"Thanks!" to many of you, including Rosie (in this post) , as well as Anon at 12:50 AM, Anon at 12:59 AM, & Beachbum (in this post), who let us know about J.Crew's latest promotion. :)
J.Crew is offering *free shipping* on any order {no min} with promo code HURRY. This offer expires 12/19/08.
Side Note (in case anyone got confused like myself): I initially thought the offer included "an additional 60% off" sale items. However, upon closer review, J.Crew is just stating that some sale items are reduced "up to 60% off" from their original prices. :)
Are you planning to take advantage of this offer, or wait a bit longer (for better deals), or avoid shopping online (e.g. prefer to shop at their B&M stores)? :)
I did a mock order it took off the fs, but it did not apply the 60% on the sale items.
ReplyDeleteI will not be purchasing anything more, great deal though.
Free shipping is not enough for me. I am looking for extra %off. Hopefully after this one runs. Now new markdowns either.
ReplyDeleteI won't be ordering anything else, and it really doesn't appear as if there are anymore reductions from yesterday...at least not on the items I checked on. In fact, some of the prices have increased since yesterday!
ReplyDeleteCasual-crew: the promo is not 60%, J.crew is just saying that some items are marked up to 60% of already. So the only "promo" is the free shipping.
ReplyDeleteIt's confusing the way they wrote it. :)
It's a bit misleading...the sale prices are 60% as marked, not an additional percent off.
ReplyDeleteCasual-Crew: I think the "60% off" is a bit misleading- I also initially thought they were offering "an additional 60% off" but they are really just saying some items are "60% off" original prices.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 7:01AM: I know what you mean! :) Although I am really *happy* about the free shipping code with no min, I think I have been spoiled by all the recent "additional percent off" offers, and was expecting to see one for today too. ;)
FFM: I never understood why J.Crew would increase sale prices (or how they figured out when to increase them). I understand promotional prices going back to the original price (because that was a temporary offer), but not sale prices increasing. :)
Yeah, the Claudia heels are now back up to $198 (full price), after being on sale for about a month. Very odd - I wonder if they just take a look at what's selling well, then just hike the price and see if they still have any takers? So weird!
ReplyDeleteI wrote in response to the "30% ends today post", the "up to 60% off" is lame, cause most of the stuff has already BEEN "up to 60% off"! FS/NM is cool, but the things that are still left in the sale section are not appealing enough at their marked prices. Maybe JC is trying to attract last-minute shoppers that don't normally buy from them (and therefore, haven't been watching the prices like JCA's)? If I didn't regularly shop here, I'd think that $39.99 for a $125.00 sweater was a good deal. That being said, I don't know if there will be another big discount, since the window for receiving holiday deliveries closes in 3 days. Maybe there will be a big discount on Saturday (for all the things nobody wants!). :)
OT, but has anyone hand washed their hammered silk tanks? How did they turn out? I didn't realize the tag said dry clean only when I bought it
ReplyDeleteIleila I haven't washed mine yet but only because I haven't worn it! I didn't realize it was going to look so odd tucked into things with the zipper running down the side. I thought I would wear it with skinny jeans and leave it hanging out but each time I put it on I end up changing because it doesn't fall right on me. What have you been wearing with it?
ReplyDeleteAnon at 7:41am, I haven't worn mine yet either! I'm debating keeping it, depending on whether I can hand wash it or not. If it truly is "dry clean only" I'll probably end up returning it-I just never make it to the dry cleaners. It is a shame though, because I truly love it.
ReplyDeleteIf I do keep it, I plan to wear it with dark wash bootcut/skinny jeans, and a fitted cardigan. I would wear it untucked. I find that fitted cardis look best over loose/blousy tops to keep from looking too loose/shapeless.
Yes I did take advantage of this and got the Dream Silvie Sweater Dress. I am very happy about this promotion.
ReplyDeleteOops my mistake, thanks for letting me know.
ReplyDeleteNow one of bug pins are finally on sales:)
ReplyDeleteI'm with FFM - none of the prices have actually dropped from what they were before. Besides, I've got way too many things to return before I'll allow myself any more purchases. Probably just as well to take some time off...unless, of course, the Alessia flats I've ordered twice before (and not gotten) happen to show up again.
ReplyDeleteAs an FYI: I wash most of my J.Crew silk in the delicate cycle of the washer. There are several websites that tell you which silks can be washed safely in the washer and which ones cannot.
ReplyDeleteWow, I am soooo glad I ordered the victoria ruffle cami in fuschia yesterday in my size (6), bec. it is totally sold out now. So is size 4, in fuschia and navy. Don't think I'm gonna order anymore online stuff for now. I suspect the B/M will get lots of returns from the online orders, so, prob good to checkout the B.M.
ReplyDeleteI too was confused by this offer. I am done shopping, however, until after Christmas. I seriously hope that EVERYONE on my list loves J Crew as much as I do because, due to excellent sales, they are all getting it for Chirstmas (for example, I got my sister THREE Tartine cardis for $15 each!). On a side note, my 16 year old wore a pair of the J Crew men's duck boots yesterday to play football in the snow, they were lined with Thinsulate, and his feet never got wet or cold! Highly recommend.
ReplyDeleteI looked throughout the sale section and didn't buy anything, how discouraging. I couldn't find anything in a colour or size I wanted or that I could convince myself I needed. I wish the intial picture shown was in the the colour available. Too often I get 'tricked' and click only to find the great blue colour in my size is sold out and only an orange or red is possible.
ReplyDeleteSeems like J.Crew is listening and offering some great deals and free shipping. The single biggest beef with so many is the shipping and now we have free shipping.
