Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. FYI regarding Factory Online:

Free shipping on all factory items-no minimum, and 20-30% off men & women's pants (prices as marked).

They've also added the Imperial Tee, and re-stocked the Factory Printed Pencil Skirts.

  2. IRL, thanks so much for the Online Factory info! I've been wanting to find the Imperial Tee and have been stalking it on eBay and the Exchange...if anyone happens to see it at their Crewlet I'd be curious if it is the same price as online or on sale...TIA!

  4. Tax free weekend here and I am doing my level best to NOT be near any shopping centers this weekend. One exception is if I can get over to H&M after an appt today. Other than that I am sitting this one out.

  5. Nothing for me this weekend, still totally shopped out after the LOVEIT promo, and it doesn't look like they will be doing another promo until SHIP175 ends. Honestly, there's not much right now that really appeals to me, especially after having read so many mixed reviews on quality of the current items. Instead I'll probably be searching Ebay for older J. Crew stuff. I recently found the Links print dress after *years* of hunting it (just posted a pic on my blog here). I'm in hopes of finding some other pieces for fall.

  6. Was at the JC in Durham NC yesterday, they have the store all pretty for tax free weekend and have many new items (for warmer weather climes). There were no "deals", though, and nothing to really wear now except things like the dolam sleeve tee (#50293) for our 95 degree days. Returned the snug cavalry skirt. The twill in this item, although 100% cotton, is too thick to stretch out on wearing (and also for the reasons Gigi cited- thanks!). The high waisted things do not have the 'fudge factor' that low rise skirts have! I am waitlisted for my size til Sept. 15th- couldn't wear it here anyway until then. Too hot.Fingers crossed that it comes and its on sale by then.

  7. Has anyone tried the Bonnie blouse and can comment on fit? I am thinking about biting with my 20% off code while it's on promo and not final sale.

  8. I visited J.Crew at Rockefeller Center and the Madison/45th Street locations yesterday - no sale items to be had. They both have shipped all the items off to outlets. Has anyone found sale items in any NY area stores?

    ReplyDelete
  9. shopped out thanks to the 20% card holders discount i got the other day... i still want the paisley pencil skirt (which seems to be available in stores but not online) but i'll have to just ask for that for my birthday... already spent too much money for this month.

and i was in short hills mall (NJ) store the other day... don't really remember seeing any clearence stuff... and i forgot to pick up a catalog since i never got mine :(

  10. Shout out to ShopwithM! Thanks to her wonderful tip, I was able to snag the Dauphine-esque Factory plaid tweed pencil skirt for a whopping $17 at the Osage Beach factory store last weekend! They had plenty in stock, and the fit was TTS on me. So excited to wear it (once the temperature drops below 95...)!

  11. I bought a pair of toothpick jeans at Factory last night cause all denim was $39.99 and I find them to be of the same quality as retail. But I probably won't make it to my regular b&m ... no point if there is no sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  12. mimi.magnolia -- Thanks for the shout-out and I'm so glad you found one! I can't wait to wear mine either. :)

  13. No. In a rather uncharacteristic move, I bought my entire shopping cart yesterday with the 20% off. I'm getting nervous that the ship date for some of the items I've been watching keeps moving, so I took the plunge. I hope all the colors are as depicted. The purple tones seem to vary quite a bit.

  14. Nothing for me this weekend. I was delighted that my PS was able to find a viridian green pencil skirt in my size in store. It arrived yesterday with a huge run in the fabric. Back it goes and now I am on the waitlist.

This latest quality issue has left me with no desire to pick up anything new from J.Crew for a while.

  15. Hexicon: I also bought my shopping cart last week and I found the Fallcolors pretty true to the picture shown maybe a shade darker but not enough to say the online color is incorrect. I am loving the dark periwinkle and dahlia colors.

I know there has been alot of complaints about quality but I am pretty happy with my new items I received so far, I wish I did not have to pay fp, at least I have them, I find the more I stalk the website the more I order.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm in complete fall shopping mode, meaning no more summer things unless possibly with another LOVEIT promotion. Will make a list of most desired fall items and try to get them at lowest price possible.

Will also divide my budget between JC and Boden. Boden has many beautiful things for fall, including an understated leopard print velvet coat and some lovely tweed skirts that I swoon over. Boden also doesn't have the quality decline issue that JC has IMHO.

ON the JC side the new Majesty peacoat and some of the wool dresses interest me most. Live 1 hr from B&M so will be mainly watching for rollouts and promos online.

