The Great (Weekly) Exchange

This post (of weekly posts) is for individual members who want to swap/sell/share among yourselves. This post is where you can mention your items and outside listing/ auction site (like eBay and eCrater). Please note: this posting is not for resellers.

Individual members can also request in this post, items that they are looking for and interested in buying. :)

Please note that any transactions are independent of this blog. (Especially since you will be using an outside listing/ auction site like eBay or eCrater.) I have no dealings or interactions with any of the potential communication, listings, or transactions. :) Moreover, please limit comments about items to swap/sell/share to the "Great (Weekly) Exchange" posts. (Refer to "A Quick Note to J.Crew Aficionadas" post.)

Do you have any items you would like to swap/sell/share among yourselves through your outside listing/auction site? Is there an item (or items) that you are looking for and interested in purchasing?

  3. If anybody is interested in the Favorite-Fit Super 120s Ludlow Suiting Trousers, I just listed 4 of them on Ebay this morning - I had purchased them in a size 12 which ended up being too big for me, and with all of Jcrew's shipping/return problems I thought it might be easier just to resell them on my own than return and wait for them to credit me.

They are listed on ebay.ca, and I have them in all 4 colours (navy, coal, espresso and black) in a size 12. Brand new and never worn, with tags still attached, for $24.99. If anyone is interested, the item numbers are as follows:
    300245266392
    300245266711
    300245267643
    300245268009

I'm sorry for posting this on here, its just that I just listed them today and in the past, I haven't been able to sell anything - I just realized today its b/c I can only seem to list on Ebay Canada, and not the main Ebay site...I know there are some Canadians on this site so if you are interested at all, msg me on ebay and bid away! I also have a size 32 Cropped Matchstick Jean and a size 12 Lana top for sale as well as a Size 12 Polka Dot Caterina top in rich aqua

anyone interested please search for me on ebay (seller id aishashahab) - I think its only listed on Ebay Canada though, or email me at as01bc@hotmail.com and I can provide you with the relevant item numbers

    Thanks!!!

  7. ffm: my store in Charleston, SC, (843 534 1640) had some white favorite fit cropped pants when I was there last Thursday. I don't know if they have any left or if that's what you're looking for, but I thought I'd pass it on.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No problem Emily

They really are fantastic trousers! I ended up getting them in a 10. They give you such a long/lean look!

I hope you win them too :-)

  11. Is anyone experiencing EXTREMELY long shipping times recently. I placed and order last Monday morning and it still hasn't been shipped. I called and the rep told me that the were having issues with the "new system" and that some orders placed at the beginning of July have yet to be shipped! How embarressing is that?

    ReplyDelete
  12. this is OT, but has anyone tried on or bought the silky jersey pleated top? i cant tell from the website if it is too baggy. thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  13. melissa, I tried on the XS (am usually a 2 in tops) and it was HUGE! Comfy, but kind of muu-muu-like.

  14. I am looking for 2 SMALL Haley dresses, one in the white and one in the light citron (I have the papaya color). Let me know if you come across them.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  15. thanks silver_lining! i'm usually a 0, so i'm sure the xs would be too big on me too. i thought it would look nice under a suit but not if it hangs down too far.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Reply to anonymous: Yes, I have had major problems with my orders. I placed an order for 2 tops and the critter flip flops, which were shipped and given tracking numbers. The tops came, no flip flops, and I was charged for t hem!!! So last Wednesday, I waited for 25 mins. on hold (because no emails were being answered for 3 days) and they said they would send out a new pair, over night, no charge, PLUS they had gone on sale over that time period, so they would issue a credit. They were supposed to arrive Friday overnight UPS - and here it is Mon. and still no shoes.
AND no correspondence either. What LOUSY customer service.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sorry, OT but I wanted to get a post in before I go to work (wouldn't it be great if there were a forum?).

La Belle Helene, did you find the azalea cashmere T on the site? It does not show up if you search for the item number, but it does show up in sale section and if you search for azalea. I hope it's really there.

Also, blumre, you posted last week about a suiting dress--could you remind me of color and size?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Reply to SuzyQ:

Today makes it one week and I don't even have a tracking number. This is insane. If a publicly traded company in the commercial sector cannot consistently ship products they are in for trouble. I shop at JCrew and BR equally, but I can't stand the service I get at JCrew and have noticed that I have unintentionally been buying much more from BR over JCrew recently. JCrew is in a sad state right now.

