First and foremost... Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone!
I know I have mentioned this before, but I l-o-v-e these posts. It is really interesting to hear what other Aficionadas and Aficionados plan on wearing, since it gives me lots of wonderful ideas for future outfits. :) So for this post, what we are planning to wear on Saint Patrick's Day? :)
What are you planning to wear this Saint Patrick's Day? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?
P.S. "Thanks!" to Anon at 10:08 AM (in this post) who let us know that code EXTRA20 works for taking off 20% on your entire order. It's unclear how long this will last. :)
I am head to toe JCrew, haha. I'm wearing gabardine trousers in dark grey, a perfect-fit scoop neck half-sleeve top in cerise, and a print silk scarf that has cerise, pink, brown, and tropical aqua in it on a cream background. No, I am not wearing green, but I am wearing orange!!
ReplyDeleteI am dressed (for work) in Ann Taylor Gray dress pants, J. Crew Green Piper cami, J. Crew navy Jackie cardigan. I painted my toes an organgish color before remembering that Ireland's flag is green, white and orange.
ReplyDeleteSadly I forgot to wear green!! I am decked out in J-Crew though!! Navy blue saturday pants, hot pink merino turtleneck sweater, all pulled together with my favorite pink and navy silk patchwork belt from last summer!!!
ReplyDeleteI am wearing my black J.Crew Carrie dress, with a white shirt and a BR green slik scarf/neck tie.
ReplyDeleteI Love my Carrie Dress! IT's so versitile! I roll the collar in and wear it with a proper shrit, or leave the collar out and wear it with a cardi.
I am wearing the Joelle blouse, in the mossy green color, which my boss did not think was festive enough! I can't argue with him because, well, he is a judge! I am wearing it with an express pencil skirt and my tall black rivington boots.
ReplyDeleteI almost wore my golden moss penelope peep toes but just didn't have enough time to put an outfit together this morning! dang.
I'm wearing a green ribbon neck tee from BR but with J.Crew jeans and a J.Crew White Jackie Cardigan :)
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Pat's Day!
No SPD wears for me today. I'm wearing the HHF jeans and an Issey sweater. [I got Issey on FS and ended up loving it!!]
ReplyDeletePosted it in last entry, but here is the appropriate place for it now. :)
ReplyDeletebrown cord mini, grey dream shoulder button sweater, plaid cropped jacket, green tights (we love colors), brown boots (palladium), "natasha" print le sportsac bag. on polyvore.
Bright green Wellesley v-neck sweater from about 4 years ago, over Muji black bell-bottoms, and bandolino "first date"(*) booties.
ReplyDelete(*) Boots used for self-defense by kicking a guy at the strategic area.
I am wearing a pair of Nine West peep toes that have a green floral and white pattern, black AT slacks, grey BR sweater tee, JC green linen striped scarf and Coach multi-striped bracelet.
ReplyDeleteOT but I just used the EXTRA 20 and it worked on all my items -- all were in the final sale section but only one was actually marked with the red final sale :)
I think the EXTRA20 only works on final sale items.
ReplyDeletehere's what i celebrated in last Sunday. Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!
ReplyDeletepolyvore
today i have on a jcrew cotton/linen T from a few years back... i think it's parrot green? with a black jcrew cardi and gap jeans. i threw on a (kelly green) jcrew washed wool scarf to drop my son off at preschool. :) have a great day!
I forgot to wear green too! I am wearing all JCrew:
ReplyDelete- Coralie Suede heels in graphite
- Bistro pants in black (I heart these so bad)
- Perfect fit tank in a oatmeal heather color
- Silk/Linen v-neck sweater in slate
- Pink dainty layering necklace
Eh, no green for me. I'm in uniform today. Blah blue...
ReplyDeleteJCrew head-to-toe: Trastevere paisley boatneck top (from last spring, I think), Green capris, green patent leather flats, and a heavy, but gorgeously green glass-bead bracelet.
ReplyDeleteEXTRA20 only works on sale/final sale items. I just tried it...regular priced merchandise does not apply.
