  1. Based on this email, I would expect new arrivals to be up Thursday, after this code expires ;) .

I have had 5 items in my shopping cart for weeks but was waiting for a code to order. Now, until I see the new outerwear, I am still hesitant to buy. And I have been picking up more than adequate substitues for many of them for little money from AT, BR, etc.

Maybe we will be lucky and some of the new items will be online by Wednesday.

  2. I am curious if this offer (and did the recent 20% off sale) work with the free shipping card? I really wish this was in stores as I am still struggling with the absorbanent shipping fees. Bring on the 20% AND free ship :)

  3. Can anyone comment on the fit and quality of the tie-front cashmere cardigan? I love this sweater and have been waiting for an opportunity like this to get it...any thoughts? Thanks!

  4. I definitely took advantage of this offer... I re-ordered a bunch of stuff that I recently ordered, and haven't even received in the mail yet! But, I ended up saving approx $190, so it was worth it to me.... now I just have to make a bunch of returns, look out JC!

  5. I just wish you could use this with free shipping code! grrrrr

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm so tempted to use this to buy the cashmere V-cardigan and wrap. Been eyeing those forever! But I just splurged at the B&M yesterday, so I'll probably sit this one out.

Anyone know when this quarter's reward cards will be sent out?

  7. I won't order because of the high shipping costs. Shipping and handling on $150 is $15! That is half of the 20% discount. I never
order on-line without a free shipping code.

I've been buying more from Banana Republic - cheaper shipping standard, free shipping codes more often, discounts more often both in store and on line. And, petite sizes in the store!

  8. It's a sign j.crew is recognizing they've got to compete with other mall retailers offering deals, but it's not much. Let's say I order the perfect pencil skirt, price of $118. I order it with free shipping, it's $118. I order it with this code, it's $94.40 + $12.50 shipping = $106.90 --- a whopping savings of $11. Until J.crew gets its shipping charges in line with other retailers offering flat rates, this is pretty piddling ...

    ReplyDelete
  9. Oh, I want to order so bad, but I am afraid that I cannot use the free shipping code.
I need a new code, but I do not want to pay for shipping but I want to get the discount.

    ReplyDelete
  10. i agree with everyone, shipping is what kills this "deal".
la bell helene-i did the same calculation because i've been wanting that skirt forever! :)

  11. I won't buy anything from J.Crew online, ever, without free shipping. So, thanks but no thanks, J.Crew!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wanted to order the professor blazer ($198) but with shipping and tax, the 20% only brings it down to $184. Woo hoo, big freaking deal! And of course, they do this right after the free shipping with my account ended yesterday. I won't be using the code.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Doh! I just placed an order last night!! At least I got to use a free ship code.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yes, this is what my shopping bag had been waiting for . . . I caved and ordered a couple of items because they were back ordered already, and then I was tempted to place a small order with the no-minimum free shipping, but other things I wound up purchasing from other retailers. For example, the Audrey cord from Land's End is all but identical to the matchstick at half the FP and LE offered me free shipping and 25% off to boot!

So no order this week. I'm feeling all shopped-out for now, at least until rewards cards arrive. (And, JC didn't send me this e-mail anyway.)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Won't be jumping on this offer. It's not a great deal when you factor in how much you have to pay for shipping. Also, I've bought way too much this Fall already, and am on a JCrew ban until the holiday rollout. It takes discipline!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, I agree about the shipping issue, completely. However, I am going to take advantage of the 20% off to order the Bronwyn boots, which otherwise would be about $415 total with shipping and tax. This way, I get them for $335. Saves me about $80 so I guess it works out.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maybe they'll add the free shipping to the code later today or tomorrow. I'll order the Heather Carbon schoolboy blazer if they do. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm with Em... won't be buying JC this go-round. Other than the evening primrose cardi & herringbone perfect shirt, there's been nothing compelling in any of their fall rollouts.

On another note, has anyone noticed BR's latest jewelry collection? It's gorgeous! I bought a mixed-metal bracelet with a stunning amethyst-colored stone clasp (not avail online) at the store with a 40% off Wednesdays-only instore promo and came away with a dazzling bracelet for $24! Gigi, if you're reading this, would you check out BR jewelry and give us your reviews?

