Off on a tangent: Boden's and Nordstrom

"Thanks!" to Michelle in the post "J.Crew's Additional 30% Off on Final Sale" post, who let us know that Boden (click here for site) is offering 10% off and free shipping (& free returns) with promo code YB266998. This offer expires 7/20/08.

Also, "thanks!" to La Belle Helene and others in the same post who let us know that Nordstrom (click here for site) is having their Anniversary Sale. Their offer (e.g. prices go up) expires 8/4/08.

  1. I love Boden stuff as well. I have bought sweaters and jackets from them. They provide pretty good size measurements for their garments and have found it pretty easy to buy. I also like their children's stuff.

  2. I have to say, I was looking through the Boden site and love lots of things. Its too bad there isn't a store for me to see the items in person. :)

  3. Nordstrom had some cute pieces. I picked up a couple pair of shoes, some jeans and a sweater today--it was a Semantik cardi (item 224351) in Meridian which has nice button details on the bracelet sleeves and back. I've finally got a pair of pewter flats to go with my JCrew slub lawn pleated skirt (it was 30% off at the B&M in the red color today, also picked up a Piper tank). Something to wear now, and something for later :) I love this time of year...

I haven't tried Boden--how's their sizing? Does it run large/small/true to size?

  4. Amethyst, yes it runs true to size...just remember to convert to UK size

Alexis, the quality is fabulous. you will be pleasantly surprised:)

  5. I went to use the discount code and it said it was invalid! :( I tried it on full-price versus sale merchandise but it was no different. Has anyone else had any luck?

  6. Call in your order, say you are a first time customer and they should give you the discount...Also, you can request a catalog...which are so fun to read...they ask the models questions and give their answers as well as their names...and it should come with a coupon code.

  7. I am on the Boden Mailing List and have considered ordering many, many times before but never have...it's great to hear comments from those who have actually purchased...it sounds like a definite alternative to always shopping J.Crew. :)

  8. FFM: Boden is a great alternative to JCrew. They have fun, fresh clothes and you won't see yourself walking down the street repeatedly. If you still have their summer catalog around (which I don't) their fun skirt in turquoise with the large orange and red sunflower on the side is so pretty and unique. I had to have it!

  9. Boden's summer stuff is on sale and they have some great prices. Some things don't get marked down as much, but they should be doing another markdown soon. And, you can return sale items. Their items are well made, and anon @ 12:15 is right, you don't see yourself coming and going.

  10. I shopped Nordstrom's yesterday and hit the jackpot: Got the coolest plaid jacket that will look great with skirts and jeans, two skirts, a black sheath, and a suit, plus a gold necklace, and a pair of heels.

Of course it's all fall stuff, so it's just sitting in ma chambre right now on display :-)

Oh, and a couple of things I wanted weren't in stock, so the sales associate just did a ship-sent to my home with free shipping.

  11. I also had a great experience at Nordstrom's yesterday. I love that place. I got a beautiful Michael Kors sweater in plum that is very similar in shape to the San Telmo jacket, 3 pairs of cute shoes , and some of my favorite Hanky Panky thongs on sale (Over-share!! But seriously they are the only ones I will wear). I almost bought a pair of Uggs, but I just couldn't justify it right now (they weren't on sale). I had never tried them before, and they were so soft and comfortable ... I didn't care that they looked kind of goofy. It's a good (bad?) thing my fiance was there to reign me in!

I am still salivating over the Great Cord Coat in green and red, and the Trench coat in prune, both from Boden. Help me.

  12. Michelle,
Isn't shopping at Nordstrom's just such a treat? I think the salespeople are super nice and helpful, and never snooty - and the quality and price of the clothes, especially during the Anniversary sale, can't be beat.

Their shoe department is superb. I bought a pair of purple suede heels, and tried on some boots. I may have to go back and get those boots this weekend - I can't stop thinking about how great they are :-)

  13. speaking of sales, do any of you shop at anthropologie? I swear, I've had stuff in my cart since MARCH that still hasn't been marked down. what the heck is going on? they need to have a sale. and soon...:)

  14. kater: I too love Anthropologie and keep stuff in my cart. I don't know they don't mark more down. I would probably buy more from them if they had better sales.

  15. LBH: I love Nordstrom, esp the fall sale. You are right, their customer service is outstanding. I have never ever had an issue with them; on the contrary, their staff is always courteous and goes out of their way to help. I <3 you, Nordstrom! You made shopping fun again :)
