Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

    Perhaps OT, but I'd love to know what anyone is contemplating from the Banana Republic Mad Men collection. Early sales going on now through Facebook!

    I was looking forward to the Mad Men collection, but most of the pieces look really cheap and poorly fitted, even on the models, IMHO. Also, I noticed the use of a lot of poly, acrylic and viscose. Much more than I see in BR's normal range. Other than a pair of trousers for my DH, the line is a skip for me.

    I think Garnet Hill has been mentioned here before but I just wanted to mention it again. I don't know if they've made changes to their aesthetic or have better styling or younger models but I'm really digging them lately. There was SO MUCH in their summer catalog that I wanted and the styling was terrific. I marked a lot of pages for styling ideas. I just got a Fall catalog (which was a little more "meh") but I still marked several pages of things that I wanted to go to their website and check out.

    @kitsmommy, I agree about the MM collection quality looking sketchy on some of the pieces. Such a shame because I love how stylish the show is! Keep coming back to that leopard clutch and leopard trench, though. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. Waiting till after midnight so I can use the 25% coupon.

    I also like BR/MM lace shell, in theory. The higher neckline looks more flattering the the J Crew Leslie lace shell, although I do love my Leslie. Doubt the BR/MM lace is as nice.

    I can't imagine who could pull off those no waistband, high waisted cigarette pants. I know someone who's not gonna try....

    I too tore out pages from their fall catalog with styling ideas using what I already have in my closet! My sister buys from them all the time too. I need to start thinking about buying their clothing more.

    Holly Tara - I like the begonia print dress, the rolled collar on the Collection bracelet sleeve jacket, the leopard trench looks fun and the silk leopard scarf looks pretty. The lace tipped dress looks like nothing, but I like the subtlety in details when I zoom in. Looks like a nice cut. Too bad the tie neck top is poly for $90. I like how they styled it under the leopard cardi, though.

    The leopard trench looks cute in pictures, but feels totally cheap IRL - very disappointed that it's 100% polyester, for $200!