Also check out Club Monaco's crystal shard statement necklace and Ann Taylor's jewelry collection... so drool-worthy!

  19. This is off topic, I know, but I will be in Indy this weekend and was wondering if the JCrew at Keystone carries shoes? The JCrew here in Louisville doesn't and I would love to see some of the new things IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  20. What with the music in the background?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pass! I agree they need to add free shipping.

The music is from the slideshow in the previous post.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Holiding off on this one. I agree with everyone on how the shipping charges just kills the deal. J. Crew is not being competitive with their incentives.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I was disappointed with my recent trip to J Crew Factory Store that I had to lift up my spirits :) I got another pair of luxe cords in coal, trouser chino, and two Cambridge pocket cardigans for only $150 :)
To me it is a good deal, as in Factory Store I got two t-shirts, Jackie cardigan and two belts and paid $137 ....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nope - will not be joining in. I'm on board with Em... I refuse to pay shipping!

My $ have been going elsewhere lately... great deals and no shipping :) (I think other retailers are getting the wake up call and coming up with really cute offerings this season - BR, M&O, AT, etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I just purchased the cashmere tie front cardigan, pea coat (in barely peach) and FINALLY the pearl cluster necklace. The necklace was onlly $60 with the 20%off...much better than the $55 I spent on ebay for a fake one!

  26. ****SIGH***

    Of course they came out with a sweet offer like this -- I just used my birthday giftcard. I was excited that I got it early & ran right out to order some pencil skirts on Sat. No discount for me :{

On the plus side, I did use the red phone, so I saved on shipping. As a side note, I ordered a few sale (online only) items along with my petite skirts. They didn't charge me on the skirts, but I did see a charge for the sale items. I'm a bit bummed that they charged shipping for the sale items as that sort of countered my savings. Since they were FS I'm pretty stuck with my decision. Talk about insult to injury!

I agree w. my fellow JCAs, the shipping charges will influence my decision to buy.

Hope y'all found fab deals for this promo.

    Heather:D

  27. Couldn't resist the Dutchess stone Bracelet in the stone pumpkin and a few Crewcuts items that I have had my eye on.
I think that they have really cut back on Crewcuts stock, as they have aleady sold out of every size of the puffer coat I wanted for my daughter as well as the adorable Fiona's Frocks tee.
Now I guess I will have to stalk jcrew.com for myself & my kids for the elusive popbacks:)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was sure that they would offer some kind of promo today, so I hold off on the 20% FS over the weekend. I'm going to hold off a little bit more to see if they are going to add a free shipping on the top of the 20%... I have just an item in my cart that I REALLY want to get with the 20% anyway.

  29. IMHO:

    1. J. Crew has abandoned a lot of its preppy styling in the women's section. It actually looks more like Anthro to me with all the ruffles and bows.

    2. The mens section of J. Crew has started to embrace prep and I'm liking the ginghams and plaids of the mens shirts.

    3. I love the J. Crew of old that was similar to Ralph Lauren Rugby, without the numbers on the sleeves or logos like banners (small crest is okay).

    4. You give me a tweed jacket, a cute shirt with jeans or chinos, a cashmere cardigan and cute flats/low heels and I'll follow you anywhere. That's the look I LOVE.

    5. J. Crew is doing Banana and Anthro. Not unlike what Mickey did to Gap with Banana and the styling that went off the rails.

    6. They need a second Fashion Director (whatever) independent of Jenna. And the new men's guy should have a say who they get because I'm starting to think he gets it.

