Sneak Peek: J.Crew Fall (Regular) Catalog

Seriously, this blog has the BEST members. Another enormous "thank you!" goes to Sky who shared with us some images of the regular catalog that is coming out this week as well. These items all look girlicious! I cannot wait to see them (let alone purchase them!)

UPDATE: Sky (who also rocks!) was even more generous by sharing seven additional images of the new catalog. I am thrilled with what I am seeing. :) After a couple of weeks, I am finally excited about J.Crew again. Again, Sky thank you so much!

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

What items you are most looking forward to purchasing and which ones you are not going to? :) Are you planning to get a hard copy of the catalog (if you don't have one already)? Are you more excited by the items in the Look Book or in the Sneak Peek of the regular Fall catalog?

  1. SKY - you are the best! I don't know what to be more excited about...I love the astrid jacket from the lookbook, but that was about it. But this stuff - holy cow! I want every color of that ecole jacket - especially the yellow. or maybe the green? or the blue?

and the ruffle cardigans...oh my. how am I going to pick colors????

  2. Hi - my pleasure! I wasn't sure if the images would look ok after I sent them. I am glad they did!

  3. Ok, unlike the Fall Look Book- I LOVED all 5 pages of the regular catalog. I would get everything on those pages.

Sky- I echo Kater's comment: you are the best!!! :)

  4. I'm more excited about this sneak peak than the look book. Wow, the Ecole Jacket & the ruffle sweaters look great. Uh-oh, there goes all hope of $aving to make up for what I $pent this $ummer!

Thank you Sky! Now if we can just start sneeking some pic's of clothes in the dressing room at the B&M store to post...ha ha

  5. Hey when you go to JCrew's "Browse Catalog" link a JSP_EXECUTION_FAILED
message is displayed. Hopefully the new catalog will be available in the next few hours online! I've been checking that link & the "Seen In" link for some fall merchandise for a while now to no avail.

  6. Ahhh, I am so excited! Thanks so so so much for the pictures! My only dilemma now is whether to go on a shopping spree while in Italy or wait until I get back at the end of August and go to J.Crew. Such earthshaking decisions, I know!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Alexis - same here! I loved EVERYTHING I saw! I can't wait to get the new catalog! I have a feeling the Ecole Jacket will become my new favorite this fall...I was just reminiscing about how much I loved the Academy Cord Jacket from a year ago - this could easily take its place!

    Sky, you rock! :)

  8. I am LOVING the Andrea sweater jacket. I also liked alot of what I saw in the lookbook. Esp. the green cuff bracelet. I CAN. NOT. WAIT. for fall clothes.

  9. Julia: Blow your buck$ in Italy! I imagine their outlets alone would be overwheliming.

  10. Omg!!!! I absolutely love everything in this catalog especially the ecole jacket and the ruffle sweaters. I usually only buy items from J Crew when they are on sale, but these choices seem to be very popular, so my size and desired colors might be gone before they go on sale. What a difficult choice.....

  11. Wow...the Ecole jacket looks fantastic!

    Kudos to Sky!

  12. I went to the b&m today and the saleslady was kind enough to tell me that fall items like peacoats wouldn't be on display until late August (she called it the second fall something)
My local store's situated on Long Island, I'm not sure if this schedule varies by location?
One reason to look forward to the end of summer, at least!:D

  13. Thank you so much, sky!:) My catalogs don't come in until the season's almost over sometimes, then other times they come in one after the other in a string of 4 (unfortunately now seems to be the former), but this just made my day!

  14. I agree that the Ecole and the ruffle cardigans are adorable! I love love LOVE the sleeves on the Ecole.

I see myself getting a couple.....

    The shoes weren't really impressive.

