"Thanks!" to Kitchy7 who let us know about J.Crew's latest promotion. J.Crew is offering 20% off your entire purchase (both regular and sale priced items) at any J.Crew or J.Crew Factory store. This promotion ends 12/24/08.
Something I find interesting is that J.Crew sent an email announcing this promotion, with a subject line that states the promotion "starts today" (Saturday, Dec 20th). However, as many Aficionadas reported in this Thursday's "Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?" post, many stores were already offering 20% off (everything) earlier in the week. Maybe the new promo was just in regular stores earlier this week and not in factory stores? In any case, I am happy to see the offer being extended until December 24th! :)
Are you planning to take advantage of this offer, or wait a bit longer (for better deals)? Do you think there will be another online promotion in the next few days? If so, what do you think it might be? :)
Erm, this might surprise you, but no. I will not be taking advantage of this promotion. I'm stitching my wallet shut until we get the Spring collection . . . which would most likely debut in January.
ReplyDeleteActually . . . I'll probably buy a tie or something.
yeah, just saw that in my inbox.
ReplyDeleteI know JCrew wants to steer traffic to their stores before 12/24. But since most of the things I still covet after all these promotions are jcrew.com/catalogue only items,
don't think I will take advantage of this.
My store was having this promotion when I went yesterday to make a couple of returns...I didn't find anything I absolutely had to have, though. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope they will do a discount online again soon! I want to be able to use my gift cards online... but I'm not going to buy online when I know everyone else is getting discounts in store!
ReplyDeleteIt kind of suprises me that they're not doing an online promotion today. I thought they'd being offering some kind of promotion up until xmas.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by a couple of the JCrew stores in the Minnepolis area. I picked up the deco silk cami and a t-shirt. Both the sales section and the general store stock seemed rather light. The JCrew store in Maple Grove had a large rack of returns that was fun to look through but unfortunately nothing that I loved in my size. I will be watching on-line hoping someone returns my size on a couple of "must have" items.
ReplyDeleteLakeNokomis
Nope, waiting for my last online shipment, which will surely have one returnable thing, and then I will do my boatload of returns prob. during the week, didn't see anything great on thurs. when I went to the b/m. but, ofcourse its possible w/ all the online returns, there may be that one item, what an addict!
ReplyDeleteI went and returned something yesterday and they put it in this big closet filled with all the returns. They told me they were shipping them back, not putting them on the floor. is this normal?
ReplyDeleteYep, they typically send internet/catalog returns back to the warehouse rather than putting them on the floor.
ReplyDeleteamy, they wouldn't do an online promotion now because yesterday was the last day for guaranteed Christmas arrival.
ReplyDeleteAnon @9:23: Everything I returned this past week was put out onto the floor in my local J.Crew to be sold in-store. Maybe it just depends on the store?
ReplyDeleteAfter buying gifts for everyone else it is nice to have a promo for a gift for myself, no rush delivery needed.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I saw them put return stuff onto the floor ~ I guess it depends on the bm store???
ReplyDeleteMy store has recently had a rolling rack with catalog/internet returns out on the floor. I've also seen sweaters folded on tables that my store didn't regularly carry. I would agree with FFM that it depends on the store.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the managers at my store (in MI) both the associates and customers LOVE the direct/online returns rack (I know I've certainly purchased items off of it) - but whenever their district manager comes into the store, they make them remove it, and send back everything on it. So, my store has the rack of 75% of the time, but whenever their DM has been in, it disappears!
ReplyDeleteLooks like they are getting ready to add some more new items on the website somethime soon. JC moved alot of stuff to the sale section. There isn't any incentive to buy on-line right now, everything is so picked over.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I've been obsessively tracking all my orders, 3 of them were out for delivery yesterday but because of the snowstorm, rescheduled delivery is the 23rd. NOOOOOO...
ReplyDeleteMy store was already offering this promotion when I visited yesterday to return a few things... I did end up with a few more purchases...quinn camis for 15.99!
ReplyDeleteOooh. An online return rack at stores would be so cool. Being able to see something in person without having to order would be so great, especially if it turns out it's some minor thing that you can't tell from a photo that makes you not like it.
ReplyDeleteMaggie jacket size 10 all colors now...I would love to have black but no way am I paying the full sale price and shipping when just a few days ago it was 30% off and free shipping. No thanks. I don't want a plain black blazer that much! I am happy with my yellow "bargain" one:)
ReplyDeleteHey everyone! I just got back from the North Park store in Dallas. Everything is 20% off. The sale section is also "20% off sale". Not sure if they will combine the 20% entire store and 20% off sale. There were tons of Victoria camis in all colors. Only two giraffe halters from the resort line were on the rack. The sale section still has assorted sizes of high heel flares and trousers. I also saw Double Serge skirts in Ochre and Persimmon, a few Metallic Fleck pencil skirts, all in random sizes. There were two purple Lille coats in 10 and 12. The best thing #1 I saw was a pair of patent leather Serengeti (leopard print) ballet flats in 7. I wear an 8 and I wish I could squeeze in them! The best thing #2 I saw was a size 2 cream colored ruffled knee-length dress (I can't remember the name...it's from the bridal collection). It was marked down to $169 because it is missing the little black sash. I wear a 4 and I wish I could get in that dress too! They had the metallic-lame oxford shirts as well for $19.99 in the light silver color. Well that's the end of my report. Call the store (214) 987-9700 for more info
ReplyDeleteanyone able to combine student/teacher discount with this?
