As many of you have pointed out (throughout the blog), J.Crew's website has been experiencing "some technical difficulties" today- the site is either completely down or running very slowly during the moments it is "up and running".
Hopefully J.Crew's site won't be having any more issues for the rest of this Cyber Monday. :) Also, I know this sounds weird... but I am happy that they changed the "be back soon..." image to read "stay tuned...". ;)
Incidentally, Anon at 11:57 AM (in this post) and RatsOnParade (in this post) pointed out that the websites for the Gap and Banana Republic were down earlier today too. (Hopefully this is just a weird coincidence among some retailer's websites.) :)
If you are interested, there is an article about today's website issues: J.Crew, Bloomie's Get Cyber Monday Shock.
Are you planning to take advantage of the additional 30% off online sale items today? Or are you planning to avoid ordering online altogether?
Up until about 5 minutes ago, Banana Republic's site was also down (for at least an hour or so).
ReplyDelete12:41PM EST and it's still down. However, Gap and Banana Republic should be up and running. HTH! :)
ReplyDeleteNO. I will not be using this extra30. I used TURKEY a couple times, realized that I overspent on Black Friday and now have to return some stuff. OOPS. Times are tough and I have to make sure there's enough to feed the children.
ReplyDeleteJenG.
Well, Ralph Lauren is up and running and with FFM's post about 30% off and free shipping..if you are in need of cashmere there are some very nice looking sweaters over there! The 30% off makes them not too shabby in price (maybe no tax either!?) Can anyone comment that has bought RL cashmere in recent years? I know it used to be da bomb but haven't bought in a long time.
ReplyDeleteAhh, the joy of Cyber Monday! I'm glad I did all my online shopping this morning!
ReplyDeleteHeavy traffic on all web sites this morning?, glad I got my order in super early.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like Banana Republic is back. But when I click on an item, neither the image nor the sizes are loaded. Is it just me or there's still problem with the site?
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that this much traffic is being driven to the retail sites. Some people seemed so down about cyber Monday, but it seems to be exceeding everyone's expectations! I am curious about the sale numbers for Black Friday and today and how they compared to past years.
ReplyDeleteFrustrating for the websites to be down...maybe they're adding more merchandise? That would be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI shopped this morning before the site (sun) went down. I finally got the dersert bauble necklace I have been wanting all season. I hope the order still goes thru!
ReplyDeleteI ordered some things Saturday evening with the big % off promo so hopefully that order won't be affected (fingers crossed!). The Bloomingdale's site is also down - seems like bad timing for all these places to have technical difficulties!
ReplyDeleteI woke up this morning to an inbox full of cyber-Monday promos. Apologize in advance if any of the codes below have been previously posted:
ReplyDeleteKate Spade - 25% off sale items with "GOODCHEER" plus free shipping on orders of $200.
Origins - $10 off any order of $35 with "tenoff" through 12/1. Free shipping on all orders through 12/16.
Philosophy - Free shipping on all orders and goody bag on orders of $100 with "holidaytreats"
Cole Haan - 30% off with "HOLIDAYSALE"
Crabtree & Evelyn - 20% store-wide and free shipping on orders of $35 with "FREE35"
FFM: LOL - that's exactly what I was thinking!
ReplyDeleteI was going to order a couple of things, but I guess I won't be now. Maybe I'll head downtown later to the Michigan Ave store and see what deals they have instead!
ReplyDeleteYes, I ordered at 2:00 am central time...so I hope my orders are OK:)
ReplyDeleteor they could be updating their website with shipments updates..hope hope with valid tracking numbers.
ReplyDeleteI also noticed this morning that in the sale section there were items that were long sold out so hopefully they are cleaning this up so shoppers will not be dissapointed if the item gets cancelled.
Oh Joy! I bet in the next fews days to a week we will here about all the cancelled and missing orders....that got lost during the update...such a shame:(
ReplyDeleteIf the items I am watching get marked down, I will order. Otherwise I'll wait it out and see what the prices are in store
ReplyDeleteWebsite is down again. I wonder what the heck is really going on...
ReplyDeleteMelanie: Cnn reported that Black Friday sales are up 7% from last year, but the sales were deeper this year so it will mean less profit for the retailers.
ReplyDeleteI heard on the news that they were up only 3% this morning.
ReplyDeleteI guess one new organization was being more optimistic, 7 0r 3 who really cares the fact that is up is good news.
ReplyDeleteNo, I wasn't meaning to start an arguement or anything just an FYI that probably still getting the numbers in, etc. I for one REALLY don't care myself. I rarely watch the news and just happened to hear this and remember it. Chill:)
ReplyDeleteWebsite just let me in, but there don't seem to be any new markdowns so nothing to get excited about. :)
ReplyDeleteanon 1:57 I wasn't trying to start an argument either, all I was trying to say was that it was good news, I really don't care either.
ReplyDeleteI was at the J. Crew store during lunch and they were having lots of problems with processing online order returns because "the entire database has crashed".