Looks like myself like many of you will be waiting for new items to be added.
I feel like this promo is geared toward shoppers who don't get on the website daily and are looking for last minute gifts... not us 'aficionada(o)s' since we all know the sale section is basically what it was yesterday (at least so far this morning!) and this is no amazing deal compared to recent promos! That said - if you still need a gift and you HAVE to order it from online, you ARE running out of time!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI tried the JINGLE code at 8:30 am, and it worked. My total went from somthing like 350 (with shipping and taxes) to 235.15! WOW! I went ahead and bought the cashmere dress in medium and golden cypress because it went from 218 to 59.99 and then after the JINGLE to 41.99. Yowza! I don't know if they will continue to allow people to use the JINGLE all day but it definitely worked for me as of one hour ago...
ReplyDeleteShimmer Peacock Maggie just went on sale!!!
ReplyDeleteSale is updated and prices slashed on many items!! Hooray!
ReplyDeleteOT- can anyone , please, comment on the fit of Cherie cami? I am full chested , shoud I order TTS or still size down. I got Vicotria cami in 4 and Elizabeth in XS. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm not being tempted with this code... I think I'm all bought-out with J. Crew. Still awaiting a package that is lost, although their system shows that UPS did deliver it. It was just after the TURKEY code so I'm not sure what happened. Have never had a missing item or shipment before.
ReplyDeleteHappy shopping, though!
Thos who commented earlier that prices have not been cut and that there is no new merchandise should look again. Prices on many items are lower and a few new coats, blaxer and sweaters have been added since earlier this morning.
ReplyDeleteSlastena, I found the Cherie to be TTS, and wouldn't have been able to size down because it would've been tight in the underarms. Since you're full-chested (I am SO not!), I'd recommend ordering your normal size. HTH!
ReplyDeletecan someone tell me which items were market down? Why didn't I see any?
ReplyDeleteTHE site is running super duper slow.
ReplyDeleteSome items are marked down by $10 or so (Kelsey dress is now $49, which was $59 and previously $69 (when I got it, wah). I love it in black, btw.
ReplyDeleteJust purchased the Dream Silvie in heather charcoal, hope I get it since it's backordered until 12/25! For $43, the price is right.
The site is soooooo slow!
ReplyDeleteSlastena AND Anony@9:14,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up about the p. jacket now on sale. I just bought it and the JINGLE code still worked! You guys rock for posting these tidbits.
OT - here's an interesting article about the house JC used in their Palm Springs shoot:
ReplyDeletehttp://online.wsj.com/article/SB122693744559033581.html?mod=igoogle_wsj_gadgv1
This worked out great for me. I bought two pairs of grey ribbed tights in small/medium. My store was out of them so it was nice to get them online with free shipping.
ReplyDeleteThe site is so annoying...OMG could it run any slower...
ReplyDeletequestion on exchanges?
ReplyDeletei got a coat using jingle at a great price but it turns out that its too big and i need a smaller size which they have in stock but not very many. so when i called to do the exchange, the CS wouldn't give it to me at the price i paid the original coat for...seriously frustrated..is this the norm?
Can anyone tell me how those hammered silk tanks run? I wear a small in their cardigans (jackie, tartine) and usually a 2 in their blouses. Some of their more flowy t-shirts I have to go with an XS. Should I get a 0 or a 2? TIA :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the site is going to go down since it seems to be running slow?
ReplyDeleteI am still seething at the fact that I could not place my Jingle order last night. I tried all during the last hour of the sale and could never ever check out. I wrote to Customer SErvice during that time asking for the courtesy of placing that order today. I get it that during the last 10 minutes, the site might be inaccessible. But for the entire hour? And it was a big order. Money in my pocket not theirs!
ReplyDeleteOT- I received my patent leather Alessia maryjane's in Wild Rose. I tried on the peep-toes at b&m and remember them being more pink. Is it just me or do they appear to be more of a coral than a pink color? I wanted to see if anyone else noticed if there's a difference between the peep-toe Wild Rose and the maryjane Wild Rose--or did I tried on a different pair of shoes in Wild Rose altogether and they were a completely different color (the Spectator peep toes?)! Argh!
ReplyDeletesuilove,
ReplyDeleteNO, you got a bad CS rep. Try again. I just called and placed and exchange order for a top this a.m. and they honored the price I paid for it which is less than online now.
Try try again. Let me know.
Julie
What is everyone's take on the peacock maggie? I am waivering...the pattern almost looks floral to me. But it has potential. Advice?
ReplyDeletedidn't i say i was not going to order anything else? i did, i think. and darn it - that "JINGLE" code still works this morning. just re-bought a cashmere shell in heather graphite (item #: 97826) for $55.99 (so i can return the more expensive $84 one i just got), and the Jamie bag (item #: 97485) in black for $276.50. i won't even bother getting excited till i get the physical package in hand and have opened it. but, um, yay! or, well...i must be a glutton for pain.
ReplyDeleteOMG-site is SO slow.
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:03am-hammered silk-get a zero.
I think the hammered tank runs a little big. I got a 0 and it is a little small around the arms, but the rest of the body runs big. I think if I got a 2 the arms would fit better (or maybe even be too big), but the body might be way too big/long. Anyone else notice the same thing?
ReplyDeleteMaggie May - I could not check out starting at 3pm. I left came home and tried again at 9pm same thing. While waiting on for customer service on hold I finally put in a different email address and it worked. Clearing out my cache, nothing else worked. Very frustrating, when you just want to place an order.
ReplyDeleteJ Crew site is down!