ReplyDeleteThe JC outlet in Gilroy had 20%off everything in the store, plus their sale merchandise was an additional 30% off. Great deals for whats left anyway....anyone remember the black v neck sweater last year in reg price stores with the white scotty dog on it??? well it was 88.00 last year around this time and i purchased it for about 13 dollars last night with the discounts.....it's adorable...
ReplyDeleteAlso was unable to use my educator discount at the valley fair JC last night when purchasing from the sale area a merino cardi...they wont combine the 20% off everything in the store with it either...kinda bummed about it.
Then got home and realized the sweater i bought was 10 less on line than in the store....i should have had them check it first before ringing it up!!!
I was unable to combine my student discount with the 20% off everything. The SA explained that it was because the 20% off was a transaction level discount and couldn't be combined. If it were just a 20% off sale, I could've used my student discount as well (as usual).
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI am unsure whether I already posted this somewhere, but I don't see it. Oh well!
Please, if anyone sees a candy tee in light blade in a size Large will you please let me know what store? I am desperately seeking one, lol:)
Thanks for your help!
Athena
Athena: Call the Orlando store in Mall at Millenia....they had a ton of the candy tees when I was there yesterday, so maybe they'll have one. 407-226-9732
ReplyDeleteThey were $29.99 plus 20% off...GOOD LUCK! :)
Linda, did you happen to notice how much the serengeti flats were? Thanks!
ReplyDeletehi all, OT i bought a dress for a wedding that i will no longer be attending, and i can't return as i bought it last month on final sale! anyway, it is a brand new, with tags, never worn, "Strapless Carolina Dress" (#95958) in black, size 0. it is sold out on the web. i was looking for $90 shipped to recoup what i spent. i am at t_sull at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteRe Christina:
ReplyDeleteThat district manager sounds so stupid! What's wrong with him/her? I hope JCrew employees will read this and do something about it.
I'd love, love, love to shop from catalog/online return racks myself!
Athena, my B&M also had a ton of candy tees - $29.99 with 20% off.
ReplyDelete(518) 456-5902
Agreed about the online returns racks -- what an awesome idea. I love being able to see online only merchandise before purchasing it.
ReplyDeleteAthena: I'm wearing the light blade right now in size L! I just bought it yesterday at Towson, MD store. I believe they have one in the front window on the mannequin. They also had light blade, the orange embellishment, the black or dark slate ones, and the licorice t in orange lettering. $29.99 & 20% off.
ReplyDeleteI usually purchase small-medium in the tee's. The shoulders are cut so narrow I went up to a large in the two candy tee's I purchased yesterday. HTH
as an associate, i can tell you that we are not supposed to keep full price merchandise from online that we do not have in the store. if someone returns a cable knit sweater or if an item is on sale, sure- we'll put in on the floor, but if it is collection merchandise or online/catalog only it must go back. the regional managers are not "so stupid," it's company-wide policy.
ReplyDeletethe catalog/online merchandise is sold strictly catalog/online so when we're holding one item in our store, the person who is looking online for it might not get it.
around the holidays, some stores (mine included) will hang on to some online returns because of the increased traffic/potential to sell in the stores, however come the end of the week or whenever the catalog stuff goes back, the items will more than likely be sent back.
Re: Candy Tee's
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice the way the shirt pooks-up on the shoulder. I think it's due to the way it sewn because I ironed it, wet it, and flattened it out but it still came back. They're also very narrow in the shoulders. Does anyone else have the shoulder issues?
I'm just waiting until after X-mas...I'm excited for the spring collection too!!
ReplyDeleteI did not buy any of the candy tees.....even on sale I thought the quality was poor esp. with the fit of the garment. I usually wear a medium and even the large was too small for my broad shoulders...I went out and actually found cuter graphic tees at other stores better made and for less!
ReplyDeleteAnon at 1:28: I think the Serengeti flats were $79.99. They were a display pair (they had little pieces of velcro on soles). Maybe you can get them for a further discount if you talk to the manager.
ReplyDeleteI did not have any problem with the candy tees, I took my usual size in tees, quality is good, they wash fine, overall I am very happy with them. However the painter ringspun tees are poor quality, the color is patchy in places it looked tie dyed, I only paid $14.00 for them so I cannot complain.
ReplyDeleteWent to the Brea store. They have a ton of sales stuff, including lots of the astrid jackets in black, camel and orange at $59.99 and 20% off everything, including full priced merchandise.
ReplyDeleteThe mall is crazy busy though, but I have a feeling that it will be worse after christmas when people return their impulse buys.
OT - Asking again - which J Crew in the San Francisco area is worth visiting - largest selections?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't combine the offer with the student discount at the Westfield Valley Fair J.Crew in San Jose. o(
ReplyDeleteI won't take advantage of this promo. I did tons of damage to my wallet with the previous ones. I am still waiting on 5 orders that are stuck in Vegas and Chicago. I am hopeful to get them by Xmas.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Costa Mesa store yesterday and there is not much left. Granted, I went at night and the store looked like a tornado had gone by. Nothing that I couldn't live without was left.
