This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
A few April sneak previews on my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI know these have been around a while but - I received the Factory Frankie chino in "mint cream" last week. The color is the perfect mint shade; I was glad to see it wasn't washed out at all. I can't say enough good things about the Frankie. I was a big fan of the retail Andie but it looks like they've phased those out so I hope the Frankie sticks around for a while. The leg is slim enough where they look cute cuffed but they also look good enough rolled down to wear to the office. The material is super-soft and it washes very well. This is the perfect chino. Thumbs up for the Frankie!
ReplyDeleteTaylor, how's the sizing in the Frankie chinos? I recall some people sized up in the Andie...I can't ever seem to get the chino thing down but I love the look on others! TIA :)
DeleteI have the factory Frankie chinos too and love them! I went up a size, took my bigger size but they do stretch
DeleteHey Anne - I find them to be TTS but I would be fine sizing up too, especially after a wash & dry. It all depends (IMO) on how you want them to fit. I had to size up in the Andie.
DeleteChevron Pleated Dress (#C1539). So cute, but so not going to work for me. The v-neck is much too low.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The v neck is super low. I liked the fit otherwise but had no idea where I would wear it. It is a pass for me too. Tried that dress this weekend along with the perforated a line dress. On the A line the material felt scratchy and poofed out too much at the waist. It was also too short and looked like a was wearing a little girls dress. Tried on the Ryder pants and they clung to every lump and bump like nobody's business. Overall not a successful trip for me. Made a return and left empty handed.
DeleteSkinny Stretch Cargo Pants (#B8708). Lots of reviews already on these, but wanted to add that washing and drying them on low didn't change them. They felt snug when I put them on after washing/drying, but they loosened up the same way they did after I wore them the first time. They're just a little bit loose, though, no drastic sagging or bagging out of shape.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Cate, for helping with the Cargo pants review! :)
DeleteRolled Sleeve Pocket Tee (#C1926). This is a lot like the Side Slit Tunic from last year. It still has the side vents, but it's a shorter length and the vents aren't as long. It's not cropped, though. It's a nice length, slightly boxy but not too much, shoulder seams in the right place, nice lightweight material but not flimsy.
ReplyDeleteLinen Tee in Faded Adire (#C2070). I thought I'd love this one, but it's too short for me. It's not cropped, but I prefer my tees to be a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the Perforated A-Line Dress, in Peacock. Very comfortable and the perforated detail at the shoulders and hem is a nice touch. It's a bit short in the regular length, on me at least, and the version I tried on in store was impressively wrinkled, which makes me wonder how it will hold up in everyday life.
ReplyDeleteI have a few more reviews at my blog: http://www.shoppingandsewing.com/shopping-j-crew-spring-part-2/
A review of the Dutch Floral Pant here
ReplyDeleteFinally trying the COLLECTION CROPPED WIDE-LEG TROUSER IN BI-STRETCH WOOL item B2412 in Caravan Blue. Took my usual size 4 and they fit great. I shared pics and comments on my instagram today @shoppingcelle if you want to take a look.
ReplyDeleteSome more reviews - Chunky Trim Cardigan, Cuffed Chambray Pant, Floral Sailor Tee, Soaring Birds Tee, and Ankle-Zip Cargo Pant here
ReplyDeleteNew arrivals over at Madewell!
ReplyDeleteI reviewed/tried on some Factory items and retail jewelry on my blog - the factory jacquard pants (run small but they're cute)here here, the factory short sleeve basketweave dress and crepe short sleeve dress in bright emerald (great silhouette for curvy girls and knee length! yay!) hereand the Crystal Foliage Necklace, Full Spectrum Necklace and the Crystal Floral Pendant Necklace (all beautiful spring pieces, especially the pendant) here
ReplyDeleteI love those jacquard pants - glad they're black not navy. I have TONS of that bright pink & bright blue in my wardrobe, they'll be in my cart until the next promo! Thanks for the review. :)
DeleteSlouchy Boardwalk Pant (#C1023). Not slouchy. I loved the material but the cut wasn't what I expected. It was a very slim cut through the legs in my regular size, but same thing in a size up (then it was too big up top). I want to say these are TTS, but I wasn't comfortable with the legs in my regular size. A size up was definitely the wrong size on top. Try them on if you can, if you are thinking of getting them.