ReplyDeleteI am still holding waiting for 40% or 50%, which will most likely be the next promo- this coming weekend or the after Christmas sale. They are trying to fool us with the 60% off headline. That is not playing nice...
ReplyDeleteAnon at 10:03 Hammered Silk Tank runs big IMO- I have a 0 in the HST and wear a M in the Jackie cardigan. Sounds like you would need a 0 for sure!
ReplyDeletesite is back up now but really, really slow. i think a lot of stuff is gone as well. i am excited about lower prices. i've only been able to skim the knits and tees and a lot of items are down at least $5 from yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWow, everyone, thanks so much for the helpful comments regarding the hammered silk tank. I'm tempted to go with the 0. I do have broad shoulders so I'm a little worried about the arm holes but if I don't size down the body probably would be too large. Thanks :) Anon at 10:03am
ReplyDeleteAnony@10:50 I have broad shoulders too but this is a tank and not a shirt or blazer so you should be fine with the smaller size. I always size down in tanks from JCrew since Aug.
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know how the dream tie-neck fits? dream usually runs big on me but on the model it looks different. any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteFYI- when you use the search bar for general descriptions such as "jacket", MUCH more comes up, and I mean more sale items that are actually in stock. There are still some great items available, just harder to find. Weird.
ReplyDeleteI just did a phone order from the store NOT using the HURRY code. Got 30% off sale items + my 15% student discount. I think this is a much better bargain.
ReplyDeleteI got the Crawford blouse in golden olive and the golden roses cherie cami. Total w/ tax and shipping was $86 and change.
If you're local B&M is doing the 30% off promo, I highly recommend using that instead of the HURRY.
Have a great day JCAs!
JaneEsq,
ReplyDeleteHow did you manage 30% and your 15% student discount on a red phone order. I was told NO just yesterday that you can't use the 15% extra with the 30%. How did you do it?
Could someone please post the special customer service phone # for cardholders? I thought it was on my card but it's not. I placed an order on the red phone on Monday, I was told that it would arrive Thurs but it's still in "open" status so I want to call and follow up. TIA!
ReplyDeleteI just palced an order (after spending over an hour on the slow sight)and used the jingle code.
ReplyDeleteI got the cashmere eva and dream tie neck for really great prices. I think they were marked down even more then yesterday.
Anon at 11:23~
ReplyDeleteI just asked:) The SA I spoke to was happy to do it and said it wouldn't be a problem. And then whomever she spoke to from CS was willing to do it as well.
I honestly think it depends on you getting the right associate. I think if you press the issue they will do it. Good luck!!
call 800-562-0258 and press 1
ReplyDeleteThree times, I've put things in my shopping cart, tried to check out, and my shopping cart is suddenly empty. Has this happened to anyone else?
ReplyDeleteJaneEsq,
ReplyDeleteThanks. I did "push" the issue and was polite and nice but I am getting no where with my PS....I need a new one.....
I just placed an order via the phone because I wanted to use my teacher discount and get free shipping. The lady was very helpful and said as a one time courtesy the educator discount. The problem is that my email address at my school ends in "org" and not "edu." I hope they will be able to honor it next time because hellllllllllo I do teach or maybe I will have to have the school modify their email system ;)
ReplyDeleteJINGLE still working:)
ReplyDeleteHello all! I've been absent from the blog for a few weeks, trying to wean myself of my nasty JC addiction. Darn this blog!!!! Such enablers on here! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOver the past two days, I have place FOUR orders....ridiculous. Just now, I used JINGLE again...it's still working (as it should be, since the site was down for half the time it was supposed to be effective!)
One of my orders has already shipped. Now...let's see if everything's in there or if they even send the right stuff! I'm sure Mickey's have a coronary over the website issues this xmas. I hope he takes some good blood pressure meds! LOL!
Trying to place an order since I'm reading that JINGLE is still working and site went down. Argh!
ReplyDeleteI recently stumbled upon this website and i agree with Leslie that there are plenty of enablers here. I have been eyeing several products for a long time and i finally broke down and ordered ton of stuff last night with the JINGLE code. i was trying to hold off for a better deal, but thought it best not to get too greedy. anyway, i'm looking forward to my shipment and here's to more deals in the coming weeks!
ReplyDeletelooks like the jcrew site is down yet again!
I just placed two orders with the hurry code...the favorite fit trouser cords in sea salt and the Silvie dress in black and heather grey. It took me forever to get both dresses in my cart and I'm not optimistic that I'll receive everything as ordered.
ReplyDeleteI just used jingle and worked! I'm so happy but, I ordered the cashmere payton dress in medium, all they had, even though I'm size XS-S... does any of you ladies know if I could maybe wash it and shrink it a bit? ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been curious about the bow necklace cardis (haven't seen them IRL since my store is out) so I went ahead and ordered the bow necklace cardi in heather wheat and navy, as well as the Linda wool/cashmere hoodie in grey for $30 each. If they don't work out at least I didn't pay for shipping. I am loving these J.Crew sales, but not the website glitches.
ReplyDeletesooo happy i was able to use jingle and take advantage of the lower prices. i noticed the older items have gone down significatnly. for example, the ruffle merino cari i purchased last week at 59.99 is now 39.99. the bow tie cardi went down as well as did the dream silvie which is now 39.99 but it's on backorder. it's worth the wait for that price plus the 30% from jingle :)
ReplyDeleteAnyone know how the sizing is on the Dream Silvie dress? I'm very tempted to get it in black. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteAnon- the last year's cashmere dresses ran small, this year, you'll be swimming in them! I just got the Peyton in a small, and I'm a 0/2...forget it, the bf said, is that a 4/6?
