"Thanks!" to many of you, including Crew_Girl_In_Canada & Anon at 12:03 AM (in this post), Anon at 12:14 AM & GoldCoastGal (in this post), as well as Kim & Marietta, who let us know about J.Crew's latest (& greatest) offer! :)
J.Crew is offering 30% off final sale items with promo code EXTRA30. This offer expires 4/2/09. This is a wonderful sale- I am excited to see it's return!
Are you planning to take advantage of this offer? If so, which items do you plan to get? ;)
I wonder if they'll do a percentage off sale items in store as well? That would be fantastic in combintation with the red card!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alexis and the others who posted this offer. I don't have anything from FS on my wishlist. Well, not yet anyway. Who knows when something may pop up. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow. Red Card last night and all my favorite fall stuff in final sale! Thanks to everyone who returned an item in my size that I've been coveting @30 off final sale, I'm feeling rich ... or at least well-dressed.
ReplyDeleteFor you Canadians who love shoes, Browns shoes is offering Free Shipping with code MARCH09. www.brownsshoes.com
ReplyDeleteThe Claudia crackle-metal sherbet pumps are {finally} mine!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting! May have to do some browsing after all...
ReplyDeleteI was excited to see the red card in my mail, only to realize there is nothing out now that I want, even at 25% off.
ReplyDeleteWhen will the next round of new additions come?
Will it be before the red card expires?
Wow, lots of older stuff in FS today. Wonder where they have all this stored, before they drag it out on FS. You would think some of it would have been long gone.
ReplyDeletestuff is going fast. i see the numbers in several categories starting to dwindle already. the extra30 sure moves the merch!
ReplyDeleteYou cannot go by the numbers showing in the quanity box anymore, I found that out a couple of weeks ago on a full priced item. The day before it showed 99 items were in stock, the next day it is waitlisted. There is no way 99 Jackie cardigans sold in 1 day in that color, and it was not on sale.
ReplyDeleteNo I will not be taking advantage of the sale.
I have several things in my shopping bag, but I'm not sure if anything is a "must have" even with this % off. I must say though, there is some nice jewelry on clearance!
ReplyDeleteOT: I received two red cards in the mail yesterday (one for me, one for my hubby) and obviously I only need one. If any JCAs did not receive the red card and are interested in one, I can stick it in the mail for you!
ReplyDeletefarr0146 at gmail
ps. US mail only please!
YAY! I do 99% of my shopping on-line so even though I was estatic to get my red card in the mail yesterday (I ranted yesterday about not getting one the last time) I was a little disappointed because my local store normally isn't very well stocked.
ReplyDeletered card has been claimed!! thanks all!
ReplyDeleteI (finally) got the Coralie suede heels in bright blue! I tried to get 5 other final sale items but I was too slow to checkout, oh well, I really just wanted the Coralies anyway. They will look fab under a navy blue suit or jeans, maybe even a black dress...
ReplyDeletePretty sure sale section was updated.
casual-crew, I was referring to the list of different items under the "refine results for women" where it says accessories (27), bags (12), etc.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first checked the site this morning, the numbers were a lot higher for the different items. Many have decreased already. I find that a little odd because so many times you click through and it says "we're sorry..." but today it seems as though the items actually drop off the FS list.
7:57
Yippeee I got a red card and I NEVER shop at jcrew.
ReplyDeleteGreat promotion, but 75% of what I click on is already sold out :(
ReplyDeleteEvery single item I clicked on was out.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know if the stores will do price matching for the online 30% off sale? I bought the silk garland top (the printed one on sale) and have been wanting to return it, but if I can get a price adjustment on it with the 30% off, I'll keep it!
ReplyDeletetoast, you can try but it's a gamble whether or not you will be successful as the stores usually say they will not honor the online price, although occasionally they have done so according to people posting here. Never had the opportunity to try it myself.
ReplyDeleteNevermind, I just read the bit that says "Offer does not apply to previous purchases." :( Looks like the tank is going back!
ReplyDeletethanks, anon @ 9:13!
ReplyDeleteI just placed an order and they took 30% off anything on sale, not just the stuff marked final (or ending in .99). I found this surprising. I haven't gotten my email confirmation yet, so I wonder whether this will change?
ReplyDeleteI also found stuff going really fast this morning. I had the chiffon rosette tee in my cart for a total of 5 minutes before it was gone...
Hopefully this promotion is being offered to move all of the Final Sale merchandise before Final Sale ends...does anyone remember when it ended last Spring? Was it in the end of April or the beginning of May?
ReplyDeletei just got them to price adjust the shrunken cashmere hoodie i ordered last week at 20% final sale--granted it's on backorder until mid april, which is probably why they did it.
ReplyDeletehas anyone reviewed the shrunken cashmere hoodie? i am kind of curious what people think of it.
Just scored the metallic silk mini in khaki/gold with 30% off! I have been waiting for it to go on sale since Gigi and Slastena reviewed it. Now let's hope it delivers.
ReplyDeleteAny reviews of the Charmeuse pencil skirt? I'm thinking of buying it in bright orange after seeing it in the catalog, but the elastic waist makes me think twice about this one. Has anyone bought it or even tried it on?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Anonymous at 9:36 AM - Which one did you order? I have been stalking the celery color for awhile and finally bought it now. It's also back-ordered until mid April but I love it. I really hope it arrives!
