J.Crew sent an email today letting us know about their new arrivals. They also reminded us about their free shipping offer (on orders of $195+) with promo code MUSTHAVE. It is unclear how long this offer will last.
Although I appreciate the email, what I am really looking forward to is checking the mailbox later today to see if I was lucky enough to receive the latest red card (refer to this post). ;)
J.Crew is so...on top of things.
ReplyDeleteI love how they take care of "valuable" cardholders..postfactum email is exactly what I need, lol! Nice, J crew!:))
ReplyDeleteI know I am bad, but I am still holding out for a better deal (free shipping with $195 does not exactly tickle my fancy!). Please give a more attractive promotion, maybe a % off (for everyone) and a free ship code!
ReplyDelete"What's new"... not so exciting. Sigh, tired of the "neutral" palette and distressed looking stuff.
ReplyDeleteI really love a lot of the crewcuts stuff right now and wish I could fit into them ;-)
I'm not going to even gripe again about their shipping. They're definitely not competitive w/other retailers...incl Nordstrom, Neimans, saks. Oops, just griped.
ReplyDeleteI agree w/Crawford -- Crewcuts is sick and I mean that in a good way.
Agree w/Crawford and gigi. I was doing a search for "dress" and "skirt" the other day, and up popped some adorable items. I got so excited until I realized they were for little girls :)
ReplyDeletegot my red card today!!very excited!
ReplyDeleteThat $195 offer for free shipping is just silly. When I received my answer back from the J. Crew rep regarding the red card, they basically said they were sorry but they choose people at random and to check out other promotions (like the picked through sale)?
ReplyDeleteYes, Alexis I want the red card took, I went shopping and the next day saw your post about it. But I did snag the new catalog and it is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI was in the Westport, CT store today. I had to laugh because they have now hidden the sale section in a remote VERY out-the-way place. I found it anyway! Ha Ha JCrew! What's next, the basement?
ReplyDeleteBTW, none of the new stuff (yes, I did look at it) excited me.
I just got my red card in the mail. I was so excited to be one of the "chosen," and then my husband said--"they are drug dealers!" Yeah, I guess it's true that in order to save 25%, I have to shell out more dough. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteon friday i decided to buy some of the new spring roll out and spent almost $300. on saturday i got my red card.
ReplyDeletedo you think there is anyway they can adjust this in-store? would i be a pain in the a-- to return everything and rebuy it with my red card? I would be saving almost $75 and its not like money is growing on tree around here. :)
thoughts? advice? thanks!
Anon at 1:02 & Slastena: I thought the same thing in that the email was a bit late with the notice. :) But I thought that maybe some customers might not check the website daily like me! ;)
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I ran to the mail box today after seeing the postman drive up. And to my wonderful delight, I got a red card!!! I have to say, "thanks!" again to JBird & Slastena who alerted us to the red card. The J.Crew mailing totally "blended in" with the other junk mail. I would have completely have overlooked it if I wasn't looking for one. :)
The mail just came. No red card. Foiled by JCrew once again. :(
ReplyDeleteOT - I know some JCAs that were looking for the shell colored ribbon bead necklace. They had 8 of them at the Scottsdale, AZ Fashion Square J Crew this morning. Phone number is 480-945-2739.
ReplyDeleteCan you use the red card and a student/teacher discount together? 36% off would be a fab deal. Anyone try this yet?
ReplyDelete36%.
ReplyDeleteif you are a student or teacher i think you need to use a calculator.
not being snarky, just funny!
I haven't tried using both with this card, but I wasn't able to combine last time. Not that I'm complaining, 25% off is a great deal!
ReplyDeleteStacy - I just bought about $400 worth of stuff within the last week, and I am going back tonight with my red card to get adjustments. I am bringing all the stuff with me so I can return it and buy it back. Normally I wouldn't care that much, but seriously $100 back is nothing to shake a stick at. I'll let you know how it goes.