ReplyDeleteThey better fix the problem soon, as I am waiting on them to process my Lucinda coat order I placed over the weekend :)
erica
Another canceled item--from an order placed the 25th AM! Still no tracking for the rest of the order-frustration. Not gonna order anymore after this mess.
ReplyDeletesite just went back down
ReplyDeleteOT -
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen/tried the high-heel Fabienne boots? I'm considering them in gray but would like to hear some opinions if anyone has tried them.
TIA!
Bug Pin:
ReplyDeleteI bought several cashmere sweaters from RL this winter with the FFM discount and free shipping (great deals!). They are really nice, IMHO nicer than JCREW's "Italian Cashmere". The cable sweaters I bought are not from the extremely overpriced RL Blue or Black lines, but from the most affordable "Lauren" line. As I said, they are beautiful, have cables (i.e., much more cashmere than a fat knit sweater) and cheaper (with the disount and FS coupons) than JCREW!
What's going on? Is there a conspiracy? Victoria's Secret's site is down too!
ReplyDeleteI got a pair of high heel fabrienne in gray. The color is more like taupe to me in incandescent light.
ReplyDeleteI haven't wear them out yet but the heel height is manageable and they felt fairly comfortable. No zippers - pull on only so the shaft is a bit looser than the zipped on styles I am used to.
I like the patent leather contrast trimming, but hubbie found them a little odd.
Overall I have no complaints as I got them on sale, and grey long boots are not easy to come by.
Anybody else concerned about compromised credit card info in all of this site crashing?
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible of me to say, but I'm not too sad that the site is down. With it not working I can't buy anything. Lately the deals have been too entiching for my weak will power.
ReplyDeleteI've been a buying machine. Never looked better in all the new J.Crew; but I need to get off the spending train and on to the saving one.
Melanie, I heard sales were up 3% compared to last year's Black Friday.
ReplyDeleteLast time Gap and Banana Rep. had an online sale, I also had troubles w/ their server, which of course decided to crash in the middle of my order. I can't even get the jcrew page to load, and Banana&Gap's web pages look funky. This is sooo annoying!
being international i am SO sad that i can't see the new catalogue in person. :(
ReplyDeleteActually just found out you cannot even call in and check your previous order (nor place one) due to their system being down. I was thinking you could at least call in. Anyway, they said call back in 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteBoy-a day offline-that'l put a dent in your sales:(
Mickey must be having a heart attack right now, site down for most of the day lost sales....
ReplyDeleteThis could be the final nail in the coffin for J Crew, customers are only patient for so long. Time is up J Crew!
ReplyDeleteI give up -- I've been trying to order a dress all day and keep getting error messages. I'm so annoyed at this point that I don't even want it anymore!
ReplyDeleteJust as a warning/heads up, I tried placing an online order today and noticed that the shopping cart was calculating some of the prices incorrectly. Some of the promotions (I got men's layering tees 3 for $30) revert back to pre-promotion prices after the EXTRA30 code has been applied. I called in the order instead and had them manually "fix" it so the total came out correctly. "Even the best sites" can have calculation glitches so make sure you do your math before submitting the order! It saved me from being overcharged $45!
ReplyDeletebugpin,
ReplyDeleteYes, it makes it seem with the message that the site displays that you could call in your order...I cannot begin to imagine the amount of $ JCrew is losing right now...prime shopping hours/time.
JCrew should offer free shipping tomorrow for the inconviences right now...but then again they probably couldn't handle all the orders...I knew the holiday would "get them" Hoping I was wrong but I was not:(
ReplyDeletegot my first TURKEY order! yeah -- so don't fear they are being shipped. that said one item missing :( and no order recepit paper thing in their either (had i not double checked online i would have not even noticed the missing item....), so be sure to double check your stuff when it gets to you!
ReplyDeleteps - item missing wasn't low quanitity or anything, i think it was simply forgotten
ReplyDeleteanon 4:30 - It is not just J Crew, there are alot of other sites having problems as well they are well documented in this blog today.
ReplyDelete4:40PM EST, and the site is down again.
ReplyDeletekate: I hate to tell you if the paper receipt is missing it is most likely in someone elses box with your item, I have experienced this first hand.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though there are a few retailers facing site issues today. There is an article at Crain's about this if anyone is interested:
ReplyDeleteJ. Crew, Bloomie's get Cyber Monday shock
Still not up /:
ReplyDeleteIf it helps, polo.com is running fine! I was just browsing : )
anon @ 3:38 - thank you for the info on the Fabiennes! I was hoping they were truly "charcoal". I appreciate your review so I don't waste money on shipping!
ReplyDeleteI was able to purchase 3 items before the site went down. I feel very relieved since they were all three Christmas gifts for my sister! :)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI placed my order via phone - what is annoying, though, is that the sales rep told me the "Extra30" is for online purchases only, and that she'll give it to me as a one-time courtesy, neverminding that I would much prefer to place this online if only the website were working.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteJ. Crew forgot the receipt in one of my orders a couple of weeks ago and mailed it to me separately. God knows where it was hanging out in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteToday I got a package but received a BLACK men's jacket instead of my BLACK bubble necklace :(((
(1) Does anyone wait for and miss a men's jacket? I got it in my box by mistake.
