be negative. I shop 90% J Crew)

  124. OK, a post-wash review of my new JC items. I washed everything in lingerie bags and cold water, regular cycle, line dry. Perfect shirt, still perfect, burnt orange colour didn't fade. Bettina camis, no shrinkage or fading, trims are still all attached (dried them upside down with clips, so ruffles popped right "up"), pain to iron though (or maybe it's just my board). Beaton popover, no shrinkage, collar stayed in shape (that was my fear from first try on last month), now wanting it in blue.

Am I OCD when it comes to laundering my precious clothes? You bet! ;)

  125. Any comments on the Merino Cielo cardigan? Size/quality/etc? Also, this is going to sound crazy, but if anyone owns or has tried this sweater on, any thoughts as to whether the chiffon trim would be easy to cut off or otherwise remove without making the whole thing look bad? I am in LOVE with the caramel color, but don't like the chiffon trim. Thanks!

  126. I was just at my B&M to make a return, and noticed an in store only color of the wool double serge pencil skirt. It looked identical to last year's "fresh plum" perfect pencil skirt. Very pretty color! Just wanted to pass that along for anyone who doesn't live near a B&M but missed out on that color last year.

  127. I have the Merino Cielo cardigan in the charcoal and the sweet almond. I wouldn't know how to trim the chiffon off without wrecking the sweater but on this one, I like the chiffon. I like the fit, everything. I was surprised it was marked down so quickly, I think it's a good one and wouldn't hesitate to get another color.

  128. MDPA - I have irl pics of the merino cielo in this post. You can tuck the ruffle trim in around the neck, except that tactic doesn't work at the placket. The chiffon will still show thru. My experience in sewing consists of using a seam ripper, sewing buttons and using my Brother exactly once to make a little curtain for my laundry room w/the help of a friend. So consider that when I saw you probably want to just trim the chiffon out and don't take a seam ripper to it. It's sewn it pretty well. I think you can trim really close and get it off.

  129. Why is the merino popover (24724) back up to fp? The price jumping does not inspire confidence.

In other news, the new merino ruffle moto sweater is really, really cute in person and on.

  130. Gigi-the first roll-out of merino popover's went to FS. At some point they had a new roll-out of them in more colors at full price. I have to say this has been one of my fav items this year. They were almost completely sold out not too long ago.

  134. IRL - Thanks for the info. I saw the new ones as well. The lightest 2 colors in the 1st release were down to $29.99 this week. Now that I checked again, they have updated all of the info to reflect all being available again and all at fp. I think there is price jumping. But I guess sometimes the issue is we see them in between updates, which, apparently take long periods of time due to the info being processed. I know little about tech & v.loosely repeating something I read here. Maybe it was you that said it, but I can't recall. What I know for sure is that they need a better website. I shouldn't have to dump my cart to make an order for a few items. They need a wishlist feature, among many other tweaks.

  135. Has anyone seen IRL or purchased the Colletta coat? Thinking about it but it's not available in stores here and I was wondering about the quality and just how thick/heavy it is.

Also, as someone who needs "Tall" sizing, what's up with no talls in factory??! To me, that points to factory items being reproductions, vs. late season sale.

  136. HCLeak11 - The items in are all made for the factory. I can't say I've ever seen a store markdown at the factory store. They are repros from a year prior. No petites there either, so I feel your pain. ;-) It makes a huge difference in pants.

  137. Received the Spritzer Stripe Satchel in Pale Lilac today (final sale w/the 30% off - total was a mere $91!). This is a bag I was interested in when it came out, but not interested in paying full price for!

So the color... well, it's weird. So weird that it won't match anything, which makes carrying it pretty easy - carry it with anything! As far as describing the color, I'd say it's not quite lilac, it's not quite gray. It's this strange, lovely shade of almost purple tinged smoke. The stripes are very neon pinky/orange.

This is a large satchel - certainly an eye catcher. To sum this up: this is a goofy bag. I have a lot of other bags, so I'm happy with it. But I'd be a bit freaked out if I was looking for a quiet, signature bag that didn't call attention to itself. This one's a screamer - and not quite in a good way!

  138. Coddington suede platform pumps in black. They fit true to size, were comfortable, and elegant. They made my legs look miles long (and they are far from it). Decided not to purchase at the last minute, as they were priced at $198.