ReplyDeleteI have the zip cashmere hoodie from winter, and it fits pretty true to size.
haha celery...stalk...wow, I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning!
ReplyDeleteKat-haha, nice!
ReplyDeletei got the black. i needed a basic black sweater, and with an extra 20% (now 30%) off, plus student discount it seemed like a pretty good deal.
It's definitely a good deal! I'm sure you will love it :)
ReplyDeletedoes you think they'll do a site refresh? they've been doing it around 10am est.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 940am,
ReplyDeleteI got the Charmeuse pencil skirt in bronzed twig about a month back (when it was still $98 online, but already marked down to $69 in store), and I love it! It feels great and I can imagine wearing this for fun or for work especially in the summer since it's so light. However, to be fair, I'm like a lot of the JCrew models-- not at all hippy, very stright & slim. It might hug a curvy woman's figure a little too much. Also, the length is exactly as it looks on the website: that is, I'm nearly 6' tall, and the skirt hits me close to my knees. Shorter ladies might be concerned about this.
The elastic waist concerned me too, but I tried this on in the store with the fish shirt (stores only) and it covered the waist. And that looked good. However, I also tried it on recently with my orange Quinn cami, tucked it, and I loved it. So I really don't think the waist should concern you.
What color are you thinking of getting?
Heh heh... I just saw that you clearly wrote "bright orange" in your comment. My bad. :/
ReplyDeleteThis has probably been asked but can you use the red card if you order using the red phone from a store?
ReplyDeleteI know Alexis is very clear that the Weekly Exchange transactions are separate from this blog, but I'm just looking for opinions.
ReplyDeleteAfter someone confirms they have received your payment, how long should you wait for them to reply with the shipping details? Payment confirmed on Thursday and since then, nothing...
Anony 10:02 - I think the update happened already. There were a lot of things early this morning that are no longer listed on the site. Maybe they got ready for the big promo and did a huge update last night.
ReplyDeletepatiently? waiting, did you send the seller an email? Maybe something happened and they weren't able to get out to ship it.
ReplyDeleteAm totally bumped that so many items are sold out already!
ReplyDeleteYes, two emails sent already. No response. $100 item. :(
ReplyDeleteThe 30% off is just what I've been waiting for. Totally broke down and ordered some cashmere way marked down.
ReplyDeleteThere were brown size 7 and 9H lulu heels on the site last night? Did anyone from here get them? Not my size or I would have snapped them up. Of course they are long gone now.
ReplyDeleteThey are updating at weird times--I could have sworn over the weekend they updated the sale section at around 10 pm. I can't figure out when it is happening. I was on at a little after 8 am this morning, and a lot of FS stuff was sold out, as others have been saying. Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow, sigh!
ReplyDeleteI checked the site before i left home at 725..i made it to work at 831 and most items are gone and are reduced by 50%...I was in shock that most things were gone...
ReplyDeleteSite is down!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletei love that i have a place to get excited about 30%!!
ReplyDeletesite down...agghh
ReplyDeleteWas anyone expecting the website to not go down? This is absolutely ridiculous - J. Crew has lost my business.
ReplyDeletewoo hoo! stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteOh no...site is down "stay tuned" again...
ReplyDeleteI can still get on the site...no Stay Tuned sign for me.
ReplyDeleteSome of the sale items I was watching went back up to full price - that might account partly for the dwindling numbers...
ReplyDeleteNo problems on the site for me. Maybe it was a quick outage. ;)
ReplyDelete10:57 - really?! that's kind of shady. someone posted earlier that the discount was applied to everything on sale, not just FS. seems it has always worked that way for me, but i'm disappointed to learn they have put things back up to full price.
ReplyDeleteLast night when the sale first went up I scored the black Fiona jacket for $35! That was very exciting ;) Now let's hope it fits right!
ReplyDeleteI"m going to have plenty to wear this fall but nothing this spring! Argh!
I guess I'm too late to the game. It looks like the usual suspects really. Nothing fabulous I have to have.
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:29 - I managed to get the Lulu peep toes in burnt sienna size 7 last night. My order hasn't shipped yet so I'm expecting an email canceling them, but here's hoping. And here's hoping they fit. I'm usually between 7.5 and 8 and read several reviews advising to SD so we'll see.
ReplyDeletemost of the final sale stuff was gone before i even woke up! some items that were on promo for the past week went back to full price this morning even when at about 1am EST they were still in final sale!
ReplyDeletei ended up just getting spring stuff "on promo" rather than Final sale stuff because at least I can return it! i was able to use the 30% off on those items AND my student discount :)
Anon@9:40 AM - Lexiloo wrote an EXCELLENT review of the Charmeuse pencil skirt. I totally agree w/everything she said, esp the part about it being good for a straight figure. I am not sure this would flatter someone with less straight (?) hips. Her comments are more detailed than mine will be on the post I have going up this afternoon. However, I will be showcasing irls pic of the bronzed twig & the fresh orange. I LOVE the fresh orange.
ReplyDeleteDid they do a big update this morning, and I just missed it?
ReplyDeletei picked up the maisey jacket in charcoal and a pair of shorts for my boyfriend.
ReplyDeletei was glad to see the jacket wasn't final sale but the 30% discount still applied.
The strangest thing happened to me... two days ago I found a hot pink J. Crew ring spun t shirt in my pajama drawer. I don't own this shirt, and neither do my 11 or 13 year olds. I figured it must've belonged to a friend of theirs and it got mixed up with our clothes. But no one remembers putting in my drawer, and I'm the only one who ever puts away the laundry.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the J. Crew fairy paid me a visit to make up for all the clothes that have mysteriously disappeared over the years! I hope she keeps coming.
