J.Crew Rewards Card & Gift Cards

"Thanks!" to Anonymous at 9:01 AM in the "J.Crew's Additional 20% Off on Final Sale" post who let us know the following:

"Just got off the phone with JCrew credit card services... reward cards are set to be mail around July 30, 31, Aug. 1 time frame. All should be received by Aug. 10."

Also, "thanks!" to Anonymous at 9:03AM in the same post who shared with us the following about gift cards:

"the nice 15 year CS vet told me all gift cards got canceled. It is a system wide problem that they are still working on...no end in site...but they are working on it...."

Hopefully, those who are expecting their reward and gift cards will see them soon! :)

  1. They can't process gift cards right now anyway. So don't anyone get their hopes up. The CS rep last night said they can't process them.

  2. hi there. well i called the j crew store in soho (prince street) and they said that the Fall collection is out on display. the store placed the men's up on tuesday night and the women's up wednesday night. hope this is the same with all b&m stores.

  3. I think the credit card rewards are processed differently than gift cards (they look different anyway), so hopefully they will got out at the end of the month!

    thanks for the info!

  4. Here's another area where J.Crew is really getting steamrolled by Banana Republic. I just got $100 in "Rewards Cards" from Banana Republic for accumulating so many points over the last month. For J.Crew I'll be lucky to get $25 a YEAR. It's ridiculous how much you have to spend to get any sort of rewards at all out of J.Crew. Some of you have said it before, but seriously, what benefit is there to holding a J.Crew card, other than the ever-so-popular 21% interest rate? (to be fair, my Banana Republic card has the same rate, which is why those cards get paid off every month...)

  5. I received my J Crew credit card in June, so I've new to their rewards program. Sofar, I have used it at the b&m store. In the past many of my J Crew purchases have been done on my visa. For all the consumers who have had their online orders missed up, I hope they used a commercial/bank credit card, so at least there is some buyer protection.

  6. I'm really confused, because the credit card people told me several days ago that they had already mailed my reward. This disorganization is totally unprofessional, and I'm afraid I'm going to miss my reward when I move in a couple of weeks. :(

  7. I am so pissed, i just tried to call the CS line (1-800-562-0258) and was informed that I have reached a non-working number of jcrew.com. WTF?????

    ReplyDelete
  8. The credit card rewards are processed differently than the gift cards. Gift cards never expire; rewards due and they are connected to the credit card company.

However, I guess anything is possible--a delay? at this point as JCrew does have some involvedment.

There is a difference though between the two.

    ReplyDelete
  9. DO not due;( Sorry for the error.

    ReplyDelete
  10. And I have to complain about the CS phone number. I got a message telling "your call... in 10 MINUTES".
I buy in JCrew regularly and I never had to wait 10 minutes on the line to talk to a CS representative.
This time I called twice, and both time 10 minutes!

  11. I just recieved a package from J Crew today, but one of the items was missing and on the reciept "MBO" was written by the missing item. Any ideas what this means?

    ReplyDelete
  12. MBO

    Could Be

    Missing, Bombed Out

    Might Be On-its-way

    May-Be Out-of-luck

    Mighty Big Oversight

take your pick... who knows any more with Jcrew. Good Luck though!!!! I hope you find your missing item.

  13. lko: something back-ordered possibly?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ha!! blumre, I like your suggestions better.

Off-topic a bit: My order from 9 July had a back-ordered item (the favorite-fit cords in grey). When I ordered they were supposed to ship on the 10th. When I finally checked on my order, the backorder ship date was 2 August. When I filled out the little survey after I received my order, I mentioned that I was kind of upset that the date had been shoved back again. Well, this morning I had an e-mail that my cords shipped Monday the 21st and are arriving today? Very werid...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Okay, so I went on to buy a few things that were in my cart from before the extra 20% off. For every sale item I had in my shopping bag the sale prices had increased $10-20 for each item making them more expensive today with the extra 20% off. This stinks!

    ReplyDelete
  16. uh oh haus_frau: I would call and check on your order...

for all you know it could be MIA or MITJCA (Missing in the JCrew Abyss). good luck.

  17. wow, i just found this blog, and i love it.
i'm a j.crew addict, so this is great!

  18. embers-3: Welcome aboard- We love to meet new J.Crew Aficionadas! You will find that everyone here is super insightful and helpful too! :)

  19. REALLY BAD....JCrew cancelled a top on me for no reason. It is still in stock; they/computer just cancelled it. I originally placed the order with free shipping. I asked for it on the reorder and was told NO. That offer no longer applies...I USED to spend (in the past year) approx. $1,000 a month with them and this is how I am treated? Regardless, of any amount a customer spends, they should be treated fairly. I have had it with JCrew after 7 years!

