"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. No venting... just stoked about a Clearance Store trip today! Last time I went I walked away with nothing (there's a first time for everything) but I hope to find something special today to wear to my son's Mother's Day Tea that the first graders host each year, coming up on Friday morning. I LOVE Clearance Store trips. You literally never know what you might find there.

    2. Thanks, DD! It's the ONLY thing that makes trips up to UVA enjoyable for me. (Today I get to drive 2+ hours one way to discuss the results of my 10 year-old's neuropsychologist testing. YIPPEE. Not.)

    6. Thanks DD & Ina! Scored big today - the sequin stacked sweater ivory/grey, the merino long v-neck cardigan in lemon, the featherweight cashmere long-sleeved tee in a beautiful aqua, the new Campbell Capri in vanilla, the Factory Sylvia wedge in black patent (I wear my nude ones constantly), & a pair of Madewell sandals for my mom = $158. They had buy six, get extra 40% off. :)

    7. wow! great scores! I used to live in Charlottesville -- is there a clearance store there?? I remember a few stores there that had JC items (bar-ee station) and I loved going there... got a pair of wool suiting pants that I still wear, over 10 years later.

    8. Julie - the main clearance store (at the distribution center) is in Lynchburg. I am in Roanoke so it's on the way to and from UVA for me. It's halfway - so an hour west of C-ville.

    9. Taylor, are the campbells you got the bi-stretch ones? If so, can you see the pockets thru the pants? And what does the material feel like? Thanks :)

    1. I bought the textured beach sweater in two colors, navy and orange. Love it as well. BTW, my local store had 40% off sale but 50% off jewelry today, scarves and other sale accessories. Might be worth checking out. They also had some other promotions that I can't remember all of them. I asked if they were going to have anything for Mother's Day, they said they thought sparkling water...They're going all out!

    3. I have and love this sweater too! It looks great on you, Ina! Can I ask you a question? What is the name of the Tory Burch bag you carry in a lot of your instagram photos? I really like it. Thanks!

    4. @cate It is the stacked T bookbag from TB. I love it and wear it all the time as you know.

    5. Vancouver (West Van) had 50% off sale. Tried the new linen cargo skirt....I would size up if I love it ( I do not) the garden pant...no love there either. I left empty handed > the new hayden bag was not in store to see.

  6. Has anyone received their rewards yet? I don't understand how anything in this day and age can take 4-6 weeks. Its like they are being handwritten by a scribe and sent via pony express. What the heck is happening that it takes 4-6 weeks?

    1. I'm pretty sure the plastic used for the reward cards is sourced at a fine Italian plastic mill, using patterns inspired by classic Roman mosaics.

JCrew's designers were inspired by a recent trip to Palermo, and this season's rewards cards are a carefully curated collection of colors and textures.

Well worth the wait, of course!

    2. LOL!! Maybe they will come encased in chain mail a la Jenna!

    3. I am surprised you JCAs are finding enough items to purchase to qualify for a reward. My reward for the past couple of reward cycles is more money in my pocket from not purchasing :) But for those that qualify I hope the card is a design extravaganza!!!!!

    4. @JRSConfier, I felt like my shopping was down this year, but I know I have a reward coming, so I went back to November to look at everything I've purchased and its actually quite a bit (but also a lot of third-party branded stuff -- demoted with **). I bought and kept:

      Bailey Felt Hat**
      Nylon Bomber Jacket
      Kelsey Dress
      Nike Montreal Racers**
      Nike Vintage Blazers**
Madewell Ames Boots that randomly appeared at JCFactory
Silk Maxi Dress -- extreme popback that I LOVE
4 Tippi sweaters when they were down to less than $40
      Classic silk blouse
2 pairs of Elsie pumps (on deep discount -- so comfortable for high heels)
[Christmas gifts for the Man In My Life]
      Collection Cashmere Turtleneck sweater
      Sophia Webster shoes** (deep discount)
      Elephant Parade tee
      Lulu Frost Vineyard necklace**
Cashmere Infinity Scarf (for less than $100!)
ALL OF the Outdoor Voices stuff** -- leggings, hoodie, running pants, two tanks. I love, love, love it.
Double Serge Dolman dress in Navy (which ripped under my arm after two wearings and I'm going to bring it back to the store for them to fix)
The elusive Cargo Pencil skirt that sold out in a minute and was never re-stocked
      Point Sur Cropped jeans
      Saltwater Sandals** for the beebee.

Phew! That's kind of a lot of stuff.

There's not that much stuff on my wishlist at the moment, but if the light colored denim jacket goes on promo, I may my rewards to get that.

  7. Still waiting for shipment notification for Factory order placed early Monday morning. It seems that it is taking longer than ever to receive orders from both JC and JC Factory.
