Madewell sent an email letting us know that they "know white jeans". According to the email, "nothing says Spring quite like a pair of white jeans- and when it comes to the most flattering gits, we're the experts".
The email also showcases an outfit, featuring the Chambray Tunic ($89), Skinny Low Garment-Dyed Jeans ($115), Embroidered Fringed Scarf ($52), and the Gladiator Sandal ($145).
I like the outfit, but there is no way I could pull it off. ;) I am also not a fan of those particular gladiator sandals. I much prefer the Vachetta Sandals (Item 88559; was $88.00, now $29.99 ) offered by J.Crew. But that's what is great about having choices, we can all choose what we like! ;)
As for the Chambray Tunic... I still wear denim jackets, but I haven't worn a denim shirt is such a long time. (I think the last time I wore a denim shirt, was 5 or 6 years ago.) So this got me thinking, are denim shirts still in style? :)
I think all the Madewell items look great on the models, but I can't see myself wearing any of them! I went to the Madewell store in Boston when I was visiting a couple of weeks ago, and I was really disapppointed... I was expecting it to be a slight variant of J Crew. But all they had were skinny jeans :( and otherwise just denim and some nice looking leather boots but nothing that you couldn't get at any other store.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that JCrew is offering an extra 30% off on sale items with EXTRA30 - the website was just updated.
ReplyDelete^Thanks anon. This is a great deal.
ReplyDeletehas anyone tried the cotton-poplin tie front dress? would love to know if it's TTS!
ReplyDeletei love the white jeans look. but those are quite pricey IMO.
ReplyDeleteAlexis, I agree with you about those gladiator sandals...not my cup of tea!

ReplyDeleteldc: I agree with you. Madewell looks great in the images and when I see them in person, I don't feel like they live up to the images. :)
ReplyDeleteAnon at 12:14 AM & GoldCoastGal: Thanks for letting us know the great news! :)
Ashley: I am happy to hear I am not the only one who's not feeling those particular sandals. :)
I would be interested in visiting a Madewell store to see everything IRL...some of the pieces are really cute, and others are just not age-appropriate for me. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the Madewell stuff, but i live no where near an Madewell store and phone ordering from them is a huge pain! That said, I like to look at there website for ideas.
ReplyDeleteAlso, on the subject of denim shirts: I have a fitted denim shirt from levis that i got a few months ago, and I love wearing it. I especially like to wear it with black pants or a printed bottom, such as a cute printed J.Crew mini!
i really like the way the denim shirt is styled here... but i fear it wouldn't hold up in it's cuteness on me. :)
ReplyDeletethey need to get online shopping already! when i lived in austin i shopped there pretty frequently. it was hit or miss for me, but the sales were always nice.
The rail straight jeans from madewell are pretty flattering... I want them in white. Their denim is really thick so it's not tight and bad looking.. at least I think! I also tried on the super skinny ones of theirs... AWFUL. The rail straights are pretty nice though.
ReplyDeleteI am also not a fan of the gladiator sandals. I tried on some JCrew ones and they made my feet look huge (well, they are, but still).
I was referring to the "skinny low" jeans, BTW. don't do it!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are cute but since I use self-tanner on my legs in the summer, I stay away from white jeans. If it wasn't always so wet in spring I could fit them into my wardrobe but it's not a great idea if I get caught in the rain. Nice look, just so impractical for me.

ReplyDeleteI love white jeans!
ReplyDeleteI have worn my Gap fitted jean shirt since 2002. It is so comfy and can be dressed up or down. Lately I have been wearing it with my tomato or gold matchstick cords w/cheetah print pumps. Now that Spring is here I will wear it with khaki pleated skirt or my Nikki skirt & cami w/sandals.
I think a sense of style is not dictated by the hottest item or trend.
I have a stretch denim Gap shirt from several years ago, too, that I rock quite often. With linen or cotton skirts in the summer, or with chinos or cords in the winter. I've also never really given up on fitted jean jackets, either but I was kind of disappointed in the Nolita. I wanted the pintucks, and ordered it in the white, but the fit was kind of awkward on me almost like a men's fit so it had to go back.
ReplyDeleteAnon 1049am. I really love denim fitted jackets and feel they never go out of style. I also agree that JCrews Nolita was not a keeper or a great fitting ladylike denim jacket.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 10:49 and 9:59 -- I have the same stretch denim shirt from the Gap from several years ago. The more it fades, the better it looks, and it comes back into style every other year or so. Mine's got pearly snaps and looks great with a corduroy skirt in the fall. I'll probably wear it in the spring, too.
ReplyDeleteJ. Crew's white bootcut denims were on $20 off promo in the stores last week. They're great. I sized up over the high heel flares, because you don't want white jeans to be too tight. . . When I told the SA that, she said, "I wish I could convince other people who shop here of that . . ."
Oh my that is the shirt with the pearly snaps! Its to die for and does get better with age.
ReplyDeleteI have a really nice Gap fitted denim jacket from several seasons ago. It has a bit of stretch so it's very comfortable and it looks so nice on, really flattering. I don't have any denim shirts and they really aren't my style. Much prefer linen for a rugged look.
ReplyDeleteNICE POST