Men's 14-wale cord jacket
Item number: 96333
Color: Black, Size: M
Order number: 100748748X(*)
Order date: 11/21
* I hide the last order number as X for a security reason
I returned it and asked J.crew to ship the item to this person once again so that the person will be able to receive it.
(2) Also, does anyone receive the black bubble necklace (which was supposed to be sent to me...) by mistake?
Item: 92687
Color: Black
Order number: 100783153X(*)
Order date: 11/21
*I hide the last order number as X for a security reason
I've already asked J.Crew to ship it immediately but, if you got it by mistake, please return it to J.Crew.
Has anybody tried to use both the extra30 and free shipping promo codes? I can't get them to work together.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of those of you with missing items in your order as well as wrong items...really scary. I almost wish I hadn't ordered now. I live overseas and my boxes sit at my parents for a month or two until I get home to check them...it could be wrong and I won't even know it for a long time!Thnaks for the FYI's; I am not ordering again...
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
ReplyDeleteThat is b/c you can only use one code.
I placed an online order on Sat. and it shipped today with a tracking number. I ordered 9 items so will see if I get them all in the box; all are supposed to have shipped.
ReplyDeleteNot sure where to post a coat review...Alexis, maybe you can do a coat review post at end of week (when everyone has hopefully rec'd their sale orders).
ReplyDeleteTo follow is my humble opinion of the
Double-cloth Marie coat item 99244 in Majestic Purple. This coat is a thumbs down for me mainly because of the color and the fabric. Even at the low price of $129 + add'l 30% off I'm not going to keep it or purchase it in any other color. (Just a note, the one I rec'd today is the one that went missing so lucky me, I have another Marie coming that I'll have to return.)
Add'l details:
- the collar is meant to be worn up, you can't put it down if you want to;
-I'm 5'7", 130 lbs., curvy with boxy hips & it fits TTS (ordered a size 4) but if you have any more than a bump of a rear the coat will hug it and the coat above your rear will look billowy between the rear and upper back. Maybe size up if you're curvy;
-the fabric is scratchy, not soft, to the touch, but not itchy;
-I dislike the seems along side the outside of each arm and I dislike the buttons;
-and finally it's comfortable but not a keeper for me.
I had high hopes for Marie to replace my mid-thigh casual coat from 9 years ago but the Marie isn't it. I wanted casual but this coat is just blah (as Snoopy would say). I also have a habit of building high hopes around items that never live up to my expectations. I hope it works for others. :)
How were able to check the system, and more importantly how did your parcel ship with an tracking # when JC system was down for most of the day? They were unable to work too.
ReplyDeleteThe website's back up, I'm on hold with CS about a screwed up order, and they're playing John Lennon singing "Strange Days"..."Nobody told me there'd be days like these"! Seems appropriate!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the news link Alexis. I wish the summertime upgrade issues would've received such timely publicity too!
ReplyDeletemary2062: What happened to your order, what stage did it get messed up?
ReplyDeleteI managed (after 4 hours of trying) to purchase a small Odile bag today. After reading all these order horror stories though, I'm worried the order will get canceled. I haven't received any kind of confirmation email. When I go into my order history it says Order Status: Released. Does anyone know what this means?
ReplyDeleteAnony@5:37
ReplyDeleteI just checked online, went into my account, saw the tracking number, etc. It worked just fine for me a few mintues ago. I checked it online, typed the post here...easy peasy lemon squeesy for me:) As someone just pointed out the website is back up...
I too just checked my order from this weekend and it shipped as well today with a tracking number to confirm the other person's earlier post a few minutes ago. I just kept trying off and on all day and I was able to get onto the JCrew website just fine a times...
ReplyDeleteanon 4:29p
ReplyDeleteThat's the reason I was kinda surprised--it says if you need us immediately call 800. I bet their call center is ringing off the hook yet no one can order. I feel bad for J Crew...it really sucks as it is not going to make matters any better with their financial picture and if orders are also being screwed up as referenced by myself and Kate! well..you get the picture. It is just not good for their business.
Oka it is working for me now, I have been trying to check on this order for most of the pm.
ReplyDeletebugpin,
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree I was the Anony@4:29 and also posted again wondering about order screw ups b/c I order from overseas and my packages are just kept waiting at my parents...really makes me a bit worried and not wanting to order...at least place a large order...not too worried about my 2 item order but the bigger one...yes!
^can your parents go through and make sure it is as ordered? I would hate for them to go through what we have to go through in order to rectufy anything wrong but I would feel MUCH better if I were you.
ReplyDeleteThe website is up for me now but very slow!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about the issues relating to the website. :( I can't imagine what the atmosphere must be like for the IT department today.
ReplyDeleteReview Marie Coat: I plan on using your review for a post tomorrow! :)
Received an order I placed during the 20% off sale, and got a boys cardigan instead of a necklace I ordered. Bummer. Here's hoping I receive the correct items in my turkey order.