ReplyDeleteMine's going back...
anyone remember the min for JINGLE?
ReplyDeletesite is down AAGHHH
ReplyDeleteAnon at 12:21: The Dream Silvie runs true to size. In almost all their summer dresses, I had to size down (I'm a 10 in pants, usually took a S in the summer dresses) - but in the Silvie I took my regular size, a M.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 12:22: The min was $150.
HTH!
150$
ReplyDeleteI don't see how they could have had 52,000 online orders yesterday. there's no way. items I've been watching haven't dropped that much in stock (the ones that were already under 99) and with all the time the site was down, I just don't see how they had 52,000 online orders in one day. I would think with 52,000 orders (and most people order more than one item at a time... and if most people used jingle you needed to order multiple items) times the amount in those orders... JCrew would have MANY more items sold out and gone. These items have been hanging around forever. And we're supposed to believe that they moved at least 150,000 items from stock just from online orders in one day with the site having that many problems? I just don't know.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a JC yoga mat? They have some for $9.99 so I am tempted to try one, but I'm wondering if they are good or if JC is outside their range with this.
ReplyDeleteOh that's so sad... I'm embarrassed to say I'll have to return them then...agghh
ReplyDeleteI have a hammered silk tank in size zero and I am a 34C chest. I also wear a small in their cardigans & a 2 in their blouses. I tried on the 2 and it was too big... Hope this helps too.
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:21
ReplyDeleteWhat color is your Peyton dress? If it's red or gray, I'd be interested in buying it off of you!
I got the honey and gold colors.. :)
ReplyDeleteI just ordered the peacock jacket. If it had been final sale, I probably would have passed on it though.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, it works. And I really want the skirt too--we'll see if it goes on sale soon.
I just used JINGLE successfully!
ReplyDeleteSilver_lining;
ReplyDeletethanks so much fro the info on Cherie. Very sweet of you!dectif
Anon at 11:49~
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear that they haven't allowed you to stack discounts. Did you try ordering through the store? Since the store usually allows such stacking, maybe if you called your local B&M and asked them to do it they would do it for you? That's how I did it. Keep trying! I hope it works for you.
I love my local store, i added the bubble necklace in black (for only $59) to my order, she added and had CS WAIVE THE SHIPPING. I just called their store manager to give a glowing recommendation.
Suilove: call back that doesn't seem right.
ReplyDeleteSame thing happened to me and I was afraid the item would be out of stock by the time I got someone on the phone so while I was on the phone I ordered the coat. When a CS answered I told her I wanted to do an exchange but was afraid the item would be sold out so I just purchased it and she said that was the right thing to do and she would make sure that when it shipped out it would be for the same price as when I originally purchased the coat (which was during the 30% hohoho)
Anon- Golden Cypress in a small, it's gone, just sold it!
ReplyDeleteJINGLE all the way! And there are a few new discounts today, the Silvie Dress is now marked down to $40 ($28 with the promo).
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 12:30
ReplyDeleteHow do you check the stock of the items? I can't see how many are left of anything. Am i missing something?
try to add 99 of something to your cart, and if there are less then that available, it will tell you how many are left.
ReplyDeletedina,
ReplyDeletei know it was so weird..and i asked if she could check with a manager and she said that she was told that she couldn't honor the same price unless it was confirmed that i returned the original jacket...so when i said i wasn't up for buying the petite 0 at 229.99 she gave me the "okay then, is there anything else i can do for you today?"
i just ended up trying out jingle and ordering the jacket and a pair of long beckett boots, so it worked out just fine but just having to talk to a rep like that really sucked.
OT, did people find the beckett boots TTS? i know some sized up and others took TTS but i have rather fat calves so i'm a bit worried...
Oh Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI heard other people say the inventory was low before but i could never see an item count!
THANKS!
Hi all, does anyone have fit info on the decade dot jacket or chunky star cable popover? I saw gigi talked about the jacket's boxiness, but not specifically about sizing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think I'm holding out until Friday when it's rumored there will be 40% off. I just hope stock holds up two more days...
Thanks!
suilove: I was able to do the same thing for an order, too. I noticed that they were almost out of sizes for a couple of items that didn't fit quite right, so I went ahead and ordered them, even though the HOHOHO promotion was over and they had moved on to only 20% off. I emailed to ask if they could adjust the price on the two items I ordered to exchange and they were nice and applied it to the whole order. :) I'm sorry you got such a mean rep. Glad it worked out in the end though.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Luxe cord trouser fit pants? Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteergh, I was creating a listing on eBay for sz 6.5 Black Patent Juliet Mid Heels New in Box and my lovely description froze. JCAs know how gorgeous and comfy these are -- email me offers at jcbellemarie at gmail. For some reason these are back at $198 and waitlisted till end of January on jcrew.com. I got them at the store for $129.99
ReplyDeleteSooner_girl: I have the luxe cord pants in acorn and chocolate (both pretty colors). I usually wear a P0 but I thought these were a bit loose, especially compared with P0 from other stores. I'm not sure how much they're online right now but I paid about $45 for them a few weeks ago. I feel the material is too thin to be called "luxe", i.e. they are definitely not really warm winter pants. I also made the mistake of drycleaning one pair, and they became super stretched out. Overall, I felt like my second pair also got a bit stretched out after a few wears and looks a bit ratty. I thought I'd be able to wear it to the office but definitely not the case. Perhaps it's because I wear a Petite, but it's pretty short so I sometimes feel silly wearing it. I was really excited about this pant, especially because it's city-fit and called a 'luxe cord' but it didn't live up to its hype.