    ReplyDelete
  20. It is getting worse...I just got an email from JCrew...I had asked them about a missing item from an order. Their response...call in questions...do not email them anymore as they can't answer emails in a timely manner! What the bleep! I live overseas and can't be put on hold forever paying for the call. My husband would have a fit. I was on hold for 30 minutes last week and he said hang up. Also, Gracie at JCrew said it would be better to email than call in my situation...Confusing...
Also, sad to say they don't want to answer emails anymore......bad, bad JCrew:(

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous at 3:31PM: That really is bad. I know you are super frustrated with them right now (and let's face it- you have every right to be!) but I would call back and ask for the free shipping again. I think you got a really bad CS person on the phone- usually they are a bit more accommodating then the one you got. If they still refuse, then I would ask to speak to a manager (who are usually more empowered to make decisions like providing free shipping).

It's bad business to turn away a customer over an $8-15 shipping charge.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous at 3:36 PM: It is absurd for J.Crew to answer your request with "call it in". Why even offer an option to "email" in the first place then?!? Disappointed in J.Crew!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Alexis, thank you for your advice...I post twice in a row under anonymous....

  24. Does anyone remember or own the black or gray herringbone ruffle jacket from winter 2006? It was wonderfull with a ruffle collar and ruffle pockets. I like it much better than the fiona as a winter/wool jacket.

Don't get me wrong...I own the plaid and papaya fiona but I like it much better as a 3 season jacket than in wool.

  25. I was told yesterday evening that a mass mailing of Gift Cards had gone out on Monday, and should be received within 4-7 business days...I had one that shows as Cancelled, but it really was not...hope it's the same for everyone else.

I don't have the J.Crew Card...I just don't see any kind of reward or benefit to using it...I almost applied a couple of months ago, and now am really glad I didn't after hearing all the stories about it on here. :)

  26. Sort of off topic, but look what I found! It's the video from last September - J.Crew in Paris.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD_YpIm6728

I remember watching this over and over, it was so awesome especially since I'm french and had just been on vacation there. I personally think those were some of the best clothes J.Crew ever made. Doesn't it just warm your heart?

    ReplyDelete
  27. aw man....love that video! thanks for posting it.

I forgot how pretty that blonde model is. or maybe she is just prettier on film than in photos. but geez. She's gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  28. That video got me in a lot of trouble in class last fall because i forgot my computer's sound was on and lets just say I was not taking notes... I was surfing JCrew's website! Haha. My professor was not pleased!

    ReplyDelete
  29. ha ha blumre! that sounds like something I would TOTALLY do...:)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yea, kater, it was totally my big whoops moment of the semester. Other people forget to leave their cell phones off, I forgot that Jcrew's website makes noise! Good job me, right??? Whatever... I still bought everything I wanted too (thank god I have my CC number memorized so I could shop in class, it was my saving grace).

    ReplyDelete
  31. Haha blumre, I was going to use footage of that video for a school project, actually, until I realized I couldn't find it in a decent quality size.

And I agree about the model, my mother said she was different because she didn't look like the typical young twenty-something. I believe J.Crew used her for the "Highland Holiday" and "Argentinian Holiday" catalogs as well. I'll have to go consult my archive haha.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Blumre: Too funny about the video! Also, I memorized my credit card for faster purchasing online at J.Crew too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just a note for you guys: I work at a J Crew and the new catalogs are in and will be on display tomorrow. Also, the new website will go up tomorrow morning, with all the new fall items. I don't know what time they update the website (seems like it must be around 4 AM or so), but check it tomorrow morning.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi all - first time poster here. Alexis - love your blog, it's awesome.

Question for any Canadian customers out there, have any of you received any orders in the past month?

I was just contacted by a JCrew associate by phone to inform me that all of my orders from late June and early July have not been shipped because they cannot send out international orders. How can they tell me this 4 weeks after I placed my order? I have been emailing for the past month asking about the status of my orders and each time the response has been that the packages are on their way.

    ReplyDelete
  35. blumre and alexis: you guys are making me laugh with your credit card memorizing! I got a new number recently when my card was reissued, and I miss having everything memorized. My fiance always knows what's going on now when I go get my wallet from my purse!

    The lengths we go...:)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Alexis: Well I can't sit there in class and whip out the wallet... I mean there are certain skills... and when something goes on sale you need to ACT and ACT FAST.

So I just spoke to my amazing manager and she said if you are worried about finding anything or you dont trust the catalog/internet order call into CS and ask to speak to a personal shopper who can make sure your order gets to you. I think this is a fabulous way of making sure we get our orders and from what she said the personal shoppers are reliable and they have ways of circumventing the system. Good luck everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  37. While I do not live internationally from what my amazing manager said, Jcrew only just realized that thye are having trouble with international orders. Its a huge debacle and I feel so sorry for the CS reps who are still dealing with this mess 4 weeks later.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks robert! Now I'll make sure to wake up early tomorrow morning so I can check the website before work!