ReplyDeleteFor those wondering about the gorgeous watercolor skirt featured in Marie Claire, my PS tracked down info on it - it is coming out in May, and according to her it is only $88. She pre-ordered it today for me. :-)
ReplyDeleteStacy, if i get a card i am certainly returning-then-buying again with the order i placed on friday (even if only to annoy the snotty SAs at my local B&M). i didn't get one last time, so i have my doubts i'll get one this time; alas, i would definitely try if i were you. :)
ReplyDeleteI am almost offended..I spend a lot of money at J Crew, and I am a card holder. Am I not valuable enough to get a discount???
ReplyDeleteJust got the card today. I have not used or bought anything J.Crew since x-mas. I wonder if they are sending the card out to customers to get them to spend again. Anyhow, has anyone gotten the bella satchel? It's an online only handbag and it looks super-cute in the catalog. Not sure how it's made and how it feels/looks in person. So far my other jc bags have not been super high quality. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone gets the red card!
ReplyDeleteMy red card arrived today! I'm thrilled. Thing is - I'll be out of the country from April 9 thru the 19th and unable to use my card. I'm perfectly willing to mail it to someone so that they can use it during this time - if they promise to mail back by April 20th. I'll even include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Email me at boys3 at aoldotcom
ReplyDeleteAnon at 3:01 PM: LOL! I know what you are talking about with the Westport, CT store! I went on Friday and had to search for the sale section. It turned out to be on the second floor behind a huge wall to block it, with two small spaces as entrances/exits. I couldn't help but feel like they didn't want a "sale" section or to have anyone seen shopping the sale section. It was quite a turn off actually. ;)
ReplyDeleteI received a red card too :) Not sure what criteria they're going on since I've spent a couple hundred each month since christmas. I hardly spend any money in B&M stores though.
ReplyDeleteWow, I wish my local B&M was two stories!
ReplyDeleteMarietta,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing info regarding the skirt featured in Marie Claire! Did your SA give you a confirmation number when you placed a pre-order? (I preprdered the cascading flower jacket before but J.Crew canceled my order without any notice).
Just got my red card. As to the mystery of the profile, it appears to be WEB shopping, as in " Let's target those who are buying on line and get them into stores." Why? Marketing knows that touching, seeing, trying on provokes MORE purchases than web shopping. Why do I think the red card may have been base don my web shopping? They used the mailing address I use for my web purchases, not my credit card address.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I felt like I was banished to the back when I was in the Westport sale section last week!
ReplyDeleteNo red card here :(
6:06-That's interesting. I shop 100% online , (do returns in store) because it's easier and a more pleasant experience. I live near the SF store, but shopping there makes me very uncomfortable. It's just too jam packed with merchandise. Add in even a handful of fellow shoppers and you can barely move. I don't see how on earth they can be ADA compliant in that store.
ReplyDeleteHowever, this red card that I just got in the mail may get me in there. That or one of the more spacious Bay Area stores. Stonestown is fab--plenty of room to move around.
I received the catalog and a Red Card in the mail today.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 5:52 - I haven't received a confirmation number yet, but I will email her tomorrow to find out the status of the pre-order. Our exchange was over email today, but I'm sure she took care of it... she is great!
ReplyDeleteOT - I received the 25% off red card today! :-)
Got a red card - shop equally online and in store!
ReplyDelete6:41 Anony near San Francisco: You're right, if I brought a friend in a wheelchair to that B&M, it'd all be impossible; sigh. However, the merchandise is more complete, diverse, and they have a larger sale section than Stonestown. ** Heads up, it's always empty when they open. I have one day a week I don't have to work and always go at 10, sometimes at 10 on Sundays. Like a private showing! ** They want those of us who are known "buyers" (online) to buy in the stores BEFORE the May roll out--and buy more than we would. It's a phenom called "sucker effect" where you feel like a fool for not getting all you can ... but it works.
ReplyDelete7:36-I'll have to remember that re: shopping early. I dunno though. That store is so claustrophobic.
ReplyDeleteI like the online shopper gets the card theory. It would be the same reason infrequent shoppers get catalogs with codes.