The jewelry was super cute :o)

  15. I thought I could also share some prices :) The ruffle sweater is called Tartine and it comes in cardigan at $88.00 and crewneck (!) at $78.00. The velvet ecole is $168.00 and the herringbone one is $198.00. The Andrea jacket (with square buttons and "disk" collar in honey glaze color) is $230.00. The clasic looking Jacinda sweater jacket (shown with greenish watercolor tank and jeans, also in honey glaze) is $148.00. My favorite are the tartine sweaters, the ecole, and the andrea - hence the first five pictures :)

  16. Thanks Sky for sharing the item names and prices. It's nice to see "regular" prices of $88 for items versus the $2,000 prices (in the Look Book). ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love the tartine cardigans (the cardies with the ruffles) :) I think those were my favorite! It's so sweet and cute! I also saw in the catalog that the bateau neck sweaters are back, which excites me. I didn't get one last year, but I will definitely be getting one (two? five?) this year!

So it's a good thing I called Albany (I had ordered an antique shawl cardigan on July 15th and still hadn't received it). They never shipped it. It's supposed to go out tomorrow morning at the latest. Oddly, I'm not that bothered by this though, simply because they were SO NICE when I placed the order originally. I guess I am just relieved that nothing happened to it and it's still on its way :)

  18. i'm so excited about these catalog items! i'm planning on getting the ecole jackets in papaya and black, the lightweight message tee, and the three cardigans in colors as shown. love them all!!! these items, i know i'll get tons of wear out of, and can wear to the office and beyond.

sigh of relief! excitement for fall! :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I want the ecole jacket. I have a chocolate brown velvet blazer that has a hole in one elbow and torn lining, so I think I am due for a new one! Doesn't look like they have one in brown, but I will take the lighter green or mustard instead. :D

  20. I just wanted to put in my $.02 here about a couple of things. First, I just got home from J Crew and they were putting out a bunch of their fall stuff and I fell head over heels for a gray (grey?) herringbone wool jacket with a ruffled collar, fully lined. I decided not to risk it selling out quickly (which I know you all know what I mean---I hate it when that happens!) and bought it right away. It was $195, which I thought was fairly reasonable (either that, or I've become so numb to their prices that anything with a "1" in front of it must be okay. lol. I also picked up a slub cotton boatneck tee in a pale gray color. That was $36 and very nice and drapey. Will look great with jeans, which I live in most of the time anyway.

Secondly, I placed two orders online over the last few days. The first order came in yesterday after taking maybe a day or two longer than it typically does. The second order I placed over the weekend and it has shipped already and I expect it tomorrow. From my perspective, it looks like they have gotten it together now and put most of the glitches behind them. Yay!

Lastly, I picked up a catalog at the store. I wasn't overwhelmed by anything in it, but as a stay at home mom, a lot of the clothes can be a bit impractical for me. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more beautiful stuff to come in the next several weeks! :)

  21. ooh, I see the green tweed skirt there...looks greaat. Can't wait to try it on.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Julia, just remember: because the dollar is so weak right now, you're not going to make out very well on the exchange rate, unfortunately (I should know - I went to London and Paris last September, and suffered the same fate).

Of course, it woudldn't be much fun to go to Italy and not have $$ to blow ... so how about splitting up the funds :-)

Either way, bon voyage! Hope you have a great time.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So the fall catalog arrived today and I'm in trouble. far too much is appealing to me. The for sure items are a heather carbon merino v neck, I already have burgundy, and a striped navy one (along with a few others from Banana).

The cords are a definite, in navy or dark fatigue, and the suit pants in charcoal. I also like the ashed cord sport coat and the scarf.

What do you ladies think? What should I buy?

    ReplyDelete
  24. A grey wool herringbone jacket with ruffle collar? Sounds right up my alley. Can't wait to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. SKY--thank you so much for this and Alexis for posting it!

I have to agree with many posters---I think sweetmint said exactly what I was thinking about "dulling" the colors down a bit. It doesn't say "Fall" to me and doesn't get me in the mood to purchase.... It seems like a continuation of Summer stuff (that I'm feeling I have enough of presently!) I'm finding myself so drawn to Patrick Robinson's Fall collection for Gap (not out yet, but google and you'll get some pics.) Even though it's a little young and casual for me, it has more of a cooler weather vibe and as a whole the collection just seems fresher, cool, etc.