  18. Wow, I cannot believe how many items on my list are already sold out, or on waiting list. The cafe capris in Dahlia and Citron, the double serge pencil skirts, Valentina pumps (at this price???), even Cavalry skirt only has limited inventory in many sizes...
So far I chickened out and pre-ordered the Teddie dress. I also ordered Cavalry skirt 'just to try' but there is only 12 left in my size (6), so I think I will keep it for now.

Surely they will bring more later on, or should I worry, what do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Not I, said the fly -- my gray lady lace popover is due to arrive today (I'm shocked it shipped, hope it isn't a return!) and there just isn't anything else I want right now that's actually available.

Louise, your package is en route, so LMK when it arrives! :)

  20. For those scouring the Factory page today I have a review of the Factory perfect shirt in washed chambray shirt. It doesn't have a happy ending...

  21. steering clear of the B&M, i need to go to confessional for the huge orders i placed with the 40% and then the 20% cardmember promo. i didn't get everything on the fall wish list but enough of the big ticket (cough- technicolor tweed jacket) items to keep my hand out of the JCookie Jar for a while.

for those going to the collection store on the UES, i saw a sz2 ethel trench, ombre sequin dress, new bow flats, and other new shoes this wknd. the staff was so slow & out of it that I just gave everything the once over and left. the store is smaller than i expected.

  22. xoxo,

So sorry to hear about your skirt! Your experience is same as several of mine so I have no desire to start a return pile. My dining room table is finally clear.

I got the special cardholder 20% off and free ship and I am not even tempted to use it! No thanks. Unless I see the item in person I won't be buying anymore J.Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  23. dear (original) Genny,

if you're not going to be using your JC cardholder discount code, would you consider giving it to me? I'd be really really grateful!

    Thanks so much.

  24. I won't be stopping in as my 20% cardholder on-line promo is in the process of burning a hole in my pocket. :)

I just noticed a newer item on the website though. Has anyone seen the Vintage Tweed Jacket? I'm a sucker for collar-less jackets! The mustard color could be great for fall.

Now I debate whether I should buy now with the 20%, or wait and try to get a better discount. I might have to wait a long time on this one. Hmm. .decisions, decisions!

    ReplyDelete
  25. jcbellemarie - Good for you on the technicolor tweed jacket! It is beautiful!! I had my eye on it myself ... again, can't get enough of those collar-less jackets! I hope that it is as impressive in person!

  26. I visited a couple B&M while on vacation in New England this week (Copley Place, Newport RI and Providence RI).

I was looking for the red schoolboy blazer, the Hacking jacket and No 2 in spiced gold. None of the stores had them.

I did see a couple paisley pencil skirts in Copley Place and Providence (or was it Newport?), and Jardin Skirts in Purple at Copley Place. Copley alos carried a patent wedge in nude that was very cute and quite comfortable(around 200$ I think).

A SA told me JCrew was opening a distribution center near Toronto and that we, Canadians, wouldn't have to pay duties anymore! Should be effective when the store in Toronto opens. I don't know if the prices are going to be the same as the US prices and if inventory will be the same. Hope so!

  27. As an incentive to not spend anymore money, I'm giving away my 20% cardholder's code. If you're interested, e-mail me at lauraekuhn@gmail.com.

  28. No shopping at all this weekend. :)

  29. Miss JR, there was a size 0 paisley pencil skirt at the UVillage store in Seattle last week. Not sure if that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Elaine: huge thanks! I'm looking forward to it :-)

@sunflower: Since J. Crew stopped shipping by Canada Post, I have paid a ridiculous amount in duties. So, not having to pay duties anymore would be the most awesome birthday present I could hope to get!! Let's hope that's the case!!

  31. Does anyone have the Factory or Kelsy Patent Tortoise Flats? They seem to only come in whole sizes. I usually wear an 8.5, would I be safe with a 9? TIA!

Loving the new coats that just came out....just not the retail price!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was so sad. I planned to purchase the Lady Lace Popover in gray when I got home from work yesterday but within 1 hour it was gone in my size :( Oh well. Save a bit of money, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  33. (original) Genny, the defective skirt was a huge disappointment. I have always counted on J.Crew's wool pencil skirts to be decent quality, although they have taken some design shortcuts recently but I could live with that. I usually check things over as soon as they arrive and I have a few other items en route. You can bet I am going to be really scrutinizing every inch!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nicole, I find all the factory shoes to run small so you'd most likely be safe with the 9. I do own the Kelcey flats, retail version, and found them to run pretty much TTS, although if there was such a thing as a half size bigger for me, I would have gotten it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. xoxo,

Yes, I scrutinize every inch of JCrew garments and accessories after all my defective experiences! I never used to do that until a few years ago. Now it is a bad habit but one that I must do! Here's hoping the rest of your order is PERFECT:)

I recently got a maxi skirt with a hold near the waist band straight out of the plastic. Such a disappointment!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Great! Thank you, J.CrewJD!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Lauren--no sale stock at all in the Flatiron flagship. I suspect all the NYC stores have shipped their sale items back. Not much of the new stuff in there either which was surprising.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Just to chime in that I stopped at an Oregon jcrew store and. There was no sale section either!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Moya, I agree, not much of the interesting new stuff are in the NYC stores. No use going to the B&Ms this weekend. Did major damage today w/ my 20% off & free shipping promo, practically all my fall wishlist. It's great that the discount worked on sale items too. I think I need to just advise our HR to send my next paycheck directly to Jcrew credit card.

