A big "thanks!" to Jean (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code IWE-979. This offer expires 4/11/09. :)
I really appreciate the kindness of those who share the codes with the rest of us. It's been a long time since I received a catalog with a free shipping code inside. I am happy to have free shipping as I will often buy full priced items and it is nice to save something on the order.
Someone was posting a few days ago that JCrew has now aligned their inventory with the estimated demand. I totally agree as I've noticed a couple items sold out in certain sizes and colors already and I'm not talking about the chiffon rose or zebra tees. I have JCrew searching stores for an item I want that is gone in my size/color on the website and I don't want to say what it is lest a reseller is reading here and scoops them all up. The Find It CS said it was quite popular and there are a few Find It requests for this item already although it only sold out last week. Hopefully I will get my hands on it soon.
CS was incredibly nice to me when I called with the Find It request. I mentioned that I was placing an online order with the promo code and she gave me 20% off the Find It item too, even though it was not $175 by itself. She also said shipping was free, which I believe is always the case for Find It but I may be wrong. Now to make it perfect, the item will arrive on my doorstep next week.
It's a gamble to try and predict which items may sell out and which you can wait for discounting or a bigger promotion. This is not unique to J.Crew and I am not being negative about your comment captain crew, I'm actually saying the same thing, kind of. You could find something you like at any other store. Do you buy it or wait for a sale and take the chance that it will be gone in your color and size? J.Crew has adjusted and they are back to "normal" inventory. I predict that soon we will be back to the days of the same 10 items on final sale.
Thanks, and I agree with CaptainCrew that J.Crew has not put any "codes" in their catalogs for sometime...good thing there are sites like this out here for us JCA's!
Someone posted a few days ago about seeing Joely flats in brown and orange at the Boston store- has anyone seen this style, in either flat or heel anywhere else? Any other colors? For what price? Thanks!
The inventory levels are not normal, they are well below being normal levels, they have been adjusted to reflect the economic conditions. They will even get lower with the summer rollout.
Any JCAs living in the Bay Area interested in a $25 coupon off a $150 purchase good until March 31,2009 (Emeryville, CA store ONLY!) email me at sanfranciscoca09 at yahoo.com
I'll be out of town and won't be able to use this coupon!
Email me with your address and I'll mail it straight away!
Anon @ 445. It looks pretty normal to me. A few items are selling out but most are not. There are still plenty of items discounted and available so I don't know how that could mean inventory is lower than normal.
Ty for the code, but I will not be taking advantage. The website never works for me since the update- I get the ugly green screen.
Now, if JCrew offered Free Shipping back on returns like M+O does, I would shop there more often. I do not have a store within 50 miles of me, so returns are a bit of a hassle.
Echo Captain Crew, but wowee, I really bought a boatload of stuff at the Gap and Banana w/ the F/F coupon ~ thanks for posting that info here. Such good deals!
Well, I'm having problems on the site today. No matter what I click on, I get the green screen, "sorry we cannot process your request at this time." It happens whether I open in a new tab or try to just click through. Just when you thought the site was up and running steady for a while. Well, except for you JCrew Adorer. :(
Sorry for OT – Just got back from the local B&M and found that Merino microstripe V-neck cardigan #11920 was $39.99 (Online price is still $59.9). HTH!
Catalog? What's that? I feel like I haven't gotten a JCrew catalog since Christmas. I'm a JCrew Premium cardholder, so I'm quite sure they have my address...Hmmm. Anyone else not recieving catalogs?
Thanks for the promo code! I'm going to try to hold out and see if we get an extra percent off AND free shipping any time soon...but it's good to know there is something to fall back on :) Interesting comments about the inventory. I'll keep my eyes open for that.
Anon at 8:21- I haven't received the latest catalog, nor have I been getting any emails in the past couple of week. I was excited to hear about other JCAs in the bay area getting promo emails for the JC opening in Emeryville and I didn't get one of those either. I hate to complain, but I spend a fair amount of money each month at JC, so I was surprised I wasn't sent one. I guess I will just wait for a promo to be posted on this blog. I always get the best and latest ones here!! :)
OT- but has anyone noticed that in the Sale section, many of the items don't have pictures of models wearing them? I am wondering why this is, it is all ofa sudden!
Just pulled the trigger on 3 merino michelle cardigans (melon, citron, fuschia), victoria ruffle cami in fuschia (which will probably be too big, but I still wanted it badly), and quinn cami in fuschia. I'm into these brights right now.
Bekah, I wish that would happen too but now that JCrew has its inventory in line and no excess that won't be happening like at Christmas time. They really don't want anyone using more than one coupon code so if there is something you really want just use free shipping. Some popular items are selling out in certain sizes/colors.
anon 5:46 pm: What I meant by inventory levels are not normal they are only ordering in limited quantities ie. 50, when that sells out it is gone. Last year they would have ordered much larger quanities therefore you would had bigger sales. If you type in 99 when the new arrivals come out you will see what I mean.
Orders are placed months in advance. I doubt j.crew has been able to adjust for spring already. They're already working on fall, as evidenced by the special invite.
I'm sure they order more of some items than others - the $400 & up items, for example, wouldn't warrant as much inventory as a $100 item.
J.crew is desperately trying to juggle because of the recession, but orders were placed months ago for what's coming in now & it costs $$$ to cancel.
You need to go back and read some of the recent posts and news articles from JCrew esp. last weeks. They have infact got their inventory undercontrol...you won't be seeing free shipping and % off like at Christmas.
Dear J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados: Please feel free (and encouraged) to share your thoughts and opinions. :) However, please note that this is still a personal blog. So comments that are considered inappropriate (e.g. obscene, racist, homophobic, personal attacks, rude, and just plain mean) will be removed.

This may be off topic, but does anyone know which color from last season would look better with tea rose: bright papaya, or bright fuchsia? Thanks!

there has been non-stop free ship codes, and at least one if not two % off....
ReplyDeleteANon@9:26
ReplyDeleteBUT you cannot combine the two as you could in December and that is what people have been commenting/wanting...both.
