Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

Yes, it is that wonderful time again! :)

"Thanks!" to ccbmum who let us know in the "J.Crew Online: Have you been getting your packages?" post that J.Crew is offering 20% off orders of $175+ with promo code SALEJULY. This offer expires 7/12/08.

  1. Yay, exciting!!! Does anyone know how often these 20% off $XXX usually come out? I wanted to buy a suit sometime soon, but just not yet. I would love to get 20% off when doing so!

  2. GAH! OK, literally half an hour ago I ordered the Super 120s sleeveless dress. This is my tale of woe: I've been watching and waiting for it to go on sale because $180 was more than I wanted to spend, even though I thought maybe if a 20% off coupon comes up I'd go for it. Since I am making the trek to Seattle on Friday I called the store to see if they had it--the girl (who was very helpful) said sorry, we just sold the last one--for $49.99!! It is not reduced on the website. So, I call to see if the website will honor the store sale price. They said yes, but that dress is all sold out, even though in the petite I was able to put it in my bag and check out. (I figured if it actually shipped I would ask for an adjustment.) So now I have to wait to see if they can find it in the stores--for that price I doubt it--or whether it really was in stock and will ship from the site. Now, the question is do I buy the matching Abby jacket with the 20% or wait a little longer to see if it gets marked down . . . . I am so mad that the website never showed the sale on the dress!

  3. P.S. The freeship code worked on my dress order . . . does anyone know if there is a way to combine codes to get free shipping plus the 20% off?

  5. I have the piper tank in ivory and navy. I had in mind that itd be such a functional piece to wear with a blazer. I'm so glad I bought them cuz I love them!

  6. I ordered the Piper tank, but of course, have yet to see it in person. Blah.

  7. Whoa! I wanted to check the site just in case I would want to apply this discount...cough, cough...saw the Printed Linen Antonia dress going for $49.99 and decided to pounce! Once I got to the dress' page, it said "now only $165"!! WHAAAT is going on?!?

  8. does the 20% off work on sale items? anyone try it yet?

  9. Thanks for sharing ccbmum!!

Has anyone seen the wavy glass-bead necklace on sale at their local store?

  10. When I checked my email I saw this coupon code and I noticed this had been added to the fine print at the bottom...

"Mass distribution and/or promotion of this offer by any means, including, but not limited to, electronic transmission, is strictly prohibited."

I was surprised they'd added that after already having stopped their codes on retailmenot and others.

  11. e&smomma: I saw the same thing so I called customer service and they said the price applied to the tangerine print only, which was conveniently sold out!

  12. Does anyone know about how long final sale lasts? I'm so ready for it to be over! I want to order some dresses, especially ones that aren't available in stores, but for the prices they're being offered at, I don't think it's worth not having the option to return.

Also, out of curiosity, do people read past posts? I have been browsing the J.Crew wedding collection lately for my upcoming wedding. I know Alexis had a post about it last month but didn't want to post to it and have no responses, if everyone only checks the most recent posts. :)

  13. When I asked if people read past posts, I meant in the I-have-questions-can-I-post-here-or-should-I-properly-etiquettely-post-in-the-on-topic-post way. :) Sorry if that was unclear!

  14. Hi Everyone, I am not sure how many readers/posters have a JCrew credit card or rewards coming soon (this month) but as soon as people start getting theirs can you post that you have? I have had trouble getting mine...lost in the mail. Thanks.

I would love to have my rewards card to use with the coupon but I bet the coupon will expire before that happens!