ReplyDeleteAaaarg. I'm reading all my "we wish we had enough" emails.
ReplyDeletesoonger_girl: I just bought the Luxe city fit trouser cord pants (2p, coal) and love them. I bought back when they were $49.99 and it was totally worth it. (They are $30 now.)
ReplyDeleteThey are wide wale corduroy but not stiff at all. The fit is very flattering on me. The only thing I dislike is that the legs are *very* wide, but I think it's stylish at the moment. On the plus side, even though they are trouser leg, they are still nicely tailored through the hip and thigh, so they don't look sloppy at all.
I own the Vintage Bootcut cords and also tried on the Vintage Trouser cords, but I like the city fit the best.
I dislike both of the vintage cuts because... well, let's be honest... the waist is too high (gives me a muffin top -- and I don't even have a very flabby tummy!). The pockets are also placed really low on the bootcut, which makes my rear look odd.
ss,
ReplyDeleteI got the jacket today too. I also got the skirt with the 30% off and red 25% off card......get the skirt at 30% off with jingle and free ship...doesn't get much better than that!
sooner_girl and anon 2:30:
ReplyDeleteanon beat me :-) and I enjoyed reading her post. It made me think of 2 more things about the luxe city fit cords, in case you are wondering about the fit... I am a curvy 5'3" and this season's P2 is too long for me to wear with flats. Also, I agree with anon that the fit is on the big side. 2S and 2p are snug on me in the vintage fit, but the luxe city fit 2P is pretty roomy throughout.
Just got a cictorie ruffle cami in pink size 2. They only had one left. Now lets hope I actually get it.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone own the pillow ring? It looks really cheap and tacky online for $55. Just wondering...
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteYes! Well JCrew, you just showed me that you are worth the trouble :}
I've had a lot of depressing experiences with the website & online options of late. So I wasn't particularly surprised that the site kept going down yesterday. Most esp. since the JINGLE code was so very generous. So I decided to be good & not spend more $$$.
Then the sale area updated today & I saw a lovely coat that I had been stalking for ages at a good price. So I figured -- nothing ventured, nothing gained. I called in & mentioned that I had trouble with the online ordering yesterday & could they please honour my coupon code? Not only did the CS honour the Jingle code, but she also upgraded my shipping to make up for the delay. Hurrah! I'm so very glad I can say something nice about an online exp (even if I did call it in).
Anywho, I would recommend asking if they will apply the Jingle disc on any orders you may process today. Perhaps you'll get lucky with the call service roulette as well!
Happy shopping,
Heather:D
Fellow JCAs~
ReplyDeleteWhat do people think of the droopy flower astrid jacket? I have been watching it all season and its down to a low price. But it looks kind of old ladyish (for lack of a better term) on the website.
Can someone describe the fit of the jacket for me so I know whether to pull the trigger?
Thanks!!
OT - Ann Taylor has the majority of their cashmere sweaters on sale for $69.99 - $89.99. Plus, coupon: (valid December 1-24, 2008) 20% of $100 or 30% $200, before tax and shipping (10801548). $6 flat rate shipping. I ordered about 5 sweaters for about $50 - $60 each!
ReplyDeletethe site is down again
ReplyDeleteHow does the Victoria Ruffle fit??
ReplyDeletevictoria shirt or cami?
ReplyDeleteJINGLE still works! 3:05 pm
ReplyDeleteJust got droopy Astrid in green- planning to make my own silk flowers and to turn it into Cascading Astrid.:))))Got Cherie Cami in Golden Roses and Sylvie dress in black, oh, and some tights! All fro $132! Wow! It's my 6th order for the week. I am sooooooooo bad!
Anon at 2:43 pm:
ReplyDeleteFFM just got one and loves it. I lovely adn well made.
Sorry, Victoria Ruffle Cami. :)
ReplyDelete*JaneEsq*
ReplyDeleteChloe just got the flower astrid and posted about it on her blog. Not sure if it will help you with sizing, but she makes it look adorable and NOT old lady-ish!!
http://chloeconspiracy.blogspot.com/
HTH!
Today I saw an Issy sweater jacket size L for $19.99. If you can wear this size it is definitly worth calling for. It is at Somerset Collection and their number is 248 649 2739. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteAnon at 3:
ReplyDeleteVictoria fits TTS and a little baggy in my opinion. I got the 4 and probably could have gotten the 2 as well but decided that I wanted it a bit on the blousy side. It really is beautiful though.
Thanks for the link, smarty :)
Slastina~glad to see I am not the only person who has placed multiple orders this week :)
another question about the droopy astrid: are the sleeves really bracelet length? they look short on the model online, but in the other photos online they look normal. On the blog that Slastena posted, they also look like normal long sleeves.
ReplyDeleteJane Esq ~ I got the charcoal droopy flower Astrid & hated it, for some reason it just screamed Old lady to me, the pink not so bad. It fit really boxy ~ I think they pinned the models in the back. I returned mine the next day. The Victoria cami is beautiful, I think it does fit roomy, I got a size 6, but 4 was ok too. I got the pink and the navy. So pretty, w/ collar showing under a jacket or coat.

ReplyDeleteis anyone else having trouble checking out or updating their baG??
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to use JINGLE code that apparantly still works. I keep getting the "Stay Tuned" when I go to update or checkout.
SOO FRUSTRATING
ahh. lol

ReplyDeleteI asked on a phone order early this morning at 4 am Eastern time and the lady refused to honor JINGLE. I said, OK and hung up and did not order. I kindly explained that I could not get online the three times I tried yesterday and she just commented it is slow but would not honor JINGLE.
