J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

    2. Haha!! 2 days after I wear the fringe tank. Classic. I got a good price, though. Reviewed here. Some JCAs said to size down. I didn't and went tts (S). You need it to fall straight so it can shake. See the 3 sec vid. ;)

    3. Lol exactly what I was thinking, g! I haven't even cut the tags off mine. I'm tempted to call my VPS and ask him to do a price adjustment.

  2. Lots of second cuts, too. Fine print on the promo now states that HOLIDAYTIME is good through 12/26. Maybe people with gift cards on Christmas will be able to shop a non-final sale this year!

    1. That's weird. Are you in the US or Canada? I am - and the site says good through Dec 25th at 11:59pm, so there will be something else on the 26th promo-wise. Not sure where you saw the 26th?

  4. Four brief reviews for pop backs or B&M sale table:

    1. Shattered print blouse (sleeveless crepe, navy/bronze/ivory): true to size, nice weighty fabric that drapes nicely. Front slit is ridiculously low. I am keeping it but having the front slit tailored to not show my bra.

    2. Folded metal earrings: I love the look of these but am returning for three reasons: 1) they are too heavy for my ears; 2) one of the earrings doesn't hang quite right; 3) the post is hard to get into the backing. These shipped in a necklace box and probably didn't thrive in transit (hence #2).

    3. Radiant necklace in snow: heavy (in a good way) and rather pretty IMO. I'm keeping this and will wear with my graphite Tippi. I have had mixed luck on the quality of JC necklaces, so I may come to regret this.

    4. Silver note cards: I was surprised when they arrived that they are tiny - too small to mail. If you have small handwriting you might be able to fit a whole sentence on one of these cards. I will use them but not in the way I intended.

    1. Greetings Cousy - I think the Radiant Necklace in Snow really pops against black. I was carrying it around a couple months ago in a store (on final sale) wondering whether to get it, when I laid it down on a pair of black pants, and thought, "You are mine, and I will wear you with my black Tippi, my black Perfect Shirt, and whatever other top I can find that is black." Just a recommendation :) Jennifer

  7. I decided to try the Shelby satchel (item b2327) on that recent promo with the extra 10% (on top of 30% off). It's one of the few things from the Fall catalog that caught my eye and I really wanted to see IRL (could never find a store that carried it of course). I love really simple bags. I bought the cove blue. It's just really pretty, not too structured and stiff, but a wide base (with feet!) and enough structure to keep it's shape. If I put the strap at the shortest length, it's good for over-the-shoulder. It's really big though! I'm 5'10" and when I put it on my shoulder it looks like a mini suitcase or carry-on. I think it'd be great for car or plane trips when I haul a lot of stuff, but not sure it's worth keeping just for that. I may have trouble letting it go though, as I've been searching for a simple,classic navy blue bag for quite some time...

    1. Julie, I had the same issue with the Colby cross body bag. I loved it and actually I saw it last night on display in the store I returned it to. But it was too big for me, even folded over as a cross body. But the material, color, styling and craftsmanship was J Crew at it's best. Too bad the smaller size of the satchel does not come in the cove blue.

  10. Does anyone have a review of the wool melton hooded bib jacket (b4906)? TIA!

    1. Love it. I have it in vintage pine and am a little bit iffy on the rose gold hardware but it is very well made with a nice lining and interior pocket, wool is soft and doesn't seem like it will get too nappy, and the fit is not boxy at all on me even though I am large-chested and slim waisted.

    2. Thanks, Alyssa! I ordered the deep riviera and I love it. I agree that the wool is soft and that it's not boxy at all. I was worried that it would be too short for a winter coat, but it's not. I ordered one size down from my usual J.Crew coat size, but I would base that on individual preference. This coat will be one of my favorite J.Crew purchases this year.

  11. :: REVIEWS ::

    Collection Shiny Puffer Jacket in Dark Cranberry - Ordered an xxs because it says, 'oversize fit', I didn't want to feel overwhelmed with the coat on, (for reference I am 36B), I have room to layer. It does not fit TTS, you definitely want to size down. The quality is what you would expect from a collection piece; the construction is good. It's a nice dark cranberry color. I didn't mind the smell, and was not bothered by it. I plan to wear it like how it is styled online; with a light blue sweater and grey wool pants.

    Tilly Sweater in Heather Shoreline - Ordered P2. The length of the sleeves hit just at my wrists. The length of the body is short, even for someone like me with a short torso. Ladies with longer torso, might want to avoid this sweater. It's the same as a wool Tippi, but with regular length sleeves. Not sure if I want to keep it, but it was such a deal with all the promo.

  12. I received the perforated wool skirt yesterday and it was love at first sight. I had to wear it today. It is awesome. Fits TTS if not a little roomy. A great midi on me at 5'3". It goes with a lot of things in my closet.

    The nylon hooded bomber in navy is also awesome. It is very oversized so if you want a snug fit you should go down one to two sizes. I love this jacket.

    1. oh my, so curious about that jacket! Looks great in the navy. Is the fur trim removable and is the coat at least somewhat warm?

    2. Hi Julie,

      Love this jacket as well, and the fur trim is removable. I (personally) would say the jacket isn't super warm (and I live in the Pacific Northwest), but many on-line reviews disagree with me. Cons: the exterior pockets are unlined (not cozy at all) and you don't really want to put a cell phone in it, but I guess that's what a purse is for! I had purchased the fatigue (much lighter IRL, which I didn't like), so I returned it for the navy, which I love! Really great deal at the sale price too!

  13. Their seems to have been a large update a few hours ago. Lots of sizes are back in stock. The elephant parade tee is available in all sizes and the skirt is available in a few sizes. I'll admit, I picked up both of these items recently. I wore the tee with the perfect fir cardigan in glazed pecan and it was really cute. I wore the skirt to an afternoon Nutcracker Tea with my daughter and got lots of compliments. I paired it with a cream sweater and black schoolboy blazer. They both run tts in my opinion.

    Also, tried the cropped pinstripe pj bottoms. I bought these for a gift for my sil. She is very petite (just under 5 feet tall) so I figured the length would be good for her. I tried them on and I don't think they will be a hit. The material felt really nice but the leg is very tapered at the ankle and too balloony in the midsection/hip area. They just looked weird to me.

  14. I tried on the cotton cable knit sweater from the new rollout. In my regular size, it was hard to get over my head. The neck hole is a bit tight. It wasn't impossible, but it trashed my hair in the process (wasn't wearing makeup but that have been an issue too). Left it in the store. It was okay, but nothing special.