    7. I don't dislike Jenna's styling. I just think she needs some fresh perspective. Look at Fall 2004 through Fall 2007. Especially Fall 2005 and Fall 2006. Tweed! Herringbone! A grossgrain bow on a suede or herringbone shoe. Grossgrain rim on a tweed shoe with jewels on the toe. Tweed with patch elbows! Prep with a BRITISH influence. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  30. Oh, this is such a good reminder that I NEED to save my pennies to buy that plum velvet blazer. But if all else fails... Santa, I've been so very good this year.... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Laura,

I agree with everything you said! Men's keeps getting stronger and streamlined, while the women's section has an identity crisis.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Laura-

I TOTALLY agree with you on #7. That was what made me into the lemming that I am or was. I have not been that impressed with the recent rollouts. Even November's rollout looks pretty much the same. I guess I won't be buying much once again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Amen, Laura! Where did the classic, classy, timeless J.Crew go? :(

    ReplyDelete
  34. casual-crew: I was wondering the same thing!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I caved too and bought a cashmere cardigan in light berry. Though I hate that the cashmere is so high maintenance, I could not resist the berry color, which is gorgeous!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Laura,
I think it's funny that you say Jenna needs fresh perspective yet you're dwelling on what the brand was instead of what it can be. I'll be the first to admit that I adore British inspired prep (Brideshead Revisited played a huge influence on my fashion choices), but I think if you're expecting one retailer to provide you with your singular styling needs forever then you'll end up suffering in the long run. Brands evolve. I think J.Crew is trying to expand its base because for a long time it was seen as inaccessible to a large portion of the population that wasn't into expensive, preppy, tweedy chinos.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ashley,

Sure, retailers should evolve and try to expand into new markets. Don't you think jc is more expensive now, though? Because they are, and the quality has not increased accordingly. $49.50 for a tissue tee with sequins shaped like a uterus. hmm...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ashley, one could say "don't look to one brand to solve your fashion desires" and that's totally fair. But does anyone get that J. Crew, is a reference to collegiate rowing made popular back to the 1800s in British universities such as Eton? The British Prep is/was what they stood for. If they become generic, there is no reason NOT to shop their prices against Banana, AT, Talbots, F21 or any other generic clothing store. As I said on Gigi's blog, prices become an issue for me when I'm not that in love with the item, or if I can find that same item at any number of resources.

    J. Crew used to do jackets like this: http://www.rugby.com/shop/item.aspx?productId=3757428&categoryId=3138774&cp=3138869

And variations of that in colors both bright and muted such as this: http://www.rugby.com/shop/item.aspx?productId=3691430&categoryId=3138774&cp=3138869.

Yes, the answer is to go to other retailers including Ralph, which I do. But J. Crew was my "go to" and Fall was their best season.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Tastymoog,
I never said I agreed with the prices of some of the things they're shilling. I've never been a fan of ANY brand trying to sell a t-shirt for more than $30 that isn't spun out of gold. I just think it's interesting that so many want J.Crew to be the same brand that it was for those 3 or 4 years when THEY happened to really enjoy the products. And for those talking about how much they enjoy the menswear of late. It seems to just be a reflection of the overall trend in menswear of embracing this new rugged Americana. I don't dislike it but, they're also evolving.

  41. Congrats to those who used this offer! :) For those JCAs who held off because of the cost of shipping... I totally get it! For some items, the cost of shipping neutralizes the savings from the 20% off.

I like FFM's thinking- I hope J.Crew decides to add free shipping to this deal too! :)

Casual Crew: IRL answer is spot on. The music is from the sneak peak to the Nov. Catalog slide show. Unfortunately, I cannot disable the music either. (I tried, but couldn't figure out how.) The first time I heard the song on the site, I was a bit startled not knowing where it was coming from! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. tweedy, when you get that cardigan in berry, can you pop in and give a color review? I've been eyeing that one in the V-neck cardi and would love to know how it look IRL. :)

    Congrats on your purchase!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Without free shipping, no thanks. I guess if I didn't have a store close to me I might take advantage, but the 20% BARELY makes up for the shipping cost ... I could just go get it at my store and have instant gratification for a couple extra dollars! It's something at least... but I wish you could use it in the store, though!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks Alexis and IRL, I had not read the 2nd post when I posted my comment.

I am not going to take advantage of this latest promo, shipping costs and not sure of the sizing stops me from placing an order.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Has anyone purchased the Vintage Cord Pencil skirt? I want to get it but since it's not available in stores I'd like to know more about it. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Laura,
J.Crew also used to have little whales all over everything. Do you lament the loss of that phase of the brand? I'm sure someone out there does. J.Crew is a mass produced brand whether you want it to be or not. I understand your desire to not want to wear "generic" clothing, but companies sometimes embrace certain trends that they believe will help them grow. And to be clear, I'm not here to be some kind of J.Crew apologist, but there are plenty of less "generic" brands that go through periods of rebranding.