I am relieved I don't see anything that jumps out (maybe the pink bow shoe, but I'm not lusting) because I really resolved to give J Crew a break for a good long while until they iron out the kinks of the "upgrade." I spent an hour on the phone yesterday, and again today trying to get credit for returns that I sent back 3 weeks ago. My statement is almost due, and never before have I found myself in such a mess trying to figure out what I actually owe. There was a complete order that was sent out twice (duplicated) and I was charged for it twice. Sent it back and it's still sitting on my credit card. So do I pay the $200 when my bill is due even though I know I'll be credited that money back (someday...sigh)????

I'll still shop at the JCrew store, but as far as online, it'll be a while before I'm brave enough to try again.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am not feeling the 1970s mustard color, but I do like the ruffles and metallic belts. Also, I saw a really cute corduroy blazer with satin lining in a Seattle B+M store the other day. That blazer in navy with the yellow driving mocs would be super cute.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think the August stuff is just early fall - the big fall collection is in the September catalogue, so I'm sure there'll be more temptation down the road. Last year, there wasn't much I bought from the August calalogue - but then I went a bit crazy September through December :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I saw the ecole jacket in the store today...not really impressed by it. It's not as well made as the bella jacket from last fall. I saw a cute winter jacket almost identical to the fiona wool jacket in herringbone, except it doesn't have the three quarter length sleeve. It's so cute...and so expensive. $198. I am keeping my eyes on it!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm with you, la belle Helene, love that green tweed skirt!

Mustard colored trousers, however, not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  30. When will the stuff be online? I like to look at all the views and details onscreen, but no idea when this will happen!

Thank you to all for sharing what they know!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Too bad that the gray herringbone jacket is not featured in the catalog. I didn't get the bella jacket last year and I wanted to get a jacket with ruffles this season. I am glad there will be at least one.

I agree that the most beatiful fall merchandise usually comes in September. That is why I plan to get a jacket (probably Andrea or honey glaze ecole) and few ruffle cardigans and then wait.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sky, you are awesome! Like other posts, I love the Tartine and I'm all over the gray heels. I have to agree with Evelyn, mustard is so not my color, and yet, it's all over the place. :(

I still don't feel confident enough to order through the website just yet. I'll have to check out the B&M hopefully later this week. Plus, I have to pace myself for the Sept catalog!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Cannot thank SKY enough!! :) Thanks to the photos from the catalog, I was able to place an order since I had the item numbers. Just got off the phone with a customer service rep who took my order on a 'pre sale form'. He said my order would be shipped on the 26th "when the Fall collection goes live, so to speak". So...I'm thinking this is when the Web site will be updated with the new Fall items.

I'm excited to check out the new merch! I'll post my opinions on the items when I get them.

    ReplyDelete
  34. newyork0311: I agree about the ecole jacket - it's certainly pretty, but fits more like a blazer than a jacket because there aren't any buttons, just a flimsy hook.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, the herringbone jacket is reminiscent of the Bella jacket from last year (which I bought in black and adore). But I am not sure if it is as heavy as the Bella jacket, but that may be because it is less tailored and more boxy and has only two buttons--at the throat and chest. The lining (on the gray that I chose) is gray at the body with hot pink trim and lime green sleeves. The ruffle goes around the neck and down the front of the right edge. The buttons are plastic, unlike the nice covered buttons of the Bella. Also it has 2 pockets in front with no flap (again, unlike the Bella). I guess it could be said that is the Bella's poor relation, but I still think it is very nice, well made, and a different shape from any of the other J Crew jackets I already have.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OOOO Vivian you were right the ecole jacket is fabulous!

Sky thanks so much for this! I cant wait to get my catalog!

I am not into the ruffles though

OH yay I cant wait to go to the store now. I feel a spending spree coming on!