ReplyDeleteForget the green clothes. I want cornbeef and cabbage right now! Happy Saint Paddy's Day ladies!
ReplyDeleteOoooh-Oooh,
ReplyDeleteI love it when everyone tells what they're wearing on a holiday!
Let's see, today it's:
Jcrew stone bead necklace in avacado (which, let's be honest - is more of a pale celadon green)
Jcrew slim shirt in dark green
Jcrew cashmere cardigan in black
Ann Taylor pencil skirt in grey, black & white houndstooth
Black pumps
I know, not exactly wild & crazy. What can ya do, I work in a rather staid office. Oh well, at least I won't get pinched :}
Hope y'all have a fun & festive day,
Heather:D
Alexis posted the code; HUGE mistake. I will disappear in a few hours. Makes more sense to just add it to the first comments of any new posts she puts out. People will still see it and have half of a fighting chance to actually use it. Learn from the past Alexis...don't keep making the same mistakes.....
ReplyDeleteIT not I
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patty's Day, Alexis!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing the JCrew "BON VOYAGE" graphic tee (in Green, of course!) with the JCrew navy pinstripe Super 120s blazer, white Express editor pants, and some brown Franco Sarto slingbacks.
Cheers!
Matchstick cords in dark kelly and the Cambridge Crewneck sweater in the ivory or snow color.Metallic gold skinny belt and some spotty tan animal print flats.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 1:19 PM: Yes, I posted the code. But I didn't create its own post. I thought this would be the best solution, so Aficionadas would know.
ReplyDeleteI apologize if this method has upset some of you. Seriously, I just can't seem to win. :(
So what that Alexis posted the code? Big deal, no need to browbeat her. Do you think JCrew marketing plants only skim the main page of this blog? They surely read comments too, so it wouldn't take them long to discover the 'secret.'
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU Alexis for continuing to do such a FABULOUS and PHENOMENAL job with the blog...you ROCK!!! :)
Thanks Tastymoog & FFM! I really appreciate the understanding & kind words. :)
ReplyDeleteRaising a pint of Guinness to Alexis! The blog is awesome - you win all the time:)
ReplyDeleteNow if only I really could take a break from work and get a pint of Guinness...
Anon at 1:19- Having a bad day?
ReplyDeleteThanks Alexis! I really appreciate you posting the code. Once again, this is the best place to find promo codes! I won't be using the code, I was hoping for free shipping too.
I am not wearing JCrew today, but I am wearing a green Ann Taylor sweater. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Oh, and are any NYCers going to the sample sale? There's a swimsuit I'm trying to track down but I don't know if it's worth schlepping out to the sale to see what they have. If anyone's going tonight email me at sherbie210 at hotmail.com - maybe we can meet up or go on different days and try to scope out items for each other.
ReplyDeleteSherbie & Spring Forward: A big "thanks!" to you guys too! Happy St. Patrick's Day!! :)
ReplyDeleteditto on the guinness and what tastymoog, sherbie and FFM said. Alexis is only trying to help all of us aficionadas. i usually stay out of this stuff but geez give Alexis a break. this is all in FUN. don't take it so seriously and go have a pint. cheers!! have a great day Alexis. :)
ReplyDeleteccbmum: And "thank you!" to you too! :) I agree with you that this blog is suppose to be fun and informative, and I hope it stays that way. :)
ReplyDeleteNo, I am having a great day. It has been wonderful so far!
ReplyDeleteJust thought it was silly to post the code on the side even b/c in the past the code will only work for a few hours and then be gone.
Heck, I am even smart enough to know not to try and call CS to use the code on a phone order or as someone else posted--tried to get a price adjustment...people let's use our God given brains just a bit:)
Anony@1:19
Thanks for the code alexis, it totally was the push i needed to make another purchase :)
ReplyDeleteAnon at 1:36 PM: Happy to hear you were able to use the code. :) The "thanks!" really goes to Anon at 10:08 AM (in the "J.Crew Featured In Harper's Bazaar Magazine" post) who was kind enough to share it with us. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I forgot to mention, "THANKS!!!" to all those who shared your outfits for today.