And if you're looking for tweedy clothes that aren't particularly generic try Boden or Toast or Brora.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Heather-call them up and get an adjustment on your skirts. That might ease the pain for the shipping they charged you on the sale stuff (which is honestly really absurd given the money they are making off your full price skirts).

Time to beat a dead horse...I really, really hate that they make so much $ off of shipping. Do you know that you are charged tax on your shipping fees as well? That can really jack up the total and it is often an outrageous increase in the once "sale" price when it's all factored in.
Once I spoke to a mgr. via the 800 line about it and she gave me an earful about how they are really charging that amount for ME. Ha! She had some bogus reasons for the outlandish charges that she kept bringing back to "it's for your protection" but I am sorry UPS gives up to $100 insurance protection included in the fee. Beyond $100 coverage is only a tiny bit more $. I am not buying it...at all.

I really, really cannot believe what Mickey doesn't see or care to embrace. Everyone feels this way about their outlandish shipping fees. Can you imagine the increase in sales beyond what they will see today (with the 20 off promo) if they offered even a nice reasonable flat fee, let alone a free ship? Right now it is actually paralyzing people from ordering even with 20% off. We should start a petition:0) he,he! Stepping down now;)

BTW: Tweedy that color cardi is most DI-VINE--hope you love it. Wish it were on sale. In fact, if they would put things on promo/sale prices (like the time earlier in the year) we could use the free ship codes! I can see that I am going to lose out this year on the really special colors of cashmere that I buy on super sale. They are already selling out:( Does anyone know if their store carries the cashmere cardigans? Can anyone comment on fit this year?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I will not use this discount unless they offer free shipping and post some new arrivals in time. There are some jewelry pieces that I really want, but I can get them at my b&m with the teacher discount and save money due to the shipping cost. I would also like the cord skirt and some more cords, but I can wait on those since I know they'll eventually get marked down. I already bought the deep aubergine since I missed those for the last 2 years due to waiting and my size selling out. :)

As far as liking what I see, there are items that I like and items that I don't. That's always true for me for many stores. I used to shop ATL all the time, but last year I wasn't impressed at all. They're starting to turn it around :), so I'm shopping more there now. Same with BR - there are seasons where I don't like anything and seasons where I like most everything.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can relate to the sentiment of "JCrew isn't what it used to be." It's not that I want them to have all the same styles season after season but I do recall in the past they had some preppy go-to pieces and some pieces that were truly unique and stylish, ahead of the trends. I would be interested in either but but now they seem to have neither and that is what I find most disappointing. The JCrew I that I really enjoyed would be past the ruffles, etc. by the time every other retailer is doing the same. They would be much more distinctive and desirable in their offerings and I read that lament repeatedly on this and other blogs recently so it's not just me.

Fall was traditionally the biggest season for JCrew with lots of new and fresh styles. *That* is what I really miss and don't see this year. I realize that retailers are being cautious but the same-old, same-old isn't going to cut it. After several years of conspicuous consumption by most people, we don't need more of the same at this point. If it's not really great or fresh and new, forget it. After all, you can only spend your money once. It better be good.

    ReplyDelete
  50. There's GOT to be a happy medium between whale/ladybug/bee embroidered chino shorts and silk sweat/cargo/harem pants. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I echo others as well... Without Free Shipping with the 20% off I will not be taking advantage of this offer. I'd rather spend my $$ on retailers who offer me the best deal.
Lately BR has similar styles or better ones I'm looking into. Don't forget BR's in-store 40% off one regular item every Wednesday this month.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I just had a thought - will they let us pre-order from the November catalog with the 20% off? I might order then, but I'd need some item numbers since I don't have a catalog yet.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ack, I'm torn. I've been waiting for this sale, as I'd love to order the Campo handbag. However, I was also hoping against hope that they'd throw in free shipping, too, but I guess that was foolish on my part. I detest their shipping costs. DETEST. Earlier this summer I actually filled out one of their online surveys and complained about it. Within 24 hours a CS rep had responded, which I did not expect. I can't remember her exact response, but she was able to completely justify it their shipping rates. Ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times I have not placed an order because of the shipping. I'd much rather order items from BR or Gap, as I get free shipping with my Luxe card. And I'm really digging ATL lately. Hell, even Lands' End isn't looking bad! I'm so pissed I bought my Matchstick cords from JC when I could have gotten something comprable from LE so MUCH cheaper! AND free shipping!!

