    2. Hmm. I'm a cardholder but did not get that email, though I did place an order this morning. 10% is another $25 off so they will be hearing from me! Thanks for mentioning.

  2. Some newer items went on sale this week. I would love to try some of them out but not with the dreaded final sale. I am not close to a store and with this horrible winter I just haven't gotten to a store to try on newer items. Oh well more money in my wallet.

  3. The price for some items bounced back... Tilly cardigan from $59.5 to $69.5. Of course the popular items such as Downtown field jacket and Excursive Vest are back to full price... another weak prom, IMO.

  4. Sort of OT, but whoa! Shady price adjustments! I periodically check to see if the men's 484 jeans have gone on sale (my husband likes them, but refuses to believe that jeans should cost that much), and I noticed that the "regular" price on the garment-dyed jeans had gone up from $108 to $125, but then they've been "reduced" to $108. There's a pair hanging in our closet (bought on promo and gift card, which eases my husband's pain) that still have the tag on them, and they were NEVER $125.
I know that many of you here keep track of prices much better than I, and I probably wouldn't have noticed if I don't check this one item so often, but I have to believe that this must be happening on the women's side, as well. Does JCrew think that if we see a price in red that we automatically think we're getting a good deal? I'm so tired of the back and forth on sale promos/shipping charges/final sale, but I didn't ever imagine that they'd stoop to a blatant "false value" strategy. Tacky. ::sigh::

    1. Not surprisingly, my product review was rejected by JCrew, as it didn't adhere to their requirements that it not mention the price I paid. I then received another, more personal reply, saying that it would be "passed along" to the promotional team. I'm going to reply, saying that I hope that J Crew doesn't adopt the same, horrible sales tactics as stores like Best Buy. Try to stay classy, J Crew!

    2. Meanwhile, the 484s are still $125, with a special markdown to $108. I should stop checking, because it just continues to irk me. Does anyone see this on the women's side, as well?

  5. OK extra 10% off makes this doable!

    2. Thanks, kms423! Does it fit true to size? I'm going with my usual dress and shirt size, I think.

    3. Yes it does! I took my normal jcrew size.

    4. Ordered my usual dress/shirt size. VPS sent actual garment measurements. I should have plenty of room if they're accurate. Fingers crossed! Still pricey to be wrong (gulp). If anyone wants garment measurements (00-4 sizes), I have them.

  8. I was able to order online a day before this % off sale promo kicked in, and asked CS to honor the promo, and they did! Got an Excursion vest in black that popped in XS for $53.50, and the Tilly sweater in heather shoreline for $33! I hope the excursion vest ships...you never know with these '1 stock left' situation.

    1. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been stalking the black excursion vest! When I saw your post I immediately headed to the site and snagged one for myself. Now let's hope that it actually ships. Only 56 dollars!!! Steal!!! Fingers crossed!!!

    2. Cool, Birdie! So glad you scored, too! I was hoping for a navy Excursion..but black will work, too.

  9. It looks like the Cece flats are still marked down and with the promo they are about half price. Personally, I don't think they are even worth that much. Their "new" version gets a major thumbs down from me and a lot of the reviewers definitely agree!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I stocked up on toothpicks yesterday when they were 50% off (blacksmith and deconstructed miller). Got a price adjustment on the ceces and then bought another pair today--I forgot that they are the "new" non-italian made version so I'll have to see when they get here. Definitely agree that the price changing is shady and you have to be careful!

    2. I looked through the new catalog.
The first pages are about the classics (navy suit, jean jacket, striped shirt, blazer, red lip, cashmere tee, chino, trench, vneck tee and a tote..
Then the regent blazer comes in lots of colors, new strappy sandals and the Malta from last year. a lot of laser cut( dress skirt),one new plaid popover in carribean blue. A new Dulci in striped fabric with a bow.
There is one printed pant: Falling pansies print, new lace up espadrilles.
I like the vneck cardi amd the huarache mules in blush.
One of the tees is already in store, the silky knit tee. i bought it in navy, because i really liked it. pics on @inawonderland5
Forgot the new print on a sweatshirt amd dress and its called Aquatic floral. Also new Abott sandals with a white sporty bottom.