ReplyDeleteebee,
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how the (bleep) could that happen?
Really bad.
A few years ago--from JCrew--I ordered a ladies orange butterfly cashmere sweater and got a HUGE man's really thick gray sweater. What the heck?
The site is down again @6:40pm...
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous at 5:42
ReplyDeleteI placed an order 10 days ago (during the pre-TURKEY 20% sale) for an argyle sweater I'd been stalking for months and it has been AWOL ever since. I got an order number and a shipping confirmation along with a tracking number for UPS, but when I tracked it the UPS site read "billing information received" (this is since November 21). I've called about it several times; the JC customer service reps have been kind--they initially blamed it on the holiday, though I kind of knew that it wasn't probably the case--and finally they traced it (they say it left the warehouse on 11/24, but somehow got "lost"). Essentially, they have no idea where the item is (my guess it was never sent, although the last rep I talk to says otherwise), and suffice to say it's not coming. They credited my account, but did not offer anything special except their apologies. I suppose anything you order from the internet at this point comes with the risk of not getting the item, and I know that every time I place an order. I'm glad it was just something small for myself and not a Christmas present or something more important.
mary2062: From reading alot of posts since like Nov 21 was a major screw up for JC warehouse. I am sorry to hear about your parcel, if it was shipped it, someone should have received it. I have a similar problem JC cannot find the tracking numbers and yet my account said it shipped, it make me nervous the same thing happened to me, one parcel was a christmas present.
ReplyDelete^ from reading alot of posts it looks like Nov 21 was not "From reading alot of posts since like Nov 21" sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 6:50/6:52
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your issues with your order! Based on my experience, I would not count on that package coming, particularly without a tracking number. Apparently now even WITH a tracking number you are not guaranteed your item will make it! The reps said my item shipped, but I would bet my bottom dollar that it never did. It's annoying, but as long as they credit my account, I can't get too upset. There will always be more beautiful things to grab my attention in the future.
OT: Does anyone have the Juliet heels in buttercup? I just got them and they definitely look less buttercup and more citron to me. Have to say I'm disappointed...
ReplyDeleteI placed an order on Nov 22,two necklaces, and I received the order last Wednesday, there were two necklace but I could not recognized, so I called CS, they reordered the two necklaces which I want again, myself returned the two wrong necklaces. But last Saturday night,I found out one of the two necklaces due to the inventory out of stock,so I called CS and a nice lady was surprised that she saw there were still a large amount of this necklaces in stock, that made me surprised, too, what happened to my order? And she helped me to reorder the necklace again with overnight shipping, and then you know what happened? I received an e-mail today which said my cancellation of the order has been processed, wow! I'm confused then and called the CS,they couldn't give a clear explanation to me,I felt I was tired, disappointed and...CS would like to reorder the item again, but I refused,I worried about some stupid transactions may happen, although I so adore this necklace and has been waited to get it so long~
ReplyDeleteI've met a similar situation in the past when I ordered that Peyton Bag four times and gave up at the end~
I really hope J.Crew will do a better job in the future~
mary2062: That is what I believe too that it never shipped.
ReplyDeleteI saw a bunch of old items in the sale section section yesterday that have long sold out and the inventory counts kept going up on some items makes you wonder how many orders got cancelled due to no inventory. Looks like the demons of the past summer caught up with J Crew, Mickey fire your IT dept.
ReplyDeletesite **still** down??
ReplyDeletethis whole situation just makes me want to laugh.
ReplyDelete(and cry).
Anon 7:28 PM
ReplyDeleteThe site is "ON" and "OFF". Does not seem to be fixed completely.
I placed two orders on 11/25 - the day the TURKEY promo was rolled out. I placed one more TURKEY order on 11/27. My 11/27 order says it has shipped. Both from 11/25 are sitting "released" -- and each time I go back and check on them, I find another item has been canceled. My orders are stitting in pergatory while the items I ordred slowly sell out. I am so tired of J Crew. Right when I thought they had their act together... frustrating.
ReplyDeleteYeah... about 2 months ago I ordered size 4 prima stretch wool pinstripe skirt... instead, they sent me size 12 pants in a different color and style. The worst part is, the bag was labeled as if it was the skirt. Way to go JCrew! At least they still had the skirt when I called CS to straighten it out... looks like most haven't been that fortunate :(
ReplyDeleteI've been checking their website all day long and every time I checked it wasn't working....
ReplyDeleteI think majority of people on this blog were right months ago when they predicted chaos with JCrew website just around holidays.
JCrew offers "gift gurus" and "gift of the month" club yet something as simple as fixing the website is way out of reach? I'm saying this because other retailer websites are up and running-maybe it's time they took some advice from...ummm any other retailer that doesn't have these issues?
It seems that the orders placed around on 11/21 are delivered now. It is just a hunch, but a huge mess will be going around by the time the orders which placed with TURKEY code are shipped…Will Mickey have to “apologize” once again?
ReplyDeleteWell, I too, had many problems/issues with J Crew this summer during their website issues. Items never sent, cancelled, and sent three times, yet never received.
