A super big "thanks!" to Kathryn (check out her {amazing} blog, My Bag Overfloweth) who was kind enough to share several images of J.Crew's latest November 2009 catalog! :) Kathryn even provided names & prices of the items featured on the pages— how awesome is she!!!
There are lots of lovely things being offered this time around- like the Cashmere Bisous V-Neck Sweater ($178). Although I am not going to lie, there are some crazy pieces being offered too (hello Shadow Sherling Jacket for $2,500 and the Linen-Silk City Pant for $98— I am talking about you two!)
This probably means the catalog will be sent to us in the next week or two. {yey!} I really thought the next roll-out for new arrivals online would happen last week, but that didn't happen. I am guessing it will become available online this week. {fingers crossed!}

What are your thoughts on the items slated for upcoming Fall 2009? Are you excited or disappointed? Which items do you love or would leave? ;)

i am excited!! i was just at jcrew this past weekend and picked up some great tops and jewelry !!!
ReplyDeleteAlexis, I was told by a manager that new items would be online this week.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing the evie top and the sweater with the sequins on the pockets (can't remember the name). I like the cashmere, too, but still undecided on buying it from JC. I also hope my b&m gets some of the flats. Of course, it will probably be 3-4 weeks before I get my new catalog.
Thanks for sharing, Kathryn! I'm pretty much ruffled/tiered/pleated out and feel like I've been looking at the same catalog for the last six months. I'm looking forward to seeing more of their outerwear, though.
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone! I picked up the new catalog at my b&m this past weekend and I have to say there are many interesting items that I can't wait to see on line. Although I have a decent store near me I find I buy mostly on line because there is just so much more of a selection. Can't wait to see that ruffle jacket!
ReplyDeleteI agree with silver_lining... Let's move on from the ruffles and ribbons, shall we? Although the Marlene pumps look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am really liking a lot of it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites:
Organza Sash Tissue Tank
Crinkle Chiffon Ruffle Cardi
Evie top in all of the colors!
One of my local stores had very little in the way of new arrivals yesterday. I picked up a few things that I need to review later.
silk. sweatpants.
ReplyDeleteD:
Gosh I love seeing new rollouts. & seeing the bling makes me feel all Christmas-y! I like the Glimmer Pocket Cardi as a cover up for holiday outings.
ReplyDeletei'm excited to see these items much more than i was for the last catalog. although, i agree with silver_lining, i am all ruffled-out. almost everyday at work, someone comments on how much i love ruffles!
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited to see the new rollout too! (Still haven't made it out to the B&M's to see what they have in-store). But, like the others I'm SUPER tired of the ruffles, and what looks to be the new trend of "let's just tack on a giant bow and call it new" -- YUCK. I miss the days when they had classic structured pieces. Don't we say that with every new rollout? Jenna needs some new inspiration. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteLooks just like the last 3 or 4 rollouts...
ReplyDeleteI was at my B&M on Friday and tried on most of new arrivals. I left empty handed as nothing really was that great. I really miss the jackets of the last couple of years and the boyfriend blazer just isn't doing anything for me. I agree with rats that I miss the old tailoring.
I do love the Evie cami in the pictures, but nothing else really interests me.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI just received an email from Jcrew for 20% off all online orders of $150 or more with code SHOPFALL. Offer good till Wed at 11:59PM.
Happy Shopping!
Maria
I just got the 20% off coupon (SHOPFALL) as well. I'd love to use it on a few of the new items. Anyone know when they'll be online? Hopefully before the coupon expires!
ReplyDeletei love the polka dot cardigan and the ribbon top dress.
ReplyDeletebut, am i now going to have to boycot jcrew b/c they have shearling coats! that's not just a regular wool (hair cut off the sheep), it's the whole pelt.... not good jcrew, not good.
Thanks for the new pics! The Pippa peep toes are the only thing that caught my eye in a good way. The silk sweatpants?!?! What the flibertigibbet is up with those? You should only be allowed to wear silk lounge pants in public to a Dynasty theme party, with a turban and shoulder pads.
ReplyDeleteOMG - a 20% off coupon! And actual good coupon that's not just for final sale stuff! Does Mickey know this went out??!!!! haha
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathryn--especially for listing the item names and prices. Very helpful!
ReplyDeleteI saw that cami shown in Jenna's picks yesterday and it's lovely. I usually don't go crazy over the camis--just don't look good in them--but this one had more delicate trim and embroidery and was the perfect shade of pale pink.
I love that matelasse skirt, too. Some lovely cardigans as well.