I am sure this has been asked before but please bear with me. How is sizing for Juliet patent pumps? I am a solid 6 1/2 in all JCrew shoes (pumps and flats). Should I size up because of the patent leather or should I stick with my usual JCrew shoe size? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone give an opinion or mini-review on the ponte ruffle shift dress? I see it pop up on FS now and again and it looks wonderful online. Would like to know if it is worth stalking.
ReplyDeleteTIA
Does anyone own the Cashmere Harper Sweater? There are lots of sizes and colors on sale for $49.99, and I'm tempted to pick up a couple. I have been spending a little too much on clothes the past couple of months, but $35 for a cashmere sweater is hard to pass up! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
ReplyDeletesite's up but it's super slow
ReplyDeleteI got my red card yesterday! Can any boston JCAs offer insight if copley has a good selection, or if its worth driving to another store in the area?
ReplyDeletethanks!
Hello all- Just wanted to write a quick review in case any body was on the fence regarding the Surplus wide-leg trouser in clean fade wash (item #13839). I ordered them last week (of course before the additional 30% off markdown but oh well) and could not be happier with them. I ordered them because after doing a spring clean out in my closet I realized that I had no light-wash denim, only darks and whites. I thought these would be perfect for spring and summer and I was right!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the denim itself is so ridiculously soft. The back pockets are really cutely designed and are clearly well made. The rise sits right on the hip bone and does not run the risk of exposing too much of your lower back when sitting. The fit of the jean itself is really nice and flattering- a nice thigh that skims the body without hugging and then a flattering trouser leg that does not look flared.
I would say that they are true to size. I am always the same size in J. Crew denim and pants and these were no different. What great jeans. Snap them up if you're considering it.
I would tell everyone to not bother with the FS...Nothing good is left...A lot of the new stuff is sold out. Maybe better luck tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAshley 11:07am: How were you able to get the student discount? Did you email them after you placed your order?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I agree with Dina
ReplyDeleteTherez nothing left on Final sale worth buying :-(
Thanks for this % off J.crew! I'm going to browse. . .
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 1120-
ReplyDeleteThe Juliets are very TTS. In fact, I think the sergeneti/ leopard print Juliets actually run a little smaller than the solid colors. HTH.
Just ordered the petite version lattice cami in light pewter and shell. Does anyone have a review of this item or a IRL picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Anon 1145: I just emailed afterwards and got they will apply it after it ships out. HTH! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy shopping!
Anon @ 1120- I totally agree w/Jbird. I have Juliets in black and peacock in 7.5. They fit great. I got the serengeti in 7.5 and they didn't work. I could get my foot in but wearing them was a joke. I got an 8 and they are perfect. I'm glad to see Jbird concur because I thought I got a bad pair of serengeti, but I think that pattern does run smaller.
ReplyDeleteI got all excited about the 30% off only to have jcrew.com tell me to 'Stay Tuned' arghhhhh
ReplyDeleteTwiga
Re the Juliets: I am a 6.5 in JC as well. I have a black pair of juliets in this size and they just fit. The toe box is small and narrow. I can only fit a bare foot in them, no tights. I sized up to a 7 for my second pair of juliets for more comfort. They are not here yet but I am sure I will have to put a heel grip in them to make up for the extra length
ReplyDeleteAnnette: The Cashmere Harper sweater was very disappointing. The shape was very tent-like and the pleats were uneven. The price is fantastic, but IMO the shape was not at all flattering. HTH!
ReplyDeleteI splurged on a little something-somthing: Merangue shirt and fresco cardi.
ReplyDeleteReward for a brutal work schedule as of late...extra 30 was the only little push I needed!
patiently? waiting - I have been on this blog a while and I don't recall reading a post from a buyer that did not receive her items from the seller. Hopefully she will ship. I think it's a crime to take your money and not ship. Literally.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice that they UN-MARKED some sale items? Like the slingback mary janes, they are full priced now! Yesterday they were on sale! And also the Merino v-neck cardigan, that used to be on sale but now it's full price.
ReplyDeleteWHAT'S GOING ON?
I was shopping & when I went to look at my cart I got this message:
ReplyDelete403 Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /index.jsp on this server.
Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) DAV/2 Server at www.jcrew.com Port 80
I cannot access the J.Crew site at all now, & customer service told me to email blah blah. Has anyone dealt with this? I have restarted my router & still no luck. Any advice?
Thank you!
Hey y'all - I have a question about final sale and wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience. I ordered the plisse strap dress when it was marked down to I think $49.99 - unfortunately it's too big. Now, in the past when I've ordered final sale stuff, both the receipt and the plastic bag stuff ships in have been clearly marked with "FINAL SALE", but this was not the case with the dress. I also noticed this morning when I added two different items to my order from the final sale section that only one of them had FINAL SALE next to it when I looked at my shopping bag. Does this mean that the stuff that isn't marked final sale can still be returned even though I ordered it from the final sale section? I actually just sent back the plisse strap dress and a t-shirt that was too big, so I guess I'll find out soon enough haha. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAllison- I KNOW!!! I wanted that Merino Cardigan in the other colors but now they're like $88! That's so sneaky of them to put the prices back up! I also wanted that jeweled bangle that was $19 and now it's back up to $28. Also, some of the Editor handbags were on sale last night and now they aren't! JCrew is very very sneaky!
