J.Crew Email: EXTRA 20% OFF final sale, exclusively online

"Thanks!" to many of you who shared an email sent by J.Crew this morning.

As mentioned in Monday's "Darlings, is it time for a coupon code? {20% off f..." post, the email let's us know that J.Crew is offering 20% off Final Sale and free shipping on:
  • $100+ with code SHOPCREW
  • $125+ with code TREAT
  • $150+ with code OURTREAT
  • $175+ with code LOVECREW
All of these offers expire 9/30/10.

What is interesting about this email is that they still don't let you know about the actual code (and what the minimum is) until you visit their JCrew.com site.

Another thing that I find odd is that they are sending this email now. This promotion has been going on since Monday. They are just letting customers know about it?!? Even on Monday, only a few customers got to see the promotional code on their screen. (I was not one of them. In fact, I couldn't see one until Tuesday.) Is it because so many blogs like this one, have already published them publicly? (Side note: I love how helpful the JCAs are to share with each other these codes!)

In any case, I am happy about the promotion itself. (And it's clearly working as inventory levels are low.) Now the sale section needs a proper update and I am all set. :)

What are your thoughts on this latest promotion? Do you think its sneaky or perfectly fair? Did you take advantage of the extra 20% off? If so, what did you get? :)

  1. I was browsing after 12 am last night and I noticed that they had changed the final sale screen. I think that the different codes are a glitch and they want to make it appear as it is their idea so they came up with this, otherwise they would have put up the new screen and sent the email the first day of the promo. I mean, it is silly to have a promotion and try to hide it from the customers!

I will wait until tomorrow to see if they update the selection. I am also waiting for a fs item that I already ordered twice and never showed up (they sent me the wrong item), so I will wait to see if this time they got it right before buying something else from fs. I am a little bit bummed that we can't use the free shipping codes on factory items because I would probably place an order and throw in something, but they expire before saturday. I don't think that this weekend only thing is actually helping sales...

  2. FS question - I called cs and he said he placed a note on my order that I can return the entire thing bc I found a defect in one of the items. So is the instore SA going to determine if it is a defect or are they going to refund me regardless? I mean, is it up to the store associate to decide if they will in fact take it back?
I have never done this. Is this going to be a painful experience?

  4. Yes, I agree that the webpage now showing the 20% off code (or one of them) is odd. Slim pickings right now, though in the sale section.

  5. I'm ashamed... I drank the Crewlade twice this week. No huge orders, just a few random things. So much for trying to clean out my closet... I'll never learn!

  6. All of the different free shipping codes are confusing and everytime I visit the site a different code and minimum amount is at the top of my screen.

  7. The codes are indeed strange- why do they need all these free shipping codes at different prices points? If it is because of the blogging community, then it's amazing that we're having such an impact. And we have you to thank for that, Alexis!

Now...if we could only use our blogging power to bring about world peace...

  8. Ashamed to say I bit two times this week. I was planning on a third had there been a big update this a.m.

  9. A...I have had this happen now several times with FS merchandise. I let the in store SA know that CS should have released the final sale restriction, they always have, and I'm on my way. If they ask if something is wrong, then you can tell them, but I've returned many FS items because the color was mis-represented or for fit. Once they release the restriction, you should be good to go without any questions.

  10. Their email should say " Little Style. Big Price".

There should be some truth in advertisment these days...ACT NOW!

  11. Almost bit because I have a free ship no min. code from a while back that I still haven't used...but I can't use that AND get the 20%. Grr...

  12. This is off topic, but BEWARE OF FAUX FUR on Ebay!! I really like the look of JCrew's Mongolian lamb purse, but I don't want animals be harmed for a bag. So I tried to find a substitute and ordered a white faux fur purse on Ebay. It turned out to be made of bird feathers! With obvious stained feather parts sticking out of it and even dirt that's probably bird feces. I felt absolutely terrible!! I might end up having to file a claim for it since they said no return.

  13. The bettina cami sold out in the color I wanted (spicy russet) but I guess that's what I get for waiting for an additional % off of the already low price of $19.99. I ended up only picking up the breezy dot tie-front tank in navy, which is entirely impractical for this time of year. However, I had wanted it since it first came out so now that it's on sale I took the plunge.

  14. I just purchased a few things today, the Anouk dress for me and a few crewcuts items. I made the $100 and used the SHOPCREW code.

Funny thing, yesterday I could see the $100+ SHOPCREW code, but today $150+ OURTREAT showed up...I really dislike when they play games like that.