Went to J Crew in Edison, NJ to return the Ella dress which looked a lot better on the model than me. While the SA was processing my return, I noticed a small plastic bag next to the register with a skinny crystal garden bracelet in bright fuschia. The tag inside the bag had $49.99 on it. I asked to see it so that I could inspect it before it hit the plastic bin. I paid $49.99 minus 20%. A good deal!
ReplyDeleteIt's strange that JCrew wants to sell their jewelry so badly and yet they're so careless with it. To just toss it in those plastic bins is pretty bad. One woman was going through one of those plastic bins. She pulled her hand out and everything (necklaces and bracelets) was tangled together in one big ball. After awhile, she gave up and walked away.
athena: I saw candy tees in every color this morning (early) at the j.crew in roseville california. Call them to find out.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know much about the Orlando, Florida stores? I will be visiting Disney the next few days and want to stop by a Jcrew store. Which malls are they in and what is the best one? Thanks to anyone with the 411!
ReplyDeleteAnon @6:17: Orlando only has ONE J.Crew, and it is in the Mall at Millenia. There are 2 J.Crew Factory stores that opened this year but I haven't been to either. The Store Director, Managers, and SA's at the Millenia B&M are all fabulous and very friendly. The store does NOT get any Cashmere, Collection, Shoes (except for flip flops and online returns) or any of the unique pieces that are available online or at many other stores...that is why I have to order online so much. When I was in yesterday they actually had a few cashmere and collection pieces that were online returns and had been put out onto the sales floor...that's the only chance of seeing them down here. HTH! Have fun at Disney World! The weather has been low 80's, but is forecasted for low 60's on Monday, 70 on Tuesday, and then back up to almost 80 for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOT - but where do you guys get maternity items? I absolutely love J.Crew (my whole wardrobe is J.Crew) and wonder if there are maternity retailers that are comparable in style. I know Isabella Oliver is great but was wondering where else any of you stylish women (or men) would recommend! I have two kids and through with wearing frumpy clothes for additional pregnancies!
ReplyDeleteI need advice,
ReplyDeleteDo you all like the off-white or black rose chiffon tee? Is the off-white see-through? I don't want to have to wear a cami underneath. Does it's sheerness compare to the off-white candy tees? I wonder which one is more versatile.
Thanks for your input!
Thank you FabulousFloridaMommy! Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll give the store look, hoping to find some jackets and tees.
ReplyDeleteThe weather sounds perfect to me! Thanks again for your help!
Argyle, I have the off-white and have not found it to be see through. HTH!
ReplyDeleteEverything I want is sold out in my size... :`(
ReplyDeleteI went to the Westfield Center SF store ~ it is large and had alot, also had men's and children's stuff; I haven't been to the Stonestown one, so I can't say.
ReplyDeleteI hit up a few J.Crew stores today. Not much there, everything was pretty picked over.
ReplyDeleteWhoever was looking for the Herringbone Bella Blazer at the outlets, I saw a few at the Vacaville, CA store. I saw black, grey, and camel. They were 80% off of $178.
Jennifer- I have three kids, and I lived in Isabella Oliver. I really like Cadeau as well. I had one pair of white Paige Premium jeans that I never took of. They looked good from beginning to end! If you check babystyle.com, they carry Cadeau and have some good deals. Homme Mummy makes Isabella Oliver style clothes but with a thicker fabric. Sadly, I don't have any cheap ideas for you. I went cheap for the first pregnancy, and felt like a cow. I bought great stuff for the others, and felt like a million bucks (well, a cow wrapped in a million bucks!).
ReplyDeletethe white version of the rose tee is of champagne color. If that is white, it is a deep white, so not see-through.
ReplyDeleteLove ya!
ReplyDeleteAfter a few phone calls, I did find the light blade candy tee. Yay! I spoke with a very nice SA who found it in an obscure pile somewhere in the store, and seemed very pleased herself to find the last size L for me. I must say, J.Crew does have some very nice SAs!
I know that my transaction is so minimal, but I hope that J.Crew and Mickey do recognize how this blog supports sales of J.Crew! Thanks so much to Alexis, FFM, Silver Lining, and so many others who support!
THANKS!!
Athena
The coat I would like to try is on-line only ( Lucinda in ivory), s I won't be taking advantage of this offer.
ReplyDeleteRe: Candy Tees, I have one in Light Blade ( congrats on getting one, Athena!!) and I downsized for it just as I do for most J Crew tees. Fits fine across the shoulders, quality is good, comparable to the rest of the tees I acquire from J Crew in a past ear.Wore it couple of times already, holds shape well.
Just got back from my B&M. Still lots of the Quinn Cami ($19.99) - mostly in the Pale Almond. I have the Bria Cami in Champagne arriving on Monday. If I don't like it I am going to pick up the Quinn instead.
ReplyDeleteHad lots of colors/sizes of the Ruffle Tank at $34.50. I also have this on its way - but paid the $19.99 + JINGLE discount. The prices varies so much between on-line in store.
The only thing I picked up was the mirror metallic belt in gold for around $9.
Hi Slastena!
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoy looking at your blog. I love your daily outfit pics! I look forward to seeing one daily. I love how you are creative with color.
Good luck on your ivory coat search! I have an ivory peacoat that I LOVE! I have a similar struggle with coats. I find that so many coats make me look shapeless. Finding a high-quality coat that defines the waist and looks "special" is difficult. Good luck!