ReplyDeleteIt got me thinking that I own some of the pieces you mentioned and I am going to start wearing them too! For example, ccbmum is wearing the Metallic French market tee, which I have too- and I am going to wear tomorrow! :)
I was inspired by this post and comments to find a green outfit for the local Irish Club later today...
ReplyDeleteKelly green Jackie cardi(or some bright green)
Scarf in same kelly green
Fave fit trouser jeans (outlet)
Navy graphic tee (with white Italian words across the chest)
Magenta pumps
J Crew-like gold chain necklace
Happy St. Patty's Day!
Alexis,
ReplyDeleteYou do a fab job. Thanks for posting the code - I just placed another order. Yey! Can we have a post on the Sample Sale? I'm interested to hear from other JCA's who have gone how it is. Is the sale worth it this time, or no?
Thanks! :)
My daughter and I are all decked out today. I have on the cream with black fleur-de-lis crewneck waffle l/s T under the green teeny pocket s/s slub T from a couple years ago (my first slub, which hooked me for good!) with VS jeans and green glitter eyeliner. My little one has on a pink l/s T under a gift from my bestie, a green s/s T that says "Not lucky but cute!" and we both have on our white Chucks. If I still lived in Savannah I'd be rocking my greatest thrift store find, a green polyester leisure suit. Have a Happy St. Pats, all!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing the Green Crystal Button Cardigan I just got from V on the Weekly Exchange, with a Gap ruffle tank and BR navy martin trousers. Slastena rocked the cardigan in her Feb 24 polyvore!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Alexis: yay! that's one of my favorite T's :) enjoy wearing it tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteJen: "Thanks!" to you too! :) Also, you must have read my mind, because I just created a post on the Second Sample Sale. ;) ["Second Sample Sale in NYC {is it worth it?}"]
ReplyDeleteAnon at 1:56 PM: I love the mom & daughter outfits!!
ccbmum: I can see why its one of your favorite tees- it really is great! Thank you for reminding me that I owned it! :)
: ) Green matchstick cords and tissue boyfriend v-neck tee in neutral.
ReplyDeleteAnony@1:19 and 1:36 - Glad to hear you're having a good St. Patty's day:)
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree though with not trying to get price adjustments. I think it's always worth a try. I bought a bunch of swim items a couple of weeks ago when they offered free shipping. A day later a 20% off all swim code came out. I called CS and got an adjustment. I'm just saying - I don't see anything wrong or nonsensical with calling CS and seeing what they can do for you. That's what they're there for.
Not wearing anything that it to exciting but I did try to make an effort to go green. I am wearing my golden avocado melanie with a black pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteI never wear green on March 17. I have red hair and people always wish me a happy St. Pat's but there is no Irish in our family, the red comes from the Scandanavian side. When I was in my early 20's I used to go to the bars and tell people my name was Colleen Murphy. Free drinks! Of course, that got boring after a couple years.
ReplyDeleteI'm not wearing J.Crew today. St. John charcoal skirt suit with Ralph Lauren pink flower print silk blouse and Chie Mihara Ivete black suede pumps.
Just wanted to add to the dozens of ladies saying THANKS Alexis - for publishing one of my absolute favorite blogs ever!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing the Dazzling Dots pencil skirt, snow cashmere turtleneck, and the Belinda Spectator Heels in stone. It's mint green, but it's still green. :) Oh, and I'm writing with a green pen at work today.
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing a green knit bikini top with a grey Jcrew cashmere hoodie with sweat pants at home. ;)
ReplyDeletePosted earlier, but it now has a "real" home!
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! Today I am wearing the double serge pencil skirt in ivory, an ivory beaded cami from Ann Taylor, a beautiful lawn green cashmere Jackie cardigan, and tall brown Via Spiga boots. I'm also wearing a flower ring from JC, I don't see it offered online but I found it last week at a b&m. It's primarily gold, with a smattering of crystals along the petals and around the center of the flower. So pretty!
Also, many thanks to Alexis, you do a FAB job and you totally ROCK!