    ReplyDelete
  40. No sale section at my b&m as of a few days ago. I may try to run in just to do some returns of new items I bought that I rebought w/my 20% discount (along w/a few new goodies too *hanging head in shame* ).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Greta I am totally with you on dividing out the budget between Boden and JCrew. I bought that tweed kilt skirt from Boden and it is even more lovely in person.

    ReplyDelete
  42. sunflower - I think they may have already started eliminating the duty charges. I often ship items to a warehouse just across the border to avoid duty, but I always do a mock checkout first, shipping to my home address just to see what the difference to the total cost is. I ordered the Index Dress last night, which is $188, and my total came to about $215 which is juuuust slightly over 13% (tax), meaning that there wasn't really any duty. I was incredibly confused but also pretty happy that I was able to ship it to my house and save myself a trip to Niagara Falls :).

    ReplyDelete
  43. Just passing along to those in states offering a sales-tax free wkd., if the item(s) is not at your local j.crew, the red phone order is tax free too.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Caitlin: I wish it was true however duties are still being charged along with the brokerage fee and our prov/federal taxes. I have ordered this week and I was charged on both parcels only the Matchstick jeans were waived because they were made on the US.

    ReplyDelete
  45. OT, but J.Crew is 8% back on Ebates today. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I did spend my rewards card this week: ordered the Rigby Hobo in the windsor gray. I hope I love it, could be the perfect neutral bag. I'll review it here when it arrives.
Great news about a Canadian distribution centre!
However, nothing else for Fall for me from JC.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nicole, I really hate to be an enabler, but the ladylace popover in the gray color is to DIE for. I already had the black one but the lace detail on it gets so lost ... on the gray version it's like night and day. It will pop back. When it does, GRAB IT. lol.

On the flip side, I'm realy peeved that my Bright Dahlia nail polish arrived looking like a definite return. I was really glad that the bottle didn't break in transit, but it looks like someone bought it, dripped polish ALL down the front of it an then returned it! And then they sent it to me! So now I'm peeved because I have to return it to my B&M, which doesn't carry that color, and then re-order it. GARRRRR. I'm not letting them stick me with shipping costs for a $10 item. VERY irritating.

  48. HI all,

I would like to echo the earlier question about the vintage tweed blazer as well - has anyone seen it? I love the look of it, but if it is cut exactly like the rialto, will be a no go, as that one was simply too boxy for me

    ReplyDelete
  49. Chiming in ... I'm interested in the Vintage Tweed jkt also, pondering it for my 20% offer. Can anyone comment on fit and quality IRL? I'm a sucker for those little tweedy jackets ....

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Caitlin: Only 13% tax on your parcel?? That means they are only charging the HST! Wow, that makes a *huge* difference. I have been holding back on making on purchases, waiting for the Toronto store to open, but this would really help when it comes to ordering items that aren't going to be in the store (like the men's and Crewcuts stuff). Thanks for sharing this info!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. If someone happens to run into the Hacking jacket at a B&M I would love the see it on someone. I absolutely love the grass and midnight ocean and would enjoy any reviews of these colors as well. I am afraid I will end up buying both with the 20% off cardholders discount!

    ReplyDelete
  52. My friend just came back from the Factory store North of Seattle and said the sale section was non-existent. Hmmmmm... a week ago it was still full.

Does this mean another 40% coming up soon?

    ReplyDelete
  53. @Louise - I just did a mock checkout for the No. 2 Pencil Skirt and the duty is there on that one, and then did another one on the Index Dress and it is still just slightly over 13% - perhaps the Index Dress is made in the US (although that seems unlikely)?

Also, I was in Niagara Falls yesterday and went to the J. Crew store at Walden Galleria. I noticed a lot of inconsistent sizing on the same item - for example, the Tippi Sweater in Vibrant Flame was perfect in XS (my usual size), but the XS was HUGE in both Black and Grape (love the sweater, though). Similarly, the Wool Cafe Capris were big in 00 in black but I could barely do up the 00 in the camel colour. Very odd. I didn't love the texture of these and found them quite unflattering on me from behind, but I didn't find them itchy and I am very sensitive to wool.