Then I saw you can use it anyway on this blog. so good:) got what I wanted
how does the peyton fit? i see that it runs large. but where does it fall, midthigh or knees?

ReplyDeleteThat Izzy sounds great...I wonder what the shipping would be? I live overseas but could have it shipped to my parents. I just don't want to make the expensive call to be told shipping is high!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the Long Glenbrae suede high-heel boots? What do you think of them?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me if they have mini skirts-the large herringbone one in black/creme/charcoal plaid or purple/silver grey plaid? Can you all comment on what you wear it with, how wear it (boots, belt, sweater etc. Also, the fit? I thought it is supposed to hang low on the waist but I am having trouble wearing it because of this.
ReplyDeleteGot both flat and heel in charcoal Fabienne boots. Not sure about either! The flat one is giving me a Peter Pan appearance and the heel is doing this very straight thing in the front of ankle and slight buckle behind. Anyone feel adamantly different?
ReplyDeleteI have tried them with minis, matchsticks, pencils--just not sure what to think! I really want to like them because the grey goes with everything. Can I get some feedback from those that have them about how wearable they feel they are--comfort after walking around etc.? Good outfits for them? Anyone? TIA!
(to clarify Fabienne)the heel version is doing that thing straight/buckle thing.
ReplyDeleteIS there another boot in charcoal I should be all over?
HAS ANYONE BEEN ABLE TO CHECK OUT ONLINE IN THE PAST 10 MINUTES.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the caps above, but I have asked three times and nobodies answerin' :'(
Oh--and FFM (who likes boots;) or others can you point me to a reasonably priced, great boot in black heel or charcoal heel--also comfort would be WONDERFUL! Any brand will do. Thanks ladies!
ReplyDeleteThe JINGLE discount is still working... I just used it for 30% off & free shipping. Also, I just realized that if you search for an item or category in the search bar, tons of additional sale items appear. I'm not sure why they aren't apparent through the standard search links, but I'm so glad I discovered that trick -- last summer's stuff is HIGHLY discounted (and surprisingly available), which is great for anyone with upcoming beach trips. There were also a few additional items from the fall and holiday collections.
ReplyDeleteI just checked out with jingle getting the victorial ruffle camis (thanks for sizing info) at 3:06PM Central.
ReplyDeleteI just checked out with 2 orders with JINGLE.
ReplyDeleteKristin:
ReplyDeleteI 've heard same thing from other JCAs, but not sure what items are everyone is talking about. What specifically were you able to find? Thanks!
Anyone have Serengeti Juliet safari patent-leather midheels (not slingbacks)with brown wood heel in 8.5 they want to sell? Or has anyone seen these at stores lately? TIA!!!
ReplyDeleteA little birdie told me J.Crew is working on a new concept for 2010. I know the working name but can't reveal it. Don't know anything else about it though.
ReplyDeleteHi Anon 3:49,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your bad experience. Yet another example of how very random JCrew can be.
Perhaps someone w. authority told all of the CS to honour the code later in the day? It's strange because sometimes I have a great exp in the "off hours" like 4am - other times not so much. There is a school of thought that the daytime CS shift is more experienced or customer friendly. It's been all together too random for me to say one way or the other.
Hope you tried again & had better luck on the second try.
Good luck,
Heather:D

Heather D,
ReplyDeleteNo I did not try again as I was calling from overseas to have something that I wanted mailed to my parents....oh well....
*bug pin*
ReplyDeleteI also tried the Fabiennes and took them back.
I have these gray boots and really like them. They look a little brown online but are definitely gray IRL. They hit mid-calf, which is a little awkward if you want them to wear with skirts, but I love them! The platform inside makes the heel very manageable.

In case the link doesn't work, they're the "Pretty" boot from Circa Joan & David. HTH!
I mostly got casual summer blouses & tanks, plus several sundresses that I thought were out of stock. I also found a cashmere hoodie that doesn't appear elsewhere on the site, and I also grabbed a few summer skirts & pairs of unique shorts. With the discount, I got over 25 items for under $500. I'm thrilled because I don't like to buy final sale items, especially online, so to grab the summer's remainders at 30% off, with free shipping, and the possibility to return whatever doesn't fit well is beyond awesome. Plus, I like these items more than those in the resort collection at present! I had the most luck searching categorically (e.g., "silk", "skirt", "sandals" etc.). A lot of additional items appear, so there's a degree of sifting, but it was well worth the effort!
ReplyDeleteJaneEsq;
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten my droopy Astrid yet, but I remember trying it in store- it does fit boxy, so I recommend DS. Flower can be easily remedied (fluffed, starched and re-pinned). Chloe's blog is amazing and she worn that jacket beautifully.
I don't know what I am going to do with mine; I might add few more flowers or amny to make it cascading, don't know.:)
site is down =(
ReplyDeleteThanks Smarty--those are darling and Joan & David are very comfortable-they fit my feet well.
ReplyDeleteI think I need more of a stacked heel look though as opposed to a pump type heel. Also-I think I do want the height on the calf to be higher for skirts.
Thanks for responding!
Site's not down for me. Just placed three orders with JINGLE.
ReplyDeleteReceived my droopy flower Astrid yesterday n berry. It's quite boxy and can look a little old unless you pair it off properly.
ReplyDeleteStill cute and the flower can be easily fluffed up by steaming & repinning. I'm returning it anyway since I paid $70 for it last week. I reordered and added the gold avocado.
anon at 4:30
ReplyDeletethere must be something wrong with my browser. It says the sight is down... I am happy that you got to use the jingle code =D
I hope I can too. I'll try switching to safari maybe. Im using firefox now.