    ReplyDelete
  37. JCrew Guy in Canada: I don't know how you got the catalog in the mail already- but I am completely envious! :)

I think the heather carbon merino v-neck is the best purchase of the items you described. The color, style, material are fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I should also add (as if you aren't sick of me rambling on about this jacket) I saw it in orange herringbone as well as a hot pink. I'm trying to remember if I saw it in the mustard as well, and I'm not sure if I did or not.

Okay, I'm really done now. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sweetmint: Congrats on the pre-order. Let us know how the items are once you receive them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. lou- can I encourage you to post a picture of this fab jacket? I am soooooooo curious now...:)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Kater: I'm afraid I don't dare---ummm, my husband doesn't exactly know I bought it today and he's home and in the next room. Dang it!

    ReplyDelete
  42. double dang it! but trust me, I know how that goes...:)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Lol. I knew you would. I know he's going to see it sooner or later, and sadly he is observant enough to know a new piece when he see's one. I just want to delay the inevitable for as long as I can. ha ha ha...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Lou: The comments about temporarily withholding the item from display (because of your husband) made me laugh. I have done that too!!! Too funny. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Alexis: It's an addiction, isn't it?

I don't wanna go to rehab, no, no, no!

    ReplyDelete
  46. ha ha ha! if there was a jcrew rehab my fiance would send me there immediately!

    ReplyDelete
  47. This is a little OT--do you think we've seen the last of the sale markdowns or shipping coupons now that the fall collection is about to come out?

I've been eyeing the Clea flats in the orange/black stripe since I bought the orange Candace. This weekend they were full price but yesterday (after the 30% off expired) they were marked down . . . just not enough. And the Abby jacket has been full price since what--February?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mine too, but only to save him money.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was disheartened because two days after getting the call that my navy wool hacking jacket was en route (with free shipping!), I got an email saying that my order was canceled. Turns out they were sold out all along. Boo. But I got my catalog today and I love the Ecole jackets. They can't take my order until August 1, though. The emotional roller coaster ride that is J Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Lou & Kater: My husband would totally admit me to a J.Crew Rehab program. ;)

Hexicon: This is just my opinion but I think the stores won't have any good sales for awhile. Mainly because the stores have probably sent most of their sale merchandise back to J.Crew. Now online, I think will have a great selection of summer sale items in the next week or two (since they have all the merchandise from store returns to offer). Although, I suspect the online prices will not match those low prices being offered by the stores. For example, when online finally receives the Fionna Jackets, I doubt they will sell them for $29.99. I bet they will increase the price of that and many other items (like they have done in past sales). But that is just my opinion. :)

Jen: Did you get the catalog by mail to- if so I am jealous of you too! Sorry to hear about the jacket. That is awful news.

    ReplyDelete
  51. thank you for posting the catalog sky!!

i made it to the store today and asked for a catalog since they were not out yet. the SA was nice enough to give me one and let me try on what i was interested in!

so i tried the pique andrea jacket...it's very nice in person and although the color honey glaze did not work for me last year in the dream cardi it looked really nice in the pique material of this jacket and looked great with dark jeans...price is a bit high but the details of the jacket are very nice...they didn't have my size or i might have been tempted to buy it...there's a nice pleat in the back.

i tried on a herringbone ruffle jacket in bright rhubarb that was also $230...it's not in the catalog. the ruffles are similar to the katie sweater jacket. it's a roomy jacket though...seemed to run a little big. i wonder if it's the same one lou said was $195??? hmmm, maybe it was mispriced (happens often at jcrew lately)...the color was very pretty though...

overall, i am much happier with the catalog than the look book...i also love the jacinda jacket...much better price at $148 ;)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Alexis, the catalog is good, and as usual you ladies get 80% of the pages. The women's clothing looking very good.

Good call on the charcoal v neck, that the one I plan to buy first.