I'm afraid that if I don't order the Campo now it'll eventually go on Final Sale, and there's NO WAY in hell I'm going to order it then. Final Sale was born of the devil. Our B&M is teeny tiny and doesn't carry much in the way of accessories, so I can't check it out ahead of time. If I'm going to spend that much on a handbag, I need to love it. And while 20% off makes it look more appealing, the $15 it costs to ship it does not. Throw us a bone, J.Crew, and pony up the shipping costs!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Maybe the current designers at Crew think the ruffles/chiffons are preppy 2.0? lol

Yes, brands do evolve but the core Crew brand is/was the classic English prep style, no?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Had a really unpleasant experience this afternoon at j.crew - stopped by store to pick up a catalogue, and since none were out, even Oct., I asked an SA for one. She said they didn't have any, then said they had the new ones, and that she'd ask her manager if she could give me one. I'm a few paces behind her, hear her ask, the mgr. says "tell her we don't have any," then when sa asks about giving me a nov. one, he wrinkled his nose and snapped "why does she want to see the new catalogue?" At this point, I turned on my pretty little heel and walked out. He must have realized I overheard the exchange, bec. he caught up to me and tried to explain about not being able to order the items in the nov. cat. yet. Who cares? Let me see it, and if I can't order it till next week, so what? His attitude was so unwelcome, so unprofessional, so obnoxious, I wrote a note to customer service, and I almost never do that.

Soothed myself with a Starbucks treat (mmm, pumpkin spice latte & pumpkin scone), and then went over to Ann Taylor next, and found a gold mine, as they have extra 40% off sale, plus I had an offer for another 10% off.

  56. Laura,
Totally agree with your post about tweed. Love, love, love tweed. Do you remember the Greenwich tweed stuff (I think it was fall 2005). Loved it. Ditto with the Stella tweed (lovely golden threads, came in skirt, heels, little handbag, cloche), and jewel accents. Today I'm wearing my black Bella from 2007; last Friday, I wore my Cheshire jacket. I used to love j.crew's fall collections, but the last two have been disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @ Laura, I'm totally with you. J.Crew was about the reinvention of prep season-to-season, with consistent staples and standout pieces. Garments weren't generic, per se, but on the whole seemed designed to work with one's entire wardrobe (as opposed to the sparkle/sequin/embroidery/ribbon/ruffle that gives a piece less mileage). The men's side has done its research - their collabs are with high profile or boutique purveyors of quality (e.g. Mr. Freedom), are paying attention to selvage denim and the Americana/workwear overall, which plays directly into their brand identity. The women's side only gets me with a few pieces anymore - the quality is as dubious on certain items as the styling, and I will probably pay more than picking up a man's flannel or camp socks that are well-constructed. They're hard to find in the states (only Pas de Deux in NY carries them so far), but I recommended checking out the Japanese line, FWK by Engineered Garments.

  58. hee hee, uterus tee! It's so true, and yet I actually like that tee!

I agree that the shipping prices are way too high. But one thing as a Canadian buyer that I've always appreciated is that when JC offers a free ship promotion, they extend it internationally. Not all retailers do!

  59. Rikki: I have the cord pencil skirt from this year and LOVE it. You can see pictures of it and read a mini-review here (it is the 3rd pic down). The material is nice and stretchy and it fits tts. Hope this helps!

  60. AppGal, thanks for mentioning your cord skirt. I'm thinking about ordering it with the 20% off promo. the glazed pecan is my fave colour, and it looks great on you!