That's a nice incentive to wake up early, don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Also, things with J.Crew may be on a path to the solution because my mother placed an order Saturday morning and her package arrived today. I don't know how we got so lucky, but it certainly gives hope.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Robert: Thank you so much for sharing with us. I actually went ahead and made your comment into its own post ("JCrew Website Update: Incentive to Check! :)") so others can see. :)

Kater & Blumre: Its so funny to hear others memorizing their credit card numbers too. Again, I thought I was the only one. Kater, my husband knows when I go for my purse in the mornings it means just one thing- I am buying something! ;)

Blumre, also thanks for the tip on the personal shopper. :)

Katherine: Congrats on getting your package so quickly! That is fantastic!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. The 2 orders I placed on the 18th have UPS Tracking Numbers that are being recycled, but they are supposed to update with my tracking info by tomorrow or Friday, so I am hoping for the best...FINGERS CROSSED...I'll keep you all posted. :)

Once I receive these orders and all of my price adjustments to my CC, I am done with the website for awhile...it's too stressful and time consuming at this point...I will wait until they get it working consistently for awhile before I purchase online again...I hope. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Marny I also live in Canada and had a similar situation. CS called me last week to let me know they had no ETA on my orders- they didn't give me an order number so I called into CS since a couple of my orders were needed for an upcoming business trip and when I had placed the orders, I was assured that the standard 4-7 business days applied and I would receieve them before my trip. Anyway when I called into CS, they got approval from their "Just Ask" department to consolidate all of my outstanding orders, and ship them to me via Fedex...I did this last Thursday and recieved all of my items on Monday.

One of the items from my order (seychelles necklace) did not ship and I was told that they no longer had any in stock. Was quite peeved so they replaced it with the Seahorse double strand necklace at no extra charge (I got the seychelles for $45) and gave me complimentary Canada Air shipping - I called in yesterday and received my necklace today.

So might be worth a call into CS to see what they can do. 4 weeks is ridiculous!!!!!!

Oh and re order status, one of the orders they consolidated and sent to me via fedex last thursday, had been confirmed as "Shipped" last Monday by CS. Obviously not!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. a - thanks so much for the info. I'll call them now - let's see how long I last on hold. I wish J Crew would open some Canadian stores!

    ReplyDelete
  44. FFM: I had a waitlisted Pop On Taffeta Mini in Kelly Green that shipped out on Monday. It has a recycled UPS number too. I had no idea UPS uses old numbers.

I e-mailed CS a question and I got the same "Call us" type of e-mail. Thanks a lot! Doesn't the J. Crew website say that your e-mail will be answered in 24 hours?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hey Marny, I just waited 32 minutes to talk to a cs, yeah it was good to use the speaker phone and work while I waited. I ordered two times on July 1 and as of today they have not been shipped. I now will get another $25 gift card and free express shipping.

The cs told me they have not been shipping international orders, USA orders only. I will wait and if there is no order here I will call again next week and maybe get another gift card.

Eventually this waiting and getting gift cards will pay for all the fall items I saw in the catalog that I want.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks for the advice, I'm hoping MBO is might be on its way! I was surprised at how fast I got the package. I ordered Sunday and it was here around lunchtime today so that makes up for the missing item (just a headband so nothing too terrible whatever happens)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow, J.Crew guy! How many gift cards does that make for you? Also, since we hear so much about what female readers like in the fall catalog, what are some items that you like?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ok...I checked the balance on my 2 promo gift cards, and they have been loaded, however: I received an email about my order being shipped (another UPS recycled tracking number), and decided to check the status online...it is showing as SHORT SHIPPED...yep, you guessed it...they are not shipping one of my Joelle Blouses OR the Kelly Jacket in Bright Flame that I ordered, again! I am so annoyed...trying to get through to CS now, and have another 16 minutes to wait...I HATE this, but I want to know WHY IN THE WORLD THEY SHORT SHIPPED ME AGAIN!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. OH MY GOD! FFM thats awful. Good luck on getting through to them

Yes I had to wait in the store for over an hour yesterday b/c the manager couldn't get through to CS. He ended up giving me a GC and loaded the GC after I left... I dont have time to stand around a JCrew for over an hour!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Melanie, I'm up to three of the $25 gift cards.

