A big "thanks!" to Appgal who not only let us know about one of J.Crew's new arrivals being featured in the latest issue of Self magazine, but also scanned the images for us to view! (Click on the images itself or here to see it larger.)
The item shown is a three-quarter sleeve jacket described as "punchy pink" and retails for $148. Self magazine also states, "The power of today's bold saturated pink: It makes you feel as strong as you do soft."
The jacket does look pretty in the image. I also adore the color- that shade of pink is incredibly lovely! However, it is unclear from the image whether or not the jacket is fitted (which would be my preference). Luckily for us, Lizpoms (click here to see her post), Emily (click here to see her post). & GigiOfCa (click here to see her post) have taken a few images & commented on this particular jacket . From their images, the jacket is more swingy in its shape.
What are your thoughts on the jacket? Do you like (or dislike) this jacket's shape? Do you prefer to see more fitted jackets this Spring?
Ooooooh -- I am VERY interested in this jacket in the pink color. I thought the flax/gold was divine, but the pink could be very cute.
ReplyDeleteLove the color but I am getting a little tired of the peter pan collar. JC seems to be doing that on every non-suiting jacket.
ReplyDeleteIt's too cutsy imo and that's saying a lot coming from me lol
I tried on the linen/gold version tonight and found the cut to be very similar, if not identical, to that of the crocodile cocktail jacket. It is definitley not fitted, but you can take a little of the swing out by sizing down.
ReplyDeleteI'm also very drawn to the pink version and wonder what other colors are in store for us! I just hope the fabric is more like that of the crocodile cocktail, which is crisp, clean and neat. I found the linen blend too rumply dumply.

I agree with Shannon- I have a hard time with the peter pan collars. There's something about them that slips the jacket more into being "casual" than classic, and if I'm going to drop nearly $150 on something right now, it needs to be classic!
ReplyDeleteThe color is beyond pretty, though. I'm loving the peach and coral and pink colors J. Crew is showcasing this spring!
I love the color, too...very pretty. My intial reaction on the jacket is that it is the Atelier, but with a different collar...similar shape and cut, IMO.
ReplyDeleteSeems pretty bland to me. I own similar jackets from JCrew already. Wish there were more and different color choices...seems like lots of pink each season.
ReplyDeleteBlah.
ReplyDeleteI like the shape and was hoping it would come in another non-metallic color but I don't think this coraly-pink will work for me. If it's just those two colors I will have to pass.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the mag pix.
I agree with Shannon - I'm NOT a fan of the peter pan collar - yes, too cutsy and little girlish IMO. I do like the swing cut, though.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the colour, but, wish it was more fitted, it looks like a modified swing jacket. I would have to try on IRL. How does JC get featured in all these mags? Do they pay people?
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the jacket, but for me, it would come down to whether it was a fitted jacket or another one of J.Crew's boxy fits. It definitely has potential to be cute :)
ReplyDeletePink doesn't really go well with my skin tone, and I'm probably the only person on this blog who is not a huge fan of jackets. They're just not realistic for me in my line of work. I do like the shape of it though...the boxier cuts and peter pan collars don't bother me at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd OT...Does anyone agree that
these shoes are a cute and cheaper alternative to the adorable Cole Hann's that are also on this page? I really like the CH's, but can't justify paying $400 for them!
Gorgeous color and I love that ladylike design...maybe this weekend at Pentagon City I will try it on in this color (if they have it there).
ReplyDeleteI also love that orange silk top from Banana Republic, but at over 100 dollars cannot afford anytime soon...
I hate to be the bearer of bad news...
ReplyDeleteI called CS this morning to inquire about the new arrivals. She said that the new arrivals, for the April catalog, will not be online until next Wednesday. I don't know how accurate the information was, but I thought I'd pass it along just the same.
I always thought new arivals came on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but she seemed very confident with her answer.
I love that pink color- it almost looks like the tea rose color that J. Crew has been using this spring. I think that this is going to be a pass on me b/c of the fit. I tried on the gold version and it just didn't work on me.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink jacket - and that is something I am definitely looking for this spring adn want to check out Sunday at Pentagon City - a nice jacket. I loved the gold color that everyone posted about, but I am curious about this color, too.
ReplyDeleteAppGal - I agree the Clarks are a pretty good dupe for the CHs.
Once again JCrew shows us a photo of something that is very different from how it looks IRL. It is definitely "swingy" and wide-cut, not as shown in this photo. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm really getting tired of the "tweaking" to make things look good.
Saw this jacket in store in beige, fabric is ugg--like a burlap potato sack that someone sprayed gold sparkles on.
ReplyDeleteAlso hate Peter Pan collar. This is one of JC's least stylish pieces.
Like the color and not much else. I'm loving the BR Monogram shirt in orange and will have to check that out!
ReplyDeleteDifferent answers from different CS as to when the rollout is going to happen, typical J Crew CS, they do not know which end is up.
ReplyDeleteLike many others, I will pass on this jacket due to the peter pan collar and the boxy tailoring. I prefer a fitted jacket, and I hope J. Crew will offer such jackets in the coming months. I do love that pink color, however.
ReplyDeleteRalph Lauren has a really nice fitted pink linen jacket with black trim. The collar is angular, not round and the sleeves are 3/4. The pink is much softer, with blue undertones. I hate the way linen wrinkles or I would buy the RL jacket.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the gold metallic last weekend. It looked even better on me than on the hanger! And I love pink / coral colors, so I will definitely consider getting this one too! But then again, I wear jackets and skirts to the office most days of the week...
ReplyDeleteNew arrivals are up on the website! The jacket is available in both colors.
ReplyDeleteI bought this jacket earlier this week in the gold color. I love it. It looks dressy and kind of vintage. I think it looks like it could have cost a lot more than $150.