  61. Just an FYI,
If you know your personal shopper at a store, call him/her she not only got the extra 20% off and free shipping (on full priced items) but also applied the student discount

your personal shopper at j crew.com will also honor 2 codes (and free shipping if you do an exchange)

and to the writer of the blog... i got the patent campo in eggplant !

  62. J.Crew spotted on "One Tree Hill" - the Imperial tee (white v-neck with sparkles)!!

  63. La Belle Helene, yes I remember the Greenwich pieces and I stupidly didn't get that green tweed coat, I am such a moron. The problem is, I thought there would be more. I didn't know I needed to buy every single thing, that it would go away. There were these tweed midheels, ornate as all get out, with a cluster of jewels, etc. and I returned them because I thought maybe they were too much. Did I say moron? Yep!

And there was this pinkish red tweed Lexi jacket with rep tie under the collar, so cute, and I delayed buying it until it was gone (weep). So many great tweed and herringbone pieces and I split my purchases between the jackets and the cashmere. If I had known what I know now, I would have only bought the jackets and bought as many as I could. I liked the cashmere too though.

tastymoog I know the critters got made fun of, but, every once in a while, one of those cashmere critter sweaters with a frog would be sort of cute. Didn't buy them though.

And that second jacket I posted on Rugby, I know that green is overly bright, but if that same jacket came in a heathered olive, it would be hanging in my closet.

I have this skirt, got in in grey.
IMO skirt is kind of "stiff", because is not as soft as the luxe cords I recently ordered. Also sizing is true, if not a little tighter...
    I don't know if this helps .
    Shoot, if any questions :)

  65. I'm just about over Jcrew at this point. I think their clothing is expensive (quality is lacking these days) and customer service is terrible. I have two stores in my city and the main one has the most snotty people you could ever come across. They act ridiculous if you go to make a return and are just never very friendly. The other store has great customer service, but are always lacking in sizes I need.
I refuse to pay for shipping with the ridiculous rates Jcrew offers. I love how they end the promotions (like the "VIP" free shipping) a day before they send out the 20% off code.
I'm chosing other stores like ATL, BR, and Anthropologie (Anthro doesn't have free shipping either, but they are always very nice and if your store doesn't have the item, you can get free shipping.
Jcrew doesn't care because they know a good majority of us will continue to shop with them.
    Same ole...same ole..

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm not going to use this code, since I'm still trying to stick to not ordering if I'm still expecting a past order. I ordered the cashmere cardi in the mustard since I didn't get one, or the Jackie, in Honey Glaze last year. I got a HG sweater dress, though, and ended up loving the color on, so I got the mustard to make up for it. I was lucky enough to order with free ship, then a pleasant email exchange with CS got me the EXTRA20, since I'd placed the order the day before the EXTRA started. I am much more likely to keep the cardi with the extra percent off, I have to order some things just to check on sizing, etc., since my B&M is on the smaller side, too. Sweetsy, I'll post on sizing vs. last year on Wed. or Thurs. after I have a chance to try my new sweater on.

The returns thing is the main reason I despise the lack of code stacking. The only things I buy at the store are tees, socks, and the occasional jersey dress for myself, and the random oxford for my husband. If I use a plain percent off code, and do the inevitable return, I've paid for the privilege of trying on a couple different sizes. It's not like sizing and quality are consistent enough to be sure of what you're getting! (Men's is OK about sizing, but wos. and CC? Not bloody likely.) Like Em, I can't justify ordering without free shipping, period.
If we really aren't getting a JINGLEesque promo period this holiday, I guess all my brothers and pop will be going without the usual rainbow of cotton cashmere under the tree.

I second Christy's kudos to Anthro's CS. I called a few days ago about a week old sweater that lost a button, and didn't have the extra attached. They were quick to waive the shipping fee on a new one, and emailed me a free ship label while I was on the phone with them. The woman I spoke to couldn't have been more apologetic or pleasant, and that is absolutely typical of the service I always get from them. Their free ship that lasted like four months REALLY spoiled me, and I've become addicted to reading and writing reviews on the website. It's not a fun and interactive forum like this, but you notice that this isn't affiliated with JC! It's funny now, looking at the website revamps of these two stores, what strides one made to provide a better shopping experience, and the other... made it so you didn't have to re-input your credit card info every time you place an order. I love you, dear JC, thank you for sending me Jasper, but some issues are just not being dealt with.