ReplyDeleteI must say, that I placed two orders during the "TURKEY" promo, the latest on Friday - and they were shipped, the Friday order arriving today (Monday)...it actually was sent out on the weekend.
Maybe because I live in Virginia, the same state they ship from, it helps??? Who knows.
As for today, who knows - the whole internet seems slow today.
I sure would not want to be ordering when the site crashed again, talk about lost orders! I guess they are going to have to extend the sale beyond Wed.
ReplyDeletemack
ReplyDeleteyou are having my identical issue. can I ask if yours was a large order?
JCrew card holders: does anyone know what "JCrew preferred cardmember status" means? I just got a letter with an offer to upgrade my status but what they are offering me (according to this letter) is what I already have (rewards cards, free alteration on full priced merchandise etc.)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone received a letter like this and do they know what it means?
san fran-that is prob silver and it gets you ZERO no different than the green card
ReplyDeleteWow ` how long has this site been down? I checked it over an hour ago & still nothing ~ pathetic. If I were Jc, I think someone would be getting fired over this little debacle.
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew:
ReplyDeleteHow can we "STAY TUNED" more than 7 hours?! Please fix it ASAP! Also please remove "ridiculous" phrase like "even BEST sites crash". If you are the "BEST", it won't cause so much troubles... Your message just upsets and offends your customers.
Bug Pin: that's bad news then-no free shipping with JCrew silver card status? No reason to apply for it at all? Should I even bother calling them?
ReplyDelete(My fiance has free shipping with his GAP/BR silver card, I was hoping for something similar. Oh well.)
Website still down! bummer :(
ReplyDeleteI've been checking the site periodically since 10:00 in the morning. I can't believe it's still not working. I don't really care anymore... There was this one time I was able to add eight things to my cart, but the site went down again, and all of my items were cleared. :(
ReplyDeletemaryw2062: I'm going through the same thing. The waitlisted plum peacoat that I order on 10/24 supposedly shipped on 11/24. I have a tracking number but the UPS site continues to state "Billing Information Received". CS told me they can try to trace it but I have to wait the 7 day standard shipping time and then call back on 12/3. Something tells me that this coat fell through some black hole never to be seen again.....
ReplyDeletesan fran ca - I got a silver card today in the mail, along with the letter saying "prefered status"... it basically means nothing from what I understand, but the card is prettier, so I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe their website is still down ... it's the last thing JC needed on top of all the other crap that's been going on with them!! Oh well :/
anon 9:13, i made several orders over week ago and UPS still says billing info received as well.
ReplyDeleteChiming in on orders placed 11/20-ish. The order that my PS called in that day just arrived today--10 days later. There was never any tracking number assigned to the package and CS were "mystified". The order that I received was short one item and one item that had been cancelled in the interim still appeared on the shipping receipt and was part of the total. Fortunately CS was able to confirm that I was not charged for the item (even though it appeared on receipt) and credited me for the missing item.
ReplyDeleteThe missing item is what really made me nervous. (Cancelled item I had a e-mail to back up claim.) What if they had thought I was trying to scam them? How do you prove what was never put in the box??
Still down. I copy J.Crew Guy in Canada. I am OK with this as it makes me less tempted to buy things...but I'll bet the company isn't too happy right now!!!
ReplyDeleteTotal Loser site ~ checked it 2-3 hours ago & the site is still down ~ Mickey should address this PRONTO! Can u even imagine, the biggest cyber day of the year, and your site is down???? Can you say seriously stupid? On the other hand, maybe they'll have more sales now that they didn't sell anything...
ReplyDeletemy order placed 11/19 arrived today in maryland with everything that was supposed to be there. took forever to ship, and then spent wednesday-sunday just sitting at the ups center.
ReplyDeleteI, too, opened a J Crew box today to find it missing one item (black bubble necklace). I just knew something was wrong because the box was too light. I called immediately. The CS rep said it was probably sent to someone else. Although he did ask me if the box was damaged in any way. The rep offered to resend it, or do a refund. I chose the refund because, as I explained to, him my trust in J Crew is gone. And I end up looking suspicious when I did nothing wrong while someone else gets my necklace for free. He said no, you don't have a history of this. But I told him I won't order again. What if it happened again? All I got was an apology, and "please call back if you need anything else"! I said no, I'm done. Shopping online is supposed to make life easier, right?! I don't think they care.
ReplyDeleteMy wish list for X'mas:
ReplyDelete1. The IT system which never crashes
2. The operation system which deliver items properly (as ordered)
3. The stress-free shopping experience at J.Crew!
Yikes! That bites about the website. Fancy new promos and nowhere to key in codes. Can't even see merch!
ReplyDeleteAt least I recvd my peacock Juliet mid-heels and dark navy Lizzie driving mocs today. Placed the order on Sat, 11/22. Pretty good considering there were only 3 business days last week. Our UPS didn't deliver on Black Fri.
LOVE LOVE LOVE my new shoes!
