Madewell sent an email this morning showcasing some of their new arrivals. One of the features was on the "whole 'winter white' thing". There is no doubt that the model is rocking that look. The whole style, from hat to jeans, is pretty flawless.
With that said, it got me wondering, do people really rock this trend? I mean really? I wear white sweaters and even a white coat during the Winter (all worn with great care of course!) However I don't dare go head to toe. Partially because it would get crazy dirty. Just the other day, walking on the sidewalk, I noticed that my black J.Crew boots covered in snow slush. It was not a hot look. And my Madewell Legging Jeans had some residual snow slush too. I couldn't imagine what would happen if I was wearing white jeans.
Do you rock Winter Whites "head to toe" If so, what are your tips for success? Please share! :)
Quick Poll: Do you rock Winter Whites from head to toe?
right now i wouldn't wear all white. my neighborhood is just too slushy. but when it's just cold out, i'm fine with the all white look. i actually REALLY like white pants and skirts. of course, those are the days i spill coffee all over myself too :/
ReplyDeleteI Love the look but it is not practical for places where winter is winter…snow, cold, dirty cars.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both Miss JR and LizT, a very hard look to pull off in snowy areas. Plus I can barely wear light colors in the spring/summer without getting dirty so not a look I could pull off but in pictures pure perfection!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Agree, agree, agree with all you lovely ladies. The picture above shows such a polish look. Absolutely gorgeous. But difficult to pull off without fear of dirt when winter snow is about. ;)

ReplyDeleteI bought the high low sweater 5 months ago, but have only worn it a few times. It is very pilled and looks like a 10 year old sweater. If I have the receipt, do you think I will be able to return it? Thanks!

DeleteI have sent back sweaters with the reciept and a note about the poor quality asking for a refund and have gotten it in the form of a gift card. I would try it. If you go to a store they may not take it. Good luck!
DeleteChapelHill22, I agree with Mini. I would either send it back like she did or contact customer service via phone or email. I have had more luck doing that than with an associate in the store. Good luck!
DeleteI love "winter white" (off white/cream) - have matchstick cords in that color, but only wear them with a navy or dark gray sweater.. All white outfit would look kind of boring on me and I'd be worried I looked like a marshmallow :)
ReplyDeletei love love love that look! but it strikes me as a very "california" aesthetic. i've seen people in LA and SF pull it off a lot and if i had nicer legs i'd try it too (i try to wear only black or dark pants if possible...i only own one pair of white jeans!).
ReplyDeleteI see this being realistic when you live in a non snowy climate. I'd love a pair of winter white jeans but I can't even keep my cream colored Hunter boot liners slush free. I do have a fair share of winter white sweaters and I have a coat as well that comes out when we're slushless.
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing my winter white toothpick cords today. I almost didn't get them for fear I couldn't pull them off, but I LOVE THEM. The entire outfit might be hard to pull off though!
ReplyDeleteHave you heard?! Nordstrom and Net-a-Porter are going to start carrying Madewell! Here's an article about it: http://fashionista.com/2015/02/madewell-nordstrom-net-a-porter

Very smart move I think. I really enjoyed reading this article - thanks for sharing!
DeleteI've worn a variation of this a lot this winter and I love it with a bold pink or red lip. Very soothing...
ReplyDeleteI tend to wear white bottoms more than white because white against my face in the winter washes me out. But I agree that the slush is big no factor even if I have been brave and worn it in the snow (I bought a backup pair of my favorite white cords on super-duper sale so I won't be heart - broken if they get irreversibly stained as it happened to my champagne toothpicks)
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that nobody mentioned the other monochrome look in the same email, blue on blue with the model wearing overalls over...nothing. Very European ;-)
DeleteI love a winter white monochromatic look with cozy textures like corduroy cashmere and fisherman knits.
