J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

    1. Desert Flower: I tried it. The material is horrible, very coarse. I returned the skirt immediately.

    3. Thanks, Rynetta. I had a feeling the fabric would not be great. Sigh. I was so hopeful!

Unknown, its the one from the last rollout, item b9213.

    4. You're welcome! It's too bad because the blue color is divine.

  2. I'm adding the Madewell Transport tote to my birthday wish list. For those who own it and had it monogrammed -- did you go with the embossed or gold foil? I'm torn!

    1. Go with the gold! I got the embossed my my mini transport, and you can barely see it.

    2. I second the gold foil. You can really see the letters and it is a classic style. The embossed is barely noticeable. Almost not worth it. I am not sure if a store is near you, but Madewell stores have a little piece of leather with all the types of monogramming so you can see it before ordering.

    3. Get the gold foil in the big letter. It is not that big but the small version is tiny.

    4. Gold foil it is! But I don't see an option to choose the size of the letters. Is it just one size?

  3. Has anyone tried the new Martie pant? I'm very curious how it compares to the Minnies and the Campbell Capris.

    2. I was just logging on to post about the Martie - I love them! Here's my jcrew.com review:
These pants make me wonder why I ever settled for the Minnie. I'm a size 12 in the Minnies / 5'8" and the Minnies were always a tad short for me. I lived with it, and often found the talls in the Minnies too long. The Marties are spot on from a length standpoint. I like the straighter leg with the vent and the high waist is perfect - not too high and perfect for preventing the dreaded 'muffin top'. These are the perfect casual office/weekend pant. I purchased the merino cotton tunic in mint to wear with the navy Marties and I am looking forward to hopefully more spring colors in these pants.

Next up, I want to try the Harlow and Ryder pants.

    3. Thanks, Anne. I've been wondering about the Martie pant. Did you get the regular length? Where on your leg did it hit? I'm 5'3" and got the Minnies in regular length and am wondering if I need the Martie in regular or petite.
I've been eying the Harlow and Ryder pants, too.

    4. @maryeb I'll have to measure my Minnies vs. the Marties but I believe the description states that they're a half inch longer, but I'd argue based on looking at photos of the Minnies on me that they're almost an inch longer. I can measure when I get home tonight. They hit me right above the ankle whereas the Minnie are a good inch above my ankle. The Martie leg is less tapered than the Minnie so the leg cut is more flattering (at least for me) - I'd compare them to the Banana Republic Sloan pants in that respect if you've ever tried those. Hope ths helps! My laptop has been down so I've been behind on blogging, if I can get it up and running soon I'll post a comparison pic there or on Instagram. HTH!

    5. Thanks, Anne! The straighter leg with the vent sounds very appealing to me. I'm hoping to get to a B&M this weekend to try them on too.

  5. Are there new arrivals on the Factory website? Of course they're really not that new even though they're new arrivals. I see the Matte Crepe Tee, Metallic Trim Scoopneck, the Dot-Dash Blouse, the Embroidered Front Top, the Crinkled Cotton Popover and the Pleated Skirt in Stripe. At least the Metallic Trim Scoopneck might be made of sturdier material. The retail one was so flimsy.

    1. Yes, I noticed some new arrivals at Factory, too. You are probably right re: metallic trim scoopneck tee. The retail one was linen and while I like the tee, it is SO sheer. Thinking about ordering one to test out.

  6. I'm really loving the Point Sur hightower skinny jean in drifter wash -- runs TTS, soft, fit like a glove, and beautiful color. I ordered them on a whim, because I needed an extra item to get free shipping. They are AMAZING! I returned them only because I'm waiting for a sale/promotion. I totally recommend them, though.

I also recently ordered the Illesteva Leonard II tortoiseshell sunglasses. Has anyone tried these?

Mirror metallic d'Orsay flats - Ordered size 5.5, and it fits TTS. I have wide-ish feet, and after trying it on, I already predict that these will be cutting the sides of my feet. Ouch. So its a return.

Crewcuts Adidas Stan Smith - Ordered size K5, and my 5.5 feet did not fit in these. It felt like an adult size 6.5 on me. I guess I wear kids' K4?? These will be returned.

Tilly sweater in Heather Shoreline - I really love this color. I ordered this before but i think it was a PXS, so I took advantage of the sweater promo, and ordered a PS this time. While I prefer the long sleeves of the Tilly over the Tippi, the length of the body is something I can't get over how short it is. If it was an inch longer, I think I would've loved it. So its a return.

    2. Hi Elle - I wish I had ordered K4 with the K5..now it's sold out online. I should try K3...

  8. Thanks as always for the reviews everyone. I have more questions about the Marrie pant though. Do you think they work with "athletic" thighs? I could never wear the Minnie, but can wear the Campbell. Thanks!

  9. Sleeveless flounced dress in pinstripe B9831 has been marked down to $99.99 and is now final sale. Wasn't this released two weeks ago?

  10. I purchased 2 Tilly cardigans on the sweater promo last week. The merino is very soft and lightweight - perfect for air conditioning in the summer, not really a winter weight sweater. Fit is cropped, fitted. I compared to one of my old Jenna cardigans and the Jenna is much more fitted through the waist than the Tilly, more of a shrug fit (I actually cannot button up my Jenna), whereas the Tilly is body skimming but can be fully buttoned. I am 5'-1", 103 lb and took the xs. I have had bad luck with hand washing J.Crew sweaters (had a Tippy that became mis-shapen when cold washed with Laundress and air dried, had to be thrown out) so I worry the same will happen with Tilly. Fingers crossed.