Thanks for sharing these images! Always fun to see the new catalogs (esp. those early sneak peeks:) I am seeing a little more c-r-a-z-y going on with some of this stuff and appreciate the LOL from CheesyGoodness re: the silk pants-he, he:) You gotta wonder why they think they would be considered high-fashion enough to even place some of these items in their catalog. weird.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of items that look interesting and normal enough;) although I agree a lot of these "looks" and add-a-puff here or there creations are kinda getting tiresome.
Wonder how many less frequent JC buyers are looking at the catalog and getting excited by what they see or if they feel no different than us because now ALL retailers are adding ruffles and flowers etc. to their garments.
Oh and I meant to add..looks like there are some jewel tones and darker colors this time around so that should excite many JCAs!
ReplyDeleteI am noticing that things are indeed selling out as some predicted. Even some of the more basic things they used to make gobs of in every color (such as cambridge cable cardigans) are selling out. I don't think they are messing around this year. They aren't gonna get burnt again (no TURKEY or HOHOHO codes this time around-LOL!)
Yes, with everyone I saw those silk pajama pan/sweatpant thinks and was like what?! With the turban/dynasty theme party - that is a very funny image. I mean sorry, but what are I thinking. And I can guarantee there will be an earnest PS shopper somewhere who will assure us the pants do in fact look "wonderful" IRL.. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, some pretty things. I like the cardi with the sequin pockets. Wonder what the knit is - hopefully not a pilling dream yarn.
oops - really sorry for all the typos! Not enough coffee (I can spell. Usually)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pics!! Ooh lots of nice new goodies!! And the requisite handful of WTHs. Bah, City pant!!! Looks like shrunken PJ pants. I wonder how much the bib necklace will cost - looks pricey!
ReplyDeleteThe only things that I would definitely purchase are the Marlene criss cross platforms and the Pippa peep toes. Staying away from the embellished tees, pleats and crazy chiffon.... I'm tired of those, and they don't stand up well IMO. Looking to put together a classic but interesting wardrobe that I can wear for seasons to come, so I am really taking a hard look at each piece that I purchase.
ReplyDeletethanks for the preview! at the b&m i got sucked in by the cutest polka dot scarf, but nothing in the catalog so far that i must have : )
ReplyDeleteI know I'm a little affected in viewing this sneak preview by having just read thru Gigi's post on J. Crew's uninviting pricing. But I must say that not one piece here got my heart going pitter-patter. (American Express won't be happy to hear that. ;-))
ReplyDeleteRuffles redone, ruffles recycled, ruffles repositioned. With flowers. Again. Oy.
I'm not much of a ruffles 'n flowers 'n layers upon layers girl. But everywhere I look EVERY vendor is doing layers and ruffles (and purple). And I am committed to my ongoing effort to keep myself stylishly freshened up. So I have added a small handful of moderately ruffly things from 2008 and 2009 J. Crew to my closet, and I have cautiously layered clothes and jewelry just a bit.
I can't blame Jenna and her minions for staying "on trend", but what I wanna know is this: When oh when will I see a little more of your classically tailored stuff, J. Crew -- pieces that will appeal to the "less is more" women like me out here?
I do believe I have hit my own personal ruffly, flowery, layered limit. See ya later, JCA's. Off to browse at talbots.com. ;-)
I love the evie tops!
ReplyDeleteI vote with Kitsmommy - I miss the jackets.
ReplyDeleteHave any of the ladies tried on the mens shirts to wear with jeans and a cute cardigan? Like the Woodsman Tartan or the Vintage Navy gingham? I think it could be cute but I have boobage. If I order a size to accommodate the girls, will the waist be a big box? Why can't they take those very same prints and cut them for women? Sans ruffles?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried/reviewed the wool ribbon ravine dress? The black/gray version has been around since last roll out.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely interested in the Pippa peeptoes and the Marlene platforms. So pretty. There is a skirt on the first page of the Jenna's pics and I can't see the description. Looks like it might be item number 4? The description is cut off. Anyone know anything about it?
ReplyDeleteI like the Ryder satchel on page 1 of Jenna's picks. Love the gorgeous color. Looks like an animal print pencil skirt on the same page too, but I can't see the copy to read what it is.
ReplyDeleteOther than that there is nothing of interest that I don't have in another permutation in my closet already. I agree with others, the tiers, ruffles and layers are looking so has-been. I hope there are some new, colorful coats for the holiday rollout.
Thank you for sharing the preview!
Thanks for the pic, however nothing makes me want to buy.