  12. I placed an order yesterday for the midweight stripe tee in navy/white, inky floral blouse and double faced pique eyelet dress in navy/black...I emailed today to ask for a price adjustment on the inky floral blouse and they did it, but not without the lecture from CS that they don't usually "stack promotions" (I had used the 25% promo on the tee ONLY. I wanted the blouse after previously returning it FP and wasn't sure if it would sell out since it was a popback). I didn't even care about the extra 10% on the tee...but anyway, they credited me 30% / 25% plus the extra 10% off for both sale items. I don't think I will get anything else from this sale, I placed an order at LOFT this morning with their 40% off.

  13. I'm happy to say that I received a prompt reply from customer service about a price adjustment today saving me almost $80 or two orders. Outstanding Jcrew!

  14. I did post this over on the Will You Be Stopping By J Crew This Weekend post, but wanted to share. Definitely check online prices before you go to the store. As usual J Crew makes my non-math brain hurt. I stopped by to try on the Layering Vest for size which is $69.99 with 50% off online. My store was offering 40% off sale prices but since they did not have my size they ordered online and I got it for $31.50. But if I had gotten it in store it would have only been 40% off. I did get the additional 10% for using my card.

    1. JRSConifer - It's a word math problem on top of it. Sample. A JCA was shopping in a B&M and saw the excursion vest for $69.99 + 40% off. The vest is also on sale, but an addtl 50% off online. An additonal discount of 10% applies in either case if she uses her J. Crew card. She's a teacher. There is no global promo in effect. She left her school ID at home, but definitely has school email. Does she get to use her teacher/educator discount on this purchase? Is the vest cheaper in-store or online?

How many of you simply left the store? lol

    3. Gigi, you are so right. I was on my lunch hour and I mean hour. Between is it on sale, then doing online vs. store price, percent off online vs. store. I did not have time to try any else on. But I did get a catalog from my favorite SA who had to go to the back and sneak it to me, I will read it tonight once my math headache wears off.

    6. Gigi, your math problem is my life! I am often in store buying something having left my teacher ID at home and doing the subtraction in my head to determine if the extra 15% is worth the embarrassment of pulling my university email up on my phone

    7. Greetings All - Online is the better deal at $69.99 X .5 X .9 = $31.50 compared to In Store at $69.99 X .6 X .9 X .85 = $32.12. By 62 cents. If I have calculated this right. Both are FS, so this is not a factor. The extra 62 cents might be worth it for the instant gratification of having the vest in-hand instead of a potential cancellation or shipping delay. I was working in Excel a lot today calculating budgets, so I was primed for this question, but I clearly need to spend my free time doing other things . . . Jennifer

      Delete
    8. JenniferD, I agree. I am all about the instant gratification but it was not available in my size. But on the bright side, my SA (love her) made it Next Day Air Shipping and I got the shipping notice 2 hours later and I will have by Monday

  15. Anyone have thoughts on the Ava ballet flats or the bar collar gold necklace? Both final sale (weeps) and haven't heard too many reviews but I never buy anything without checking with you all (aka J.Crew quality control) first. Thank you!

    1. Greetings Caille - I wrote a review of the Bar Collar Necklace, which is up on the website, so I won't repeat here. But what is up with the pricing on this item? It was first released at $85, then went down to $75, but it looked like that was its regular price, not a promotion. I got it for $75 less a 40% discount a while ago (so, yay!). But now it's $79.99 and FS. JC, you have me so confused . . .