Athena
candy tee-
ReplyDeleteYes-I have that shoulder problem and I have broad shoulders. I ear a small and I did end up trying on more than 2 to find one that didn't poke up at the shoulders so I know exactly of what you are speaking of! Try more and you will find one that works-so cute!

ReplyDeleteJust got back from my local B&M. I scored Alessia patent peep toe at $51, Skinny crystal garden bracelet at $36, and Quinn cami in olive at $14 today combining 20% off and a $25 off card. As for shoes, usually this shop only carries flats and sandals, but I saw some heels today (returned items?). Also there were lots of new & resort items.
ReplyDeleteAlessia patent-leather peep toes $69.99 (wild rose, 7.5 only)
Crackle metallic mary jane heels $149 (metallic paisley, 7.5? only)
Skinny crystal garden bracelet $49 (bright fuchsia)
Quinn cami $19.99 (almost all colors)
Maggie Jacket $179 (Heather Nickel size 6, Camel size 6)
Wide patent leather belt $12
Double serge skirt (bronze, size 12 or 10??)
Featherweight merino glass-botton cardigan $49.99 (champagne)
Merino rose cardigan $49.99 (plum, white, pewter, white, navy, camel, black)
Merino turtleneck $39.99 (champagne, beige, pink, yellow, almost all color)
Tissue tuxedo front top $29.99 (champagne, black and white in M, L)
Sherpa hoodie $39.99 (gray etc)
Lots of cardigans, pajamas & tees
Tights $6.99
Carmel CA (831 624 2803)
Naomi - congrats on the garden bracelet! I love that bracelet so much. What color did you get?
ReplyDeleteKate, Thank you for your comment! Mine is bright fuchsia. How about yours? This bracelet goes with anything:)
ReplyDeleteNaomi - I have not gotten it yet. I was going to order it with my Jingle order but it was back ordered until January. How would you describe the fuschia - it looked a little more coral in the catalog from what I can remember. Very pretty.
ReplyDeletewow naomi! lucky steal getting that crystal garden bracelet for only $36?! aren't those supposed to be like $75? im so jealous!
ReplyDeleteKate: Actually it is more like coral than fuschia. Although it looks brighter in the catalog, it is almost the same color as shown in the catalog. I agree with you: this is so pretty! Hope yours will arrive soon!
ReplyDeleteAshley: St already posted (5:32 PM) that she bought this bracelet at 49.99 + 20% off in NJ. So maybe your local B&M carries this bracelet at the same price. I hope the online will mark down too. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let people know that I ordered on the 10th w/HOHOHO...and my package was allegedly shipped on the 13th (though it took forever to get a confirm number, i dont know why, every other place I've shopped online sends one immediately after I've ordered...even the little guys). Of course, like most people know, the tracking numbers don't ever work, and when you ask they tell you it won't be able to be tracked (why do they say you can track it, if they know you can't?)
ReplyDeleteIt's been 7 days...and the package was shipped USPS..i'm assuming firstclass/priority which is usually 3 days for small mail, 4-7 days at max for big mail, even in the holiday season..and now they've told me (after i asked) that they think it should come by the 29th, or that it's lost, because they can't track it and don't know where it is. I'm really disappointed because I purposely ordered early enough (dec 10th isn't cutting it close..it's 2 week before christmas). And they don't even say as much as a "sorry" but a "too bad for you."
I know I've read comments of people saying they've received their hohoho shipments quickly and in a timely manner...and I wish I also did. I've been really courteous in my emails to them, but sometimes I think threatening and being angry works better in getting proactive cust. service...ack. Sorry I wrote a book. I love J. Crew but I feel the need to quit it because this just irritates me.
ca,
ReplyDeleteim sorry about your problem. all of my packages were sent by UPS not usps so im not sure why yours was.
usually the jcrew process is that you make an order (they give you some amount of time to cancel), they release your order, they process it (takes a couple days or so), and then they ship it out. on the day they ship it out (it leaves their place) they give you a tracking number. from that day onward that tracking number should work.
i'd try calling again because you might get a different rep that actually knows what they are doing and will help you.
i cant imagine how angry you must be. i hope it all works out though!
J.Crew Aficionada, i have been reading your blog forever, and i love it! I finally just got a blog of my own, so i'm able to comment you.
ReplyDeleteAt least 15 sketchbook rose skirts (whatever the name is) at Natick today : )
ReplyDeleteI bought the Ava interlock dress in bright fuschia and a skinny black patent belt to go with it. I was thinking of getting a light gray cardigan to go over it since I think black cardigan, black belt would be overkill. Any other color combo ideas?
ReplyDeletenever seen children's things at JCrew Westfield Center and I go there all the time....men's stuff, yes, but never crewcuts.....just curious what was spotted there that might have been children's wear...
ReplyDeletebleh went to the new haven store; everything was more expensive than online or the same. they had a few melanie cuff-button cardigans (39.99), glass-button cardigans, leas, peacoats (179.99) one small and many many mediums in black, those bead tissue tees (19.99), other candy/tissue tees (29.99), tissue sequin tanks in champagne in small and large (19.99), cambridge cables (49.99), some new resort stuff, lots of cords (29.99-49,99), all with the 20% off obvi
ReplyDeletere: rose tee, the champagne is not too see-through, but the black is definitely slimming and opaque. The champagne color looks great under a dark blazer (like the ecole in navy); the black looks very chic with a white blazer and jeans. hth!