ReplyDelete@ Laura, I heard the navy flannel that's currently in-store only will appear in a women's version, although I didn't see it at my store this weekend. I'm relatively small-chested and wear the men's flannels in XS (rolled up sleeves and untucked). I too wish they'd make more pieces like this specifically for women - but then figure they'd just be more expensive!
ReplyDeleteLOL! At least I wasn't the only one questioning those Linen-Silk City pants. ;)
ReplyDeletemath teacher: Thanks for letting us know that new arrivals should be online this week. Yey! :)
Laura, I bought a button up very similar to the men's secret wash button down shirt in vintage navy gingham. It's called the men's rick check shirt in VNA (very navy?). It's super cute! Size down, though.
ReplyDeleteLaura-
ReplyDeletethere is a womens version out in stores now! It's on someone's blog but I cannot recall who. Someone else here will know whose it is:) Cute shirt!
How nice of Kathryn and Alexis to share a preview of the catalog - thank you gals! Too bad it is such a letdown. Boring styles, boring colors, boring models, boring sets (are they really sets or just a panel backdrop?).
ReplyDeleteI like the cashmere silk splendid cardigan. It's a look I could wear with many pieces in my wardrobe, dress up or down. Here's hoping it will come in some nice colors. The linen-silk city pants look like sweats. Paying a hundred bucks for shiny sweats is laughable IMO. As for the rest of the items... I've forgotten already, is there anything new?
Thank you so much for sharing this Kathryn and Alexis!
ReplyDeleteLaura: It looks like there may be a new plaid shirt for women on the second page of Jenna's picks...number 11.
@FFM that is the men's grey flannel.
ReplyDeleteThanks amanda! :)
ReplyDeleteNP! I have it and think it's such a great color.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that preview!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, those satin clown pants are hideous :-O
love everyone's comments about the silk pants... cracking me up. i'm just imagining mc hammer dancing back and forth in them! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI have to say though, I am not really seeing anything I love love love or have to have at FP. Like many others have said, I've been more picky about what I've been buying at JC due to the lack of incentives to pull the trigger (recycled ideas, ridiculous shipping, etc.).
I havent seen anything in like 3 catalogs that I want to buy. And I agree, I am definitely all ruffled out. Geesh can they move on from that trend....
ReplyDeleteOk - For the first time ever, I am agreeing with all of you. Have stuck up for J. Crew in the past but can not do it any longer. We have now been seeing the same thing for about the last 18 months. Usually J. Crew was ahead of trends. If we saw ruffles at J. Crew one year, they were at all the other stores the next. Now, the economy is making it difficult for retailers to move on or past trends, so we are still stuck with these pieces. I really miss the beautiful exciting J. Crew. I am bored. There is nothing here we have not seem before. Ok - we have not seen the clown pants before, but I consider that a good thing. Jenna - Please go on an inspiration trip. Somewhere you have never been before. Come home with an idea for the next thing I will LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI too am over the ruffles! But I'm not gona lie, I do like the Evie tops and the ballet flats! Okay for the most part, i'm over the ruffles.
ReplyDeleteI don't see a single thing I want or will buy. Boo.
ReplyDeleteWow thanks you guys I didn't think anyone would respond. FFM, I totally missed the plaid shirt on Jenna's picks, amanda and Math Teacher, I will looks for those. I'm not looking to become a plaid magnet but a really bright plaid like the tartan and the navy gingham can look so great with a cute cardigan and jeans. I'm pretty set on getting one or two, just need to find them - a crisp plaid with white or navy, no beige.
ReplyDeleteIs the Edie paisley jacquard dress new? Item 12101
ReplyDeleteCass: I ordered the wool ribbon dress in heather carbon and love it. I've owned the Phoebe and Madeline sheath dresses and I think the fit of this new one is the best yet (at least for me). Its a little trimmer through the upper torso so it has a more flattering shape. The neckline is not too deep. It hits at the knee for me. (I am 5"-4".) I run between a 6 and 8, and took an 8 in this one.
ReplyDeleteFabric is very nice. The laser-cut wool ribbon at the neckline is applied asymmetrically. It gives an otherwise simple dress some edge.
Pixelant: The Edie dress has been around since early to mid-summer. Cute cut but I had to pass on it because the fabric is dominated by strong metallic cooper color that was not flattering to my skin tone.
ReplyDeleteSaw the rick check shirt in-store today; cute enough but the material was very thin.
ReplyDeleteaw, amanda I don't know why they do that, not every shirt needs to be that thin cotton lawn. And why are the men's shirts more normal?
ReplyDeleteIs that actually a fur coat they're showing?? I thought J.Crew had removed fur from all of their lines years ago. What a turnoff.