Oh yeah...it's 7:22 PM PST and the J Crew site is down. BR's site is up.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 10:13 - I know. This is one reason I am afraid to shop online anymore. Many months ago I dropped a couple or few hundred dollars online and the only thing that didn't show was a perfect fit tee. So, I called and gave me a refund. Now I also am afraid to order because if something doesn't show and I complain then they will say I have a "history" even though it is their fault. This is why I go to the store and just won't get things only if they are on-line, especially this time of year. I just got a Francie skirt in bright papaya from another store but I trusted that because it was packed by the store and only one item, which they aren't likely to forget. But, it makes you lose faith in the online ordering process, especially on days like this when the site has been down much or even most of the day.
ReplyDeleteI can't buy what I can't see. Nice job, Jcrew. Are you seriously trying to take the stock price down even further?
ReplyDeleteLOL! Lindsay B: I wish I was as enthusiastic as you are about the way JCrew card looks :)
ReplyDeleteI guess when you hope to get just as much as other retailers offer (not more) with their cards, this kind of an "upgrade" is a disappointment. Meh :/
I did get the 25% off coupon so stores here I come :))
I was recently shorted an item in an order and contacted JC immediately and they never questioned it ... the CS even said she can "see where the cardigan was left out of the order"... hmm, that is kind-of wierd... so they noted that they short-shipped me an item and still charged me for it!? Anyway, the situation was fixed... but I've had lots of issues with JC orders lately and have always gotten good remedy from the CS and they've never referenced a "history" of me complaining of anything... in fact, if they did, I would be really mad because that just indicates that I make many online orders and they screw up a lot!
ReplyDeleteI second the notion that today's website problems probably saved me some money... can't even use my new silver credit card!! (haha ;) Thanks J. Crew!
i have been trying to get a cashmere sweater for my bf all day, and every time i get it into my shopping bag, the site crashes, that silly "Stay Tuned" page comes up, and when i come back the shopping bag is empty. i'm so bummed bc i thought i was getting such a great deal on a sweater, and since i'm a student with no income, i really have to cut back on xmas presents this year.
ReplyDeletethis is too frustrating, and i just don't understand how JC is letting this happen! i can only imagine the losses they must be incurring today! but most of all, i'm mad that i've wasted so much time when i could've saved all the distraction from exam-studying =( i will blame my C (and no present for the bf) on you, JC!
Bad news...there is still no sign of the orders I placed 11/21-11/22
ReplyDeleteGood news...I finally received
*something* from JCrew...the 25% off in-store card (thank goodness it's in-store because I won't be ordering again this holiday season after this fiasco)
To those question who are questioning "preferred" status...I don't mean to burst your bubble but I have had one for years and to my knowledge I have never received any perks reflecting my so called preferred status.
smarty - the grey in the Fabrienne is more like the dark fog color than a very dark gray. The patent trim however is a darker gray, closer to one expect of charcoal.
ReplyDeleteSite is still down. Very bad news. As I put in a major order a few days ago with the turkey code, I hope the items will be shipped eventually. At least nothing on the list is a gift. If I don't get my merchandise, just means I save the money...
Well I agree it's ridiculous the JCrew site has been down. However I was just on the BR/GAP site and placed an order of just some tanks and tees and their checkout timed out on me so I'm not sure I'll get that order, I'll have to call. I think all the sites are getting hit hard today and obviously the retailers can't keep up, not just JCrew.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Still down!!! How can that be????
ReplyDeleteThis summer I recall getting a catalog with an apology insert in it about the website problems and a coupon - maybe that's coming ; )
--lucegirl
i placed an order with J CREW Over the phone, and they honored the 30% and gave me free shipping. i got a steal on my stuff! 2 sweaters for my husband, the fiona wool ruffle coat for like $65, originally $198!! ,and a bauble necklace for $30. just call!
ReplyDeleteOther websites also went down: yahoo store, Sears, Saks Fifth Avenue, Costco, Dell, Victoria's Secret, Bloomingdale's and Williams-Sonoma (per Computer World). But I think J Crew is the longest.
ReplyDeleteGlad I got up early to do all my Christmas shopping at J Crew. The 30% off the sale price was a sweet present to my wallet.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else have problems some times using the PayPay plugin at J Crew when you have to use the coupon code to generate a new balance?
Still down right now!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone (if anyone) who was able to order today ends up receiving their order! Same to anyone ordering over the weekend.. I hope the site being down won't cause J. Crew to lose all of the orders!
Anon@11.21: How did you manage free shipping?
ReplyDeleteThere had been something wrong since early this morning: the site was not updated on regular time and many items which were sold out much earlier appeared with full 99 inventory counts. So probably it does not matter whether ordering before the website was down or placing orders by phone because it is the entire system problem. I would rather worry if I placed orders before the system was down (they might lose orders again like summer fiasco?). Until we receive items, nothing is guaranteed.
ReplyDeletewow, it really makes me sick to think of the sales J. Crew missed out on today. Any guesses on how many IT employees will be fired tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteKitchy- I'm guessing ONE IT person will be fired, since only ONE IT person is working on it...