Any thoughts on these items:
ReplyDeleteLousia dress (scoopneck)
Cashmere Lori Henley
Thanks all!
I used JINGLE at 4:30pm to get a black Silvie, an Ella dress, a bow necklace cardigan and a pale pink Odile bag, all for $230! So excited :)
ReplyDeleteANon@4.35: I'm using Firefox. Been surfing for the past 2 hours (hence three orders with 43 items:) ) with no problem. Hope the site is working for you now. JINGLE is a good deal!
ReplyDeletePreppyinphilly: Congrats on your purchase! I also got the bow necklace cardi. What color did you get?
ReplyDeleteHi Bug Pin! Sorry the Fabienne boots aren't working out for you...they are really pretty! My favorite boots right now are my Michael Kors boots...I find them extremely comfortable, even though the heel is very high. The website 6pm.com has great deals on all different brands of shoes and boots, so they can be found at a reasonable price. I also really like BORN shoes and boots...I have a friend who owns the BORN Thicket boot seen here , and loves them. She said they are extremely comfortable. If you search the web, they can often be found at a lower price, too. As for Gray boots...I have mid-calf Steve Madden Gray boots, and they are extremely comfortable and affordable, but really aren't meant for wearing with skirts. I would suggest looking at Piperlime and Endless.com, as they have a good variety plus FREE SHIPPING and FREE RETURNS. :) HTH!!!
ReplyDeleteOT: For all you Cole Haan fans...the site 6pm.com is having a really great sale on them. :) 6pm.com
ReplyDeleteFFM: You enabler! :) Thanks - I'm off to 6 p.m. I think I spent too much time and money today on J.Crew - 43 items / 3 orders, sigh.
ReplyDeleteI like Clarks boots - very comfy, but beware of the British sizing.
Bug Pin: Btw...Endless.com has Free Overnight shipping on most of their merchandise. :)
ReplyDeleteAnon at 4:41 - I got navy. Wanted the pewter but it was sold out in my size.
ReplyDeleteOk so if I am a 2 in the berry astrid, do you think that I could get away with a zero in the droopy flower version? I am a 34B and usually an xs/s in j crew tops.
ReplyDeleteI am just too embarassed to place another online order and am hoping to be able to just buy it from the store but they only have a 0 and a 4 left...
Anon @4:45: Hope you find a good deal! Some of the Cole Haan styles they have aren't all that great, but they do have some of the *Air* line for 50% off.
ReplyDeleteJaneEsq: I'm a 34B and a XS in J.Crew tops but sometimes veer between 0 and 2 for jackets. I have the 2 in the berry. I took a 0 in the droopy astrid, but I could have gone down another size if it comes in -1 :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon at 4:58! I'm off to J crew...wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteJaneEsq: Tell us what you got!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, what a relief. I have a few items in my shopping cart, and now I won't have to be tempted by "additional off." I decided to hold out and not order by last night...as I noticed items I ordered just last weekend at 20% off were now priced LOWER and still 30% off until last night. Made me mad, so I decided to wait it out.
ReplyDeleteI think it makes great sense to wait it out - prices will get only lower. Unless the items are selling out in the size/colors you want. I bit the bullet and got the Victoria camis because it's clear that they are selling out fast. I'm not sure the ones I ordered today will get shipped at all.
ReplyDeleteI just downloaded the updated firefox and now my j.crew shopping is going better!! thank you for all your helpful comments.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering how anyone feels about the golden roses chérie cami? I am thinking about ordering it
I ordered the Golden Roses Cherie cami last night - I have been waiting for it to go on sale. I think the print is beautiful and I like the silhouette too.
ReplyDeletethanks cortney_joy
ReplyDeleteI decided to order it. I am a size 10 on bottom, but smaller on top so I ordered an 8. I hope its not one of those tops that runs really big in the arm holes. Anyways. I think the print and cut looks beautiful too.
I've bought something from JC every week this month, but I am so tempted to get the berry astrid. I don't need it, right? I just got the audrey in berry and I have a sweet potato Fiona in transit. Someone talk me down.
ReplyDeletewell to be helpful, if you just got the aubrey in berry- the astrid in berry would be the exact same color. kind of overdoing it as far as berry blazers goes? haha, hope that helps!
ReplyDeletebut then again you could get the astrid in charcoal! and it's so cheap!
ReplyDeleteQuick question: on the J. Crew site on the handbag page, there is a picture of a model who is wearing two rings. I know that one of them is the crystal pillow ring (which I just ordered yesterday), but does anyone know the name and/or item number of the other ring she is wearing (on her middle finger)? I don't see it on the site, but I'd still like to know what it's called in case it comes back in the future. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteAnyone try the long fabienne boots in charcoal - how is the sizing?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the tissue turtlenecks are true to size or if I should size up?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Okay quick question before I FINALLY check out. Should I order the city fit lux cords in coal or chocolate?? I am a size 10 so it is important for me too look thinner... Im worried the coal is going to make me look bigger because it is not as dark as the chocolate. Any thoughts on colors--coal vs. chocolate?
ReplyDeleteThank You for your advice I really consider it valuable
tissue turtlenecks last fall/winter were true to size. hope that helps
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:21: I have the cords in both colors, and I definitely think the chocolate is more flattering.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the coal would make you look bigger since they aren't really light colored.
ReplyDeleteI told myself no more...but I just ordered the Luxe City Fit cords in ivory and the sequin tissue tee (the one with the crest). I hadn't paid the tee any attention until I spotted it in the January issue of Glamour:-)
ReplyDeleteRegarding the golden roses cami -- Would this look better with a V-Neck cardi or a crew neck cardi??