  23. boston_brit: Yes, the straps on a regular bra will show on the Elizabeth halter...I wear a strapless one with mine. :)

  24. boston_brit: I use a bra converter to bring the straps inward. Works like a charm, see Ma, no straps - LOL

  26. and I would also like to echo Melissa's comment...I'm thrilled to have found this blog where there are people like me who get excited over all things jcrew :) kudos, Alexis!

  27. Hi Hexicon,
I did find it under sale, but then I got distracted and forgot about it all weekend. I'm thinking of ordering some more things from the fall line, though, and if the tee is still around I'll add it to that order. Thanks for thinking of me :-)

You know, we should both write to J.Crew and tell them to make more items in azalea and violet. I keep looking at the Lucille jacket and picturing how awesome it'd look in a violet or iris ... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. This is probably not the right place...but have to vent. I was on the phone for 29 mins "oh hold" and then told that 7 items from 3 pending orders were no longer available. One order dates back to June 5 and the other two are from 1st week of July.

JCrew needs to stop using their upgrade as an excuse and just get around to actually fixing their internal systems!!!! They take orders and then tell us that inventory no longer available!! What is going on??? What happenned to the JCrew service that we loved.....?

    ReplyDelete
  29. A few years ago, J.Crew had these adorable grosgain ribbon belts. I picked up one that was a wide purple band with blue detailing. I always wish i'd picked up more colors, so anyone who wants to part with a S/M grosgrain belt, just let me know. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. la belle helene and hexicon: count me in on more violet items! I so regret that I didn't get the bella in purple last year. :(

    ReplyDelete
  31. jcrewmommy- I'd consider your slub fleece hoodie, but $59.99 + $9 shipping? Regular price was only $69.50 and it's been on sale for over a month now for $19.99.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I just got off of the phone with customer service too. Uggggh!

I have two orders that I have yet to receive and one that was partially shipped. He was very nice but pretty much using the upgrade as an excuse. Then he told me that they have worked everything out and they are back to business as usual! Really?!?!

I told him that I had received a delivery last monday and only two of the items that I ordered were shipped but I was charged for 4 items. I called and was told that their system was showing that the package hadn't even left yet! CS was going to look into it and get back to me. As of this morning, (one week and counting) I had not heard back. He told me to give them more time.

Then I inquired about another order, he told me that it was delivered on July 11- the day I ordered it????? Unfortunately, he couldn't provide me with a tracking number.

Then I tried to order an uptown bag because they were showing up on the website for $69.99 but of course I wasnt able to add to my shopping cart. He then explained that there are still a few issues with the upgrade........but everything is worked out with their upgrade, right?

    Sorry for the incoherent ramble.

    ReplyDelete
  33. hdayton: did the cs not realize that after he told you that all was working properly, that he proceded to use the excuse that it's still not working correctly? :) It would have been hard for me not to point out the contradiction, although I would have thought it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. hdayton: I feel your pain.... I love JCrew stuff.. but the hassle I have gone through with my last 3 orders is more than I can take. And who has time to spend 20-30 mins on the phone daily following up on orders on a day to day basis.

Before they listened and responded to emails...but now I think they go into a "black hole"...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Math Teacher: I managed to point it out to him. He just didn't seem to "get it" and kept telling me to "give them a little more time"
Meanwhile, my soon to be 4 year old went into the dining room and peed on the carpet because I was on the phone so darn long and he was bored. fun times!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm too scared to order anything off the website with so many people have the most terrible experiences. Personally, it took multiple calls and emails to get price adjustments and student discounts on two orders I placed almost a month ago. Also, I still have yet to receive an order from July 1st. It's absolutely crazy and ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi HDAYTON, Were you able to get the uptown bag? another one of those annoying items that has a sale price until you click through and then it is only full price... Were there certain sale colors?
    thanks

  38. Maggie May: Of course I did not! Though for that price it was worth a call:0)

  39. 3carmelitos: If you don't find any takers for your dress, consider getting it altered. I had the EXACT same issue with a cotton cady dress I bought from J.Crew. I ordered a 6 in final sale last year but needed a 4. The total alterations cost around $40.