They had the Maisie Dress in Abstract Floral, which I liked and found TTS, but I prefer it in the solid colours.

Tried the Puff Sleeve Popover in end-on-end as well. I love a subtle puff sleeve but this was over the top and made my top half look like a big triangle. I would size up on this one as well, since the buttons gapped a bit in my usual size 0.

Ruthie Shirtdress: I went up one size in this to a 2 since the buttons are placed very far apart which make it prone to gapping. It was okay and would probably be nice when styled properly, but was a bit blah on me. I also found that the bottom hem looked a bit unfinished.

Silk Blythe Blouse: Love this. Fit TTS in my usual 0 with no button gapping. It is a bit short but will look fantastic tucked into skirts or mid- to high-rise trousers. Sheer in the white but fine in the other colours.

Jardin Skirt: Had never even given this a second look online but loved it in person. Found it TTS in my usual 00 for skirts - sits nice and high on the waist and makes my waist look tiny. Hits just at the middle of my kneecaps, but I am 5'9 so would likely be below the knee on someone shorter.

Schoolboy Blazer: Fit TTS in my usual 2 for blazers. Didn't like it in the grey and found that it wrinkled, bunched and pulled awkwardly but for some reason the caramel was much better and smoother and I really liked it. Go figure.

Sorry for the marathon post, hope it helps someone!

  55. Just popped into my store to make returns and tried on several items. Loved the Jardin in purple, preferred the leopard perfect shirt to the leopard Tippi, and found the Dahlia crops in my size (they had just been put out that morning). Happy b/c the Dahlia pants are backordered for quite a long time and I was able to get the 20%. No hacking jackets or vintage tweed in yet.

  56. I ordered the Hacking Jacket in the blue color and it's en route to me. When I receive it I will be sure to post a review. Same w/the yacht blue wool capris.

  57. Went to the Domain (Austin, TX)Store today to buy some shirts for my son (college discount is nice!). All of the clearance items are GONE! A few things (tees and tanks on promo, but all sale items are wiped out completely, in the men's and women's sections!

I have to return a pair of cords we bought, so will check back later this week....before the tax free weekend starts !

  58. I am pretty sure I am going to get the Matinee Trench for my October trip to NY since most have said that you only need a jacket, not a coat in late October there...?

Thoughts on the Matinee Trench? Has anyone seen both the khaki and navy? I can't decide which color to get...Any suggestions appreciated. TIA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Nicole - The matinee trench is cute. You really can't go wrong w/either color. I'd look at the colors you already own in coats/jackets and then pick the one you don't have.

  60. Posted pics of: wool capris in dahlia, maisie dress, jardin skirt, leopard perfect shirt, stripe-breaker sweater, leopard/suede wedges
    here.

  61. Any reviews on the hacking jacket in herringbone? My store doesn't have it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  62. WMM and ruffles - I did end up ordering the vintage tweed jacket in mustard with the discount. Couldn't resist! I'll post a review when I receive it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well, I couldn't resist! I ended up using the cardholder's 20% off plus free shipping promo on:
-Piped Glitter Belt in metallic silver (final sale but oh so cute!)

-Perfect Fit Flower Tank in Warm Mustard (hope it isn't too big!)

-Matinee Trench in Light Khaki for my fall trip! I have a short torso and most trenches look ridiculous on me, hope this works!

    ReplyDelete
  64. CCS - cannot wait - my computer screen makes the mustard and caramel look remarkably similar, which I know they cannot be. Sometimes I just loathe how they shoot the online pictures - the catalogue is usually truer to real life in my estimation

  67. Just an FYI, I wasn't planning on going to J.Crew this weekend until my PS emailed me and told me the 20% for cardholders was being extended to our B&M store (through no other promotion than her own email), so I went and tried on a bunch of new arrivals. The extra 20% plus the ability to try on the items led me to a few purchases. :) It's worth a try if you're heading to the B&M to ask a PS if you can get the 20% in store.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I shopped both the outlet and retail store this weekend.

First off, I resolved the saga of the Factory Chambray shirt that generated a hole in the sleeve after 3 hrs of wear. More on that HERE

at the Factory store they mentioned more items would be shipped to their store the end of this week adding to the fall roll out they received. She mentioned that they didn't get as many items in the initial release as they had thought they would and she is excited to see what other items they will be carrying in the store. I didn't gather they would be new items, just new items for the store since they weren't carrying too much.

The same goes for the retail store, new items from the new release to be sent to the store by the end of the week and maybe even a sale section added.
