J.Crew Stores: Additional 50% Percent Off Sale

An enormous "thanks!" again goes to J. Crew Insider who was kind enough to share with us that there is a strong possibility that J.Crew stores will have an additional "50% off" sale items starting this Thursday or Friday. Can you believe that? 50% off! (I couldn't believe they had 40% off sale items last week, now it could be 50% off? Love it!!)

J. Crew Insider wanted to stress said that the "additional 50% off" sale is still a possibility (and should also be true for all stores, store wide, if it does happen) :)

Will you be planning on visiting your local J.Crew if they are offering an additional 50% off? Or do you not need to visit the store since your your store already sent back the "good" sale merchandise?

P.S. Thanks again to J. Crew Insider!

  1. 50% is really great, I just wish it would apply to online orders. My local store is already pretty cleared out of all sale merchandise.

  2. kellyann311: I completely agree with you. I don't understand why they won't give a better discount on-line, especially now that they have new items out????

    ReplyDelete
  3. @kellyanne311 I was going to say the same thing. The two stores here are completely depleted of anything worth getting (and have been for the past several weeks). Not even worth the 20 minute drive to get there...

Sure wish they'd have their big summer online sale one of these days. You know it's got to be coming - eventually.... I'm getting stir crazy looking at the same 5 pairs of pants every day!

  4. It can apply to orders placed in the store. The CS rep just needs to speak with someone from the store to verify. I got TONS of stuff via the phone last year when they went to 50% off.

  5. i was in the store yesterday and there was nothing good left in the sale section...just old t-shirts. it's kindof a bummer to be giving %50 off now since there's nothing good in the store any more ;)

  6. Thanks JCrew Insider!

Sadly I think everything in NYC is already sold out, all the sale sections are bare. Greenwich CT still had lots of stuff (sadly I can't get up there this weekend). Do we think the stores will be getting any more sale merchandise in???

  7. Jacquie: That sounds like a great idea! So you use the red phone, give them the item numbers and get the additional 50%?

    ReplyDelete
  8. anon jaquie is right. You can either use the red phone or you can call from home and say I was just at this store can you honor this discount and they should do it if the item is available in stores and not online/catalog only.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Jacqui: When you mentioned that the red phone CS rep just needs to verify with someone in store, do you mean that they just need to verify that there's a 50% off sale going on, or do they need to also verify that they have the requested item in stock in the store? Thanks...

    ReplyDelete
  10. They need to verify the sale... if the item was in stock in the store you wouldn't need to call in about it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  11. They know that there are very few sale items left in the store, so of course, they can give an extra 50% off. My b&m had hardly anything left last week before the 40% so I'm sure there's next to nothing left now. Unless some things go on sale between now and the 50%.

blumre: What if want we want used to be in the stores (before it all got shipped back)? Will they still honor the 50% if we call from the red phone? I might be willing to make the trip downtown if that's the case.

    ReplyDelete
  12. jacquie: thanks for the tip on using the red phone in store to get the discount. Because there really is nothing in any of the stores near me!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I only asked because I've attempted that before and was unsuccessful... the red phone rep said they needed to have the particular item in stock in the store (but not necessarily the same size, which is why you would call). Perhaps another instance of inconsistent policies by J.Crew.

  14. Math Teacher and Anon I dont know... I have used it on Items that used to be in the stores (deco-dot beach dress) but were shipped back to the warehouse. But I am also using it on the domino skirt which is currently in stores... So I think it depends on the rep.

  15. j. crew's policies are really all over the place huh? I get what you're saying anon @ 12:03 and can totally see that happening though...

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have to agree with others...what good is 50% off if items on the sales rack is practically non-existent? Does it mean though that an extra % discount is coming online soon?

I placed an order yesterday and the extra 20 code was still good.

    ReplyDelete
  17. fyi, I just called and ordered an item that is on sale on-line but was not in my store. I told the csr my store has 40% off right now and she just called them to verify the sale while I was on hold and then came back and gave me the 40% discount! YAY! Thanks blumre!

Now let just see if it shows up...;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Nope the item doesn't have to be in-stock. But if it isn't it does help if you have the item number, just in case the look books aren't available, because the CSR needs to know the current in-store selling price.

For instance, the Bateau dress is still coming up as $88, but we all know that in the store it was on sale. So even if it's out of stock, the in-store price will come up as the last selling price.

