Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Boden is offering a diminishing discount promo. 25% entire purchase of regular priced item--ends tonight. The percentage off drops tomorrow.

    1. Hey, cmg, it actually ends tomorrow night. :) It's Friday morning it switches to 15% off.

I wrote more on the sale here, if anyone needs more info.

  2. Since except for a very few items, J Crew is missing out on my clothing dollars. I did venture into Nordstroms and tried on some items from Eileen Fisher. I was not sure about the flowing tops, skirts and pants but found a dress and sweater that fit like a dream. A nice semi fitted dress in a lovely material and amazing blue, perfect for summer. I found items ran a little large and ended up with petite petite in the dress and XXS in the sweater. Both were on sale at good prices and nothing that I won't be able to wear in future years.

  3. Disappointed in my most recent Everlane order. Took nearly a week to ship, then another week to arrive at my house, and both items had manufacturing defects. I worry that they're growing too fast to maintain their good quality & customer service standards.

    1. Colbalt, I agree. I like their concept but between the oversized look and dropped shoulders there is nothing new that I am interested in. I did send something back and I had to call them after 3 weeks to let them know that I had not received a refund even though the item showed as being received back to them.

    2. Hi! I contacted Everlane because my order took a LONGGG time to ship. Well, they told me that they changed warehouses so that's the delay in the shipping. Just in case you were curious.
I bought a silk shirt, and I'm always a size S, well, I ordered a Medium to wear it oversized, and it looks like an XS... Maybe it's because it is made in China, where they usually size a usual S as an L... :S

  4. I've been thinking about ordering the Everlane cotton v-neck tee, but I'm not sure whether I should get an XXS or XS. Does anyone know how the sizing compares against the J.Crew vintage v-neck tees? Thanks!

    1. Everlane's sizing is smaller than J.Crew's. I wear a S in J.Crew tops and usually a medium in Everlane tees.

    2. Engineer L -- Everlane's online sizing chart and garment measurements are pretty accurate. I'm usually an XS in JC painter tees, XXS in perfect & vintage tees. At Everlane I just opt for the smallest size offered (not all pieces go down to XXS) and that's worked fine for me. I think Everlane's offerings are more relaxed through the shoulder than JC's -- good if you're broad-shouldered. Good luck!

    3. Engineer L. I usually go with an XS at Everlane which compares to my XS in vintage tees. I agree their online sizing is pretty accurate but I also look at how it fits the model and if it says 'boxy' or 'relaxed' fit then I may size down. If you order more than 2 items, shipping is free but you do pay a flat $5 to ship anything back.

    4. I go with my true size, which is a medium. I'm a medium in everything Everlane and I buy a 4 in shirts at J.Crew.