  15. Hi All: FREESHIP worked again on a "mock" checkout this morning, 7/10/08.

hexicon: they don't allow you to combine codes...it's either one or the other...sorry. :(

anon@11:34: the code DOES work on Sale Items...just tried it this morning with another "mock" checkout. :)

jcrewmommy: the San Telmo has been on sale in the stores for $49.99 plus and addt'l 25% off...Alexis and I both purchased one for that price PLUS the educator discount, so we only paid $38. The website has them available in all sizes now...try calling CS and telling them the stores have them for the lower price plus 25% addt'l., and you would like to get the same price. My store in Orlando had one left after JC bought her's last evening, so try using them as your reference for the CS rep to call...the number is 407-226-9732. Good Luck! Let us know what happens.

ccbmum: THANKS FOR THE CODE!!! :)

  16. melanie: Many of us receive the posts update through our email, so if we had commented on the Wedding Topic, then we will receive your recent comments. :) Congrats on the wedding...what is the actual date?

  17. lkh (and others) - it sounds like lkh said the 20% off coupon waspassed along from J.Crew by an email. Is this correct? I am signed up for emails from them, but am not receiving them (I just re-signed up for them two days ago, so that may be why.) However, I would love to know so I can be on the lookout for next time and so I can correct the problem with my email if there is one. Thanks!

  18. aly: I have been signed up for emails for a long time & did not receive it either. Maybe cardholders receive them first. I know in the past it seems we all receive emails at different times. :(

  19. I am a cardholder and received nothing via email.

  20. I am a card holder. I did not get this coupon via email.

  21. Rach, jcrewjunkie, anon@8:14 - Thanks for the info. At least I know I'm not the only one not finding out dierctly. I would love it if someone who DID receive the info directly from J.Crew would let us know so, perhaps, we could figure out what's happening to the rest of us (I am also a card holder, so I don't think that's it.) LKH, are you willing to spill the beans, or are you hanging onto your hot, juicy insider info connection? :-)

  22. I have received 20% off email yesterday, I am a cardholder. Not sure why it was not sent out to ALL cardholders.

  23. I went to my local b&m store last night, and they had a lot of items on sale! Here is my report ;)

Piper tanks: Tall people BEWARE! I loved these and was so excited to find that my store had them, but they are so wide that I needed to size down 2 sizes and then they were so tight under the arms that I couldn't put my arms down. :(

San Telmo: I tried this on in black, and it fit nicely, true-to-size, but I couldn't figure out how to wear it. I felt like it needed to be buttoned to keep its shape, but then I looked a bit "stuffy" according to my boyfriend (yes, I'm lucky - he comes shopping with me!). Thoughts/Suggestions?

Cha Cha Dot Pencil Skirt (#93389): I saw this in another store a couple of weekend ago with my Mom and feel in love with the golden olive color. I didn't buy it then because it was final sale and $70. Last night I found it in my size and snagged it for $27! :) Any suggestions for tops to go with it? It looks great with brown, but I would love to have another option.

Cropped Matchsticks: Looked HORRIBLE on me! I was so sad because multiple people commented on how they looked great even if a regular matchstick doesn't work. :( But I thought I remembered someone looking for them in white and my store had a bunch. If you are still looking for them, let me know, and I'll pass along my store information.

Ok, sorry that was really long! :)

  25. yeah, the web site is down for me now, too. this is really so frustrating :(

  26. I received the e-mail and I am *not* a cardholder. I have registered 2 e-mail addresses with J.Crew, and I only received the e-mail via the address not correlated to the bulk of my purchases (which seems counter-intuitive). I'd be very interested to know how they categorize customers and distribute coupons accordingly.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i'm a cardholder but don't use it :) i too wonder why some get it and some don't :)

  28. I receieved the 20% via email. I am NOT a cardholder.

This is one of the first coupons I've received from them in awhile, though. I have no idea how they figure out who to send coupons to!!! That is why it is frustrating that coupons codes are not readily available, since we all seemed to have signed up and want them in our email, but do not get them!

  29. Anyone has the polka-dot San Telmo Jacket? How do you wear it? How much did you purchase it for?

  30. Anonymous at 9:52AM: Both Vivian and I own the Polka dot san telmo. There was a post about it awhile back if you are interested:Surprise Buy: The Polka-dot San Telmo Jacket!