ReplyDeleteThank You all for your help again!
That anon was me earlier about the cords. thanks tammylee, I removed the coal from my basket =D
Anon@6:21 - I have the city fit cords in Coal and they are very flattering. It's a deep grey so they are slimming. HTH!
ReplyDeleteChristina: I wear the golden roses cami with the honey glaze jackie cardigan - it looks really sharp.
ReplyDeleteordered two down jackets, pants and a sweater. order arrived without the men's down jacket. no phone call, no email, but the company had charged the item. i called and was told that the item was out of stock so they didn't send it. there are no more in inventory and none in their retail stores. the only solution is that they can return the money. pretty sad that this org would send a partial shipment and not notify the customer.
ReplyDeletei was coming back for the first time in years to try jcrew again, but this kind of service will prevent me from shopping here again. there are just too many alternatives with solid customer service.
BUGPIN, or whoever else is looking for comfortable boots: I bought the Sudini Torrey at Nordie's for $114; classic style & extremely comfortable.
ReplyDeletehttp://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2902022?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=keywordsearch&keyword=sudini+torrey+in+All+Categories&origin=searchresults
For flat boots, I bought Born Thicket riding boots at Zappos; so comfy right out of the box!
size down in the golden roses cami- wear a 2 in everything and could wear the 2 in this but loved the zero when I got it--it was better. Like this with a non-crewneck cardy the best due to collar but it is GORGEY-you will love it and it looks AWESOME with charcoal grey cardi or honey glaze.
ReplyDeleteLong Fabiennes run TTS but you can see my semi-review above in the comments here.
Rissue T-necks--I wear xs but could wear small as well so should be safe.
FFM-thanks for all the tips! Appreciate that! I think 6pm is owned by zappos. Just discovered this recently--thus the free ship and returns. Prices can be higher on these 2 sites so must be a smart shopper;)
HTH
Bug Pin
hi guys,
ReplyDeletejust wondering do any of you have the Olivia cable V-neck sweater? just wondering if its worth it to get? is it tts or are the does it come up short?
tia
Kristin, , that ring is called the Sparkle Cocktail Ring, item 11568X. FYI, it's shown on p.9 of the Holiday catalog. It appears to be sold out right now, but if you bookmark a page, sometimes sold out items come back in stock. Good luck!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/jewelry/rings/PRDOVR~11568/11568.jsp
Okay, the link didn't work. Just Google: "j crew sparkle cocktail ring" and that should pull up the page. HTH.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Vicky! I wasn't expecting to get a response that fast. :) I hope I can get my hands on that ring at some point. I love it!
ReplyDeleteSo i made one order on Sunday and one on Monday. The one that i ordered Monday -- i got no confirmation or shipping notice yet here it was at my door today. Still no sign of the one from Sunday. But the order showed up fine no problems.
ReplyDeleteI got the Maggie in size 2 in berry a while ago. Although I liked it I didn't think it was that great, a little big in the arms. I will probably be returning it. If anyone wants it, let me know and I can probably ship it to you.
Same with me...I placed an order on Sunday but have yet to receive any shipment info. I wonder if it's already shipped out it's been 3 days!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the info about JINGLE still working. I regretted all day that I didn't order the cornsilk necklace and pirate pants for my nephew. So, when I read here that it was still working, I decided to try. Although the necklace is back ordered, everything else is on it's way, with 30% off and free shipping! :D
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried on the bootcut jeans in authentic vintage wash? They are so pretty. How do they run? TIA!
ReplyDeletePersistence pays off!!! I got the Chalet shearling boots and was holding my breath but they say shipped so I hope they really are and I don't just get an empty box. Wouldn't surprise me, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 6:14-
ReplyDeleteThe tissue turtlenecks run true to size for me. I expected it might be a little fitted, but it actually fits very nicely.
Anon at 8:04pm: how much are you selling the Maggie jacket for?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Anon at 8:57
ReplyDeleteI got the maggie for 30% off, so lets say $130?
Thanks!
JaneEsq -- I bought the peacock pencil skirt with the 30% off promo a few days ago. It's so pretty. Not quite floral, but an interesting pattern. I figure it can be worn with ivory, light grey, silver, blade green, pumpkin yellow/orange, lavender, or bright pink. I like things that give me options! I hope the jacket turns out the same way for you.
ReplyDeletei need to stop!!! i think the website has subliminal messages that make me want to keep on checking the site for things to buy even if i had already made a purschase! i have found myself placing an order on a daily basis for at least $170 this is sooo scary! I am so afraid to see my credit card bill!! helppppp. is it me or are we all in the same boat. by the time xmas ends it will seem like i have most of what jcrew sells. HELP!!! I was never like this with banana republic! grrrr i even go as far as having them search for an item for me...this is not good my friends!!!
ReplyDeleteAnon at 9:19: I hear ya!! I've got 5 orders within 5 days. I don't even want to tally the orders up because I think it's over $700!!! Yikes! I'm supposed to be buying for my hubby and kids...not me!! However, I know they never buy me anything at xmas since I always buy for myself, so I guess it's sorta legit (okay, maybe a litlle overboard too! LOL)
ReplyDeleteYeah persistence! Just got a Size 2 Heather Nickel Maggie that popped up with JINGLE! I have a 4 on the way in both ivory and heather nickel, but wanted this one in case those are too large (50/50 chance), so I will have 1-2 extra Maggies for sale in a few days in anyone is interested in these sizes/colors!
ReplyDelete