ReplyDeleteHi Alexis -
ReplyDeleteAs we all wait for the site to once again be up and running, I had a thought. Perhaps a post on our favorite type of suiting? I know the gabardine's been updated and I'd love to hear if folks like it better now.
I heard jcrew doesn't have an IT Department and that Mickey does fiddles with it as a side hobby!
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew fired its IT Department in their downsizing efforts this month to save money.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Mickey himself is on the verge of being fired if he does not take it seriously. He could have done something with this poor IT situation. He might have been too focusing on product developing rather than operation. Shareholders would not allow him to manage company if the performance should continue to be so poor.
ReplyDeleteI got an order today placed 11/21-22ish. Everyone thing is allright with it, fortunately. I ordered the driving mocs in a size down from my normal size--the bigger ones flop off my heel when I walk. T
ReplyDeletehe smaller size (8s) are a little snug at the toe, but I here they stretch out--Is this true? Id like to wear them with trouser socks in the winter.
Thanks!
PS- I guess the site being down *is* saving *me* money, JCrew! As the site has been down most of the day, and because of all of these shipping difficulties, it would be nice of them to offer a little thanks (perhaps in the form of a temporary discount) to *all* of their regular customers & cardholders.
Also, I am not pleased about paying $18 shipping when the item takes 10 days to arrive. Free shipping for cardholders, esp on 50/75+ orders is *more* than fair, JCrew...
Oh my god, I can't believe the site is still down! I knew the site was on and off throughout the day but it's almost 10PM Pacific Time! Absolutely ridiculous, I find it.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I received the 25% off in-store coupon in the mail today. For those who didn't get them last week, you might find yours soon. :) Not a Crew card holder, buy lots of sale/promotional items from my B&M using my student discount.
kendra - I am a 7.5 and wear a 7 in the mocs. Don't give up on them. They will stretch to fit your foot. :-)
ReplyDelete10:05p Pacific time and website is back up.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it mean by "having a history"?
ReplyDeleteI did complained about a few things in the past week - 1) shipped completely wrong order; 2) CS refused to ship me the correct items but insisted me reordering the items on my own expense first and as a result, one of the correct items which was supposed to be a thanksgiving gift was sold out; 3) I was promised to be shipped one of the still available items before thanksgiving but order got cancelled out of the blue and I was not notified at all until i called; 4) CS told me they would get the cancelled order taken care of but again, no action, until I double and tripled checked with them; 5) and after that I got an email from CS saying once the order is ready to ship, my credit card will be charged...
So what if I do have a "history"? I was more disappointed than angry for all that happened honestly.
It must've been up for just a few minutes because it's back down at 10:15pm pst.
ReplyDeleteOnly the front page is running. Clicked the sign in page but no response...
ReplyDeleteI had been hoping to order, but now I guess I'm not ... This is seriously ridiculous. Photo shoots in Iceland? Coats for $3,000? Apparently they can afford it, so why have they not had a consistently working site for months?! I've been a long-time J.Crew follower, but my loyalty may be waivering. I'm severely disappointed J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteI got on the site for like 2 minutes, then back to the "Stay Tuned"...oh well, yuck. 10:59 Pacific
ReplyDeleteThis is so ridiculous. I finally thought the site was back up again but it went right back down not 5 minutes later!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees am Ivory Pembridge Dot Skirt at their store in sz 2--please place on hold and post-thanks:) Or if you recollect seeing it at a certain store please give a shout out on name of store.
ReplyDeleteJ Crew sure doesn't have any trouble charging the credit card before the parcel ships out, but when it comes for a refund, or getting reimbursed for a lost parcel or missing item it is a whole different story. J Crew should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.
ReplyDeleteThe web site is slow this morning 6:00 order at your own risk!
ReplyDeleteWhat does released mean? I too have an order that was placed on 11/25 just sitting around. Funny thing is, I placed another order on 11/27 and it has shipped.
ReplyDeletereleased to shipping- the warehouse can now pick and select your items, is it a large order?, or the items very low quantity? I would phone CS to see what is going on with the order.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a valid tracking # from the 11/27?
ReplyDeleteIt is a very large order and I called Sunday and they said all was fine but it is still saying release. I can't call until I get off of work. Do you think it will be cancelled?
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:55am
ReplyDeleteThe order will not be canceled all together or anything too crazy BUT items may be canceled off the order. Most likely you would have already gotten emails about those canceled items though--and they would show as canceled when you looked at your order form online.
I finally rectified my order situation today (from 11/25 AM) and they are filling my box TODAY. In the meantime my order had 3 canceled items which I am having them do a "we will find it for you" even though they are on sale.
They are bending over backwards as I have called them daily (very nice I might add) and they know they screwed up. I think it not a good idea to place a very large order as I did. I firmly believe that was the hold up as they were doing some extra checking via CC co. & meantime my order probably just sat~prob ultimately for my protection. BTW-they never told me the CC verification was the reason (i took that from sales assoc that posted here about lg orders). They actually told me something bogus each time about why it hadn't been shipped yet "items were missing from stock" what?? it didn't make sense at all.