    2. Hi Jennifer,
Good review, and after looking more carefully at the pricing I see that the "final sale" price of $79.99 is more expensive than the "original" crossed-out price of $75! Which suggests that
      1) the shady pricing that Gina noted above exists in the women's department too (I wonder if they're adopting a strategy from Factory that I HATE)
      2) I can wait for this piece to get cheaper. Thanks!

    1. Greetings Cate - I love J.Crew for their price adjustment capabilities on any of their merchandise, full price, promotion, or final sale, and being totally cool about it. I've recouped a lot of dollars (which somehow make it back to them . . .). Then again, I also called for a price adjustment of $1 last holiday season. Probably the many years of poor graduate school living. I've also never seen Frozen, so I can't "let it go . . .! Cheers - Jennifer

  18. Great bargains to be had! I got the asymetrical zip skirt in gray for $40 after 50% off (probably one of my favorite clothing purchases at the Crew over the past season or so- I have it in 5 solid colors and the houndstooth) and the Laine suede boots in the pale umber for $60.

  19. My store was 40% off sale and not a lot going on otherwise. Nothing exciting in sale though many recent arrivals were already on a first markdown today. I'm bored w everything - nothing that is flattering and well-made in the store right now is that different from what I already own.

The exception: some very cute dresses. The Chevron-Pleated A Line is adorable! I bought the Laser Cut and love it.

Sorry I have no way to scan it today but I did pry an April Style Guide away from an SA.

  20. Focus on "the classics" and a lot does look familiar. Who remembers the Whisper Lame shirts from the first time around, maybe 2009? There is a new one - why on earth would they bring that back?

I like but don't love much. I'm interested in what others JCAs think. I only have a few things I'm interested in but that's okay. I think this is the "new normal."

    4. I like the Harper Mule ($128), the Huarache Sandals ($148), the Chevron Pleated A-Line Dress ($148),and the Dark Navy Mesh Wrap Dress ($128). There is a lot of denim, high-waisted and cargo-type pants, linen tees, chunky necklaces, and Regent Blazers ... don't need any of that stuff personally. Some pretty colors but no lovely spring prints.

There is a lot I like in the catalog, pending try-on. I don't remember the whisper lame top, unless by that you mean those very lightweight long sleeved camp shirts? I love those. But none are shiny.

    2. hi...I have recently purchased the dulcis in Mink ( Thanks to Ina's review) I live up north in Canada and have to live vicariously through blogs like this. J Crew is very expensive to return from Canada...no prepaid post for us.
I love the goldsign jeans (wish they would do them again) I love the perfect fit tee in long sleeve and short...have a ton of them.
I am also a J Crew fan...have three. It is nice to hear reviews about all the items I will never see in IRL...
Sorry if I have asked to many questions of everyone this weekend ( cabin fever) I will now wait for wed. roll out and keep my mouth (lap top) shut..

    4. Unknown - No need to close your laptop. lol I was wondering if you've ordered and what you like from the past few months.

The chevron beaded tops in white and green were winners for me as were the poly tassel trim tops. Although one of them ripped at the wrist on the first wash. Such a pain. Oh and shoes. I love the dulcis in stripe glitter & the leopard. So glad I was able to score those.

You should join Instagram if you haven't. There are a lot of beautiful outfits. Some ppl are in snow and others are in warm weather so you get a taste of both. Also, you can keyword search #jcrew and find others who are wearing J Crew items.

    5. Speaking of #jcrew...I used to check people wearing J.Crew outfits quite often, but lately all these sellers selling non-J.Crew merchandise tag #jcrew, to the point where its become annoying. If I wanted to see their merchandise, I'd seek it myself. Same goes with #madewell. I wish there was a way on Instagram to filter those sellers out.

    #JCREWFIRSTLOOK P.S. We'll have snacks.'

    1. I got the in-store new arrival email as well. My VPS called me last week - my store is doing the event from 4-8, and she regularly does 20% off the new arrivals (also stackable on any existing promo) during the event. I would guess this varies by store...but it's enough sometimes to get me to stop in, especially if there's another good promotion going on.
