"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I am mad that the houndstooth sweater with the beautiful blue and burgundy print was ruined by being too short, too wide, and fugly with its dropped shoulders AND dolman sleeves. I would have loved it if it had looked like a regular sweater.

  2. The only items I want are excluded from every promo. It's also hard to keep all of the promos straight these days, I feel bad for the SA's who have to keep track for customers. Yesterday it was a % off the total spent and today it's 30% off full price styles. Maybe they can pick a promo and keep it for a week or specific period of time.

  3. I KNOW! I can't believe it's 50% off today on everything EXCEPT for puffer vests. J Crew has to know that's what everyone wants- it's so frustrating!!!

  4. Backordered items have been delayed delayed delayed forever. "We are sorry the backordered ship date is estimated" Come on Jcrew, can you get your inventory right!

  5. Not a vent exactly, just an expression of frustration that in the recent articles about J Crew's financial performance, Mickey expressed confidence in the current offerings as opposed to the offerings of six months ago. I suppose he has to say that, but it was cringe-worthy.

And sadness that the company wrote down the value of the stores only rather than the website. In my area (Boston), J Crew is sited only in malls, which I think decreases their appeal and accessibility considerably. All of J Crew's competitors (and even Madewell) have stores mainly on the street (Newbury, Harvard Square etc.) and that's how folks here want to shop. Malls are dying. Manhattan has the most J Crew stores of any city, and none of them are in malls. JC should expand their stores to better locations (in appropriate cities of course).

    1. I'm from Boston as well, and agree with you! Boston also needs a collection store, or at the very least more j crew stores carrying coats and cashmere.

    2. Another Bostonian chiming in! I would love to see an actual brick and mortar store ON the street (Newbury, Harvard, wherever). Anthropologie, kate spade, Patagonia, and even Warby Parker have stores on the street in Boston! I used to go to the store at the North Shore Mall when I was in high school (and the clothes were still consistent quality and not... I don't even know what half of this rubbish is now). Would love to be able to just go shop somewhere other than the hot, stuffy, overcrowded, stressful mall!!!