ReplyDeleteAnnette: I liked the cashmere Harper sweater! I guess it just depends on what kind of style you're looking for. My problem area is my tummy, so I liked that it sort of flowed out and didn't hug at the waist. IMO it's worth the 49.99 plus the 30% off!
ReplyDeleteJulia, as long as the invoice doesn't say or indicate final sale, you can return it to the store. I just returned a pair of opera gloves that were on sale and with a prior 20% off promotion and I had no problem returning the gloves at the store.
ReplyDeleteJulia,
ReplyDeleteYep you sure can take it back. The only stuff you can't take back is the stuff when you add it to your cart it comes up with a big red message saying "final sale, no returns". Other than that I have had NO problems returning anything from the final sale section.
Woo-hoo! I placed an order yesterday morning, and then got a price adjustment last night because of the sale! FWIW the EXTRA30 caused the price of the following to go down:
ReplyDeletesilk linen v-neck
high heel flare jeans (FS)-hope they fit
silk ripple top
The site is down!!!
ReplyDeleteI purchased the charmeuse pencil skirt in twig, the navy meringue top, the glazed pecan merino michelle cardigan, saturday pants in mossy shadow, and the skinny serengeti patent-leather belt. I purchased items I can wear now & based on j.crew's fall pics the items will carry over!
ReplyDeleteJulia - I purchased a Final Sale item once where the fit was awful - too big in the shoulders, too tight in the chest so no sizing up or down would have helped. I called, explained it did not fit, they said I could return it no problem. I took it to a store to return it, the SA even said, yeah we had this in the store and it was a problem, they gave me a full refund including shipping! But since yours does not say FS on the bag or invoice, return with ease. It will not be a problem.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting! My e-mail about the promotion came past 1 pm, but thanks to your post, I got some things this morning. (And the site had problems intermittently during the ordering process, and one item sold out during the prolonged process, but I did manage to place most of an order.) Got the meringue top in pewter, the cashmere swing sweater and Harper sweater in putty, the tissue ruffle cardigan in dark charcoal, and two of the puff-sleeve tops in dark charcoal and natural. Only the cashmere swing sweater shows up in my bag as final sale, which is good as I'm not sure which size I take (and I've heard some reviews say that you need to size down in the puff-sleeve tops). Can't wait till they come!
ReplyDeleteEarlier this morning I purchased the patent Cate slingbacks, 2 meringue sleeve tops, the lattice cami, library shawl cardi, and the pintuck dress. :-)
ReplyDeleteKristin, which item was it that fit so horribly?
ReplyDeleteRe: taking things off sale, j.crew does that from time to time on the "promo" items (not ending in .99). I think they want to train us to buy things on first promo rather than wait for a bigger discount.
To the one who purchased from weekly exchange without selling having shipped: did you use paypal? I think they have some recourse for fraud. I would email the seller and say that if she doesn't ship soon you are going to report her to paypal.
ReplyDeleteLots of good stuff in FS this morning but it all disappeared quickly. Oh well... I don't really neeeeeed anything anyway.
ReplyDeleteYay! I ordered the pleated silk skirt this morning since it was on sale for $110 with the 30% off and am anxious to see how it looks on me since others have given it mixed reviews.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 1:35 - I sent a money order to the seller. It was made out in her name so only she could cash it. The bank said that for a fee they can track if it is cashed. I have the sellers name and address, not a P.O.
ReplyDeleteThe most frustrating part is that the item came up on FS for slightly less than the asking price during our initial emails and I didn't buy it because I had already entered into the agreement with the seller. To me, it was not ethical to abandon the agreement and purchase elsewhere. :(
@Anon 11:29 - The copley store had a pretty decent selection for new items. They had an okay section for sale items - I think it depends on what you're looking for. By the way, we have a Boston JCA group (not sure if you are already a part of it) - we had our first outing this past weekend! If you are interested in joining, e-mail me! :)
ReplyDeletei personally like the cashmere harper sweater. it is definitely not fitted as the description says and has more of an a-line shape, but the bust and shoulders fit nicely. if you are torn between sizes, go with the smaller one! hth!
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 11:29,I prefer the selection @ Atrium or Burlington better than Copley. They both have alot of new items and a large sale section
ReplyDeleteThank you, J. CREW! I picked up the following:
ReplyDeleteSwiss-dot Fontana dress in tropial aqua (hoping this might come in time for Easter, fingers crossed)
Merino mariner sweater in snow
Cate patent slingbacks in bronzed twig
Fresco cardigan in washed shell (LOVE the Fresco print, like the Trastevere print last year)
Sateen pencil skirt in Navy
Hurray for beautiful spring clothes! Can't wait to wear them out and about in the warm weather.
I was looking at the stretch wool daphne dress. Does anyone know anything about the fit? thanks.
ReplyDeletethe whole j crew site just collapsed! woo hoo! surely that means there will be some extra discounts offered in the days to come for the inconvenience.
ReplyDeleteOh my god I have been having problems with the site all day. What is wrong with them? Other stores get 10x more traffic and never crash.
ReplyDeletedoes anyone have an idea of the fit of the banded french swimsuit top? i'm a 34b, thinking about getting the medium.. in my experience their tops have been on the small side. just worried b/c it isn't adjustable (or returnable!)..
