Awhile back, several J.Crew Aficionadas living in the Washington D.C. area got together for an evening of fun (refer to Slastena's post and 3-Penny Princess' post to read & see fantastic pictures of the event). Over at 3-Penny Princess' blog (click here), she announced that there will be another outing (brunch & shopping), for the Washington, D.C. area Aficionadas. {Sounds lovely!} Even more exciting, according to her post: "The Arlington-Pentagon City J.Crew store is excited to host the D.C. Aficionadas for a private wardrobing session on Sunday, March 29! The store will open early just for *us* so we can check out the season's newest arrivals - before anyone else". How awesome is that!!! Click here to learn more about this {amazing} event.
Inspired by the wonderful time had by the Washington D.C. area Aficionadas, there will be a Boston JCA event. Over at the {great} J'Adore These Stores blog (click here), there is a post (click here), that will help coordinate Aficionadas living in the Boston, MA area to meet and have a fun time out.
I have to say that I love, love, love the idea of JCA chapters across the country! :)
Envy! May the force of the powerful JCA social chapter Virus spread ... Any SA at the San Francisco store want to sponsor a small event for Bay Area Aficionadas? Stanford Mall?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of chapters. So fun! I can't wait till us Boston gals meet up. I'm totally jealous of the DC ladies and their special before hours shop around! :) I wish we could do the same!
ReplyDeleteHow did the DC gals get J.Crew to open early for them?
ReplyDeleteAlexis- all the credit goes to YOU for creating your fantastic blog and helping people come together. I am extremely grateful. I got to meet so many wonderful gals who share my interests and more. Can't wait for our brunch!
ReplyDeleteAnon @10:28 am : one of the PS contacted us directy with the offer. See her invite here. It was so unexpected and lovely. We already planned to meet for brunch and now this will be an extra bonus. All are welcome to join!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous! :) I wish there was a Chicago JCA chapter!
ReplyDeleteAlexis - thank you so much for posting this! We are all here because of you! (And our rabid obsession...)
ReplyDeleteMy DH just read this post and said, "You girls have chapters - what are you, a sorority?" And I said, "Only the best-dressed sorority out there!" For our initiation, we each have to put together one complete J.Crew outfit.:)
I simply cannot contain my excitement at seeing all the D.C. Aficionadas! Ladies (and gentlemen who'd like to join), please don't hesitate to send me a comment on my blog or a private Polyvore message with your email so I can add you to the evite.
To those who are wondering how to get your local store to host you, I would recommend contacting either the manager or a personal shopper. The Pentagon City manager told me that she follows our J.Crew blogs (we're celebrities!) and had actually suggested to her personal shopper that she contact us. So, the Pentagon City PS contacted Slastena through her blog and suggested that, for our next get-together, we come over for a private wardrobing session. Slastena posted it and the D.C. ladies' response was very positive, so I called the manager and worked out the logistics. (I'm ashamed to admit that I talk to my manager more than I talk to some of my friends! :) But even if you don't know your manager well, I'm sure that any store would jump at the chance to host a private shopping event!
The manager suggested that we either come in the morning before the store opened, or, in the evening when the store was closing. Sunday actually worked out perfectly because the store has the shortest hours. They even offered to serve light refreshments, which was sweet! The date that everyone chose for brunch also coincided with the arrival of the new spring/summer line at the J.Crew store, so it couldn't have worked out better.
We'll be sure to write about it and take photos after the event. Good luck in the rest of your chapters!
We totally need a Chicago JCA chapter! I would join. Anyone willing to start one?
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 10:28: It's totally do-able that J.Crews will open early to host special events and stuff. If you're interested in one, just talk to your local store director for details.
ReplyDelete@ Silver-Haired: I'd love to have one in the bay area as well! I was getting all jealous with the east coast JCA-love and just thought maybe it was more popular there. But come onnnn, West Coasters! There's lots of JCrew love here, too!
ReplyDeleteAnd--OT but HILARIOUS--have you guys ever seen this east coast vs west coast spoof from Smirnoff? (Sorry, I have a stupid sense of humor):

Because you know...I'm sure this is exactly what east and west coasters are like. :)
Anon w/ Tea Partay= THANK you! LOL! It was too funny! Boyz from West are Hottt!
ReplyDeleteIn College we had a Tea Partay after the original video was released...AMAZING! You just brought back great memories ANON
ReplyDeleteLucky DC & Boston JCA's! Have fun at your next get together!!
ReplyDeleteSilver-Haired JCrewer and Anon @3:15:
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if we could organize something like this and represent the JCA West Coast chapter ;)
We have two stores in San Francisco (and some more all over the Bay Area), pretty sure SAs would welcome something like this!
Wow, I'm so jealous! I'm a DC area JCA but since the stores don't carry their petite sizes, it doesn't seem worth the effort. But I hope everyone who does attend the special event finds it worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco and California Bay Area JCAs:
ReplyDeleteSpecial thanks to my sisters Anon @3:15 and SanFranciscoCA and a SHOUT OUT to our other sisters in this area!
Yes, let's have an outing. How delicious. Perhaps someone, like SanFranciscoCA, who has an eblog would briefly sponsor a sign-up? Just to organize our names and let a Store Director/Manager know we'd come? [It's hard to find a JCA topic to insert ourselves, but we could do Shout Outs for the next few blog issues to get the local sisters together on Alexis' Magical JCA site.]
The stores that get the best quality including occasional collection pieces seem to be Stanford Mall and Westfield Mall, but the Daly City, San Jose, East Bay Walnut Creek are all future sites for frolicking! And March 17 Emeryville opens.
Our East Coast sisters had too much fun for us not to host a West Coast version!
Who's in?
What a wonderful idea - have fun guys! Now, if only J Crew would open a Toronto store so I could set up a Toronto chapter.
ReplyDeleteWest Coast JCAs don't seem to reveal as much (i.e. photos) in their blogs as the East Coast JCAs. I'm not sure why we're more private. I am up for meeting in person.
ReplyDeleteIf any Philly JCAs are interested in meeting up, that would be cool!