ReplyDeleteim dying to buy a cambridge crewneck in light spearmint but none of my stores have it....and its soldout online..i know this belongs in the seek and find, but did anyone happen to see it in their b/m?
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I'm angry, I'm just irritated at excuses. USPS should ship anywhere in the US within 7 days. USPS delivers on Saturdays, so why is it that they're saying December 29th is when I'll probably receive it by? It reminds me of back in June (?) when the website was first having issues. All they keep telling me is...lies and sad excuses, that UPS and FEDEX only deliver within 4-7 days, that USPS takes 10 days (i'm sorry, but when has USPS taken 10 days, really?) I am really just banning myself from J. Crew. I have to upgrade myself w/a company that has an idea of what service is--and that can function. ugh.
ReplyDeletehi ca,
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean. Please do not take how jcrew treated by jcrew seriously and personally. I learned that this was the only way I can keep shopping at jcrew. Learn to play with jcrew instead. Do not count on everything and take advantages of every mistakes they made.
Back to the issue you are experiencing. Many usps packages I sent in the past week didn't have tracking information until the day they were delivered. I remembered that I received an email from usps saying that they had problems with its system. I think you will have a better idea when you package will be delivered if you know when jcrew sent it. Call them and find an exact date. The SA may not want to take the time to find this out for you. however, if you insist on this, they can find other people who can see the exact date.
Uh, yea, the peacock jacket is meant to be a holiday piece not something for the office. Mine fit great and will be wearing it to party in not work in....It is very verstile with all the colors in it...I have the skirt as well...beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteanon @ 9:15 pm - Thanks so much for your suggestions! I def. will be looking into those. Haha. Yes. A cow wrapped in a million bucks is still a ton better than just a cow :)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the sherpa-lined wellies? was wondering how comfortable and warm they are...
ReplyDeleteOT...
ReplyDeletei have a jamie bag in dark cloud, $260 shipped, if anyone wants it. otherwise it's going back to the store.
also have a merino sequin chiffon shell, putty xs, $160 shipped. also going back if i don't hear from anyone.
email mschwoer17 AT yahoo DOT com.
sorry, OT again...
ReplyDeletei'm looking for the double serge pencil skirt, size 2, in ivory or bronzed ochre (or both)! i have both colors in 4P that i could trade or i would buy straight up from you.
mschwoer17 AT yahoo DOT com. thanks!
AppGal: I have the sherpa-lined wellies and like them. They're as comfy as J.Crew's other wellies (if you're familiar with how those feel). The sherpa lining + warm socks would keep my feet warm in the winter in the Midwest, but I can't talk about wearing them for extended periods outside. :)
ReplyDeleteMy only complaint about J.Crew wellies is that they come a little high on me, but I'm 5'3.
I just got tracking numbers for 2 "MERRY" orders I placed on Friday and it looks like they are being shipped with FedEx and 'Standard Overnight' delivery ... was that part of the deal with that code? I'm pretty pumped either way ... should be here tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is looking for plum peacoats - there is a small without lining and a large with lining available online!
ReplyDeleteLindsay-yes, they upgrade free for Christmas-nice eh?! I don't believe they advertise this though.
ReplyDeleteCA-
ReplyDeleteSuch a HUGE frustration for u! I am sorry to hear of this situation. Also, JC is offering you lackluster CS. My advice to you is 1) I would be calling, not emailing. 2) I have never recv'd a USPS package from JC, ever. I have ordered so many times it is frightening to mention and orders all come UPS or FedEx so this alone is disturbing. I know the site mentions it will come one of three ways and USPS is one of them. Which means they must use it sometimes-not sure why, though. 3) Have them do a "we will find it" and overnight it to you-ASAP. That's the least they can offer and you will need to speak with a supervisor. Call in and ask for one directly-they need to get a move on with your order--two weeks is plenty of time--now you gotta have it. HTH
Vicky, are you sure the Bellas were 80% off? At my factory store they are 60% off and then 20% off...that's almost a $25 difference.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of AFTER Christmas sale does JC have?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is the person just added the 60% + 20% and thought that would equal actually getting 80% off the originial price, not 20% off the 60%-off original price. It seems a common mistake ... helps explain why the U.S. lags behind so many other countries in math skills. Not only are children being left behind, adults are, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, maybe that's what happened. I guess the Lottery is in business for a reason. ;-)
ReplyDeleteanon @11:48 AM - why be mean for a common mistake? Vicky didn't have to report back from her store at all, but she did to be nice. Why can't we all do the same and be nice?
ReplyDeleteI just had a gift card sent to me via USPS. Every other J.Crew package I've ever received came via UPS or FedEx. Strange. Maybe J.Crew is trying to save money on shipping?
ReplyDeleteadding 60 and 20 to get 80% off isn't a common mistake for anyone who graduated high school.
ReplyDeleteWhat's weird is I had gift cards that were comp to lots of problemss sent to me last week and they all came in separate BOXES via FedEx.
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste of packaging.
I don't think they will do another online promotion until after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe only way the would do another promotion is if they had a "one day" promotion tomorrow since that's the last day to order with overnight delivery. But then again I don't think that will happen because they don't want to be overloaded with orders. And not that many people looking for discounts would order on the last day of the deadline. Since they make money off of shipping, they would want to make as much money from the procrastinators as possible!
ReplyDeleteusps priority delivers package faster than ups does if you are on west coast.