ReplyDeletepatiently waiting-sorry to hear about this. Hopefully the seller is just slow at getting back to you.I posted on the "looking for" section of the exchange and received what I thought was a sketchy email so I'm glad I did not go through with it because it was $100 as well. Do keep us posted! At this point, I don't think there is much you can do but wait :(
ReplyDeletepatiently? waiting
ReplyDeleteSometimes people forget... I have definitely forgot to tell people I sold stuff to, what the shipping details are. Also, people are busy and most of the time when there are communication lapses it is just because of business and forgetfulness, in my experience! However paying with a money order is asking for trouble (which is why eBay no longer allows sellers to accept them unless the buyer specifically requests). I'm sure the seller is just busy or forgot to tell you. At least, I hope that is the case!
Just give it a little more time and politely e-mail the seller... I hope it works out for you :)
To anonymous at 2:53:
ReplyDeleteThe stretch Daphne wool dress fits pretty true to size. I am sometimes a 2 and sometimes a 4, so I ordered both. I like things to be as fitted as possible where I can still breathe, so I ended up going with the 2 because it blouses out ever so slightly below the waistband (could be annoying to some) and I felt the 4 bloused out a lot more. Also, I found the dress to be a little too long (2 inches below the knee - I am 5'7"), so I got it hemmed for free at the store since I'm a cardholder. But overall it's a fabulous deal at 30% off $99. I am jealous because I paid $112! A great basic once you get it to a flattering length.
UPS just dropped off a couple of packages so I thought I'd leave a few comments on the items received.
ReplyDeleteTextured hemp jacket in navy.
This item fits TTS, although I'm not sure I like the fit. The sleeves end right at the elbow, which I may need to get used to. There is a slit in the sleeves so it's not a problem of comfort, just style. It's swingy at the waist and flares out quite a bit, like those a-line jackets from the 60's. Nice fabric and tailoring. I have the skirt already and it's awesome. If I can accept the styling "features" of the jacket, it's a keeper.
Luxe wool wellies in heather graphite (herringbone).
These are J.Crew's own brand, not made by Hunter. Original retail was $120 and I got them for $39. TTS with a comfortable footbed and slim shaft so they are not floppy. The wool is a nicer touch than plain black wellies as I can't bring myself to wear the brightly colored ones to work. Definitely a keeper heading into spring.
Maggie jacket in camel.
I have coveted the camel Maggie for months and it finally came back up on sale in my size. Suspicious that it was a worn/damaged return I inspected it closely and it appears fine, the tag is still intact even. TTS, and what a beautiful jacket. I love the double-serge fabric and the construction of this piece is very well-done. The camel color will work for spring's neutral palette and for fall I will wear with my camel glenbrae boots. Definite keeper.
Serengeti patent leather belt and leather suiting belt.
I would say these are TTS even though they are the same size but different lengths. The patent belt read that it could be worn at the hips or waist so it's a little longer and has more holes. Both are nice belts, J.Crew does their belts quite well IMO. Keeping them both.
I also purchased the Red Wing rugged classic boots and Vintage Bootcut jeans in vintage worn wash for my husband. If any of the fellas on the blog would like details on these items I can report back once my husband is home from the road trip.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Finally got the website to work!! ordered Claudia Crackle metallic pumps for $48:) and the Faille Maisey jacket in champagne. I have the dusty rose in this jacket and love it!
ReplyDeleteTwiga
I'm new to the Weekly Exchange and have never purchased from ebay so I was naive enough to send a money order. I guess I need to get a PayPal account if I ever do this in the future. Although, if this doesn't work out I'm not sure I would try it again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice and kind words Anonies and Em. I will update later how it all worked out. Or didn't.
It was only a matter of time before someone got screwed on the daily exchange. I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.
ReplyDeleteThank you to the Canadian JCA who posted the free ship code for Browns Shoes. I was able to buy a pair of Chie Mihara boots regular $598 on sale for $139 with free shipping. I love Chie Mihara but can seldom afford the price. One of the best parts is that there is no duty, import fees or exchange rate. Shipping is only $5.00 per item without the code, but I never would have checked the site without the post about the code.
ReplyDeleteYou made my day! Hope yours is fabulous too!
Site keeps going up and down. It is only down for a few mintues and then back up and then down again. Really crazy the crap we fans put up with!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to place my order so I think what I want will be gone:( Sad:(
patiently? waiting
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend a paypal account because there is great recourse for buyers, when sellers do not ship. Sellers have to use delivery confirmation and have proof of delivery to be protected under Paypal's seller protection policy... so it's really pretty safe for buyers, and it is an incentive for sellers to be honest.
Good luck and do let us know what happens.
I know I've had countless awesome experiences buying, selling, and even trading on the weekly exchange and I hope you won't let one (potentially) bad experience turn you off from it!
patiently? waiting: I am really sorry to hear about your situation. :(
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Em's suggestion/ advice about using PayPal. Using PayPal not only hides everyones' financial account information, it offers a method of recourse for both parties.
I hope you get your item! :)
Update
ReplyDeleteno instore add'l 30 off
however the ballet flats are add'l 25% off, got the pink metallic and the bermuda shorts which are 10$ off
lexieloo, does the charmeuse pencil skirt seem to wrinkle easily? I looove this skirt and am also tall, straight, sans hips... so I'm thinking of going for it with this code. Just worried it will look horrible as soon as I sit down. :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI caved and ordered the Juliets in dusty rose, which I have been eyeing for some time. They came out to $111 with shipping, which is only $6 more than if I had been able to find them in a store and use the 25% off red card. No stores near me have them, so I figured I couldn't pass this up. I hope they fit!