Paper Bag Princess: Thanks for the nice words. Also, I love that image by your name! :)
ReplyDeleteDonna: Great use today of the matchstick cords! :)
Emily: That outfit sounds great! I love avocado and black together.
Anon at 2:36 PM: Too funny! I love that you created a name for St. Patrick's day when you were younger! ;)
The Argyle Martini: The best part is that green pen! Accessories count!!! :)
Misty: I am jealous that you have weather that allows you to wear a bikini top. Even though today is a lovely day in New England, its still not too warm. ;)
Marietta: Thanks for the nice words. And you rock too!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is not Alexis's fault for posting the code, it is the people who call CS and ASK FOR A PRICE ADJUSTMENT who tip J Crew off. I bet this code was not supposed to go into effect until Wed. when the usual markdowns occur.
ReplyDeletei think about wearing green today... and i didn't wear anything j.crew. :| i'm wearing a short-sleeved eyelet lavender sweater over the white eyelet libertine for target shirt and a white cami with navy w/brown pinstripe pants. oh! my socks have some green in them, but that's coincidence.
ReplyDeletei *didn't* think
ReplyDelete*must proof read*
I think it's hilarious on St. Patrick's Day that so many people choose to celebrate by belting out the only words they know to "Oh Danny boy" a song that's a) really, really sad and b) written by an Englishman.
ReplyDeleteTall Harlow boot in brown, Cut from the Cloth jean skirt, green Jackie twinset and F21 cluster pearl necklace.
ReplyDeleteFeeling Irish!

Alexis,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say thanks for posting the codes! Today is my day off, and I have time to read the blogs. But on the days that I work 12 hour shifts in a hospital, I don't have time to read blog after blog when I get home. It is very helpful to have a code posted in a convenient spot, and I REALLY appreciate it!!
Leslie
No Jcrew today. Take that back, I am wearing the nest ring in coral.
ReplyDelete-Emerald Green silk shirt from AT Loft (was $4 on final sale, cute bib thing going on at collar, short sleeves)
-My favorite gap jeans (seriously slimming, super long, and great pocket placement), finished off with my trusty Charles and David Patented leather maryjanes, 3inch heels. I have wore for the past 4 years!
No, way malarkey! I will be delivering my off tune rendition of "Whiskey in the Jar!"
ReplyDeleteLeslie & Anon at 3:09 PM: Thanks! :)
ReplyDeletemalarkey: I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing. :)
Accidentally wore a bunch of green yesterday and couldn't find anything else for today :( Yesterday I wore: kelly green jackie cardi from couple seasons ago, lt green wrap/scarf, fav green stone bracelet, black pants and leopard flats. Didn't occur to me until I got home and husband said confused "St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow..." Oops.
ReplyDeleteFor my second outfit of the day... to go out for some green beer... I am wearing my golden moss (the green, orange and navy ones) penelope peep toes (couldn't resist) with jeans, and a brown tank under a spiced mustard Jackie. I have at least 20 pieces of green clothing (it's my favorite color) so it was hard to choose.
ReplyDeleteI'm head to toe JCrew today also.
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing brown suede ballet flats, ellie chinos, the joie de vivre candy tee and a jackie cardi in bright clover
Here's a question for the chic women of jca: Do you wear ever wear a tie? In the catalogs the women quite regularly are styled wearing a tie, and I think they look fab ... but I just can't wrap my head around wearing one myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post Alexis and thanks for the heads up on the 20% code:) much appreciated and more exciting than green beer!
ReplyDeleteI am wearing my cypress Green Victoria Ruffle with a black suit and my Black patent Juliets (LOVE THESE! thanks JCrew for sending these to TJ MAXX!)
Happy St.Patrick's Day everyone
Twiga
I am wearing my green linen scarf!
ReplyDeleteI was almost head to toe JC. I wore the green favorite fit chinos (from last year), the navy dream tie sweater, navy tee, fireball necklace in cornsilk, and ATL flats.
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing a green zebra.
ReplyDeleteI love these posts!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing a kelly green crystal button cardigan that I can't remember the name of and the slim fit shirt in white from J.Crew and navy pants from Banana Republic.