  67. La Belle Helene: I totally second your comment on Ann Taylor! I am getting ready to review some items on my blog! I went to a local store on Friday that was having 50% all tops - not buy 1 get 1 at 50% off - just 50% OFF ALL TOPS!! Unbelievable! Plus, 40% off sale! There went another unexpected $200 shopping spree!

PS: I ALSO enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte from SB while shopping! haha! We should be shopping buddies! Hope you got some great deals, too!

  68. Just discovered Anthro has petite sizes!

Has anyone purchased petite sized Anthro pants? How does their petite sizing compare to J.Crew?

  69. Ha! Laura you are reminding me of that pinkish Tweed Lexi jacket! It's hanging in my back-up closet. I haven't worn it in some time now:)Great tweed with the fun rep colors under the collar. I must pull that one out and re-visit.

  71. Did anyone notice that J.Crew took out all of their Fjallraven backpacks? They had some mini ones and the regular size ones online yeterday. Then once the 20% off coupon came out today, they were all gone! Sneaky ...

  72. Laura, I think that you hit the nail on the head (at least for me) - I didn't buy up all of last season's pieces because I also thought that there would be more. I'm also kicking myself for not nabbing the Greenwich coat off of eBay last year, or the tweed Juliette jacket in azalea (anybody remember that one - it had a ruffled placket (before ruffles were overdone)and a Peter Pan collar?), or the ivory wool tuxedo shift dress with black trim from Holiday 05/06. I thought that JC would continue to outdo itself and if I missed out on one of those pieces, something similar would come around. Now it just seems like the 'something similar' is raw-edged chiffon, asymmetrical ruffles, resin jewels, etc. JC's offerings are looking like that of every other mall store, and that is not what got me shopping with them in the first place. I saw a necklace at ATL last week that had a plethora of jewels and stuff sewn on a piece of chiffon with a ribbon tie, similar to JC's "one-of-a-kind" Bird of Paradise necklace. Like JCA's, I've seen so many similar items at other stores it would just be silly to purchase from JC if I could get a better deal on almost the same thing elsewhere. *shrug* At this point, I think that I could guess (with some accuracy) what the next 6 catalogs would look like.

  73. This latest promo is not a sign that JC is keeping up with the other retailers, they have this 20%off twice a year.

FS means very little to me if the quality is not there. I had the fs code I only used it once the day before the extra 20 came on. CS refused my request to apply it after the fact because I had already used my one time courtesy. I am returning that parcel back to them when I receive it tomorrow. It is not the fact they said no, it was the way CS said it so snotty. J Crew CS is the luck of the draw I am tired of playing these games, their qualty sucks, and their latest offerings can be found just about anywhere for less money and better quality. My matchstick jeans and cords have stretched out beyond 1 size and I sized down. Their cashmere quality is well document here on this blog, as well as the holey tees.

    Sorry for the long post.

  74. Laura,
I remember exactly what shoes you're talking about - they were exquisite, and the only reason I didn't get them was because j.crew's shoes do not fit me well at all. I did get the Greenwich tweed jacket, skirt, handbag and hat (which also had a velvet teal ribbon trim with jewel) - of course, I don't wear it all at the same time. That and the Stella tweed skirt and bucket hat are still some of my favorite j.crew items. Too bad they make nothing like that any more - just ruffles, frayed chiffon, repeat.

Lindsey B: Haha, that would be fun. Those pumpkin spice lattes are just perfect for shopping fall clothes :-) I walked out of AT with two jackets, three skirts and two tops. Remember the scene in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts goes back to the snotty store and tells the salespeople how they made a mistake? I felt like doing that with the snotty j.crew sa.

  75. They also took all of the men's collaborations down for the sale. No red wing boots or any of the others...lame.

  76. Tried to buy a timex yesterday but found that they have removed them which is very sneaky.

Anyway, got a better military watch with the money saved.

Unless they offer fs with %off, I'll be holding off.

The new arrivals are already up, just in time before the code expires tonight