ReplyDeleteanon 12:29: Guess you majored in rudeness? It was an oversight let is be.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is looking for the candy t shirts they had a bunch in all of the different colors and different sizes at the store in Omaha, Nebraska yesterday. The phone number is 4022892942. Ask for Sarah - she's great!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIt's hardly mean to point out that it's a common mistake - nor is it mean to point out the fact that the U.S. does lag behind many countries in math & science. I think it's mean of you to berate someone for explaining why something isn't 80% off, but rather 20% off a 60% reduced item.
ReplyDeleteHow are the candy tees for quality - it seems some people have mentioned a proneness to holes?
ReplyDeleteI have gotten several packages as well as gift cards shipped via USPS from JCrew over the past 3 years. That is not an issue at all...
ReplyDeleteI'm not complaining, it just surprised me. I've been ordering for a decade, and this was my first USPS-delivered J.Crew item.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is meant to be fun and entertaining. So let's try to keep the comments here positive. I also think we can learn a lot from each other. Let's try to keep it that way! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have been known to make a common mistake in math and spelling now and then too. :)

ReplyDeleteCascading flowers bouclé Astrid jacket
$425.00 item 99457
Avail in Ivory size 10 right now if anyone is seeking-gotta have:)

ReplyDeleteHas anyone had the desire to try on at their store (for fun or because they actually needed them to get out of their miserably cold state;)..the resort wear city fit trouser pants with wide legs. They look kinda wrinkled-darling in soft pink. Just curious about fit and if they are fab on??
kitch7: I also received mine by USPS last week for the turkey screwup, previously I received mine by FEDEX. I guess JC wanted to cut costs since they had to send out so many due to the TURKEY orders mess.
ReplyDeleteRe: Candy Tees- I do not have any problems with the quality, I have washed and worn them with no problems.
bugpin -
ReplyDeleteI tried on some pants in store..I THINK they were the twisted cotton terrace pants (is this what you mean? item 99707). I know they were resort, wrinkled trousers...
anyway. I tried on the honey brown & found them very TTS and comfortable...but did not buy them because overall they seemed a little bit "frumpy" on me. Maybe because I had a sweater on...would probably look cuter with dressier shoes and a cute top. I liked them..but not enough to pay full price. Would probably look less like "old wrinkled khakis" in another color. Anyone else?
Anon @ 11:55 a.m. and 1:34 p.m. today, thanks for trying to keep this board civil. I really enjoy reading this board, but it's such a drag to have to slog through the posts where people are attacking one another. I guess the US not only lags behind the rest of the world in math and reading skills, but in common civility to one another.
ReplyDeleteITA about the rudeness, and nitpicking, like some are looking for reasons to criticize or question. Who cares? I think we all understand what the % discount was, and don't really care. Must you prove how smart you are, or how someone else made a mistake, sheesh, get a life.
ReplyDelete^Maybe you should take your own advice. Let's keep this blog on topic.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we're going to see any more on-line specials until after Christmas.
I was 'on topic' if you look above you'll see that this was a topic, one of several, but, ya just proved the very point...
ReplyDelete^As have you. Hence the danger of throwing stones when residing in a glass house.
ReplyDeleteThanks for info on candy tees - sometimes I'm unsure of J.crew's quality, and I hate buying crappily made products.
ReplyDeleteI visited the Indianapolis store this week 317-848-2739. They had the maple high heel Glenbrae boots in sizes 7-8 for $159.99 less 20%. I also saw lots of the dusty rose peep toe heels in various sizes. I saw some Juliets. I saw some size 10 platinum silver Mary Janes for $99.99 less 20%. They also had them in the flat version, size 10 I think. I saw some Lizzie driving mocs and some other flats. Best to ask what sale shoes they have in your size. I simply can't remember all they had. I saw lots of mohair scarves. Deep persimmon and ochre serge skirts in smaller sizes. Long sleeve cotton button down shirts with a chiffon ruffle thing around the neckline. Lots of merino turtlenecks in the yellows, oranges and hazelnut. I saw metallic camis, gobs of the sweet ruffle tops. I thought I saw one poppy cashmere Peyton dress. One size 8 olive velvet ecole jacket and a pink flower Astrid boucle jacket. I saw some of the wool astrid jackets in orange and black. I saw a blue patent tote bag and a quilted one in grey I think. One odile mushroom bag for $199.99 less the 20% discount. Lots of Quinn silk tops for $19.99 less 20%. There were still many sequin crest tees and a number of the sequin henley tees as well as 120s wool dresses in the purple and black colors. There was much more but I can't remember all. The best deal I thought were the Quinn camis and the Glenbrae boots considering they're so much more online. Hurry!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if shipping from a store charges the same as shipping from the website prices?
ReplyDeleteLS-that's the ones! I just noticed them (after I had already posted) in the "new arrivals." I was just curious as the pink were pretty IRL-thanks for the feedback.
ReplyDeleteAnon-Indy store--you didn't happen to notice if they had serengeti/leopard juliets, did you?TIA!
OK, look ladies. We all know that life after highschool is still highschool. The nerds will always be the nerds and the best dressed, most likely to get laid, cheerleaders...well, they just aren't that bright. Pretty, but not bright.
