The men's shop J.Crew opened in a former bar down in Tribeca can't really be replicated—there's too much going on, and the space is very unique. So Mickey Drexler has decided that each additional men's-only shop he opens will have its own vibe. Example: the 2,449-square-foot store that bowed about two weeks ago at the Garden State Plaza in New Jersey, which looks nothing like the Liquor Store bar location. Instead of being dimly lit and filled with dusty bottles of Campari, it's bright and open, with cement floors, industrial fixtures, a denim bar and a chino wall.The new men's store in NJ definitely has a nice, upscale, clean feel to it. It also looks a lot more spacious than the Tribeca store. :) I would definitely check it out if I lived near by. I also appreciate J.Crew's decision to not replicate the Tribeca Men's Store, but to make each men's store its own unique style. Very cool!
Do any readers know of plans for more men's stores? Specifically in Boston? Thanks.

ReplyDeleteWell considering it's past 12am est, and the sale page still says 30% off, it's looking like the 30% may be extended for one day, perhaps to make up for the one day where the site was down.

ReplyDeleteI was at the JC Men's store in Paramus twice in the last week.
ReplyDeleteI found they had a nice selection and a good number of sale items. The store had a pretty good vibe to it.
I found two interesting things by talking to one of the guys who works there:
1. This is a J Crew "Concept" store so they get their new inventory about 30 days earlier than all other stores.
2. The store has been hitting its sales targets, but only due to the deep markdowns, which have been the biggest sellers (of course!)