  41. RE recent troubles with CS - I mailed back a HEFTY return about the same time their site (and apparently their CS and inventory systems) were relaunched. My return got lost somehow, and after several contacts, they gave me a full refund of the orders I had returned. I was very pleased. I think the web relaunch was rather rickety, but they handled it well in all my encounteres with them. Oh yeah, I returned items to the store and they were having problems too. They kept my items and then snail-mailed me receipts when the returns finally went through. I was very pleased, again. I really adore J Crew.

  42. reply to Molly Porter:
You believe they handled the web site conversion "well"???? Have you read the other posts?

"This is probably not the right place...but have to vent. I was on the phone for 29 mins "oh hold" and then told that 7 items from 3 pending orders were no longer available. One order dates back to June 5 and the other two are from 1st week of July."

This is just one of many. We are talking about a PUBLICLY TRADED company that cannot process an order in an entire month. If my company produced at that rate we would be out of business. This company may produce great clothing, but from a business standpoint they are no more efficient than a lemonade stand.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Correction:

We are talking about a PUBLICLY TRADED company that cannot process an order in TWO ENTIRE entire months.

(This girls order dates back to June 5th, if this was me I would be screaming at the incoherent reps they have working.)

  51. Hi Hdayton and everybody! Okay, in regards to the 69.99 Uptown tote, I have also seen that, but every time I click on it it just shows the regular priced ones. I'm BROKE right now, otherwise I would call and press the issue. I guess you tried though. Anyway, on Friday I kept clicking on the Kate dress (it showed select colors at $19.99), but then it only showed the regular priced colors. I called and asked (in a persistant/anoying way I'm sure. I think I acted stupid and just kept repeating myself "so which color is on sale?") and eventually the guy did locate a handful of them at the lower price (in discontinued colors). True, I haven't gotten a shipping confirmation on this yet, but I did order it. If I were you, I think I would call back and try that, and just keep asking which one is on sale. I don't know how far I would escalate it, but it does seem to me that they should either come up with a sale color or give you one of the regular priced ones at that price.

By the way, my 2 3/4 year old son peed on the rug upstairs last night. I was downstairs so I don't know exactly what happened, but I think my husband was letting him run around without a diaper on.

  52. SuzyQ: Your order situation sounds awful. You should have totally received your shoes by now! Another reminder of why I shouldn't place any online orders right now.

Melissa & AppGal: Thanks for the nice comment about the blog. :) You will find that the real reason this blog is the best is because of the members. Everyone here is super helpful- we are really lucky to have found each other! (P.S. We are also complete enablers when it comes to buying clothes- just keep that in mind!) ;)

Mom-NYC & HDayton: You can always vent here- and frankly you have every right to be upset with J.Crew right now. Your order-situations are unacceptable. I don't think taking orders they know they can't fill is not right.

Mandy: Thank you so much for the code! I went ahead and made it into its own post and updated the coupon section of the blog. Thanks again!!! :)

Anonymous at 2:18 PM: I think Molly Porter recognized that there are issues with their website, but that J.Crew Customer Service handled her issues very well. In that regards, I see where she is coming from. After all, the customer service personnel are usually fabulous (even during the website fiasco). Its just the website/system that sucks. ;)

  53. Hi everyone! Alexis, I usually don't post but I have to say I read the site almost every day. I love it. :)

  55. Thanks (New) Katherine on the nice words about the blog! Good luck with your listing. :)

  56. katherine with the jeans: I looked at your ebay link and saw you were from Lakewood, OH. I'm in Rocky River.

I'm interested in your jeans because I need short jeans to wear with flats. I'm normally a size 27 with some styles I feel like this is really tight. Are these a tight 28? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  57. @3carmelitos and lynn: Agree that 3 might want to try getting her dress altered--might be easier than trying to find the 4. I did the same thing, got a 6P azalea Janey cheap on eBay for a wedding this summer and had to have it taken in at the waist and shoulder straps. It cost about $40.

If I find a super-duper extra-good deal on a great dress that's 1 or even 2 sizes too big I've been known to buy it and have it cut down, since I usually have to have things hemmed and taken in in the waist anyway. A great tailor can really make a difference.

@math teacher, if it makes you feel any better about the purple Bella, after looking at it on-line I drove all the way up to the store to buy it, then walked right past it in the store because I assumed it was the brown. It was not the rich, deep purple I'd hoped for, so I wound up getting the brown instead. It's the azalea Bella that I regret . . .