    ReplyDelete
  53. ccbmum: The herringbone ruffle jacket sounds quite nice. You are so lucky to see so many of the new items in person already! :)

JCrew guy in Canada: I can't complain if the catalog mainly features women's items. ;) Let us know how the v-neck works out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. alexis: i really loved that ruffled jacket, color and everything, and it was very soft! it was just a tad too roomy on me...the pique andrea jacket was also very soft and had beautiful detail...i know i will be buying one (or more) of the jackets in this catalog at some point :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just a story I thought I'd share today. :) Today was a very J.Crew mail day for me! I got the buttery twill trousers I'd ordered from Tysons and also a small manilla envelope. I was so intrigued by the envelope. I couldn't help but think that it was some nice gesture on J.Crew's part to all their recent customers who'd had to put up with the annoying website upgrade! How nice that would be!

I opened it up and it turned out to be ... fabric samples I'd requested for their wedding dresses! The wedding planner said that she'd send me all available swatches. There was just one, which still makes me smirk thinking about it.

I hope everyone (blumre, FFM, etc.) who was supposed to get their gift card, gets it soon. A $100 gift card is pretty awesome, but I don't think I'd want to put up with what you have to get it!

    ReplyDelete
  56. OMG I just got an e-mail that a promotional gift card that was promised to me was canceled. This is what I wrote back.

"Why was this gift card cancelled? I have been through hell with you people. You have over charged me, billing me on items I didn't order, sent me items i didnt order, lost orders and then not refunded me for those orders that were lost in a timely matter. This is fraud and these gift cards that I was offered were offered because you royally screwed up my orders. I am beyond offended and angered by your company and I think I deserve a superb explanation as to why 1. my gift cards would be canceled and 2. why I havent recieved them yet when they were supposedly sent out two weeks ago!! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?"

This is outrageous and I may not shop there again unless the freaking FEDEX me what I was promised. This is insulting

    ReplyDelete
  57. blumre: I'm pissed off for you!!! My bad luck with J Crew has been a bit milder but as much as it frustrated me, I can't imagine how I would feel if I had to deal with what you and fabfloridamommy and others have posted on here.
My latest tale is about a b*tchy sales person at a store who was supposed to fedex me an item, never did, and never returned a call from me following up on it. I want to complain but don't want to wait 20plus minutes for a CS on the phone!
I wonder how many cell phone minutes we have all burned!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. jcrew bug I am on the phone with CS now. The wait wasn't too bad about 7 minutes. I would say send at e-mail to contactus@jcrew.com to complain about someone though... those are always best when written down.

THIS IS INSANE... I have now been talkign to them for 42 minutes while they try to sort this out... oh and I am still talking/on hold/talking/on hold. I mean INSANE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. sky: Thanks so much for letting us see the Fall catalog.

I saw the Bee Necklace you mentioned earlier. I have to say, it's very cute. I would like to see it in person.

The Andrea Sweater Jacket looks very high end, especially with the sticker shocker. I'll have to either wait for it to go on sale or just let it go.

I still haven't ordered online. If I do like something, I'm just going to have to wait for to be physically available at the b&m store. I can't have J Crew ruin my credit cards and my life LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think I'm going to pick up leather basics in Italy - I'm Zara-ed out from my trip to the Netherlands and France! Then when I get back in August, I can scout out the J.Crew stuff! The only thing better would be if I knew where in Italy J.Crew's shoes are made (since they always advertise "made in Italy"), then I could go straight to the source. Oh well, I guess a girl can dream!

    ReplyDelete
  61. blumre: Complaining paid off somewhat - got free shipping on my next order. Would rather have my buttery twill trousers but I'll take it!

    Hope they work things out!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I couldn't resist and made it to the store. This particular store is smaller and does not have jewerly and shoes. I saw the ruffle herringbone jacket - it looks like the fiona. It is made of thinner wool fabric and is quite cute but I didn't buy it for two reasons. It was very itchy at the colar and felt too thin. I tried on the ecole and although it was also nice and very soft it didn't have the "it" factor. I didn't see the Andrea, which was my favorite in the catalog.