  15. AppGal,
No I realized yesterday you cannot use both so I used the free ship. I only wanted about $60 in items and it is nice NOT to have to spend more more than I wanted to in order to get the free ship. Yeah, no extra % off but I don't care as I really saved $40 by not buying into the need to spend more to save more gimmick.

  16. My son had another doctor appointment in Tampa yesterday so we stopped by the J.Crew there afterwards. I tried on the Drapey Bateau tee in the Navy/White and it's super cute. I have consistently been wearing an XSmall in the tees at J.Crew, but the Small actually fit better on this one, especially through the shoulders. In the sale section: the Waxed Utility Jacket was marked down to $59.99, the Paisley Flouncette blouse is now $29.99, and the Long Benny Blazer is marked down to $69.99 (if I remember correctly.

As for the online promo, I haven't taken advantage of it.

  17. I made a purchase this morning from home and the shopcrew code was up and now I'm checking at work and it's treat. And I didn't see the 20% off all week at home until today...I've been waiting. I wonder how they are doing this.

I picked up a few basics (and maybe a few I didn't absolutely need) but they add up so I made the $100 min.

  18. Haven't taken advantage of the promo (yet) but love that there are different price point codes simply for choice.

BIG Thanks to Alexis for posting all the various codes and saving us mucho tiempo (y dinero :)

  19. BTW, there's a great SA at the Fair Oaks mall in Fairfax, VA. I never get her name but she's tall, blonde and always soooo helpful. I've made several returns there and she's always so nice & helpful. We're both tall so we dish about what works for us.

  20. It makes no sense to have so many codes as SHOPCREW cancels all the others -- for those who check this blog first, and who doesn't? :)

I didn't bite. Final Sale is not worth the risk.

  21. No final sale even with extra % off for me. I'm on a no JC diet until the white card (Mickey card) promo is over. It's kind of liberating! ;-)

@A: The CS rep should put a note on your order to allow the FS return and when the SA at B&M scans your online invoice he/she is able to see the note on your particular order. It should be no problem. HTH.

  22. For those of you who shopped, I don't blame you. Some of the prices are too good to pass up (hello pretty Betina Camis!) :)

A: Just like the other JCAs mentioned, if the note is placed on your order, the store associate will be able to read it on her cash register. So you shouldn't encounter any issues. :)

As for posting all four codes... there is a reason why I do it even though it makes the codes section super long. One, so we are all aware that there are different codes available. Especially since some of us only see certain codes and not others. Two, every once in awhile a code might not work for one JCA even though it will work for others. In the rare case this happens (and it oddly enough does), JCAs have back-up codes to use. :)

  24. Alexis, I didn't know sometimes some codes don't work for some online shoppers. In that case I think the shopper should be able to straighten that out with CS.

What JC is doing right now is very close to price discrimination.

  25. Fellow JCAs, do we know if there will be an online update of new arrivals tomorrow?? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Kinda pointless to send the email when it's been going on since Monday & there hasn't been any updates to the sale. But isn't that how it always goes?

First off, they need to stop posting sale items only according to EST and they also need to make multiple updates to the sale. If that happened then I might bite. There is really not much left at this point, until they update their inventory.

  27. There was a small update this morning. I thought Wednesday was the day they usually did the large update but who knows anymore? They may be leaving more items in the B&Ms hoping that people with the 25% off cards will buy them and they won't need to ship them back to the warehouse.

Anyone know when the next rollout will be online? I know it's just October on Friday but I am looking forward to Holiday styles already.

    ReplyDelete
  28. xoxo- I was in yesterday and my SA said there will be new items in at the end of this week... I don't know if it will be holiday yet though.

i bought too many things in store, so i will be avoiding this promo.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I heard today, this rollout is a small one, not the holiday one. The one in November is the big rollout.

  30. I'm so confused about JC's site...I was just goofing around and fount the lumiere ruffle cardi in both papaya and heather sandstone for the $49.99 price. I look up something else on the web, try to come back to the cardi through google and it then only shows the heather driftwood as being available...ohhh-kaaay..can't find the papaya at all.

To top it off, I was at my local b&m today and they have the coal version (online still at full price) for $49.99 in store. Huh?

  31. No FS for me, in fact, shopping ban is in effect till Christmas (gulp). Checked out the supposed roll out, really can't tell which pieces are "new" vs. "new new". On a separate note, FINALLY got my catalog. No promo code. Boohoo. Better for my shopping ban, I guess.

  32. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to who gets what code. I was seeing the $175 minimum for free shipping. So I logged out of my account, cleared the cookies on my browser, refreshed the page and now it's free shipping at $100. Weird. Weird. Weird.