  31. Remember when someone on this blog received a coupon in their catalog? When I had called the CSR said they randomly send them out to customers. Maybe it's the same process for the emails.

  32. Thank you so much, Alexis!

  33. Hi, its a southern thing,
I am a bit surprised by Tall People Beware on the piper tank...wouldn't it be good to be tall and take up the excess width with our height? At least that is what tends to happen with me...I have ordered this tank but have yet to receive it...a little more info. would be helpful if you have time to share:) Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  34. According to my order status and J.Crew customer service, my petite super 120s sleeveless dress is about to ship even though one CSR said they didn't have any. We'll see . . . then we just have to see if they will give me the store sale price even though the store never had the petite version . . . or at least maybe they'll give me the 20% off I could have used if I'd read this blog before I placed my order.

P.S. I got my $19.99 joelle blouse yesterday and it was a complete POS. WAY too big and utterly flimsy, just a baggy silk t-shirt, and the regal purple was more of an electric blue, color was not at all as depicted. $19.99 was too much to pay for this and they should be ashamed of themselves for charging a regular price of $99.

  35. Anon @ 10:08: I normally wear a size 8 in J.Crew tops (sometimes a 6) but am a relatively tall person (5'9"). I tried on the 6 and the 4 in the top, and it was still very full. My excess height made the top look bad because it was shorter (hit high hip) and therefore, ended up looking like a box over my stomach. Not flattering!

Plus I couldn't put my arms down! That is really what I was referring to with the "tall people beware". I guess I'm too tall/long from the top of my shoulder to the bottom of my underarm. Therefore the armhole of the tank was cutting into my underarm. Does that make any sense? I have a feeling I'm not explaining it well...

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's a southern thing...I am grasping what you are saying...I am 5'10 and wear an 8 normally too...we shall see how mine looks on me...thanks for more detail though. I do appreciate you trying...I guess the only thing going for me is that the only thing that make me "tall" is that I have long arms and legs. My mid section is my worst area so am hoping the flowiness covers that area...The rest of me is average proportion all around...Thanks again:)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anon @ 10:38: I know what you mean by the only tall part being your arms and legs. Hopefully yours will look fabulous on you! Then I'll just be jealous... :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. it's a southern thing: I can see what you're saying. I wear regular/petite, and I found the piper tank's armhole to be just right. It fits just right and there is very little extra room there. However, the lower portion is very flowy and has plenty of cloth. I plan to wear it under a blazer most of the times. Otherwise it almost accentuates your midsection.

  39. I have a question: If I placed an order on 7/2 (two of the items are waitlisted and not expected to ship until later this month) can I have CS go back and retroactively use this coupon? Or would I have to cancel my order and then re-do it? Which might be worth it, unless I will loose my place in some sort of virtual "line" for the waitlisted items. Any insights? Thanks everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  40. evelyn: I would definitely call CS and ask them to apply the coupon...since two of the items are waitlisted, and the in-stock items haven't shipped, there should not be a problem getting the discount. Good Luck! Let us know what happens! :)

  41. I recieved the code from an email. I think I just signed up on the website a long time ago and I've gotten promotional emails like that ever since. I don't have a jcrew card, so I assume it's just a 'regular' email. I get emails similar to it pretty often, the last one I got before it was about FREESHIP.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jcrewmommy: I always appreciate the nice comments but I think this time the nice words are actually for FabulousFloridaMommy (for her comment at 6:17 AM). :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. J.Crewmommy, I talked to CS today about the super 120s sleeveless dress. They called the Seattle store to verify that the dress was marked down to $49.99 in the B&M store and they said they will put through a credit for me. Even though the CSR last night swore there were no 6P, my order now says "released." I won't call it good until I actually receive it. Since I really am better off in the petite I'm glad they were willing to give me the sale price, even though the petite was never available at the B&M store.

So, crossing my fingers that the dress does in fact ship, I have to decide if I want to spring for the Abby jacket on the 20% off or wait to see if it gets marked down.