Anyway, they are sending me a few new items that popped back up on the site in very minimal quantities overnight free of charge so they should come ASAP and I feel confident should get them. One of them was the Pembridge skirt in a 2 instead of the 4 that is being packed in my large order. Let me know if anyone needs the 4;)
Anon-
My suggestion is to check on your order with CS--the fact that it reads released is a very good indicator. Mine actually still reads "open"~Good luck!
thanks for the advice bug pin. I will be calling soon I have already had one thing cancelled so that sucks I will push for free shipping
ReplyDeleteThey lost 2 parcels of mine, 1 order was called in, the other placed on the web. They were sent out without tracking #s. All they can say is I am sorry. Sorry does not cut it with me.
ReplyDeletebugpin,
ReplyDeleteMay I ask how many items were in your order. I had a 9 item order on Sat. and it seems to have shipped out just fine...just curious for future orders of mine....thanks.
anon 12:50 - Do you have a valid tracking #?, I would check it if it ship out on Sat. there were problems.
ReplyDeleteBugpin - Released is Open. I am happy for your order problems are being resolved.
ReplyDeleteJ Crew is not being honest with me either I have received many excuses, that is why I need to know from someone whose parcel shipped out on Sat whether they received a valid tracking #!
Yes, I have a valid tracking number and it is set to arrive tomorrow according to the UPS website:) No problems...so far so good...
ReplyDeleteMy package was shipped out on Saturday. I have a valid UPS tracking number and the UPS site says "out for delivery". Hopefully your package is also on the way!
ReplyDeleteanon2.07 & 1:42 - Thanks, it looks like the tracking numbers did not scanned when it got loaded on to the truck, I now know that I am getting fed a b.s. line of coverup.
ReplyDeleteDarn! I called 3x's to try and use both codes (EXTRA30 and free shipping) but was denied on every attempt. I even tried the sympathy vote...I had been trying so hard to get on the site and finally did... trying to stretch the Christmas budget... may have to cancel the order... sadly, to no evail! They seem pretty rigid in their policy. Too bad b/c other sites like Nike and Victoria's Secret were easy to combine offers. I placed my J-Crew order anyway and will again in the future.
ReplyDeleteAnony@4:46 So which did you take? the free ship or the extra 30%
ReplyDeleteIf you took the free ship try emailing them and asking for the 30% off. I did and the second email worked.
So I placed an order last night when the sight finally decided to work, and today I noticed that all the items are back in my cart! Even though I saw the "thank you for your order page"! And of course now two of the items are sold out. Arrrghh.
ReplyDeleteIt is not worth ordering from them right now, orders are being messed up big time, it is not worth the headaches. I received the December catalog today I threw in the garbage without looking at it, I am so pi**ed at them.
ReplyDeleteAgain??? I'm tired of their site. I haven't shopped for months since the original debacle from last fall.
ReplyDeleteIt's happened again! I received an order today that was placed early last week and to my dismay, my Large Leather Thompson Tote in Burnt Sienna was not in the box, but of course, I was charged for it! I called customer service, waited for more than 10 minutes and was told that the item was now sold out, but I could get in ivory if I'd like. Um, no. I'd like the Burnt Sienna that I ordered, you forgot to ship and then sold out of while my box was on the way to my house. I just tried to get on the site to see if there is another bag that I could subsitute (I travel frequently for business and need a big bag to lug a laptop and notebooks in), but what do you know, the site is down again. I am so frustrated with J.Crew right now!!!
ReplyDeleteReceived my Turkey order this afternoon. Got the dream tie neck cardi in snow, which is amazing--the tie falls perfectly, and the eva cashmere sweater in spearmint. The eva is gorgeous, but was v. boxy..I am going to try a size down. When I called to order a smaller size, I decided to order another sweater (cambridge cable crew in spearmint), as it is a basic, and the SA talked me into another sweater! I have a disease! Helllp!!
ReplyDeleteI justified it with the free shipping from the exchange, and working towards the $500 rewards with my new JCrew card.. sigh..
It is absolutely absurd that a national company, such as JCrew, cannot kept there technology working. At the very *least*, they should have redundant servers that can kick in when the primary's go down. This completely undermines my confidence in the company and their management. If they could not anticipate these technological problems, how will they address the many unknowns with this economic climate.
ReplyDeleteJim Cramer in his stop trading CNBC segment says JCrew is a buy -and acknowledged inventory problems - but he fails to account for consumer sentiment. While JCrew has undoubtedly raised a significant amount of capital for their balance sheet, I fear they have alienated their customer base. I have always been happy with in store sales, but I must say, my recent online experiences with JCrew have be abysmal. With websites not up, orders not actually shipping, and incomplete orders, I begin to wonder if it is worth the hastle. I, for one, will be staying far away from JCG.
The problem is a lot of systems have a single point of failure. If their order database is the one screwing up, that affects ordering and warehousing/shipment.
ReplyDeleteYou can make everything redundant and 5 9's but it's going to be expensive. Mostly the financial/wall street or airline scheduling does that because they lose a lot more money even when the system is down for a few minutes.