ReplyDeleteNow don't get your feathers all ruffled here, pretty girls, some of you are somewhat smart, with high school equivalent diplomas, GED's, AA's, GE's, online degree/diplomas, Bryanman's, vocationally educated, and some even married well...and are now bored out of their minds on their way down from being hot moms.
No one is knocking you that hard, just make sure you spell check, math check, and grammatically check it all, so that the nerds that grew up to be beautiful and successful people don't feel the need to relive highschool and beat you up here.
^ALEXIS-please get rid of the immature comment above and everyone else ignore it so that we can get onto J CREW.
ReplyDeleteQuestion for any & all aficionadas: Have you ever phoned in an order & not had it show up under your account on-line? I ordered something last night, but the order doesn't appear in my order history...I don't know if it's because it's the weekend, but OTOH, it's nearly Christmas, so one would think they'd be working around the clock ...
ReplyDeleteNo offense, bug pin, but that post was hilarious - I wouldn't take it seriously :-)
ReplyDeleteyes, that happens a lot... if i don't order online, it doesn't show up on my account online
ReplyDeleteTia, The Indy store had only one pair of the Juliet serengeti pumps two days ago, but it's a size 10.
ReplyDeleteMelissa: The ochre skirt was a 10 I think.
anon at 3:53 PM: Thanks so much! I did get an order # from the CSR, so at least I have that - I just thought it might be entered into my online account, too.
ReplyDeletesydney-no offense taken. i didn't see it that way-I felt it a waste of reading time, IMO.
ReplyDeleteAnon-thanks for serengeti feedback:)
Hey Sydney- Thanks for the positive feedback. I think most of the ladies (like our friend bug-pin) here just need to relax. Go have an orgasm and a glass of wine. Life seems too stressful for some. Happy Holidays, my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteTo Bugpin Re: Resort Wear:
ReplyDeleteI tried on a rain jacket, one in navy & one in khaki. I really liked it because it was not cropped, and it was belted. At $178 I'm waiting for it to go on sale & get it as a spring/fall rain jacket. (I say jacket instead of coat because it is definitely a light weight jacket.) I have not seen the jacket on the website yet. Have you?
sydney: The phone order will show up on your online acct., and you'll receive an email confirmation...maybe not before you receive the order but you should get all the same info., just like a web order. :)
ReplyDeletesydney, it is normal. some of my phone orders did not show up on my online account, some did show up, others showed up but washed away my online orders. A SA explained a bit to me last week about this. She said when they placed a phone order for us, they could not place under the email addresses we filed for our accounts. They had to create psydo email addresses for phone orders. I guess some SAs know how to get around the problem without interrupting our account history, some SAs do not know. Thus, they either leave the phone orders out of our online account or reset our online account history.
ReplyDeleteLillie-
ReplyDeleteI have not seen that one but someone else was commenting how cute it was in an earlier post.
"Go have an orgasm and a glass of wine" - I wish I'd found Christmas cards with that message inside. Boy, would that have been differnt from the standard "Happy Holidays" greeting :-)
ReplyDeleteLillie - thanks! So long as I get the items, I don't care if J.Crew keeps a record of the order on a stone tablet :-)
Oops, meant to say "different" - I was laughing too hard.
ReplyDeleteanon at 4:06 PM: That just sounds loony! I swear, J.Crew makes this so much more difficult than it should be.
Sydney, I have a feeling in real life, you and I would be great friends. LOL.
ReplyDeleteAlexis:
ReplyDeleteHave you seen this little bit about JCrew's site being down during the Holidays? Your site is mentioned again. Sorry if this is a duplicate notification! :)

The way the world is..., you're a cool cat. Happy Holidays.

ReplyDeleteI have found that JC stores charge the same or about the same to ship as online does. If you're ordering from a store directly, I would suggest double-checking your address with the person on the phone (I've had two pkgs from two diff stores get shipped to the wrong address) and ask for a tracking number. They may have to call you back with it (or an mgr can email you), but this is the only way you'll have to keep track of it, as it won't show up in your online acct. You could also ask for the transaction number on the receipt. I suggest all these things as there seems to be a lot more room for error when sending from a store (at least in my experience). HTH!
sydney:
ReplyDeletethat often happens to me with phone orders too for the same reason as anon @4:06 explained. but you should be able to track your order by clicking on 'Order Status' (to the left of 'My Account') and entering the order # and your zip code. HTH!
*anon @ 3:35*
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on all the goodies at the Indy store! I just tried for the dusty rose peep-toes and they didn't have my size, unfortunately.
I'm looking for a size 7 if anyone sees them! TIA!
Oh, rats! I checked my order using my order no. and came up blank... so then I called CS, and guess what? They have no record of my order. I got an order no. (which apparently shows nothing), I got a total last night ... and all the bimbo who I talked to could say was "I'm not sure what happened," repeating this 10 times. Way to take care of customers, J.Crew :-(\
ReplyDeleteOh, and of course the items are no longer available!

ReplyDeleteOne reason why the US has lower than expected math statistics is partially attributed to language. We have a 4-6 second memory loop as a result of the pattern of the Engl language. People of countries with tonal languages have a 10 second memory loop. Also, the way math (I.e. fractions)is described in various languages is less difficult than the US. To learn more and generalize less, try reading The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.
sydney: CS should have created an Action about your experience to their IT dept, it would not have brought back your order unfortunately but it might have prevented it from happening again. CS should have also compensated you in some way as well. I would call back and ask to speak to a Supervisor.