This is when a great SA or CS comes in mighty handy :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. My CS said the item had to currently be in the store - just not in my size and color!! blah.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Has anyone called a store to see if they know anything? I'm debating on whether to order a Jamie or Candace in navy now or wait til Thursday. I called our store and they hadn't heard of it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. jcrewbug: not the case. I just called and got the discount on an item that says "catalog/jcrew.com only"

but, you're right, it seems it's hit or miss with them lately.

    ReplyDelete
  22. jcrewbug: I don't think the stores want us to know yet. Of course they want to get the most $$ they can for all their items, on sale or not.

When I was in the store yesterday, the Store Manager tried to hide the fact that she knows many of the new fall items will go on sale once the big september roll-out happens.

btw, my store (and many others based on previous posts) have many Jamies left. So you'll be safe to wait a couple of days. just my 2 cents :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. sally: Thanks! Out of curiosity, which is your store? Maybe I can call Wednesday night and put one on hold for myself. I can play games too J Crew!! haha.

    ReplyDelete
  24. oh - and what did you order? :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with all those who said there is nothing in the store to actually get the 50% off of...I am still leary of even ordering from the website if I AM able to get 50% off online, as well...I will have to see if there is anything I am just DYING to have anyways...right now I can't even think of anything, except maybe the Starlet Jacket would be nice, and oh yes...my Kelly in Bright Flame. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. That would be great! Online would be even better - with free shipping. :-)

I received my rewards card today! did anyone else? Check your mailboxes!

    ReplyDelete
  27. The policy seems to be all over the place. My experience has been that she calls and needs to verify the price and discount offered. I guess Jcrew doesn't have time to deal with these details now, especially when they can't get the website and their orders right!
They are probably lax now since they make so many mistakes and customers who go through the trouble to calling and checking are more forgiving knowing that at least they got some kind of a discount. I would think their policy will be straightened out once things are back to normal. I don't see how jcrew can keep their accounting straight if they keep doing this and that without any consistency!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know the sales are picked over, but has anyone noticed any great sales for men or in crewcuts? I went a little crazy at Montgomery in Bethesda when they had an extra 50% off of crewcuts a few years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That's fast! I called this morning and they had said that reward cards were mailed out yesterday!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Quick question: Would anyone know the sale calendar for J.Crew. for example, every year they have a summer sale, fall sale... I'm just curious to know if anyone has ever kept track of when to expect them.

I have TONS to stuff I want to buy, but wondering if it worth waiting until the sale. How long do I have to wait? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. marisa: my b&m had sent the majority of the crewcuts sale items back when the ladies sale stuff went. I don't know if this is true for all stores, though.

    ReplyDelete
  32. jcrewbug: ordered the cashmere two-button tee cardi in Mandarin Orange. That color seems to be sporadically showing up and disappearing so I'm doubtful of it actually showing up. But, 109.99 down to $66 (after 40% off) how's that for a deal! my store is southlake, tx 817-416-1098. Good Luck!

ffm: I so hope your items show up. your letter to crew yesterday CRACKED me up!

anon (and all) I was told that they were sent out last week. My store actually had my card balance and number already so were able to apply it to my purchase yesterday. (even without it physically in hand) you might want to try that.

    ReplyDelete
  33. anon#23: One of my sa told me that their big sales occur every 3 months, starting from their fiscal year which he said started in April. I just have to assume he knows what he's talking about, although many here state that August is a big sale time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. sally: let me know when you get your cashmere cardigan. I have been eyeing that for months now and with an extra 40 or 50, I might even be willing to buy it!

    ReplyDelete
  35. math teacher: No kidding! I have had it in my cart for so long and I keep watching the availability of that color change each day... so, needless to say, I'm wary of it's ACTUAL availability... I'll keep you posted!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wow, J.Crew! This would be such a great sale IF THERE WAS ANY SUMMER STUFF LEFT! It's like promising a kid a lollipop when the bag is empty =(

    ReplyDelete
  37. sally: Thanks, I'll give it a go! I hope you get your order - looks really cute.

blumre: What all did Greenwich have - any pants? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  38. 50% off? I'll have to visit this weekend. I'm lucky enough to have 3 of them within a 60 mi radius.

In other news...I tried on the cashmere cardigan 97072 yesterday and it felt SO good. The Jackie cardigan 85613 is nice, but the cashmere is worth the splurge, esp in black.