ReplyDeleteI just placed an order :). Glad that at least the student discount could applied, even though I wish that it should be the free shipping..
ReplyDeleteWhat a day, not only did I score my bright blue Coralies but I also got my red 25% card in the mail today!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone in San Fran recommend good b&m locations to visit on my trip there in a few weeks? Anywhere close to a muni line is good. Thanks!
Anon @ 3:45 - you're welcome for the code!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad someone else was able to use it too. There are some great deals at Browns from time to time. Another good Canadian site for shoe shopping is Gravity Pope dot com. They also have good sales and if you live near a store they will ship to the store at no charge.
For anyone interested: I received the Metallic Linen Strapless Dress in Flax today (size P0). It's better IRL because you can see the metallic flecks running through. It feels great against the skin. (73% cotton, 24% linen, 3% other). I would say the skirt is tulip shaped, which might not work for everyone. There is an interior elastic strap to keep the dress up (nice feature). The only downside might be... from a distance, the material looks a bit like a burlap sack, and the color might not work for everyone either.
ReplyDeleteSoon to be PhD Westfield shopping center on Market St is pretty good. The staff there are really helpful and it is on the Muni line. Lots of other shops in Westfield too.
ReplyDeleteOT:
ReplyDeleteI have two EXPRESS store coupons:
1. $30 off your $75 purchase (good through Apr 12)
2. 25% off your $75 purchase (Apr 13-26,2009)
Email me with your address and I'll mail them:

No red card for me so far :( I got one last time so I am still holding out hope. If anyone has one extra, please let me know! TIA!
ReplyDeleteImvilepliskin@aol.com
Whoa, the extra 30 really cleaned house. Not much left but the same old stuff.
ReplyDeleteUndoubtedly there are honest sellers & buyers on the exchange, but there's a better reason to use ebay - yeah, there are fees, but they're not much, and you'll never worry about a transaction.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about picking up the Olivia sweater in bright berry. Does anyone know if it runs TTS?
ReplyDeleteI got the Duchamp-print Astor jacket that I've been wanting for forever, but not wanting to spend $450 or even $300 for. Also got a cashmere sweater. Neither of them are marked as final sale, but I got 30% off both. I'm nervous that I'll get an email saying the Astor jacket is gone.
ReplyDelete^I hope you get the Duchamp jacket; it looks great. Don't cry if your cashmere sweater is the item that's cancelled - j.crew's is crap.
ReplyDeleteComing in wayyy late here. The one week I forego my Tuesday 9:40am final sale site check...Figures. I would not be opposed to us starting a phone tree/text tree for occasions like this :)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'm really trying to track down is a swimsuit top in the cerise color. I've tried about 6 styles with fair-to-middlin' results. Anyone have any recs for tops for C-D cup sizes? I bought the tortolla trim bottoms in cerise, and they're brilliant, but the matching top made me look like an American Gladiator...
Unless I wake up when it's still dark, being in the west coast guarantees I'd miss the updates in the morning, when there's a 30% off no less. Then there's no red card in the mailbox. And my B&M doesn't offer extra percent off. Okay, multiple signs are telling me not to buy anything ;) Well, I'm happy for those who scored the goods and the red cards. I'll just live vicariously through you girls.
ReplyDeletePatiently? Waiting, so sorry to hear about your ordeal! I never bought or sold anything in the past, until the exchange that is. I signed up for a paypal account not knowing much about it. After a couple of transactions, I could see its advantage and also urged buyers to use paypal, except once when a JCA really preferred money order. While I rushed out to ship the items and emailed confirmation the day I received it(one I still haven't cashed), it's likely some may be busy or forgetful. I really hope your situation will resolve quickly. Best of luck!
Dang it....I was looking at the Cashmere Boyfriend Cardigan last night and what do you know, it's gone. Nothing left but xs and s.
ReplyDeletedoes anyone need a 25% off card? i got two in the mail. you can send your postal address to cmf221@hotmail.com and i'll drop it in the mail.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping there is another large update tomorrow and Thursday.
ReplyDeleteHi, does anyone own the Beaded Chiffon Glisse cami? I would love it for Easter Sunday but it is really expensive and am wondering if it is worth it?
ReplyDeleteAny insight would be appreiated!
I purchased the cropped chino in 3 colors, the stretch summerweight bermuda in bright tulip, and the chiffon pleated cardigan in honey. It was great having 30% off.
ReplyDeleteKate: How long are they good for?
ReplyDeleteKate-I just sent you an email-I would love your extra card! JCA's are the BEST!
ReplyDeleteTIA!
Kim
Do you think the site will update tonight, early tomorrow or same bat time, same bat channel?
ReplyDeletethe red card has been claimed! sorry to everyone else.
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeleteI love the 30% off sale but don't enjoy those follow emails that start "we are sorry to inform you..." :(
ReplyDeleteDid not score. I wanted the pink and green fresco evening bag, but it was already gone this morning. And the dusty rose Michelle cardigan was sold out. Ah, well.
ReplyDeleteI've only ever had one item canceled from all my FS orders and I was able to pick up the item 2 days later. Lucky, I guess.