ReplyDeleteI just wrote them an e-mail detailing everything and expressing my discontent. We'll see what happens.
ReplyDeleteDoes the Astrid Berry jacket still exist? it's not on line but wonder if anyone has seen it in the store???? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSydney: When I phone in my orders, they sometimes don't show on my online account order history. I later found out that I have three accounts in the JC system. They got created when I ordered online and also called in, and the last was based on an educator's email. They can't delete the two extraneous accounts or merge them for some strange reason, and I've given up trying. To make sure my orders show whenever I phone in an order, I would give them an old (online) order and ask them to reference that and go from them.
ReplyDeleteThere;s an Astrid berry in P4 on the website now. This morning I also got two cords in faded cement that was sold out sometime back.
ReplyDeleteAstrid berry P4 in plum available online now. I notice that JC's online inventory is more accurate and streamlined now. As soon as you place an item in your shopping cart, the item is off the inventory count. And no more shortshipped items, phew!
ReplyDeleteAnon at 5:25, I believe you are thinking of goldfish. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, why are students in the U.S. still worse at math than students in other English-speaking countries?
I placed three orders using MERRY on Friday past the holiday shipping deadline, but JC is sending them to me via overnight shipping!
ReplyDeletecorrection - the orders were placed last night. I'll be receiving them tomorrow!
ReplyDeletecan anyone suggest a buyer/site that might have the pave hingled bangle for sale? I was hoping they would make it to sale and then I purcahse 2. Thx
ReplyDelete*smarty
ReplyDeletei came across a pair of dusty rose spectator peep toes size 7 and put them on hold under the name "marie" at the boston copley store. 617 236 5950
hope they work out for you.
I was tempted to buy a pair of JCrew Dauphine metallic T-strap sandals item 94442 for $59.99 + shipping. I decided to search around first & ended up reading about "Bernardo" shoes. I ordered two pairs of shoes from Bernardo.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone purchased shoes from them before? Please tell me if they're comfortable. I'm very excited about my order!
Let's see, Sally orders 2 pairs of shoes from Bernardo's, and Selma orders 3 pairs from JCrew. Who ordered more shoes? Just kidding...all this talk of math. Can you tell from my simplest of simple math problem I was educated in the public school system of the good ol' USofA!! ;)
Bought a Sherpa hoodie for mom at the stonestown SF store and the associate took the 20% off then asked if I was a student and took another 15% off. Just FYI maybe some stores will combine the discount.
ReplyDelete*suilove*
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! I will call them first thing in the morning (assuming they are closed by now?). I hope they are still there!! THANK YOU AGAIN!
letitia - they aren't j crew but nordstrom has great pave bangles - the nadri brand. HTH
ReplyDeleteDina - do you know what size sherpa hoodies they had left? I am looking for a L or XL since they run small, and what colors they had? TIA!
ReplyDeleteJCAficionada Mentioned: Thank you so much for letting me know about that link! :) That is pretty cool!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate...they're cheaper too!!!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone think they'll do a promo tomorrow a.m. for last minute shopping?
ReplyDelete*smarty,
ReplyDeleteno prob. i put them on hold tonight so they should be there tomorrow.
i'm also desperately looking for them...spectator peep toes, dusty rose 6.5 or perfect patent pumps in same color, same size...since they didn't come with my order=(
please let me know if anyone sees them anywhere!=)
Has anyone seen any merino rose cardigans (size medium) in any of the B&M stores in the plum or camel color?
ReplyDeleteJennifer: Regarding prego jeans... I love love love my Paige Premium Denim maternity jeans AND Rock and Republic maternity jeans ... I could never find jeans I liked this much when I wasn't prego ... try them!! (I definitely sized up 1 size for comfort!)
ReplyDeleteBernardo? -
ReplyDeleteI love my Bernardos Matrix enough to get 5 different colors. They are much more comfortable than the J Crew capris when you break them in. But they don't have any arch support, so people who need them may be disappointed. Be careful though, some styles with the plain leather soles are very slippery.
Steph: they had brown and Ivory. I got my mom a L and they had some left of each color.
ReplyDeleteThe J.crew in arden fair in sacramento had one last atlantic blue in a L but that was on friday, you can call and check.
I am already wondering what is going to happen the day after Christmas. I'll be there first thing with my gift card in hand. I have my eye on a coat and there is only one left in my size in the store. So, I am hoping for a great percent off sale or outerwear!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah everyone!

ReplyDeleteLindsey B. - Thanks for the suggestion! You're the second one (on this post) to recommend the Paige jeans. It definitely will be something I'm going to try!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if J.Crew will ever come out with a maternity line... if they do, it will probably be after I'm done having kids. Haha. Such is life.
If Im going to a factory store do I have to print out this email and show it to them? or is everything in the store already an additional 20% off?
ReplyDeleteThe 20% off everything was automatic at my factory store.
ReplyDeletein case anyone is looking for the favorite fit boot cut cords, the arden fair store has brown, grey, navy in nearly every single size (including short). they're 39.99 then 20% off.
ReplyDeleteDo you think they will do any additional online promotions in the next couple of days? I was going to get the Rebecca long dress for a ball at my school, and I'm hoping I can get an additional percentage off.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm a little nervous about purchasing a dress like this online. Do J. Crew gowns usually fit like the size chart says?
Thanks for your help!