Stacy and those who with recent large purchases - I was able to return and repurchase the things I bought this weekend, but the SA gave me a hard time about it. I ended up saving a lot! She told me she wouldn't do it again though, haha.
ReplyDeleteMake sure if you do it that you bring everything with you so it's a return, and then a repurchase, because if I hadn't brought everything she definitely wouldn't have done it. Like I said before, ordinarily it wouldn't have been a big deal but I JUST (as in LAST NIGHT) made some major purchases and it was really a nice treat to be able to save the additional cash :) Thanks J.Crew!
Can anyone comment on the Milla cami fit? Is it TTS?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I got a red card but my local B&M is small--I called the PS and asked if they had the five items I've been coveting online . . . no, no, no, no, and no!
ReplyDeleteI have not purchased a single item from my local B&M; the only transaction I've had there involved the red phone, once. I was told by my local PS that the red card is targeted at direct (online/catalog) shoppers, to get them into the store.
It seems to me that JCrew may be using this promotion to boost same-store sales, ie, have a better second quarter financial report.
the milla cami seems to be true to size. the fit is very generous in the shoulders and you can wear it more like a cowl neck. the shirt is absolutely gorgeous and got mine today with my red card!
ReplyDeletealso, i don't think the red card is directed only towards online shoppers to get them in the store. my mother has purchased ZERO from j crew and went with me once when we had the last red card to go shopping. she purchased my things with her credit card (christmas presents) and she got a red card in the mail today as well! this literally was her first and only purchase there ever. who knows how they do it, i just know i would be really upset if i didn't get one!
ReplyDeleteI buy a combo of online and in store purchases. Not a huge spender, but enough for a 50-75 rewards card every quarter..........and I have never received a "Red Card". Who knows.......
ReplyDeleteI got my red card today also. I also received one last time. I just recently became a card holder and buy equally online and in-store. Not sure how it all works out. I just purchased a few sale items over my lunch today and checked out the new spring items. I will be making another trip back to pick up some things I had my eye on.
ReplyDeleteMan, I was really happy to get the red card in the mail today! It was funny though, I had an appt. with a personal shopper yesterday (my first time) mainly for the 20% off! When I made the appt. I didn't know about the red cards, and frankly I really doubted I'd be one of the lucky ones to get it. If I'd waited, I'd have saved less than ten bucks, so I'm not kicking myself too hard since the personal shopping experience was nice. My PS picked really nice colors and always looks fantastic, so I trusted her. Unfortunately, my local store is pretty small, no shoes, bags a rarity, no crewcuts and the sale section has been dismal for months so I'll probably take a hike over to the bigger mall an hour away to use the red card.
ReplyDelete@Marietta - Have you done a pre-sale order before? I'm just wondering because I was pretty disappointed by my experience. Pre-ordering didn't help me get it any faster at all, even though I was told my item would arrive at J.Crew (and be ready for pre-shipment) in mid-March. I still haven't received it.
ReplyDeleteAlexis, yey for the pretty red !What are you planning to get?:)
ReplyDeletenot sure if anyone else has received the latest catalog yet, but there was a card inside for $25 off your next purchase of $125 or more.
ReplyDeleteJTS - This is my first time doing a pre-sale order. I don't expect to receive the skirt until early-mid May. My main reason for doing pre-sale is just to make sure I get the item in my size, without having to track it down in store. My PS offered, and I didn't see any reason why not to.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is interested, Im selling my card for $25
ReplyDeleteSlastena: You are too sweet (about being excited for me getting the red card)! :) I am very happy about it too. I just ordered the Dressy jersey Grecian V-neck long dress on Friday, so I am happily waiting to receive that. But I had my eye on several flats: the Samantha Metallic flats & the Joley flats. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think you will get with the red card? :)
I was looking at a necklace on ebay and saw that it will be shipped from hong kong. I wondered if Jcrew had a store in hong kong and typed 'jcrew hong kong' in google and found this interesting article

Has anyone read about this before ??