ReplyDeletemusthavejcrew-don't order it! I splurged and paid the full $175 and when I got it a BEAD WAS ALREADY FALLEN OFF AND LAYING IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BAG. It came in a flimsy brown paper bag, not extra special packaging for it being a collection piece. I was totally turned off. Returned it the next day. It's pretty but not for that much $$.
ReplyDeleteHTH
Soon to be PHD:
ReplyDeleteDef head to the downtown SF Center store. You can't miss it, its the biggest mall, near Union Square and all the downtown BART stations. Great mall overall!
There is another JC at Stonestown Mall, but thats way down south more, almost at Daly City already. You CAN take a couple of different munis from downtown to get there.. if you want more specific info let me know..
Sheesh, the items sell out fast! I just purchased some Saturday pants and the Mahali print shorts, hopefully I'll get them! I just stopped by the store in center city philadelphia to see if there's any good sales or price differences. Slim pickings, the sale prices are similar to what's offered online, but no extra 30%.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the men's suede racer jacket, the one that looks like the tom cruise jacket in mission impossible 3, for 250. original price was 700 in fall 2008, marked down to 350 in spring 2009, 30% off = 250.
ReplyDeleteI got one two weeks ago with EXTRA20 but I ordered another as Ive heard suede is not very durable.
Whoever designs the men's collection at jcrew is a huge film/TV buff as many pieces are "inspired" read: copies of; designer clothing choosen by hollywood costumers.
Jackie in SF - isn't that the Westfield Center that the other poster mentioned?
ReplyDeleteI am really mad. I wanted so much after looking at the final sale section last night, but seeing as I work and cannot order during the day, everything is now gone. On top of this, I still haven't received my red card. I've already spent over $1000 since January and have a silver J. Crew card. Thanks, J. Crew.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a silver card? Like BR Luxe? Any special benefits?
ReplyDeleteSame as regular card. I do not think J. Crew takes care of all of their loyal customers. I think they know we will buy regardless of promotions so they ignore us.
ReplyDeleteEdward, I was thinking the same thing about the women's line after finally catching the Sex and the City movie on HBO. I saw so many parallels with recent JCrew offerings--gold sequin skirt, chiffon rosettes . . . even a dress that looked strikingly similar to the pink Ava. And talk about belts! Did anyone else notice this, or am I just JCrew-hallucinatory at this point?
ReplyDeleteAnon at 8:11 - why don't you try not spending so much money there to teach them a lesson? They wouldn't neglect their customers if you stopped letting them get away with it. That goes for all of you shopping addicts.
ReplyDeleteJust picked up some pieces I had been eyeing for awhile and so glad I waited for the 30 off discount. Among my picks were:
ReplyDelete-the silk garland gladiola-print cami in bright sun
-the Victoria ruffle cami in golden olive
-the silk-linen V-neck sweater in bronzed twig
- more pairs of the fab fitting high-heel flare jeans
I just saw SATC movie on hbo, too. What a disappointment. I'd give it one, maybe 1.5 stars out of 4. One cliched storyline after another.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else dying for the cotton ruffle swirl tank to come out? You know it's the one under the cashmere sweater under new arrivals! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, ladies! Someone reviewed treasure silk tunic, but I can't find that review. How does it fit ?TTS or need to DS?
ReplyDeleteI always manage to find things in the final sale :) I love % off! I got the Silk georgette pleated tank in celery, and the Chiffon pleated cardigan in navy. At first they wouldn't apply the % off and school discount, but after speaking with the manager, they said they could for "courtesy." I love the discount, but I wish they didn't make me feel so awkward about using it!
ReplyDelete@anon
ReplyDeleteI am not as familiar with the women's line but if jcrew designers needed fashion "inspiration" sex and the city is a safe and marketable choice.
Can someone describe the dusty rose color in Juliet patent heels for me? On my monitor it looks pink but I remember someone mentioned that it was more neutral? Maybe I remember wrong... Thank.
ReplyDeleteI also ordered the dusty rose Juliet heels earlier today! I have been eyeing them for a while and could not resist to order them as soon as I saw them on sale. Can't wait to get them!
ReplyDeleteSoon to be PhD- SF Westfield has great SAs and a better selection of new merchandise. Stonestown Galleria's SAs are not always helpful, but I love to go there to check out the sale section. I always find gems there. Downtown also has shoes. Stonestown is easy to get to from downtown center, just hop on the M line going outbound. It takes you straight there in less than 20 minutes. HTH!
ReplyDeletePatiently Waiting, I'm afraid to say I'm having a similar experience. I consider myself a savvy buyer and I went for it, so don't feel bad about yourself. I felt that meeting the person here meant they were trustworthy and I need to remember that I still have to be careful and ask questions. My item was only $20, I paid by check because the seller said she did not have a Paypal account. I mailed my check on February 24. I've emailed the seller and at first she answered that she would check on shipping but now she doesn't respond. I truly hope that something has come up in her life that prevents her from taking care of things right now. Lesson learned, but naturally I'm curious as to whether you and I are talking about the same person.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone get their April catalog in the mail yet? Between page 18 and 19 is a $25 gift card good toward any purchase of $125 or more in stores. It's good until Sunday, April 19.
ReplyDeleteI e-mailed J Crew yesterday regarding the red card and petites. J Crew told me that they would honor the red card for petites if you order in a retail store with the red phone. :)
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew put prices back up on a couple of items which have been on the sales section:( But I found that J.Crew B&M offers better deals than J.Crew online. For example,
ReplyDeleteCotton V-neck sweater: Online $64 -> B&M $39.99
Merino michelle V-neck cardigan: Online $88->B&M $39.99 (almost all colors)
Merino microstripe V-neck cardigan: Online $59.99->B&M $39.99
If you have a red card, you can get 25% off too.