Webbysuzy: Sorry I couldn't carry on the conversation last night. My modem stopped working. I like the bee necklace and hope to see it in the stores soon. It is nothing like the giraffe one though :(

    ReplyDelete
  63. I still don't see a single thing that REALLY stand out as a unique piece...I loved the library cardigan and print from last fall. These solids are pretty boring to me....guess that is good for my wallet. I knew they couldn't top last fall.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I just happen to find that J.Crew online offers another 20% off(with a code EXTRA20). It is better than nothing:)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Alexis

It's 5:07 am and yes, I just checked the JC website: extra 20% off the final sale, with the code EXTRA20. Hey, it's better than nothing!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I am SO happy the catalog is better than the lookbook! I like the Ecole Jacket...LOVE the Andrea Sweater Jacket (looks like it comes in a Orange or Berriesh color, too) and the Tartine (Ruffle) Cardigans, in fact I love all the Cardigans, so far. I am going to my store today, so maybe I will be able to peek at a few of the new items...I hope... :)

blumre: I am supposed to be able to get my promo gift cards at the store today, and I'll let you know what happens. Supposedly none of the cards are REALLY cancelled, and the majority of them HAVE been mailed out, but I am supposed to be able to get them today, as opposed to waiting. I am receiving the $100 AND the $50, that was showing as cancelled, but really not. You should ask about doing the same for yours... ;) I'll keep you posted...I won't be home until late afternoon, but I'll post once I get here. :)

    THANKS SKY!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I like the ruffle cardigans that they had/have out that are merino wool with the little ruffle around the neckline...I have them in 6 colors...the new ones are too formal/stiff looking to me.

    ReplyDelete
  68. JCrew is actually taxing shipping now. That is really bad...they are trying to up their shipping profits even more. Shame on them!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I wrote JCrew a nasty email on Monday saying they had 5 business days to refund my money that they owed me for charging me for items that they did not send...otherwise, I was reporting them to the FTC and calling my credit card company...it is a few hundred dollars worth. This was the 5th email I had sent. All the others were very nice, professional, understanding but firm. But I heard nothing back. Well, just checked my statement and the refunds are there.....I guess you have to threaten them and mean it for anything to work.

I still don't have my order from July 2 even though I have been told on 3 different occasions it as been shipped.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I have noticed the tax on shipping too. I am not sure if they calculated it the same way before but it is very noticable to me right now. Their system automatically pulls the tax rate by the zip code and in my zip code the tax rate is at 10%. I know - it is outrageous. I am not buying anything without free ship from the catalog or online anymore. Just recently I was about to place an order and noticed that on $280.00 subtotal my tax and shipping charges were just short of $50.00 ($30 in tax and $18.50 in shipping and handling).

    ReplyDelete
  71. no fall clothes on the web yet, but there is an extra 20% off final sale with the code EXTRA20 - says it on the sale page.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I just tried a fictional order and had a question for Canadian shoppers. I notice now you can select from 3 shipping options in the drop down menu. It seems if you choose Canadian Ground there is tax, but if you select Canadian Post there isn't, same with if you choose Canadian Air.

The description of the shipping options says delivery to certain provinces is sent by Canada Post instead of UPS Ground, but the option is there nonetheless. I'm confused! Also, under the old system, JCrew would collect all tax and duty at time of order. For anyone who's recently placed an order from Canada, is that still the case regardless of what shipping method you select?
    Thanks in advance to all!

    ReplyDelete
  73. FFM you are lucky: they wouldnt let me do that with the promo cards. I sent 1 hour on the phone with them last night trying to sort this out! Thats ridiculous!

    Jcrewbug: good for you!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Has anyone received this quarter's promo gift card (the one you get for using the J Crew credit card)? If so, when did you receive yours?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I saw this jacket on ebay: J.CREW HERRINGBONE CANVAS FIONA JACKET W/RUFFLES FALL 08

Did anyone see this in the store or in the catalog?

    ReplyDelete
  76. The Fall items are not online yet but CS says they can start taking orders for Fall items beginning Aug 26.