The items I think are the best for women are the Ecole jacket, the cadigans ( crystal button colour block), Kelsey jersey tank dress, and the suits. I picked these because they look like fall and are a little different than the usual, at last to my eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Marny, A, jcrew guy in canada - I am also a Canadian shopper. I spent about 30mins on the phone with a CS supervisor yesterday who explained the same not shipping to Canada etc. I asked why they were still taking orders then and he said 'because people are willing to wait' I told him I was willing to wait too, but that everything in my order is sold out so there is nothing to wait for anymore. He called around to stores to check stock for me which he would ship to me for free. Nothing was there so he is sending me a $100 GC for my troubles. He also told me to call him directly when I want to place orders - but that I couldn't give out his number Lol. On another note, he said that the switchboard was showing 86 calls in the queue with a 45 minutes wait time that were all for inquiries. He also said that they could ship fed ex overnight to the boarder but couldn't say what would happen after that. I would suggest waiting to place an order until they sort out the shipping situation which should be in the next few weeks. I am going to use the time to sort out what I want from the new fall catalogue.

    ReplyDelete
  52. yogichicki thanks for the heads up on your orders. The two items I ordered only cost me $50 and were well marked down so I can wait. I'll call again next week and if they still haven't shipped I'll push for the overnight Fed Ex others have been given.

If my items are sold out I'll gladly take another gc, especially if it's a $100.

    Thanks for your help.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I was so surprised that he offered me $100 that I completely forgot to ask about a back ordered item (from May) for my husband. I was really impressed by the CS, he was very understanding about our Canadian situation and was willing to do something that would keep me shopping there. I am very tempted to shop the extra discount sale for some basics and ship to a family member in the US.

    ReplyDelete
  54. blumre: Sure enough...they SHORT SHIPPED me again! I finally got through to CS, who transferred me to a higher level CS, that ended up calling me back after researching the order. She said when they went to package the items that they were no longer available...total BS...they need to get a new system...whoever orders the item first gets it before the person who ordered it in 35th place order or the person who ordered it last...that's only fair...I'm tired of placing orders when there is plenty of available stock and then getting shorted when they actually go to ship out...the CS is filling out a feedback form for me regarding this very issue, and is having another $50 loaded onto my promo card...we'll see if it actually happens...fingers crossed again!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wow FFM that is awful! Yea seriously what the point of ordering if you can't get your item. Cant we jsut go back to the old website and the old system? I was happy then!

    ReplyDelete
  56. JCrew Guy in Canada: Congrats on the multiple gift cards and free shipping! That is awesome. I also agree with you about the Ecole jacket being one of the best items in the catalog so far. You have a good eye for fashion! :)

Yogichicki: Congrats on the $100 gift card!!! That is the highest I have ever heard of them giving out. (The most I received is $20 a couple of times). That is fantastic- although you totally deserved it for just waiting to speak to a CS alone. :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. FFM: So many gift cards! You must be in the high hundreds by now! But I think you totally deserve it ... what you've had to go through really really sucks. :(

    ReplyDelete
  58. melanie: I have been fortunate and apparently lucky that they have at least compensated me with the Gift Cards. I am surprised they aren't doing it for everyone that calls in with major complaints and issues...it's really the least they can do at this point. I have spent so much time and energy dealing with their major screw ups on my orders, that I am really extra glad to recieve the cards...at least it wasn't a complete waste of time.

    ReplyDelete
  59. That should be "receive" and not "recieve": i before e, except after c...anyone remember that one?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Melanie: I was also surprised to hear that everyone isn't getting them. If your order was not processed properly for any reason and you were on hold for a long time or got an automated e-mail response you should be getting something. Its just poor CS to not.

I do feel fortunate to have received gift cards and I also feel fortunate to no longer have to worry about any of my orders since i know one just isnt coming and I happy that everything is resolved.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Speaking of upgrading and short shipping...I want to mention that when I had placed my order at The Children's place last week, they were upgrading their website, as well...they didn't shut it down completely, although it did run a little slower than normal...anyways, they were and still are having a great 50% off sale, so I purchased numerous items for my 3 youngest boys...I received emails that the two orders are coming via FedEx and they are COMPLETE!!! They did NOT short ship me items due to not actually being in stock, they did not overcharge me, and they got the orders out in a timely manner...all while UPGRADING the website! See J.Crew...it CAN be done...the "4 stores" are able to do it, as well as TCP...why can't you??????

    ReplyDelete
  62. FabulousFloridaMommy: Just wanted to say thanks for letting us know about Endless.com. (I don't remember which post you originally mentioned them.)

I recently purchased from the site (Baggu shopping bags) and they delivered the items the next day with free shipping! Fantastic site. I will definitely purchase through them again.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Alexis: You are welcome! Endless.com (as well as Zappos.com) is like INSTANT GRATIFICATION, as far as internet shopping goes! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thanks jcrew guy in canada and yogichiki for sharing your experiences. Last night (after only 40 minutes on hold!) CS agreed to Fedex my orders to Canada so hopefully I'll get everything in a few days.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Marny - I am jealous that you are getting an order. I just didn't find anything to buy:(. I am hoping things will be resolved soon so I can use my GC on the new fall line.