@A--I hope I didn't steer you wrong on the sizing for super 120s . . . I tried mine on again yesterday and I still felt like it was tight in the butt. Of course, it could just be my butt. Spanx time!

    ReplyDelete
  58. hey mekiki I was wondering what phone number you called to order the kate dress? I saw the $19.99 price too and freaked. Do you remember what discontinued colors they offered? If I can call and get it I'll be forever grateful.

    ReplyDelete
  59. hexicon: thanks, I feel a little better. They make so many rich colors, I wonder why their welsh purple bella couldn't have been a rich purple? I'll keep an eye on ebay, but there are too many new things that I want. I would have to find an incredible deal on a bella - which I wouldn't mind! :) Btw, how pink is the azalea? Is it the same as this year's azalea?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jcrewbug:

Shout out to the westside! :)

I answered your eBay question, and I'll answer here too - these are 98% cotton and 2% elastane, so they have some stretch. I am sometimes between 27 and 28 as well, and these were definitely too big.

sorry but i had to vent...be warned..look at your credit card statement in CLOSE DETAIL

  63. Hi Annie,
I just called the regular J.Crew number I guess, whatever number was in the Contact Us section of the website. The 19.99 colors were the ones that are on ebay (brighter blue and red-tone), but they didn't have any small sizes. I ordered M because I think that was the smallest (in the blue). However, I'm kinda worried that I won't get it, because the order is showing as Open, not Shipped. I will call them tomorrow to see what is up.
P.S. I got 20% off (coupon) and he gave me free shipping, so if I could get it and it anywhere near fit me, it would be very cool!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Annie: I just checked Ebay again, the colors at that price were Bright Flame and Cabana Blue, I ordered the Cabana Blue.
I'm getting really nervous that I'll never see it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Math Teacher, IIRC the Bella in azalea is a little softer than the current azalea, probably because of the variations in the the heathery tweed. I think it was softer than the azalea wool ankle pant, for example (which is just one of the zillion azalea items I own). I think La Belle Helene has one so maybe she can describe it.

I dithered for too long over it because I had a similar jacket from Ann Taylor that I never wear . . . but I never wear it because it's not the "right" pink and it doesn't work well with my J.Crew pinks. And I lost out!

I still keep an eye out for it on eBay.

  70. Several months ago jcrew had a slub cotton tee with graphics on it...I've been looking for the one with the blue bicycle on it, size small. I think they have the same shirt on their sale site but the dreaded $null has been there for weeks (argh!!) Any leads on this?

  71. Here are the things I'm trying to sell:

2 pair City Fit Surplus Chinos size 6T-one pair khaki and one pair rhubarb

1 Cropped Matchstick Overdyed Jean in Poppy (maybe?) size 28

1 off white jacquard dress that i need to take photos of size 6

Also, I got the price adjustment that I was trying for and here is what was said in this morning's email from JCrew to me:

    "We apologize for the
inconvenience; our usual policy is to have the price verified by a store
associate. I am sorry this was not resolved for you sooner."

They are also going to honor the price on any more colors I decide to buy so I'm off to get 2 more! The new checkout is a little too easy when they save your payment info.

    Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Marisa - what was the price adjustment for? and how long did it take to get it?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I ordered Butter Twills last week, the Sunday of the 30% off of sale merch. I emailed them about the 19.99 + 25% at Tysons and got a response saying that they could not adjust, that stores have special pricing and that i need to use the red phone so that associates can enter their info. So I emailed them about how disappointed I was and that my friend was just able to do the exact thing i could not. Then i got a "please call us" email which i also responded to and requested that they email me. So finally this morning, just over a week later, it is resolved. I got my order on Wednesday btw.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thanks for the timeline Marisa, I was wondering how long it takes them to do price adj by email and if they really do them...it seems like every time I call in I get a different response, sometimes its not allowed but one time only, sometimes its no problem at all and sometimes its only if you are on a red phone. It makes no sense especially b/c they do have international customers!! (I live in Canada btw)

  76. a: I have been communicating by email and phone about a price adjustment and it took them almost a month. Of course, I got a little nasty in my last email, but it's done. Strangely enough, they credited me more than the item originally cost. I am going to give it a couple of days to see if they fix it and then I'll email them.

  88. Does anyone own the Sweet Papaya Bubble necklace? If so, do you have a lot to wear it with - or do you think the turquoise color could be worn with more?