ReplyDeleteSlim Cargo Pant (#?). I think this was the pair I tried, with back flap pockets that buttoned down. This was okay but also a slim fit. My Toothpick size was the right size. Not stretchy. A lot like the Skinny Stretch Cargo pants but less comfortable and slightly less fitted.
Vintage Crop jeans (#C1003). Love these - a good length for me even though I'm on the shorter side. My Toothpick size fit perfectly.
Silky Knit Tee (#C2420). Maybe I should have tried a size down. It felt big and shapeless in my normal size.
Hayes Sandal (#B7822) Love! Took a half size down, which is typical for me for J. Crew sandals. So comfortable.
Cinched Tank (#C1930). Not good on me. It made me look pregnant, the way the gathering poofed out in front. The back was a clingy knit. I know it will work on someone, just not good on me.
Cuffed Chambray Pant (#B9519). TTS. There is almost a sheen to the fabric. I wish these weren't elasticized at the bottom ("cuffed" is the wrong word because they are sewn shut).
Aquatic Floral Silk Dress (#C4298). The catalog says "pewter multi" but to me the ground was a light mint. It's very pretty. The dark color looks black to me. The dress wasn't a great fit on me - to get the bottom to fit the way I like it, the top was a bit too big. It could probably be tailored pretty easily if need be. Length was good on me. It was lined. And I think it had some darts in the bodice!
I also tried on a dress with cap sleeves, with ivory and peach colored stripes. It looks better than it sounds, it's very nice, but I though it ran small. I think this one had some darts or seaming too, making it fitted. If you have the right size, it should be great. I probably should have tried a size up, but didn't really need it.
Seamed Peplum Sweatshirt (C1925) - This was a fail. Ordered an S. The fit of the body was fine (reference-36B), but the upper arms were cut to look very roomy, and it didn't look cool at all. I guess I could've ordered an XS, but I think it wouldn't have made a difference. Maybe when it goes on sale, I'll order an XS. But its a pass for now.
ReplyDeleteBroken-in-Boyfriend Chino (C0488) - Ordered size 0. Huge all over. Since I have a short torso, it pulled up an inch past my belly button..haha! It looks baggy on me, but that's how its suppose to look, but for someone who is 4'11, too much fabric for me. Wish it was offered in petite. It's a pass.
The J.Crew April Style Guide is fully uploaded to Pinterest. I got mine in the mail today.
ReplyDeleteThe cashmere infinity scarves are on sale now, with an additional 50% off. This is a STEAL for this very thick substantial scarf. Grey, black, and camel are $50 after promotions, and blush and snow are $100. I bought a couple for next year's holiday gifts.
ReplyDeletethanks for the heads up! the heather acorn has been on my radar for months, totally a steal for $50
DeleteYes! Thank you! Christmas presents purchased!
DeleteSkinny Stretch Cargo pants - Runs big in the waist (I also am built with a relatively small waist compared to my hips). I took my Toothpick size and was able to get them on and off without unbuttoning/unzipping. With that said, I like wearing jeans that are a little bit big just so that I can get in and out of them easily. The material is so plush and soft and I really liked the mint green and olive colors. They did give me some mom butt in the back but if they go on sale, I'm really considering these because they're just so comfortable and pretty flattering from the front.
ReplyDeleteSequin Floral Sweater - I tried this in Heather Oatmeal since my store was out of the Gray & Pink and limited sizes left in the Mint. I loved the feel and weight of the actual sweater and the pop of color from the flowers. Unfortunately, the fit in the arms is very unflattering and overall it's not a piece that works for my body type (I have relatively wide hips and the boxy fit hides my waist). I think the way Rynetta / Jcrewismyfavstore styles it is extremely flattering and that her body type is ideal for this sweater. It's really a shame because I loved everything else about this sweater and it was one of the things I was most excited about from the March rollout.