    ReplyDelete
  77. CCBMUM: I can't wait to see that jacket in person myself. I love ruffles!

Blumre: I can't believe they canceled the gift card on you! That is outrageous. Please let us know what happens with CS responds to your email.

Megan: I saw the link you provided. Leigh is the writer of that blog. Turns out she use to post comments here. I guess she liked this blog enough to create her own copy. :)

Naomi & Mary: Thanks for the heads up on the percent off sale. :) I am bummed out that these sales now require a code. :(

FabulousFloridaMommy: I hope you get your gift cards soon!

  78. Anonymous at 7:50 AM: You sent them five emails and they still hadn't resolved your issue- that is outrageous behavior on their part!

Sky: Tax on shipping is awful. It just makes me want to not buy online.

    FLOWY DRESS
Naomi: I know what you mean! This dress looks better on someone than it does hanging of hanger. I love the idea of wearing the dress with a white shirt!

  79. I just realized the ecole jacket does not have buttons, so I don't think I want it anymore... :/

  80. I ordered the Seychelles necklace a week ago, just got my order and teh necklace wasn't included. WHen I called into CS they advised it was b/c the item was not available at time of shipping, i.e. it is sold out. That's all well and fine but what pisses me off is that the necklace is still available online for purchase. So I just wanted to warn anybody who would be interested in this necklace, to not order it as there are NONE in the warehouse.

CS was pretty good to me, they ended up giving me the Double Strand Seahorse necklace which will be shipped via Canadian Air for the same price...

  83. blumre, alexis, and everyone: I was able to get my promo cards at the store today, but they won't be "loaded" until tomorrow, as the store cannot actually do it...they call CS and give them the card #'s, and then a rep at Corporate loads the funds onto the card (I'll let you know tomorrow if the money actually goes on them). The manager who handled mine seemed a little ticked that the CS rep had told me to come in, and threw a little bit of attitude, which I really think was uncalled for because it's not MY fault that J.Crew is screwing up so badly with the online orders, refunds, shipping, etc...I should be the one with attitude, since it's MY CC that has been charged for almost a month with no price adjustments and items not arriving but still being charged onto my card. This is the first time I have gotten attitude, even though it was slight, and not full fledged, but I was really surprised...it wasn't my fave manager, and that could be the reason...not sure. Anyways, needless to say...I took my gift cards and left without purchasing anything...I will wait awhile. They didn't have the Andrea Jacket, and that is what I really wanted to try on. I did get the Fall Catalog, though. :)

  84. FFM and Others: I am heading into the store now! Armed and ready to go. This is such a debacle.

  85. FabulousFloridaMommy: I am happy to hear that you were able to get your promo card (even though it doesn't have anything on it for now). Sorry to hear the CS was a bit snippy- you usually get fantastic service too! Like you said, its not your fault you were told to come in to get the card. :)

  86. blumre: I stopped in Ann Taylor Loft and picked up a Madras Jacket similar to the one at J.Crew, but in Blues...so PRETTY! The fit is very flattering, and the price was UNBELIEVABLE!!! It was marked down to $14.99, but I bought another jacket which made it $7.50 (Buy One get one 50% off sale), then I used the educator discount coupon for 20% off, so the Madras jacket only cost me $6.00...I am SO HAPPY with it! It will look really adorable with my Joelle Cami in Navy and a pair of Dark Denim Trouser Jeans or with my White or Khaki Pants...you should go by one of the stores if you get the chance...I think you would really, really like the jacket! :)

  87. Just went to our Crocker store, they have a lot of new stuff out. It seemed like to me that all the new items look luxuriously comfy, you know? Nothing too striking but all the items really scream quality!

Josie: Been to Crocker lately? I had to pay my bill and I had the male manager with me at the register - he's such a nice guy but incredibly hard to get talking. Notice this? I can't tell if he thinks I'm a crazy lady since I practically live at that store.

