This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!
:)
ReplyDeleteI posted a number of styling ideas for newer and older J.Crew and Factory items on my blog this month. See them all here.
Sorry, link above not working, should be here.
DeleteOT: A review of the J. Crew Seamed Shell in Plumeria Jacquard and Plumeria Swing Sweater HTH!
ReplyDeleteOT: Just saw that the recent story on JCrew losing it's luster is coming up on the Today Show. The photo of Rynetta flashed by as part of the tease.
ReplyDeletealot of publicity lately of this issue. I am sure Mickey is not happy. I bet he thought the issues would die down,,,
DeleteI saw the same story and was thinking if my coworkers are watching they are probably laughing because of all the J.Crew packages I receive, they probably think I am crazy and the only one still shopping.
DeleteIt's funny, I have the opposite reaction as @unknown, I feel like jcrew benefits even from the bad press. And hence I feel like I am just being manipulated by the jcrew PR machine. Perhaps I am just too cynical.
Deletercb.shops - J Crew definitely benefits from any press, bad or good. It's so interesting how Gap has slipped off the radar, but no dissection made in the media about their brand. Is it because they didn't suffer as much of an astronomical loss at one time, as J Crew did? Not as loyal of fans? The Obama family hasn't been in J. Crew that I'm aware of. The appeal that you too can wear what they wear isn't in play as it was during the inauguration period.
DeleteWHAT IS IN THE CREWLADE!?!!?!? lol
I think it is interesting that the press came out around the same time as buyout press buzz has...
DeleteOT....has anyone seen the faux wrap tulip skirt yet ? My store does not have it.
ReplyDeleteOT, but I just have a question about returns: I recently made my first ever online purchase at JCrew, and after I tried the item on I realized it was too big and I'd like to return it. I know I can't return it in-store in Canada, so I have to ship it back to them. Has anyone had any experiences returning online purchases made from Toronto, Canada? Roughly how long does it take for JCrew to process the return and send a refund? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI have occasionally returned items ordered online in Canada, and it takes about 2 weeks for the return to get processed. I have never had a problem making a return, but fortunately for me, I haven't had to return too many items to J Crew. The biggest issue is the high cost of postage to mail the products back to the U.S.
DeleteI really wish we could make these returns in our Canadian stores.
Diane in Ontario, Canada
Thanks so much for your reply! Do you have a preference for what service you use? UPS, Canada Post, etc? Yeah, it's pretty frustrating that we can't just return the items in store like they can in the US. I wonder why that is.
DeleteHi....I have done a million returns. Use Can. Post. I often phone CS and if I complain nicely they sometimes cover the cost of the return postage .
Deleteyou have to email (cell phone pic works) of the receipt with tracking number on it .If it was the inconsitent sizing they might do this. It takes a long time for the credit to show up back on your credit card...If you already paid US $10 for getting it shipped I would try and ask for return shipping to be paid. And remember it all depends on who you get on the tele at CS.
I have done it and it is a huge pain. I try only to order it if I love it and it is available online only, or I have already called stores in Canada to see if they have it anywhere first. If I have had to return anything like shoes or an item of similar box size, then it will cost over $20 from toronto with insurance and tracking (you will want this). While Canada Post says it will take 7 business days, the item will usually get stuck in one of the big US customs postal hubs for a few days, making the item get to JCrew after about 10+ business days. Recently I have found Jcrew slow in processing returns. Tracking will say it arrived there, but you won't get notification from JCrew of the return arriving or a pending refund for another 7+ days...then a few more for the refund to actually show up on your card. Moral of the story - don't buy online from Canada unless you are sure pretty darn sure you will keep it and they cannot find it anywhere in stores in Canada. Huge waste of money and time. If you do it...you must get tracking. They once refunded me on a seemingly lost package because I had a tracking number.
DeleteI'm wondering - are the pixie pants too warm for the summer?
ReplyDeleteYes. Anything above 65F will feel uncomfortable while wearing those pants unless you will basically go from air conditioned house/car/office. The Campbell or Minnie is a lighter weight.
Deleteah thats what I thought...i wish crew offered a thinner version of it to wear under tees in the summer.
DeleteI'll definitely check out the campbells next time I'm in a store. Thanks!