I was trying to be good by not looking when the news first got out. Yipee it worked! Most everything is gone. (doing the 2step with my wallet right now) LOL There is one skirt that is on final sale for $99.00. I figure I will wait it out even longer.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 10:27PM. I did get their April catalog in the mail but didn't see the $25 gift card good toward any purchase of $125 or more in stores between page 18 and 19 you mentioned. :( Oh well... Haven't gotten that lovely little coveted Red Card (yet) either. It's probably better. I've been shopping like a madwoman at BR and JC over the past several months.
ReplyDeleteIf people from the weekly exchange are practicing shady business practices, perhaps they should be outed so other people will know not to trasact with them...
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 8:52 - I posted quite a while back that I saw several items in SATC movie that J.Crew appeared to have copied because the movie was out long before the items. The Ava dress on Carrie, the Italian Deco dress on Miranda, and there were others but I can't remember now. I saw the movie at least 2 months ago and was pointing out items to my gal pals as we watched. Oh look, that item is so similar to J.Crew's blah, blah, blah. Needless to say they told me to put a lid on it and watch the movie. LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt's so interesting to realize that fashion is often very similar between designers. It's the little touches that make the lines appealing to some people and not others. I believe that J.Crew has mastered those little touches with the JCA community and of course, those that don't even read the blog. There is something about it that keeps us coming back. Love it and I personally think Jenna is doing a fabulous job overall!
I am giving the seller a little more grace time to respond. It has really only been a few days so I shouldn't outright panic. I felt very bad about it today, thinking I had been had but I decided I will give them the benefit of the doubt for a little while longer. If I am taken then it will be lesson learned and information will be shared as a caution to others. I could not, in all good conscience, sully someone's reputation if there is a legitimate reason for the delay. Sometimes life happens.
ReplyDeleteAnon 907pm put a sock on it. Why would others spending their money aka shopping addicts tick you off so much? You happen to be trolling on a shop loving site or did you forget? LOL
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 11:52 PM. If by the end of this week, if neither of us received the coveted red card, the $25 card is yours if you'd like. I got most of the Spring stuff I wanted (except for 2 or 3 items I'm keeping an eye on;). I'm crossing my fingers for us since the red card will save more money. Good luck! Anybody else receive the $25 gift card towards a purchase of $125 or more in their new April catalog?
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 11:52. I meant if you receive the red card and/or I receive the red card by the end of this week, you can have my $25 off $125 or more in store purchase:) Sorry about the typo.
ReplyDeleteSomewhat of topic ....could anyone tell me how is the fit for the serengeti mid heels, and the gayle heels...thx
ReplyDeletePatricia, there are a couple of earlier posts on this thread that discuss the fit of the serengeti shoes.
ReplyDeleteGot excited today b/c my husband said I had got something in the mail from Jcrew..........it was just my credit card bill. I get nothing in the mail from them but my bills. Blah!
ReplyDeleteThanks JCrewlover. I'm going to the mall today, I'll try to find something else. If I had a brain I would just shop my closet!
ReplyDeleteI tried to order a dress last night but the site was running slow and then I would get Stay Tuned and then a minute later it would come back up...but by that time...an hour and a half had gone by and I lost my dress in size and color. I am so disgusted with JCrew's still underperforming website!
ReplyDeleteI ordered the crosshatch cardigan (love this one but store did not have the color I wanted), jacquard metallic skirt, marquise stone belts in both colors, liberty fabric shirt in pewter (up close is so pretty!), and tea rose scalloped top:)
ReplyDeletecan anyone review the swiss-dot melody dress? is it tts?
ReplyDeletethanks!
Anyone on a Silk Treasure Tunic??Please, please?:)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the San Fran b&m suggestions, I can't wait to visit!
ReplyDeleteMissed the rosette tee again this morning, but there is good news. The applique "cherry blossom" tee is now $29.99, or $21 after the EXTRA30 code! Hurry!
ReplyDeletedid the site update already today? i am seeing the same numbers as last night in sale section
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 7:59. I purchased the melody swiss dot. I think it runs TTS for me, given that it has a relatively straight skirt. I am 5'-4" and straddle regular and petite sizing. I wear either a 6R or 8R or an 8P or 10P. Because I am more pear-shaped, I need to size up when skirts are straight cut like the melody. Even though I sized up to an 8, the shoulders still fit well. I tried a 10P, but it was wee bit too short for me.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is really nice and the dress is lined. The dots add a nice bit of texture and visual interest. I was worried that the sleeve and the swiss dot fabric might result in a dress that looked too young. IRL, the combinatino works to create a feminine but not too girlish look.
Anon @ 10:09, thank you!
ReplyDelete---anon @ 7:59
Rosie--
ReplyDeleteThanks for the head's up on applique tee! I've been dying for this shirt and just got it in both colors. So excited!
Not entirely sure if the sale site has updated yet for the day since it still seems to be pretty light.
Site has been updated:)

ReplyDeleteYEAY!!!!! I ordered the shimmy dress, elephant necklace and the leather gloves that michele obama wore on the inauguration !!
ReplyDeleteMichelle Obama in more J Crew.....
