I came across this gem when I was doing some Christmas shopping on the website yesterday: (they are reviewing the Pajama Pant in Plaid Flannel)HA! Pretty darn good! I especially appreciate the last line where the reviewer offers to help J.Crew out. Priceless.
"I know hate is a strong word, but I hate these. The paltry rise is perhaps 7 inches. You can even see in the pic that the fabric stops right above her, ahem, crack. I'd rather sleep in skintight hip hugger jeans from 2002 than these things. At least those would be warm. Fabric quality does not match price. I really do miss the good flannel pj bottoms J Crew had back in the day. I still have a pair even. Nice pockets and what's that? An ELEVEN inch rise to actually land somewhere near a waist?! How lovely since I'm not usually prepping to pole dance whist wearing flannel pj bottoms and that's all this current pair is good for. I'd be more than happy to mail my old pair back to y'all so you can fashion a decent pair for next year".

Bravo to that commenter...she echoes my perhaps more generalized feelings about J Crew's low rise pants, that they are silly-looking and un-elegant. Now I guess even their pj pants are low rise.
ReplyDeleteThe review is funny, but I prefer the fit of the new pants. I bought the plaid and the blue clip dot. I wish I didn't have to hem them, but they worked for me. I wouldn't even look at them if they had an eleven inch rise.
ReplyDeleteSame. An 11" rise would feel too high on me. I've always liked the fit of J. Crew's PJ pants, but I wish they'd figure out a way to stitch the waistband so it doesn't twist.
Deleteyeah, what's up with the twisting waistband???? I have a pair of their pj pants doing that now, an expensive pair. $10 old navy pajama pants have a line of stitching to keep the elastic in place, but $50 JC ones do not?
DeleteI detest low rise, so I'm in full agreement with the poster! I buy my flannels at Victoria Secret because they come in Tall.
ReplyDeleteI bought a pair, got on sale but I really would expect more from pj's fhar retail for almost $100 (paid about $65). After one wear there was a lot of pilling between the legs (maybe if I had major thigh gap it wouldn't have happened!). I really want to return but hate to do that too. I am almost sure my local store would return for me though as I have returned items that didn't hold up before. My toile sweatpants pilled in the same spot badly too but I paid less so I am sucking it up and keeping those.
ReplyDeleteNo opinion on JC pajama pants - but I'm pleasantly surprised at the online reviews in general. A lot of them are quite descriptive and honest, talk about quality and fit and point out things that may not be apparent in the model and item pictures. I had my doubts that it was going to be all, "You can dress it up or down!" (right, Gigi?), but I'm actually finding them to be helpful.

ReplyDeleteLOL! That said, I have these pj pants and I bought a medium (I'm normally a 4) . They need to be bought in a bigger size to be comfy!
ReplyDeleteOverall I find the reviews are quite helpful too. I hope J.Crew adds them to the Factory website soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm on my last pair of older J.Crew PJ pants which were a 9 inch rise (I stocked up years ago :). I thought they were perfect. I'm not sure if the new lower rise will work for me either. If not, I'll just get the Old Navy PJ bottoms since they are reasonably priced, fit well, and come in lots of cute patterns.
I love my ON pj bottoms. They're dirt cheap and they hold up great. Very comfortable.
DeleteI'll 3rd ON's offerings - I love their fleece 'jam pants. I have many, some 3 years old & they have held up wonderfully & are as cozy & soft as they were day 1.
DeleteLOVE my fleece ON pants, they are super soft and hold up really well
DeleteI have these too and also sized up and got petite. As a shortie, I was happy to see petite offering on some of these so they don't drag all over the floor. Although it sucks I can't get a set with petite bottoms, or the top separately. I don't find the rise to be an issue. They are kinda thin though...
ReplyDeleteThe reviews of the long belted down puffer this year are pretty funny. They mostly say that it smells like wet dog.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check those out--I returned my navy Excursion vest for the very same reason! I have only left one review and it was for the v-neck cardigan basically stating the quality was terrible. JC reached out and authorized a return (I am well past my 30 days) which I am thankful for. But now I am still in search of that perfect cardigan...