  39. The Take20 promo code has stopped working - and stopped me from placing another order, phew. It worked an hour ago.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just left the Jcrew at Rockefeller Plaza, the sale selection was dismal. Even at 50% off, there was nothing left worth purchasing. So I ended up with the new cords in gold - divine!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Lilly - is it 50% off at Columbus circle already?

    ReplyDelete
  42. NO! Still 40% off at Columbus Circle and they didnt know about the 50% off

  43. Hey all! I told my husband the story about my Gift Cards and he wants me to go to my J.Crew this weekend BY MYSELF, and shop for whatever I have been lusting after...I was planning on waiting a couple of weeks until the new merchandise starts to get marked down, but if he is sending me with his blessing and no kids, then I think I better take him up on it. I doubt they will have much to mark down the 50%, and I am so hoping and praying they have gotten the Andrea in by then, too! I may actually get it if they do...just don't know about paying that price, though...I'm worried it will get marked down in the next couple of weeks, and then I will be frustrated...such decisions...so much I want, too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. OK All- WHAT SHOULD I DO

I have 291 in gift cards right now (I know a lot). But I wanted to spend it judiciously.

However, I would love love love the velvet ecole jacket. I would need to have an extra hook and eye closure put on it so it would fit correctly. I could get it for about $145 since I have my teacher's discount. And it is so very pretty! What should I do? I would love to wait for a sale but I dont want it to get sold out from underneath me. And that half my gift card on one item. ARG!

    I am so torn! Help!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Blumre: This is just my opinion, but I would wait to buy the velvet ecole jacket with your gift cards. I have a feeling that there will be plenty available. I also think that in 4-6 weeks, those jackets will go on sale. Considering you really cannot wear those jackets until then (because it is so darn hot outside), you can wait a bit (and spend the difference that you saved on other J.Crew items). But this is just my opinion. Of course, you should buy what you would like to. :)

  46. Uhm, silly question: Can gift cards be refunded?

I plan to get all the fall items I love, and if they get reduced significantly later, I will buy them and return the full-priced items. I have only $50 in gift cards so it's not an issue but for those of worry about their coveted items selling out, would this strategy work?

  47. Hey everyone. Today I received my Favorite Fit Ludlow Wool 120s in the mail. I ordered two pairs (black and navy). Online it still listed as $99, but I used the red phone and called in to say the b&m store has it listed as 49.99 plus the 40% discount. I was lucky enough to see these when they marked down price and there was an additional 25% off. Now they are gone, but I jotted down the item number and called in for the correct size I needed and for them to price match and the additional 40% off. The cs rep needed to speak with a sa to verify the price and I did all this over the phone last Friday and the order came in today. So if you know your item number of what you want, the correct size, just head over to the nearest red phone. I think it's worth it.

  48. Oh and the sticker on the bag that the clothes are packaged in are different. So J Crew has re-organized their computer system and their distribution as well.

On my invoice, there's nothing written as a Final Sale item either, so maybe I can return these if I choose to(?)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Vivian Yes gift cards can be refunded!

    YAY Webby suzy!

Alexis, FFM & Kater: Thank you for talking me down, for now at least. I will wait on the Jacket. I know I need a size 4 and I would love the red but also the blue is fabulous.

FFM: I am so excited for you, what will you buy?

    ReplyDelete
  50. vivian: An item purchased with a gift card can be returned for credit onto another gift card, or for exchange of another item...it would work to purchase and return/repurchase an unworn/tags still on item a few weeks later, if the price is reduced. ;) Definitely a possibility on the Andrea.

    ReplyDelete
  51. blumre: I want to get the Andrea, a Hammered Silk Tank, and a Tartine Cardigan...just don't know if I want to pay full price on them...I will have to see how they look and feel when I try them on before making that kind of decision. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. FFM: I think thats a good way to look at it. See what looks good on and what makes you feel great.

Thanks again for talking me down on the ecole jacket. I almost bought it full price.

Alexis you are so right, I can't even think about wearing it for at least 6 weeks (not in this manhattan heat). I will wait at least 4 weeks to buy it and then I can have it and love it all fall and winter. I am so excited.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I've not had any problems returning any (uhm, many!!) final sale items - either by mail or in the store. Just call CS and explain, and get them to put a note in your order. You can also explain it nicely to the store manager, or attach a nice note along with your returns if returning by mail.

  54. Does anyone own the Sweet Papaya Bubble necklace? If so, do you have a lot to wear it with - or do you think the turquoise color could be worn with more?