  88. I was able to pick the catalog up at the store today, and it really is fabulous...so many pretty things...I see ALOT more that I want now. ;)

Remember the "camo" looking top that is pictured with the chino shorts? It is in the catalog, and is called the Watercolor Floral Rosette Tank, and is priced at $98. They also have a dress in the same print...the Watercolor Floral Madison Dress in Slub Silk for $178...I really like the print...very nice mix of colors for Fall, especially with the Jacket colors they have out. :) That one's going on my "wish list"!

  89. FYI: The Watercolor print comes in 2 different colors...Aged Cognac (aka Camo) and Deep Atlantic (Blue). :)

  90. All I can say is ... oh my. I was so curious about what everyone has been talking about these past few posts, with the fall merchandise and the bateau dress. I went in the store today to try on the jersey bateau dress and ended up browsing all their new fall merchandise, which they were in the process of putting out. I tried on most of what everyone has been talking about (Ecole jacket, herringbone Fiona, jersey bateau dress) and have to say I dropped $300 on the herringbone Fiona and a skirt. I tried to find the skirt in the catalog (online and paper) but it's not there! My receipt calls it the cotton taffeta Vicki skirt and it looks like the Belle one, except it has a sort of "belt" that you can tie into a bow.

I think I am still in sticker shock! I didn't even mean to buy anything going in. But I put on the skirt, a long-sleeved white shirt and the Fiona jacket and totally fell in love with my outfit. The herringbone is thin, as people have said, but I think I like it more than the summer one, because of the long sleeves (I was undecided about the bell sleeves of the summer version). Also, it's kind of itchy but I didn't notice it when I wore a shirt underneath.

I live in CA and it doesn't get too cold for too long so I think that a thin wool jacket should be fine. And now I can't buy anything for a loooong time, because I have a strict $400 / month limit on "fun" spending. Whoops!

PS. I thought the Ecole jacket was cute but didn't like the velvet material.

  91. PS. Speaking of Gossip Girl making preppy fashions more popular, the skirt I bought today is kind of like the one the girl in the forefront is wearing, only without the weird puffy bottom hem. :)

  92. One thing I noticed about the cord pencil skirt (item #96175J) was that it closed with a clasp, which I thought let the edge poke out unflatteringly. It looked like no matter how flat your stomach, it would still make your side profile look unflattering!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Melanie: regarding the cord pencil skirt (item #96175J), you can tell in the photo on pg 8 of the catalog the waist isn't laying flat because of the clasp. I have two of the fine whale cord skirts from last year & I think there is an issue with the clasp not laying flat. A few pair of chino shorts from past years are the same way. It's good to mention the clasp issue...they may end up on the sale section faster due to this 'defect'. (I say defect because not all the clasps pooch out like that on their clothes.)

  94. I just got back from my b&m. They had a lot of the new items, but not all of them. I was looking forward to trying on the tartine cardigan, but they didn't have them. I did try on the cord pencil skirt, which I love, and while the waist isn't completely flat, it doesn't stick out too much. I will definitely be buying one (or two or three) once they go on sale. I also tried on the ecole and didn't like the way it laid on my chest (as others have mentioned). While I think the ruffle herringbone is cute, it's not as cute in person nor was it flattering on me. Way too boxy. I love the golden yellow cords, but then I have the yellow summerweight pants from last summer, so yellow pants don't bother me. Their flats are not always comfortable, but I tried on the Italian ballet flats in a 1/2 size bigger than what I wear, and they were so comfortable. Again, I will buy a pair when they go on sale. Many jackets were not in stock, although the sa said they would be getting more in the next couple of weeks. I did score on two adorable crewcut items for my niece - critter embroidered cords with horses and an adorable full skirt with blue and green horses. Can you tell she loves horses?

I had to pre-order the tartine, and they wouldn't honor the 10% plus 15% teacher discount, so the manager gave me a $10 gift card, which I then used on the crewcut purchase! (I did go ahead and apply for a J Crew card, although I will probably rarely use it. I try to stay cc free and use only the debit, hence the reason I can't buy as much as I'd like.)