FYI- Called CS to see if they would honor the EXTRA20 on an order I placed this morning and they were happy to do so:) What a St. Patrick's day- Free Shipping + 20% off- yeah

ReplyDeleteI think the women-in-ties look is done very well in the catalogue, but find myself drawing comparisons with an old and sad version of Avril Lavigne in real life.
ReplyDeletemarie antoinette,
ReplyDeleteI found a really fabulous tie at a flea-marked type shop, and I wore it that day just for fun. I haven't worn it since, though. I think it can look great. I wish more people would do it.
Thanks Alexis for posting the code! I was waiting on buying some stuff on sale and this was a good opportunity for me. At least the % off was more than free shipping would have been. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing my j crew jackie in green and a BR printed top in green and white. It was fun to see everyone out there wearing green today!
ReplyDeleteMy whole class was decked out in green today...I wore the green cardigan with scotty dogs that JCA Emily graciously gave to me :) along with GAP long-sleeved black t shirt, Martin and Osa denim trouser, Initial Outfitters silver chain link necklace, and black Franco Sarto boots...very comfy for this Irish girl!
ReplyDeleteNo green beer, but maybe a little Bailey's after the kiddos are in bed!
Everyone: Again, thanks for sharing your outfits!!! :) These are one of my favorite posts!
ReplyDeleteTwiga: Thanks for the thanks! Also, congrats on your order! :)
Melissa: I am with you, I love these posts too! They are such a great source of outfit inspiration!!! :)
Anon at 6:19 PM: When I read your comment, I thought "so true!" I love how women are styled with ties in magazines, but whenever I see them in real life, they either look like Avril or they are working at a restaurant (& are forced to wear them).
Jetta1872: Thanks for the thanks! The "thanks!" really goes to Anon at 10:08 AM (in the "J.Crew Featured In Harper's Bazaar Magazine" post) who was so nice to share it with us. :)
Has anyone been able to get the Extra20 code to work this evening??? Or is Jcrew onto us??? I can't get it to work....
ReplyDeleteI think the extra20 code is on final sale items only. If it doesn't work you can always call in to have it applied.
ReplyDeleteI have the month off so no JC just pj's and lounging for me today. Well I did cook a wonderful breakfast and made lunch of my sweet bestfriend.
ReplyDeleteEvening
ReplyDeleteThis is off topic, but can someone tell me about the outfit the model is wearing in the photo for this post? I love the mix but match of the patterns.
Namaste
Just another sidenote.
ReplyDeleteThe website is behaving erratically, ie. error codes, page won't load, links don't function.
Anony 10:02 - LOL
ReplyDeleteMade lunch of your best friend. hehe I know it's just a typo. Well, I hope it is. But it gave me a much-needed giggle today.
So I have a question I made about a 150.00 order today (sale pg with the extra 20 off.)
ReplyDeleteNone of the items came up in red saying final sale. Does this mean they are returnable??
Thanks
Nathan- I noticed the same thing today when I placed my order (only 1 item said Final sale) Then when I got home I had a lovely J Crew box on my doorstep and to my surprise none of the items I purchased said Final Sale on the receipt or on the item. These were almost all winter items/Fall 2008 etc... so I assumed that they would be FS. Yeah, I can try them on and have a few weeks to decide if they are going back.
ReplyDeleteSmart move J Crew- I tend to buy more when I know I can return a few items.
Twiga
Thanks so much Twiga!!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable outfit!...I have a similar JC top in a soft metallic gold from last summer. Hope everyone had a great day!
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahaha, anon 10:02, "made lunch of my sweet bestfriend"
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me laugh, too. Totally reminded me of that last scene in silence of the lambs :-)
Went to work and wore my...
ReplyDeleteMelanie Cardigan (in green....forgot the color)
Boot Cut Vintage Cords in Slate
Glenbrae High Heel Boots
Twinkle Belt ("07?) in Blue
Giraffe Necklace in gray
J. Crew Factory cotton scarf in gray
Had a great day. Happy Day After, Everyone!
